Unsure about patch

Firstly an apology if this is ultra basic.

Basically i just bought the game for pc, installed it with no probs, downloaded the 10.3 patch successfully (i think). When i started the game i checked on on the display and sound settings via preferences and it still says i am using version 1 but when i click on check for updates i am told i have the updated version. I want to make sure i am using the updated version before starting a game so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

When you started a new game it should say 10.3

When you start a new game, there should be a box that asks what database you want to load from . Obviously it will be populated with 10.3 if the patch has been installed successfully

When you load up the game before you pick start a new game or load last game click on preferences if it says football manger2010 version 10.3 then you've installed the patch correctly. I might sound like a daft question but you say you downloaded the patch but did you actually install it and did you download the correct version of the patch?
