New laptop please help

Recommended Posts

In terms of fm speed then I would say the two most aspects are the processing speed and the amount of RAM of the computer. I know that is simple - but purely on a speed basis - then if you follow that. I would aviod PC World - high prices, and a bad service - not that I know - but thats what everybody says!

If you have no clue - then making a rash decsion wont help! Its a lot of money do the research! I am no wizz but places like pc world, tesco, and coment are not the best places to go. They will just rip you off. What I said regarding speed above still applies. In relation to a good 3-d picture. Then try and get a laptop with a dedicated graphics card rather than an intergrated one - although my 3-D is fine and I have a intergrated one! That is what the pople on here say anyway - that is not my expertise - but they know what they are talking about.

please take it into consideration that i need a laptop that will run fast, it will last me for a good 3-5 years and still be decent, it will play games like fm11,fifam and sims reasonably, and something that would give me not a decent but good 3d match engine.

I'd go for the first one you've linked to although none of them are that great! When looking for a laptop make sure it has its own dedicated graphics card as shared graphics will just you some of your main memory.

The Hewlett though has 4gb of RAM which is a lot so I doesn't really matter if the graphics cards use some of that.

I'd go for this one from Comet if you're after a cheap gaming laptop http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/647144/HP-DV6-3015?cm_sp=FeatureEnd-_-Laptops-_-position

It has a dedicated graphics card and a 2.5ghz dual core processor. It only has 3gb RAM but that is easily and cheaply updgradeable in the future. I know its slightly beyond your budget, but if you use voucher code "5OFF" then you get a 5% discount bringing it down to £475.

I'm in a similar situation and in need of a new laptop. Obviously the most important thing that this laptop could do is be able to play FM properly. My current thinking is going for this one http://www.ebuyer.com/product/224134.

The main worry at the moment is whether FM11 will require a faster processor (I know FM10 needed 2GHz) and how badly the game's performance will suffer if the laptop doesn't meet the requirements...

It is possible to upgrade the graphics card as long as your current graphics card isn't intergrated. If it is then you can't upgrade. As for the processor, yes you should be able to upgrade it but I reckon it could be a little tricky so you may need an expert to help you upgrade it.
