Changing formations quickly in a match and having the players positions correct

I seem to be having trouble getting my players in the right positions after quickly changing the formation i.e. from a 4-2-3-1 to a 4-4-2. It seems a defender always swaps with a midfielder, striker with a midfielder despite setting up both formations with the same players from scratch in the tatics creator. I therefore have to go into my tatics screen which I dont want to and move the players into their positions meaning th quick change in formations useless on the tv screen.

Anyone know what I could be doing wrong? Or How I could improve the situation?
