Something for the weekend

We've been a bit quiet since the press announcement, apart from a bunch of things being announced on the two Football Manager podcasts that have been released since then (they're still available on iTunes for free if you haven't got them yet), but to celebrate the international matches this weekend, I thought it'd be nice to announce something else just before leaving for England v Bulgaria (damn these Friday evening kick offs!).

So, a lucky dip revealed the following....

(revealed on Friday)

Press Conference revamp – Not just a new look, and not just 150+ new press conference questions, but also all of the previous 500+ press conference questions have been fully reviewed, with possible answers revised where necessary, leading to press conferences being more intuitive and in situ.

(revealed on Saturday)

Newgen revamp – Newly generated players, or newgens as we call them, are now created using a new system that looks at player templates for different styles of player, as well as taking national traits into account, to ensure that the types of player in the game are constant throughout the life of your own saved game.

Squad registration / squad number split – We’ve separated out the squad registration and squad numbering screens, so you can now give squad numbers to players who don’t need to be registered.

(revealed on Sunday)

Match analysis improvements – lots of new options available on the match analysis chalkboard, with offsides, free kicks, corners, throw ins, clear cut chances, half chances all now available to analyse via the system, as well as the option to show match actions for all the players of the team at the same time, rather than having to look at them all separately. There is also a new view for average positions of players during the match and a heat map view showing where they've spent most time on the pitch.

(revealed on Monday)

Set Piece Creator – Much like Football Manager 2010’s Tactics Creator, we’ve now added a Set Piece Creator to the game which allows you to set up your set piece routines in a much more intuitive and user-friendly manner.

(revealed on Tuesday)

In advance of new screenshots which should hopefully be live later on today, another little announcement.

B-Team & Amateur revamp, making them more accurate than ever before. Due to lots of feedback from our community regarding the way that B teams and amateur teams work in the game compared to real life, we’ve revamped them make them more accurate than ever before, including the chance to set up your own clubs B team at the start of the season in appropriate leagues.

It'll be worth checking back on this thread (or on footballmanager.com) over the weekend if you want to know a few more things – to find out when they go live, just follow Sports Interactive on Twitter, or join the official Facebook group at www.facebook.com/officialfootballmanager - there won’t be lots of announcements, but at least one a day. And new screenshots on Tuesday too!

And here are said new screenshots - you can find them at either

http://www.facebook.com/officialfoot...d=262490537615

or

http://www.footballmanager.com

That's it for now - no more announcements for a bit, although I'm doing around 20 interviews in the next 2 days, so some of that will get published soon. No idea when the blogs will be starting yet, and those will be the next time you get to hear any other new stuff, except for the likelyhood of some stuff via feature roulette on the 3rd episode of this series of the FM podcast which should be out on Friday.

Great news! People wanted the revamp of the press-conferences and they got it! Cheers for the great news and looking forward to more.

Has anything been done about offering players out on loan. Im mean only offering to teams that will actually play him. Im sick of having to reject hundreds of backup offers. Also if you could just target the loans to certain leagues that would be good aswell.

hey every one id just like to say im looking forward to fm 2011 and so farfrom what ive herd on podcasts and such the new features are g-r-e-a-t however i fink more could be done with wages othe than the manager leaderboard thing (tbh i never take notice of it ) for example when u sign a new player theirs always that languae barrier thing well in the summer we could spend our wages on langage turors perhaps ? also LOVE the idea of animations in background of stadium i hate the basic green thing thats their now hope england do well tonight and look forward to watfords visit to oawkell miles.

Why do you bother asking, knowing full well your question will not be answered?

Great! i think many people are refreshing the forum without any news, now at least one thing a day.

Can't wait for the screenshots on Tuesday.

from today (this weekend too) there will be one news (or thing) each day? i've understood only this weekend...great!

Well, there are 5 Fridays in October for possible release.

I suggest the 15th of October because it's really nicely in the middle AND it's nearer than the 29th which is far too long away! Nearly 8 weeks!

6 weeks feels AND sounds better...

Well, it doesn't sound like press conferences have been re-made from scratch, but a review of past questions & their answers (some of those were really awkward and strange!) plus some new stuff will make this once more an interesting feature. Still, I predict that press conferences will be okay for two or three seasons, then I'll delegate it again to my assman because I've seen and heard everything.

