I don't speak the language of what is in the game, but it looks like it is a European playoff system in Greece. Might it be that AEK started with three points due to finishing higher in the leagues? Check the rules of the competition.

I've chekced my game and see some strange point totals for the play-off - nothing in the rules to show why though.

In the play-off for UEFA Champions League, the teams play each other in a home and away round robin. However, they do not all start with 0 points. Instead, a weighting system applies to the teams' standing at the start of the play-off mini-league. The team finishing fifth in the Super League will start the play off with 0 points. The fifth place team’s end of season tally of points is used to calculate the sum of the points that other teams will have. The point difference of each of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th team from the fifth place team is then divided by five(if the result is a decimal number it is then rounded to a full number, with .5 or more being rounded up) and the resulting number respectively for each team is the number of points with which they will start the mini-league.

So in the case Andehlson mentions above the other three teams finished within 2pts of oeach other as 2/5 is less than 0.5 and would round down and you finished 13-17pts ahead of them as any of those divided by 5 would give you a 3pt head start.

One word......why?

Either have a mini-league with all teams starting on equal points, a knock-out system like the CHampionship Play-off or just let the team in 2nd qualify.

It will be to give the better teams in the league throughout the whole season a reason to continue playing even once they have guaranteed a slot in the playoffs, give you an advantage for a good season rather than a knockout system where even the last placed team starts on equal grounds.

Just seems far too complex.

When did this playoff thingie start, anyway? I managed Panathinakos in FM07, and there wasn't this stuff.... not to mention, t's annoying playing 6 matches in 2 weeks XD

Yeah the points system is weighted towards those that finished higher in the league, as someone quoted from Wiki. This season for example, Olympiakos had a 4 point advantage and finished bottom on 8 points, which was very enjoyable. On my game the same happened to Panathinaikos.
