How to get Rooney scoring?

In the England squad, I mean i play him as a lone striker in a 4231 formation and he never seems to score. Am i doing anything wrong?

Try playing him as a Complete Forward on support, did well for me in the World Cup

Not sure TBH mate, he scores loads for me when playing as a lone striker...in any role. Not so good when he has a strike partener. I play him as a Advanced Forward on attack.

Try to get your wingers to cross less and play more through balls, that should help

I always used Rooney as a Poacher and he has scored most of the time

Put him as a Poacher, target man with the supply set to run onto ball. Get your midfielders trying through balls regularly and sit back and watch him destroy teams

talk about wasting a players talent so your idea of using rooney is have him stand about waiting to punce on a chance.

get some average player to do that not someone as good as rooney

Aye when I think of a Poacher I think of say, Theo Walcott.

"Stand there and wait for the ball. Then run towards the goal and kick it. That's your job."

I've used Rooney as a poacher too, and he will score so many because he gets so many good chances that he won't waste.

But to get more from him all-round, he's best as a complete forward on attack either on his own or next to an advanced forward or target man (support).

He's definitely not a poacher! Reserve that for Jermain Defoe.

I'd back the 'Support' shouts. I had trouble with Ibrahimovic getting involved in games as he'd just get crowded out and couldn't find any space.

So i dropped him deeper as Deep Lying Forward (Support) to get him involved more and there was a noticable improvement in his goals, assists and ratings.

Zlatan's brilliant as an advanced forward alongside a complete forward..
