If you create a game and have the host keeping ticket the "run as server" option, then just go online, load the game in FM and look up your IP on the game status screen.

If your mate then types that into the join network game section then he'll easily be able to join. It's pretty simple really and I'm doing that with two mates for years now already :)

Just make sure that both managers use a password when creating them, otherwise the host has control of both teams immediately after loading the game each time.

The only thing you have to do is to set your port-forwarding right and to make sure you have an internal IP too. That's covered in the FAQ which Fraz directed you at already. :)
