HarryMills
I'd like to see this in the game, for when you'd like to step off the high pressure manager role for a season without resigning. Come back with fresh eyes to a new scenario.
FkVidak1389
The idea is all well and good, but how many managers go on a sabbatical for a a month let alone a year unless it's medically related??
petey_g
It's a possible option I suppose - but I imagine these things are normally done in negotiation with the board and they would only allow that kind of thing to happen if you were a really proven manager who was a favoured personnel and they wanted you to stay no matter what. Or just go on holiday and hope you're ass man is good!
Lockers
And this happens in real life when??? I know you get gardening leave occasionally, but I cant think apart from Glen Roeder a time where a manager was allowed a season off!!!
Fabio MVP
Am not for that idea at all.
Chalky1989
Pretty much never happens. Just go on holiday for a year.
afced7
Well it's been said really. Never happens.
FrazT
Go on holiday for a year?
HarryMills
Yes, but then your useless ass man ruins your painstakingly crafted 20+ year masterpiece and your board hold you responsible. I know it's exceedingly rare, but so are multiple decade long managerial reigns.
afced7
cough Ferguson cough dario gradi cough cough eurgh I should really quit smoking. Now you name somebody who has stayed employed, but basically done nothing for a whole year, and then come back to the same club to continue managing. gazzamark
Yes, but then your useless ass man ruins your painstakingly crafted 20+ year masterpiece and your board hold you responsible. I know it's exceedingly rare, but so are multiple decade long managerial reigns. Surely the same thing would happen if you went on a sabbatical for a year? Who do you reckon would take over? michLo
Really, you going on sabatical and your asst. man. ruining it is the same to you going on holyday and your asst. man. ruining it... And you're responsible eighter way...
jkkne
I don't trust my Assistant Manager to look after the plant in my virtual office nevermind the team for a year. I just know he'd mess it up
Dar2000
Really, you going on sabatical and your asst. man. ruining it is the same to you going on holyday and your asst. man. ruining it This is the simple answer. It's already in the game.
Kenco
Can't see why anyone would even want to do this, is FM really that stressful that you need a year off?
fcunitedfan
Yeah, I don't really get this idea either. What would the purpose of this be?
trekman
Go on holiday for a year? I actually did that once Fraz with Man United. Thankfully I never got the sack because I had a good backroom staff and somehow the club managed to win the FA Cup and Champions League.
Wiitastic
Yes, but then your useless ass man ruins your painstakingly crafted 20+ year masterpiece and your board hold you responsible. I know it's exceedingly rare, but so are multiple decade long managerial reigns. just go on goliday for a season and let the game know for the game to use your tactics & to use the lineup you selected as uch as possible andnot to buy or sell. easy And Martin O'Neill took a season off to look after his ailing wife
BenArsenal
When you take a 'sabbatical' who takes over your job? If it's the Ass Man then it's just like going on holiday isn't it? Don't tell me the world 'stops' when you take your leave.
GioGio85
I really dont think this should be introduced into the game. This doesnt happen in real life football management. A lot can happen to a club in a year. Players and club structures change for both the good and bad. Also, what if in your year off your replacement has won the league? Why would the club want to reinstate you? As a cheat alternative, you could just go on holiday ?
Kenco
Or if football management is stressing you out, just put it back in the box and don't play it for a year, then pick up where you left off. That's the beauty of FM, time doesn't have to continue if you don't want it to.
crouchaldinho
Pretty bizarre suggestion really. What on earth would you want it for?
