nev147
In terms of fm speed then I would say the two most aspects are the processing speed and the amount of RAM of the computer. I know that is simple - but purely on a speed basis - then if you follow that. I would aviod PC World - high prices, and a bad service - not that I know - but thats what everybody says! nev147
If you have no clue - then making a rash decsion wont help! Its a lot of money do the research! I am no wizz but places like pc world, tesco, and coment are not the best places to go. They will just rip you off. What I said regarding speed above still applies. In relation to a good 3-d picture. Then try and get a laptop with a dedicated graphics card rather than an intergrated one - although my 3-D is fine and I have a intergrated one! That is what the pople on here say anyway - that is not my expertise - but they know what they are talking about.
nev147
When I said rash - I meant in relation to saying you wanted to order the laptop today or tomorow - if you get the best possible laptop then surely it will be worth an extra few days. nev147
Maybe go and luck in other computer threads on here - and see what they have gone for after advsie in here - that may be the best place to look?
Hugo_Cienfuegos
As a general rule of thumb, I look at PC World prices and beleive I can find the same spec for at least 10% cheaper. Also, Tesco provide superb value. But do you want to feed the capatilist machine? My computer is from Tesco.
Pacman Jones
The hewelett packard with i3. Best out of them. Although there is many other options available then them what about this kinda specs and defo better laptops. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/200621 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/180888 With this being the best of a cheaper bunch http://www.ebuyer.com/product/231420 OR Invest in a macbook, more future proof. Thats what ill be doing
TigerTime
I'd go for this one http://www.ebuyer.com/product/224134 It's got the most RAM and the best processor. Also it comes with Windows 7 64bit and a Ati Radeon graphics card which is a nice bonus.
Pacman Jones
I told you the hewlett packard one was the best :/ if your gonna quote me read it. Its not gonna be majorly future proof. 2 years max
trekman
Lol what does it take to get some help around here.Anyway i shortened my list to 4 laptops can someone please help. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/199196 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/194297 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/224134 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/191611 please take it into consideration that i need a laptop that will run fast, it will last me for a good 3-5 years and still be decent, it will play games like fm11,fifam and sims reasonably, and something that would give me not a decent but good 3d match engine. I'd go for the first one you've linked to although none of them are that great! When looking for a laptop make sure it has its own dedicated graphics card as shared graphics will just you some of your main memory.
TigerTime
I'd go for the first one you've linked to although none of them are that great! When looking for a laptop make sure it has its own dedicated graphics card as shared graphics will just you some of your main memory. The Hewlett though has 4gb of RAM which is a lot so I doesn't really matter if the graphics cards use some of that.
TJJESSE
The acer one can upgrade to 4 gig ram how much would that cost? how good and how old is the Intel Pentium Dual Core T4400 2.2GHz and is ddr3 good or bad Thanks for all the help i think in going for the acer one. But it would be nice if someone can answer my question in the previous post. Thank you
Pacman Jones
ddr3 is the best. the processor mentioned is not the newest and will be outdated. Best to get i3 or core duo
'Arry
I'd go for this one from Comet if you're after a cheap gaming laptop http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/647144/HP-DV6-3015?cm_sp=FeatureEnd-_-Laptops-_-position It has a dedicated graphics card and a 2.5ghz dual core processor. It only has 3gb RAM but that is easily and cheaply updgradeable in the future. I know its slightly beyond your budget, but if you use voucher code "5OFF" then you get a 5% discount bringing it down to £475.
Bristol CityFC1981
So whats the difference between Intel Pentium Dual Core T4400 and Athlon Dual-core?? Is it just that Intel advertise and the others dont??
'Arry
The AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual Core is a better performing processor than the Pentium Dual Core T4400 but is marginally outstripped by the Core 2 Duo.
Bristol CityFC1981
http://www.dealgiant.co.uk/hp-pavilion-g62-a26sa-laptop-review-laptop-deals-specs/ I went for this one, brought it yesterday!! FM is lightening and 3d games works fine!!!
XVIII
I'm in a similar situation and in need of a new laptop. Obviously the most important thing that this laptop could do is be able to play FM properly. My current thinking is going for this one http://www.ebuyer.com/product/224134. The main worry at the moment is whether FM11 will require a faster processor (I know FM10 needed 2GHz) and how badly the game's performance will suffer if the laptop doesn't meet the requirements... TJJESSE
is it possible to upgrade the processor and graphics card on a laptop? (just incase i want to in the future)
TigerTime
It is possible to upgrade the graphics card as long as your current graphics card isn't intergrated. If it is then you can't upgrade. As for the processor, yes you should be able to upgrade it but I reckon it could be a little tricky so you may need an expert to help you upgrade it. TigerTime
Well I never get glitchy regen faces and I have a intergrated intel graphics card which isn't as good as the Ati Radeon one in that laptop.
