Quick Steam Problem

After installing FM2010 using steam and being asked for my username and password (I already installed it when I first bought the game last October but had to reinstall my pc recently) steam logs on and then proceeds toshow me that football manager is not downloaded and I ned to download it. As the file is 2.something GB, and is taking forever to download isn't there a way I can use the cd already in the drive to get the files rather than downloading all that?

No Steam downloads the install from a server and not the CD, so the only other option is to get to a faster connection and install the game onto steam with your account from there.

Fuuuuu. You sure about that mate. I'm not sure as it was a while ago the last time I installed the game but I don't think it took this long so assumed it downloaded from the cd.

Steam downloads games from its server, I'm fairly sure of that (I've been following the big Steam debate about CivV, and thats what it did for me when I ported over to Steam back in January).

nope.... cd in the drive.. run it...

installs the games core files from the cd and then steam just updates ..

so yes.. install from cd

Is that the offline method, because if so I've already used the steam method.

Are you sure it's trying to download the full game? If you install from the CD using the Steam method, it should install the game, but you will have to download the latest patch from Steam. The patch is nowhere near 2GB though.

Nah, I'm sure mate. Anyways, it's all moot now as the file has finally downloaded, after nearly 24 hours nonstop. Cheers.
