I've just found a 17 year old German newgen who has the media label "could be the next Kaiser" Now I know you should treat these labels with a big pinch of salt, and everything depends on how he's developed, but could this mean I've unearthed a potential Beckenbauer? His stats look promising for a youngster, and the £8m price tag suggests he might be a future star...

What do you think, should I take a punt?

From what I understand, players get these labels when they play in the same position, and have a similar potential. Player type and specialties are irrelevant. 'The next Koller' could be a midget.

I think its based on size, nationality and position.

Yeah often young players being heralded as being similar to established stars are not actually similar at all. They often play in the same position but thats where the similarities tend to end.

I think what this does mean is that the youngster is a talented one!

He's pretty great for a 17 year old but his price is 3million not 8... is 8 what the club wants?

Anyway, I usually rely more on the wonderkid description then the "can be the next whoever"...

As has been mentioned, I wouldn't assume that this description means he will actually be as good as Beckenbauer. I'd get a few scout reports on him and see what they say about his potential before bidding for him.

Try and offer him a trial. If you get him on a trial, see how he does compared to your better youngsters.

bought the kid. I don't think he's gonna be nearly good enough for my team but it will be a somewhat fun challenge to try and develop him.

I think he looks good. If you have the cash maybe make a cheeky bid. In an ideal world id like him to have higher composure, but he is still young and could become a classy midfielder!

Had to pay quite a bit actually. 16mil. But again, I did for the challenge.

I just don't get why someone with so very little potential would have such a description.

Have you got him on any specialist training? Maybe put him on his own routine to improve his weaker areas? He looks like he should become good so I wouldnt giv up just yet - how old is he anyways?

Of course. I made a personalized training schedule and got him tutored. He's 20 now...
