Demo Install Problem Mac

I have downloaded both the Vanilla and Strawberry versions of the demo for the mac, unzipped them and clicked on the installer file. However with both of them nothing is happening.... HELP!!!

Managed to get installer working by copying it and running it from external hard drive as suggested. Also I have to install in a different location as it would not let me use the 'Sport Interactive' Folder in applications as I didnt have 'write permissions' for it. Might be because FM2010 still installed?

Right click on your application folder and get information. If you are not listed as administrator at the bottom click + and add your name as new user/admin with read/write permission.

I'm having the same problem. I've downloaded the Strawberry version of the demo on my Mac and unzipped the file. But when I double click on the Installer icon, nothing happens.

it's most probably because you don´t have full admin permission on your harddisk and some folders. As mentioned above you can check that by right click on your harddisk icon and the folder and open information. If your username is not listed at the bottom and it says tyou have only permission to read you can add it manually.

I had read/write permission. I also gave read/write permission to everyone else, just in case. Still nothing. Strange, I've never had this happen before for any other application. Any suggestions?

Also, not sure if this makes a difference or not, but I have Steam installed. As it happens, I originally tried downloading the demo with Steam. Of course, with the bugs and all, I ended up uninstalling that version and trying the direct download and torrent files for Mac as well.

Did you also remove all preference and cache folders related to fm in your user/library directory?

If that does not help do what Ant already posted: Install it to a different location or copy the setup file on a usb stick or external HD and install it from there.

Yes, I removed the Preference and Cache folders.

Same problem here. I followed all Kubi advices but nothing happens when I click on installer. I downloaded the Vanilla demo.

I'm trying to install from an external hard drive and I still get the error message. I have read/write permission on my main HD too.

You may try to add a new user, than login as that new user and install the demo with the new user account.

Cheers KUBI, I tried it a different way though and it worked. I installed to the external hard drive and then just copied the files across to my main hard drive into the applications folder. Worked fine.

Yes and still don't load the setup file.

I moved the Setup to external HD, then when I click on Setup file I just copied nothing happens again.

I downloaded the demo again, restarted the computer, moved Setup to external HD and to a Pen Drive... and I on OSX 10.6.4

I'm having problems installing on a Mac.

Could someone advise how this is done?

Which files do I have to unzip to allow me to access the .exe?

You just have to double-click the file you downloaded and than it will install the game.

If you ask me .exe files is for PC only, so you must have the wrong one.

As for "no writing permissions" I got the same message on my Mac, so I just chose to install it in a new folder on my desktop and it worked fine.

I double click the downloaded file and I'm asked to unzip it.

Once unzipped, I have two folders called Installer Data and Windows. Where do I go next?

I am having the same problem as most of the posts above. I have downloaded both the strawberry and the vanilla installers for mac, but when i try to open them nothing happens. I have updated java, deleted fm2010, deleted the cache/preferance files, I have both the read/write permissions, I moved the file to an external HD, I even made another on my mac, but still and still nothing happens...

There was something in one of the posts to install it on external HD, how do you do that?

I have no idea what to do next, any ideas???

I haven't got an external hard drive and I don't have any USB flash drives that are large enough to store the file. Is there any chance that you might be re-releasing the game on Steam? I understand that the version currently on Steam is a build from several weeks ago that contained a bug that causes the game to crash after certain transfers (specifically those that break your club's record). In the meantime, has anyone else found success with another method?

Cheers Ant. I suppose I've waited this long, so what's a few more days? In any event, from what I've seen, the game has been brilliant so far. Really pleased with most of the changes - the match engine in particular.

I had the same issue, my account is an admin account but still no joy. right clicked on 'Macbook HD' and specifically gave the chriselliston user read/write permissions to the whole HD and worked after that. I had a few system files that it couldn't grant perms to (presumably because they were in use), and had to click ok and a hundred times, it also took quite a while.

I got it working after downloading it with steam. No crashes yet, but only played for a few minutes...
