Buying Co-Owned Players

I have been trying to buy a co-owned player. There are buttons to make bids to both clubs, so I made bids which were both accepted. However the transfer did not appear to progress to contract negotiations. I have been having problems with the multiple bid bug with this player but had used the workaround where you cancel all bids in the transfer centre and then start afresh. In the normal course of things, once both bids have been accepted should you automatically go on to contract negotiations? I am a little confused as this ended up being right at the end of the transfer window and the transfer was cancelled due to time running out. However before the deadline I definitely had both bids accepted but was not given a chance to offer a contract. Normally you get the two news items at the same time don't you?

I'm pretty certain you have to go on the players profile and then manually offer him the contract.
