Joint record international appearances

I'm manager of Ivory Coast in 2014. For a while now, both Kolo Toure and Didier Zokora have been tied on caps. They've also both been tied for the record number of caps (stands at 110 now).

Under the history of Ivory Coast, it says Toure has the most. However, every so often (they both play every game), I'll get a news piece (or press conference question) mentioning that one (e.g. Zokora) will break the record of the other. Sure enough, they both play, and then I receive a news item saying that Zokora has broken the record apps, and his name will then be listed in the history.

This isn't too bad, although it seems to be happening almost every other match, which is kind of annoying, as it always quotes the other as being pleased to pass on the record, even though they haven't.

Has anyone else had a similar situation where people have been tied for record apps, and keep breaking their own record, yet the owner of the record keeps getting switched?

Nope, but you could just drop one of them for a game and then go back to playing both of them all the time.
