Will 2D ever be removed?

I'd be interested to know this, and also the amount of people who use 2D. I prefer it, tactically it's much clearer and also is a little less needy when it comes to my laptop's resources.

So I presume there are no future plans to drop 2D? At least, not in FM11?

I wouldn't imagine so. I mean the commentary only mode from the pre-2d days is still there now.

I now use 3D because my latest laptop doesnt lag when using 3D but I've recently been playin FM 2008 and have been loving the 2D. Surely they have to keep this option for the future games because people with low spec computers or noteboks will be able to play it without it jumping all over the place

I think that the 2D will be there for several editions to come, maybe never be dropped. We never know what lays in the future.

i shouldnt think it will be removed for a long time, a lot of people prefer it/have to use it and i cant imagine it takes up a significant ammount of coding time every year relative to the 3d engine, its pretty good as it is.

The more ways to view the match the better

I always use 2D even though my PC can run 3D well....just don't like 3D don't know why.

They better not remove 2D. I can run 3D if I want but its still rubbish. 2D gives a much better overview of the tactical picture and 3D needs to improve massively before I'll consider it again.

Don't real managers use this "dot" technolgy when training the team about tactics and positional responsibilities!?

Always used 2D, can't get a feel for positions and tactics if i use 3D

2D if for the purists! Better for the studing of tactics. Not that is works for me, but I try!

I highly doubt it, there are far too many people who still use it. Even if there wasn't, it would probably stay just like commentary only mode has stayed.

If SI remove 2D match engine I doubt I will keep on playing FM.

Sometimes more realism is NOT wanted. We love 2D!!!!!

The game will die without 2D. Honest.

My PC cant really handle 3d very well, and i just prefer 2d anyway.

2D is a necessary feature of Football Manager. I doubt SI will ever remove this......

personally i dont use 2D so i wouldn't mind it being dropped

Superstition hits me with 2D, I always seem to do better when using 2D. Cannot get into 3D at all unfortunately.

Personally I don't use it but there's no reason it should ever be dropped. After all, you're just displaying existing 3D data in a 2D display, it's nothing difficult or resource-hungry code wise.

But it should still be kept, mainly because laptops etc dont really have the power to run 3d very well.

What nonsense. Many laptops these days can run 3D very well, I have one.

As pointed out above though I just don't like 3D and 2D gives me a better tactical picture. And thats the reason it should be kept in.

It's not really nonsense. Sure, a lot of laptops do have decent enough specs to run the 3D but your basic 'cheap' laptops that a lot of people go for don't have decent graphic capabilities.
