Player Awards: why vote?

Every year we're asked to vote for various player awards. Obviously, it's good for your player to win one (or is it? Perhaps he'll want more money?) but you can't vote for your own players.

I've always wondered: What's in it for me?

I just ignore the "last chance to vote" messages. Am I missing a trick?

There is nothing in it for you. The managers vote for the player award. You are a manager, so you've been given a vote.

Voting for yourself is rather pompous, no?

It was a complaint of sorts:

"If my player isn't going to win, why should I bother voting?"

Since there are a limited number of managers that get to vote, you can affect the result a bit. You could vote for the "worst"(read: stats) nominated player, thus enhancing the chance that one of your nominated players will win the award (increased value).

i must be the only person who likes voting then! i prefer it to the other method of the awards just being handed out.
