Ozzy38 Posted June 17, 2010 Share Posted June 17, 2010 Nearly 15 years and 4 months in the making for myself and Spurs... 1) Won the Charity Shield, thrashing the 2nd best team in the Premier League (Man Utd). 2) Won the League Cup with my youngsters/second-string. 3) Won the Premier League with 3 games left (considering I had a goal difference that required a 25-goal swing to beat), fighting off shock title contenders West Ham as well as Man Utd and sneaky Chelsea. 4) Won the FA Cup, including beating Chelsea, who we dominated but lost to on penalties in the final last year, on penalties after a similar story in the semis. 5) Most storybook of all - The Champions League, after years of under-performance and early knockouts in the first KO round. Beat last year's Spanish Treble winners Valencia in the first knockout round, then the team who knocked us out two years ago (Nice), then Barcelona in the semis, who showed us we weren't ready last year by beating us 4-1 I think. Then beat Man Utd 1-0, but it could've been 3-0, 1-1, 2-1... WOOP WOOP!!!! All this in an African Nations year (my star player, who finished the season with most goals and assists, my star left back and two of my three January world class signings were African). And having to drop my keeper a few games into the season for conceding so much, only to come back to him by dropping the other keeper for too many mistakes in April or March. Phew. Now to look forward to the 2022 World Cup and the 2010 World Cup... And wonder if there's anyone to buy with what may well now be a £400m+ transfer budget... (Yes I'm sure YOU'VE done it too or gone an entire season unbeaten or something, I'm just celebrating my non-cheating/super-tactic FM 2007 epic season.) I can post this as the season's over so no jinxing is to be had. Unless we get relegated next season or, worse, my computer or game dies. Please don't. Lower Leagues Rule Posted June 17, 2010 Share Posted June 17, 2010 A great achievement there Ozzy, Congrats on it all. I have just also had my best season ever. I am playing as Lusitano de Evora (A third Division Portuguese Club), in the last season we defeated Varzim to win the Portuguese Super Cup, then won the Liga Sagres with 6 games remaining, won the Portuguese Cup and Portuguese League Cup. My league games featured my reserves for 20 of the 30 games as I aimed to win the Champions League, which I met Man U in the final and managed to take the victory and I celebrated for hours on end. In my latest season I am trying to go three better, I have already won the European & Portuguese Super Cups, the Club World Championship. We are leading the league, leading in our two leg semifinal of the Cup over Nacional and leading the Champions League Quarterfinal 5:1 over Inter after the home leg. And to top it off I took over Brazil near the end of the year and we have the 2030 world cup coming up, and then my new stadium named after me will be completed just prior to the final... (If thats a jinx I will cry). Good lord! Well done, may I ask how many years you needed to get past Sporting and Porto? I'm currently with Feierense, took them over 5 years ago midway of the season. They where in Liga Vitalis. After 2 seasons I managed to win the league and got promoted, but straight relegation was the outcome (well my error really, I sold 5-6 starters and hoped to get better ones on free but not many players were interested). After 1 season I won the league again, promoted again. Now I'm in January and I'm 10th in the league and if I can keep up my form I can evade relegation which will be an achievement. This is a carrier game so I started from scratch and earned my place here, don't want to leave the franchise but I can see the struggle ahead of me and when I see those clubs and the amount of talent they got I wonder how long I do have to wait to achieve even greater things. I spent 2 seasons in the 2nd Division South, victory and promotion followed Then it took 6 seasons to get through the Liga Vitalis, though I was in contention from season 2. The following season in the Liga Sagres I fought hard to tenth as I changed almost my entire squad in the offseason, season 2 I fought harder got 5th and Euro Cup entry before I was really ready, this resulted in 3rd season hangover and we dropped to 9th. Climbing back to 5th, and 3rd the next two seasons made the entire club look hopeful, we then managed to surprise everyone as we took out the title. It then was 6 straight titles before we managed to win the Champions League. I have added below my clubs history if you want a look. I know, achieving this feat on the edition regarded as the best FM and in the Top 2 of CM/FM's history (along with CM 01/02) just makes it better. any screenshots? What would you like to see?