Im glad that ones in. I always found it annoying that I could only give so many squad numbers. I really cant wait for the game to come out. :D

Both great new features. You've certainly pleased a lot of people this year SI.

More great news indeed. There is one question I'd like to ask regarding press-conferences in FM11, do all the answers to the questions in the press-conferences have effect or just the one that is taken out of the press-conference after the press-conference? I hope you understood my question.

Cheers.

Sounds fantastic, but will this just be based entirely off the players nationailty? What happens to e.g. a French player that comes through the ranks at an English club? What happens if I'm an English club but fill my staff with Brazilians - will I get Brazilian style regens coming through? Do feeder clubs affect this aswell?

Very interesting questions. Would like to answers to them myself.

I am not sure what this means. From what I understand, it goes the way Miles already announced before in a podcast or somewhere : nationality will impact the attributes for re/newgens. So for those who followed, we knew this already didn't we ? Also, for example if Brazilian will be technical, English tactical (French losers, Italian chicken) and so on, won't there be a problem ? I mean first when playing in a league players will all look alike a bit, especially at a same position & same level (CA). So not very diversified. Second, if one of the specific attribute (technique, tactic, strength, and so on) has a better impact than another one, there will be bias in National competitions (might be an aim, and so Spain would have the best attribute, then Holland, Germany, Brazil and so on), in European competitions (clubs included) and in players we ll look for (I think this is the aim).

So far I am on wait & see for this one.

Same as Press conference tbh. The 150 new questions (about +35%) ok nice even though I don't think I ll see a difference, as it's been a while I haven't read one. My Ass Man will be happy though :D. Now for the new look, this is the most important question. What will it look like ? Any idea ? No clue has been disclosed anywhere so far I think ? So I ll be on a wait & see as well before .. jumping for joy (?)

Regarding the squad thing. I am not sure to understand what the problem was (if somebody can explain further ?). However, it makes me think SI definitely looks at our suggestions and wishes, so for this reason this is the best announcement I ve read this WE so far :)

I'm glad the newgens have been improved, as that was the biggest bugbear with FM10, and ultimately the reason that I put it back on the shelf and didn't touch it since before Christmas.

Can't be fussed about the press conferences, I still won't do them, pointless feature to be honest once you've done 2 press conferences.

Regarding the regen thing. What he means is that there will be template for each position such that e.g. defenders will generally have higher attributes in their defending attributes. This will then be combined with national templates such that e.g. brazilian defenders are more technical than, say english.

I'm not sure I like the regen nationalities thing announced in the podcast. It might be nice in the short term, but in 20 years, Brazil will probably have more specialist defenders as they look to evolve tactically, England will have evolved coaching-wise completely, Africans from the Sahel could have better diets and be stronger. It's nice short term, but nations don't stay still. Hungary don't produce world class, highly technical playmakers any more, just Zoltan Gera. Brazil have some good goalkeepers and are arguably stronger defensively (as individuals at least) than at any previous time in their history. The Netherlands have gone from Total Football to players of limited ability playing to their best at very specified roles, allowing a couple of individuals to blossom.

I think it's a good idea. Be a bit hard to implement dynamic nationality templates though. I agree somewhat but it's going to be a bit hard to predict how they'll turn out in the future, this really is the best way to keep the long term playability of the game.

national traits?

so i take it that means newgens from belarus won't have as much falir as newgens from brazil miles?

Yes it does. It'd be even nicer if these traits changed over time.

Nah, i'm glad they don't change.

Each country has its own footballing culture which reflects on the style of football people play.

All it means is that certain geographical areas which produce a more common type of player.

South Americans will have higher flair, Mediterranean players will have good technique, northern European players will be known for their work rate and determination, african players will have greater physical attributes etc etc.

It doesn't mean ALL players will be like this, just that it will offer a template.

You'll still get an English player with world class technical stats and flair, just like you'll get a brazilian player with great physical attributes and high work rate and determination - and an African player with crap pace and strength, but great technical ability.

It just makes it more realistic that the majority of players from a particular country reflect the footballing philosophy of the nation.

this from FM facebook.........

Match analysis improvements – lots of new options available on the match analysis chalkboard, with offsides, free kicks, corners, throw ins, clear cut chances, half chances all now available to analyse via the system, as well as the option to show all of the players match actions at the same time, rather than having to look at them all separately.

I just saw it on http://www.footballmanager.com/ and it's nothing new IIRC, as it's been already announced in of the two FM11 podcasts.
