A Laptop For FM...YES, ANOTHER ONE OF THESE THREADS!!

Recommended Posts

So, I'm looking at getting a new laptop, as the one I got 5 years ago for a measley £300 is finally giving up the ghost.

Obviously I'd like to use the laptop for other things (web browsing, making music etc.) but I'm pretty sick of being locked in my room on my PC just for FM, especially with the rare nice weather we're having!!

I've drawn up a list of laptops I'm interested in, but if anyone has any recommendations for one for a similar budget then I'm all ears. Also, if anyone knows any other cheap laptop sites I'd be eternally grateful...well, not eternally...but I'll raise my glass of juice to you and briefly nod my head.

Bear in mind you'll need a half decent graphics card, one of the best places to check their capabilities compared to other cards is here - http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html

you only need the graphics card for the 3D. Ive got a laptop and a desktop both with on-board and play the game fine without 3D

Thanks a lot for the replies! I'd like to play it with the 3D preferably, it adds alot more to the game for me.

The £349 one is within my budget, could you recommend a £400 one that is worth the £50 more? I'd appreciate it.

hey.. this laptop is about the best ive seen on the market for £400..

for your extra £50 , you get ...

better processor ( ok its entry level dual core , but for the money its solid and reliable without going into the hundreds for a better core 2 duo)

more memory (4Gb rather than 3)

a great 500Gb harddrive

and the graphics card is more than good enough to run 3d in fm.... my friend has the same integrated chip in his laptop and he plays games like crysis at a decent framerate)

if anyone can find better for the money i will probably end up buying their suggestion myself
