How is the game so slow? £550 on a new laptop!

Cracking game but its slow. The laptop is 2.3ghz with 320gb hard drive and 4gb ram. I only have two leagues on! Its when it processes league matches it seems to be really slow for some reason. Does anyone know why this is happening?

have you tried messing about with the processing of fixtures, FM ----> Preferences ----> Processing Fixtures. Bump that up to faster or fastest

thanks for the reply. Yeah its on the fastest, i cant believe it. Game speed is on 2 stars in the game detail yet it was 3 in half when I first started it

Make sure that you close down any applications running in the background that may be using the computer resources while FM is running. Look also if your antivirus is scteening the game in real time.

Does it make any difference if you are running off battery or mains power?

yes - run on mains and you will see a difference

What processor does your laptop have? i3? i5? 2.3ghz may sound good but a newer processor can do more with less ghz.

Mine was snail slow until i put the game detail level on minimum. Going quicker, if not broom broom fast.

Number of players loaded can make a big difference. Try going for a smaller database perhaps?

If your game is a digital download via steam you may have to verify integrity of game files.

I was having a problem with game speed with my game downloaded on steam and when I ran file verification it turned out I had over 100 missing game files, steam downloaded the missing files and fm11 runs smooth now.

That's no powerhouse processor either. This is one of the few games that really benefits from quad-core processors when processing matches. You likely won't be able to, but look into overclocking that processor just a touch. It's probably locked in the bios, but worth a shot.

i5 processor good enough?

Sounds a little weird, even my old 1.6 ghz dual core Athlon x2 64 ran fm2011 and 2011 "smooth", but a little too slow after some handfulls of seasons.. Went with new laptop Intel I3 2.13ghz and 4 gb DDR3 1033 mhz ram! Really really great difference, 7 seasons without rushing took me 3 days ingame

Yessir, that's what I have and I scream through everything. However, I'm also overclocked from whatever stock is (2.66?) to 4.0 ghz.

You could also check to make sure your power plan is on High Performance and always play games using mains power.
