jod123 Posted July 22, 2010 Share Posted July 22, 2010 The Champions League qualifiers were changed a couple of seasons ago. Now the qualifiers are split into teams that are league champions of their country that don't automatically qualify for the Champions League such as Bohemians (champions of Ireland), Rosenborg (champions of Norway), Anderlecht (champions of Belgium) and so on. The other section of teams includes teams from bigger footballing nations that have not automatically qualifed such as Tottenham this year, Sevilla, Werder Bremen and so on. 5 teams from each section qualify for the Champions League. The best placed playoff is the final qualifying round with the winner progressing to the group stages. As a loser in this stage, though, you will now go into the Europa League.
