Confused! Please Help!

Right, I just downloaded FM10 and I started it up, and a error message comes up saying 'Couldn't find data folder! Data/sigfx' nevertheless once I click ok, it goes into the game, but nice that happens the screen is just black...any suggestions??

Make sure that your computer meets the min specs for the game and that your graphics card drivers, directX, Java and Windows are all fully updated.

Sigfx seems to contain all the graphics. Have you actually checked that the folder is still where it should be?

Did you download it and then put it on a DVD?

No, bought the disk, put it in the computer then installed it

You think? I take it you have just got it seeing as you say in your OP you have 'just' downloaded it. Something not adding up here.

When I said downloaded I meant installed! I thought it was the same thing. The point is its not working and it's annoying me is there anyone who could help?!

have you tried applying the newest patch, 10.3 patch. You will need the boxed version of it, not the digital download

How do I download 10.3 patch?

Reinstall the game?

I dont think this is the problem but I would seriously consider getting more RAM for your computer. From your report you probably have 512MB Ram. Not enough really, especially when you have a Pentium 4 2.8ghz. Even if you upgraded to 1GB RAM you would notice the difference. I would go for 2GB though just to be safe. Obviously 4GB if your Motherboard supports it and you can afford it.

Okay thanks, would that cure the problem though? Because I have been waiting for ages to play it and it's really hacked me off that it isn't working!

Yeah, each time it just comes up with a black screen when i load the game, or it just says processing please wait

processing please wait means its working, your ram will be running the game pretty slow so it may just be taking ages to load

Well 2 hours and no response may say otherwise haha, all the other football managers worked fine aswell!

Just out of curiosity, download the demo and see if that works. If it does then its probably not the game and more probably your computer specs.

Your graophics card drivers are nearly 5 years old so start by updating them. Make sure that you also uodate directX, Java and Windows. As has been said above, you have very little RAM and most of what you have is being used by background applications before starting the game, so you will probably struggle with game speed if and when you get it running.

TBH, You yould be quite lucky to get any modern game even working with 512mb RAM and integrated graphics.

Given the price of new computers today, there is little benefit in updating an old machine. Any mid range computer today with at least a 2GHz dual core processor, more than 2 GB RAM and a dedicated graphics card should be OK.
