robertcornell68
My scouts have uncovered a young goalkeeper with PA four and a half stars, dead cheap but his personality is "spineless" - which I've never seen before. Can I make him grow a spine? What are the disadvantages of a spineless GK? And would you take a chance?

Cougar2010
Spineless is a really bad personality. From the personality guide you can see that his pressure is only 1 and determination is <10. You can presume his other traits are fairly average as well as if he had higher levels they would have taken precedence in the description eg Fairly Professional. Personally I wouldn't bother with him as he is unlikely to ever get close to his PA especially as he is a GK.
T3APOT
I never knew personalities could make that much difference in game.
robertcornell68
So the opposite of spineless is resilient. How much difference could the right tutor make? I'm tempted to buy him, just to see how he turns out.

I'm tempted to buy him, just to see how he turns out. Probably not enough. A lot depends on his age but it would take probably 4-5 seasons of good tutoring to get him anywhere near decent and by that time you will have lost a lot of potential training. I had a casual striker on FM09 I worked hard on but in the end I released him when he was 22yo.
dontask
you need brave goalkeepers, those who will come after the ball in a crowd of players or dive at a strikers feet. spineless is pretty much the opposite of what you want

Not enough. Spineless players should just be avoided.

Chalky1989
Sign him if he's cheap, then sell him on later.
