Cup Draw, just an idea

Hey all,

What do you think to the idea of an interview after a cup draw? Say you are Macclesfield and you draw away at Chelsea. You see managers giving interviews?

I'm not sure about that really.

You can play upto 20 cup games a season depending on which league you are in. Would lose it's "fun" element after a couple of interviews.

If it was based on reputation aye - so 2 big clubs meet early on = interview or lowly club meets huge club at any point then interview for lowly club manager.

a bit like the champions league draw? they have interviews then but it is normally the chief executives of a team and not the manager but a nice idea.

Tough.....the fact is these things are integral part of Football Management. FM is a simulation, and thus will incorporate these types of features to some degree.

I don't think interviews after draws are that common IRL, are they?

Champions League being the exception. But then the Champions League draw is one big gala event with all attending, so I suppose it's a bit easier for interviews. Even then they don't actually say much.

If they're anything like press conferences, I say no.

It may not be a press conference but a quick interview, say if your a lowly team and the draw is after your match, they interview the manager. Not after every game just a big name tie or two top teams? Etc

There should be an option like: [ X ] Pull a SAF, turn off press interviews.

Might be nice if I didn't know just how boring it would be in the game, judging from the press conferences.

But maybe one question for the usual PCs which could bring in a bit more variation

Anything like current press conferences would get far too tedious far too soon.

New for FM11 - FA/Prem League fines for managers (like SAF) who do this ? just an idea, would add to the realism (other than currently the Premier League haven't fined SAF for refusing to speak to the BBC even though they said they would.)

So we get fined for finding the press conference boring and repetitive?

Press conferences have too much effect on the match, one bad word from you Ass Man and you could lose 5-0, won't risk it.

This was mentioned in another thread - Ferguson refuses to speak to the BBC post-match on Match of the Day/Five Live, he doesn't refuse to do press conferences.

The fines he's getting don't cover press conferences so it would be wrong to include them in-game.

I don't see what it would add to the gameplay aside from "realism" that bores the hell out of 99% of the players. The less interviews/press conferences, the better.

I don`t mind the interviews/press conferences, as long as they are refreshing, innovative and interesting. They also need to have some sort of effect in-game, but right now most of it is dreadfully predictable and it has little to no effect as far as I have experienced. I would rather have them have more variety in terms of questions and a realistic effect based on answers.

I can't be bothered with talking at press conferences, so I always send my minion - he's Togolese, so he'll speak some French at them. Hehe.

Edit: Darn, he's just picked up basic English. It better be very basic.
