x42bn6
Processor speed is just one thing. What about your RAM (how much, how fast).

cliff7197
If that's the PC you have, then why not try it and find out? After all, an acceptable speed to you might not be what anyone else calls acceptable. And as x42bn6 says, RAM can be as important as processor speed.
Klimowicz
RAM does seem more important, when i upgraded to 1280MB RAM i was able to do a whole season, and saves loaded much faster. i've only got an Athlon 2900XP, but i can run Half Life 2 without lag, for example. adamjordan
my pc more powerful then any of yours
x42bn6
Then you could probably run 20 leagues without much problem, I think, or even more. 8Gb is overkill even for, say, Crysis. Has anyone tried running this many leagues?
adamjordan
should be running all leagues mate
x42bn6
I'd note, though, that after a few years, you are going to have one huge game that will inevitably take ages to load.

Try to run around 20 leagues (most of them on view only) and you should be ok. I tried it with 30 but it was pointless because it was only slower and i didnt have more fun with more leagues loaded. *tried it on a 3.2 ghz quad. Don't brag about your PC because your manhood may be half the size of anyone elses...and that's whats important in life. Not to mention your IQ. As for what you can run, well I have a PC half the glorious specage of your beast and I run all the big European nations (all leagues), USA, Australia and then Scandinavia and the British Isles (I think that's it). I then run a lot of the Commonwealth, the rest of Europe and a few odds and sods as 'load all players from'. My game is a little slow to save and takes its time to process in the first couple of years. Five years on and it's slow to load up, getting slower to process and doesn't take much longer to save. That said I would say you could run all of that plus a great deal more with your beast. Trial and error works wonders . If it starts to slow down in the 16th year then start a new save. rekluse
My CPU is quite a bit faster than yours, 3.4ghz OC'd, plus I have high performance ram and HDD. I run with 55-65 leagues (65 for LL game, 55 for normal), with all major leagues on playable and max detal. I don't have any slow down til about 15 seasons in, then I compress. acidmonkey
building a machine to run vista you put 1gb in for vista then you put memory for what you want in, so basically youve got 7GB of memory for a easy ball park figrue, with 1gb dealing with vista, also you do know if your not running vista 64 most of your RAM is a waste of time, think its about 4 gb vista 32 will deal with then the rest gets ignored. Jamie543
yea i believe vista 64 can run FM. Also u cant install vista with more then 2gb ram installed as the install fails due to a coding error in the installer u have to patch vista to get the ram to work

Jamie543
u have to take some ram up to make it 2 gigs while installing then once installed do all windows updates then turn pc off and install rest of ram
acidmonkey
it only has problems if 3 things are true,so if your computer isn't running Storport miniport driver, or it isn't using a controller that uses 32-bit DMA, then you won't see any problem. Jamie543
opps it should be you have to take some ram out to make it 2 gigs while installing vista then once installed do windows updates power machine down then install the rest of the ram
