ChewyFun
What do you mean by this? I think he means Steam has FM11 in the 'strategy' genre. Rather than the 'sport' or 'simulation' catagory. FM10 is listed in 'simulation'
rancer890
Very high price at £39.99. Steam site says US$39.99 or £25.93. That's around CDN$41.15 So same price in US dollars as last year when I bought FM10 iirc.
MSCCG
gonna buy an actual copy instead. Cheapest price going around is around £25 IIRC

TigerTime
Says £39.99 on mine Same. I'm not willing to pay £15 to definately get it on release date so I wont be getting it off steam. Will stick with my Zavvi pre-order.
Aim_Less
Blimey, Aim_Less, that's CoD pricing! Where is "we"? ´ i will explain Steam in Europe is divided in 2 tiers Tier 1: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Netherlands, Sweden or Switzerland. Tier 2: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain or the Vatican City It seems that steam UK is not part of Europe so it uses its own currency and its the only exception because some other countries who don't have euros are forced to pay in euros And for FM only pricing in Spain is also lower due to competition of a game that is more famous there than fm its called PC Futbol, also its sold both in spain and here Here is Fm price in different Steam stores US: $39.99 £ 25.71 UK: £39.99 EU: 49,99€ £41.78 <----------------------Tier 1 and 2 have same pricing with FM AU: $89.99 £ 60.51 another example Worms Reloaded US: $19.99 UK: £17.99 EU tier 1: 19,99€ EU tier 2: 14,99€ AU: $19.99 USD In Fm case rest of Europe apart from Spain and UK pay's 50 euros

N^G
I'd pre order it now if they took it down to £29.99 and dropped the shovelware.

The 92nd Fish
I get the feeling that the price is so high because you're paying for the Megadrive games rather than getting them as a nice bonus for pre-ordering the game. Some of those games were only very recently released onto Steam, so I doubt they'd be giving them away for free. So it's more of a limited period bundle deal than anything else, give it 2/3 weeks and you'll probably see the game drop down to £29.99 without all the megadrive tat (which it mostly is aside from a few good games).
acare84
This game will use Steamworks as DRM like FM 2010 or use Uniloc like Alpha Protocol and FM 2009? Anyone knows this and it is confirmed? If they will use Steamworks like FM 2010 I will pre-purchase the game from Steam.
Clampos
I hope you are right. I am a steam convert and have purchased a few titles from them now. I dont mind paying a little more as you get to play the games on any PC and the automatic update is worth a bit extra....... but not 39.99 when you can buy it for £25. celebritykiller
Very much prefer the convenience of steam, but 39.99 is pushing it a bit tbh. Notcied Civ V has gone down from 40 to 30 quid so you never know.
celebritykiller
price is the same has last year and will remain 50 euros for along time Are you sure? Thought it was 35 quid last year?
Indi75
For £39.99, as much as I like Steam I'll be doing a box copy from whichever is cheapest out of Xavvi online or HMV with my 30% discount. Sad thing is, I almost feel bad buying it from the cheapest outlet this year as I have an abundance of love for FM, SI, and even Steam. That said, there's a lot of games coming this fall and it's time to get all scottish on what comes outta my wallet.
either and or
Wow £40 is nuts. Surely it makes more sense to just get it from zavvi or something for £25? Or am I missing something here?

--b--
agreed, i dont blame steam. most shops will sell at about the same price although in this day and age with the global economy it makes no sense that we pay such different prices. import duties and ecomonies of scale are generally to blame however i cannot see how it justifies such a large difference. thats because it doesnt
Aim_Less
Are you sure? Thought it was 35 quid last year? for the UK yes but for the rest of us no yeah i am sure check the price in January and it will be the same then on March it will only lower wen fm 2012 is announced
tom_numbers
If I were to purchase FM from the UK or US via Steam, then go to Australia, would the game get angry at me once it realised my IP was in a country where I should've paid double? Aim_Less
there is no shipping and import costs in digital goods so its a freaking robbery If I were to purchase FM from the UK or US via Steam, then go to Australia, would the game get angry at me once it realised my IP was in a country where I should've paid double? if your credit card is from australia yes , for avoiding problems you must contact steam support saying that your traveling and there is a chance you buy a game in the US so they don't flag your account has a fraud attempt its a matter of your credit card address

I moved here from the UK this year, and all my games on Steam were bought in the UK. Steam seems happy =)
Indi75
Funnily enough, I'd also rather buy a box and activate through steam than have all that utter ***** in my steam library.
Dumax
Is there anything stopping me from buying FM11 in the UK and getting it shipped to Australia?
thegr8anand
20 classic sega games free playable on PC along with pre-purchase. Not sure if it is worth it.
Matt_no_7
£40 quid?! To hell with that, i got FM 2010 for around £25 and the most i'll stretch to is £30. Never have and hopefuly never will buy through steam.
Indi75
What's to stop me buying it and gifting it to someone in Aus?
D_O_A
What's to stop me buying it and gifting it to someone in Aus? Nothing at all, I suggest Aussies avoid buying this altogether, have someone trustworthy in the US gift it to you or use a VPN and a fake US address to buy from the US store. $89.99 is a bloody joke.
--b--
DOA how do i use a VPN to do this?
D_O_A
http://tinyurl.com/26crneu Step by step guide to doing it, works fine, bit of a pain in the arse to have to do at all, but hey it saves you $50USD, and once you have it setup, it's very easy to use again. BurakUeda
I am living in Japan SEGA is a Japan headquartered company Offering the FM via a digital delivery will not cost them any extra shipping fees. There is no official distributor in here. NOBODY, NO OTHER COMPANY in here are selling the game. NO ONE! So there cannot be any conflict.Yet I still see this message:"This item is currently unavailable in your region" Bullcrap! Cannot be bothered really. Nice job SEGA and SI
gazzamark
I've used Steam the last 2 years so I can play from midnight, but won't this time as I find having steam installed on my computer slows it down something shocking.
tlm_77
Patience my friends, there is always shops selling before the release date. Each year for the past 4 years I've got my copy of the new game at least a day early and paid at most £29.99 - which i can tolorate, especially as it's early. This year will be no different.
George_Spurs
To pay £39.99 for a game on Steam which is available for around £24.99 if you search around is ridiculous. I will no way pay £15 over the odds to buy it on Steam. Steam do this every year, they always think they can mug us off.... well F**k 'em!
N^G
I think SI/Sega/Steam should revisit their policy on the pre-order, its obviously going to cost them quite a few sales via that platform.
DivineOne
The reason I'm going to pay € 49,99 for the game is simple: I want to play it on release day at 0:01h (and Alex Kidd offcourse ).
paganizer
I wanted it on steam, but damn it's overpriced. Will wait and see if the price goes down. I just want FM2011 and not that stupid game pack.
