We have all done it at some point, or maybe not all of us, but we have all heard of the man who got wasted and sold his entire team for £2.50 and signed a non-leaguer for £27m plus add-ons, but when you reach for the drink when you play FM - what is your drink of choice - i'll get us started, with none other than Sailor Jerry Spiced Caribbean Rum & Coca Cola - liquid heaven! Over to you!

Tap water, hehe. Honestly, I dont usually consider it the type of game to drink alcohol with, if I did though, it'd probably be a can of stella or perhaps if I feel particularly extravagant a bottle of some sort of ale or wheat beer.

I partake in the delicious extravagence of a bourban know as Elijah Craig. To this wondorous liquid gold, I mix an amount of coke cola.

If I am feeling cheap though I go JD and Coke. If I am broke, just the coke.

Drinking alcohol while playing FM doesn't work for me. I absurdly click the continue button without realizing what I am actually doing :P I need to be focused so I don't screw things up more than they already are so Water or Green tea is perfect.

usually coffee. Occasionally a Southern Comfort, but in recent weeks I've had the odd mint, green or camomile tea. I'm getting old...

fatboyjohnmulhern
30-08-2010, 15:35
If I could choose it would be Pespi Max with a lot of ice, in my favourite plastic pint glass.
However, because it maybe bad for your teeth, and that apparently its costs too much, most often it will be tap water.
I have a few times come back after clubbing, and drunkenly played FM, which then leads to me passing out on the keyboard. (Once my chin was carefully placed on the space bar, meaning I flew past the days, fortunately one of my players was ineligible for a match so it didn't ruin my game lol.)

Green tea - stimulates the mind and allows you to feel fresher for longer periods.
Also keeps hunger at bay, thus lessoning the need to leave ones computer chair for unneccessary food breaks.

mdbussen
30-08-2010, 16:04
Generally single-malt scotch or a Sam Adams

My friends and I have been known to play a drinking game with Goldeneye (N64) however. I highly recommend it to anybody who happens to still have that game and system. Waterfall from highest score to lowest score after the conclusion of each game. Slap kills are a shot each. Then you can get really wild and play proximity mines or rockets and have self-kills worth a shot each as well :)

The games get progressively more fun for obvious reasons!

BroxBorough
31-08-2010, 09:11
Diet Coke probably, it's what I generally drink anyway, not sure why that'd change when playing FM. When I was younger and the drinking of alcohol was frowned upon by mummy and daddy, I finished off a crate of Fosters left over from Christmas whilst pulling a week of all nighters.

Igorchete
31-08-2010, 09:19
I don't enjoy drinks with FM that much, only coffee in the morning while i play FM and energy drinks for the all-nighters.
What i really enjoy with FM is a good cigar.

Alan A Wadge

Thought I'd have a go the other night at finishing my season after the best part of a bottle of wine and managed to lead my table-topping Leeds to a 5-1 defeat to 19th place Middlesbrough after an inspired formation change. So usually tea.

you know what, 2 days after creating this thread, it has made me quite happy to see the classy individuals enjoying alcohol with a fine game such as Football Manager - and as I raise a glass to it, and to you all, I say "cheers!"

Generally, any lager works for me. I've found wine to produce the most ill-considered strategic decisions (not to mention the worst hangovers) and as such will tend to steer clear.
