Which player is better?

OK, I have a theoretical question to ask which I have been wondering about a long time. Let us use 2 strikers as an example here.

For example, if one striker as a CA and PA of 1 or even 10, but his important stikers' attributes like finishing and anticipation are 20, is he a better striker than one who has a CA and PA of 200 but the player's stikers' attributes like finishing and anticipation are only 1?

The same case applies for defenders, midfielders and goalkeeprs. Are attributes more important than CA/PA and does the game give more weight to attributes?

Ca does not affect performance it is just a refelction of the amount and distribution of attributes

so a striker with high finishing will use up many CA points foe this stat, with his tackling will contribute very little

But using FMRTE for the sake of exploring the game further, my assistant gave my player with a CA of 1 but his key attributes of being 20 3 1/2 stars!

Of course, there is no competition when a player has a CA of 200 plus having his key attributes of 20 being 5 stars! :D

CA is calculated by using a combination of the attributes that are considered to be important for a particular position. It is therefore impossible that a striker with a finishing attribute of 20 will have a CA of 1, so what you have done has corrupted the way the game gives you information.

To answer your original query- game performance is calculated using the players attributes and not his CA/PA so attributes are what matter.

If you edited a player using FMRTE to have CA of 1 but lots of attributes at 20 then after a short time (not sure if its a couple of days or a few weeks) the game will adjust all of the players attributes down so they reflect the players CA.

Does this work the other way round, ie. if you increase a player's CA then his attributes increase?

They will not, the attributes have weightings, so some are worth more than others, with some unimportant ones being total free for each position. If you search through this site you will find some very big threads from FM09 where a lot of people did a lot of research on the various weightings.

That wont work either, mate.. The CA calculation puts a positive weighting onto important attributes and a negative one onto less important ones. Only SI know what these weightings are and what the CA calculation code is and they are not telling anyone.
