Poor morale?

Recommended Posts

I'm managing Sheffield Wednesday and I'm currenly top of the championship with over half of the season gone. However, Daryl Murphy seems to have poor/very poor morale. Despite him being the second top scorer in the league with 18 goals in 27 games, regularly playing and with the possibility of promotion, he seems to continually have a poor morale. I'd expect his morale to be good along with the rest of the squad. Any explanations?

Sometimes morale drops for no apparent reason. We can only speculate. Perhaps he's feeling a pressure to perform? It doesn't have to manifest itself as a SLT concern. When promotion is a done deal his morale will bounce to normal. I've seen it many times.

If you praised him in the media it might have put too much pressure on and lower his morale. This happened to Mark Pritchard in my Brighton game. He was on great form and after scoring two hat-tricks, both against Leicester and their disgrace of a keeper, Paddy Kenny, i praise him and he hasnt scored since. Often missing from a few yards out!

Is he getting targeted by the opposition managers as a dangerman?

He could be very temperamental as these types always seem to deviate from the average squad morale. And when they are low it's bloody difficult to get the morale back up again.

Keep an eye on his morale before and after any interaction to note his responses (increase or decrease or no effect), particularly his morale rating at the full time team talk and whether or not it changes after you confirm your team talk and hit continue (after the first processing burst).

as a follow up to this you may want to check if he is being touted as the 'next nicholas anelka'

The really stupid one is when your star player tutors some 16 year-old oik. It doesn't work out - now for the spotty git to get depressed is one thing, but for your highly professional mature captain to turn suicidal the day before a crucial cup final is just plain daft icon_mad.gif

Add it to deflected free kicks, the corner bug, fullbacks passing to opposition strikers, needing stupid amounts of chances to score in comparison to the AI, the entire board confidence module, an absurd transfer system, laughable defensive clearances/errors, penalties 20 yards off the ball, shocking offside calls, AI strikers being able to head goals from balls played from directly behind them (how?!), magically cracking tactics and ridiculous formations being the cornerstone of tactical success. And that's all on the finalised 8.0.2 product!

FM09 should be a hoot.

Morale should be very hard to shake , "ok" for most of the season with some slight ups and downs , delighted if titles ( club or international) are won and bad if things are not going well at the end .

Football players are hardened professionals often playing in very very hostile environments , the cry cry little girl attitude is simply wrong .

You waffle on about this in every other thread. Why not just start your own thread and limit your moaning to there and leave everybody else to discuss the thread topics rather than your issues with the game?

Why shouldn't bad refereeing decisions be in the game?

Exactly, a good few of his usual moans are part and parcel of football in general yet it's labelled as a bug somehow icon_rolleyes.gif
