Persuading the Board to Purchase a Player

Just loaded a game up as Everton as fancied signing the talented Henri Lansbury from Arsenal.

Unfortunately his value was £3.3m and even if Arsenal wanted to sell him he would be well above my budget however I was given the option of asking the board to negotiate the transfer.

Bill Kenwright told me that he felt the transfer budget was sufficient so I decided to tell him how important I felt the signing would be and to my delight Bill Kenwright agreed with me and said he would do everything in his power to sign the player.

He splashed out £15.75m and signed Lansbury as a first team player on £45k a week.

I love this feature.

I've found chairmen pay far over the odds unneccessarily.

Had Hill-Wood pay £80m for Aguero when his release clause was much lower.

I think this is a brilliant feature too. Plus i'm sure i saw someone else on here say their chairmen got a better deal for a player then they expected. Either way it's an excellent addition imo.

How do you ask the board to negotiate the transfer?

If you have no budget left, you may get the option (in the top right or as part of a scout report iirc) to allow you to negotiate the deal with, and leave it the responsibility of, your chairman to buy the player.

If you have no budget left,

or simply if the player would be a very good addition to the club.

Really? I've only seem to come across it if the player is one I can't afford on my current budget, I dunno.

Thats a great option, I hated having a target who would be better than anyone in your squad by a long way, but the fee wanted was just 100k outside your budget.
