Reserves Vs U18s

I have a few very promising players which have come through my teams youth system and i was wondering if the reserve league or the u18s league would help them develop better.

Also would it be a good idea to keep them in U18's and make them available for reserves so they play for both teams.

I think that everyone in the U18 is available for the reserves automatically. My U18 keeper plays for the reserves and I've never bothered to make any from the U18s available.

Because there is such a gap between games in the reserves, I always arrange friendlies for the season for them, give them a game a week.

reserve games would probably be more of a challenge for them, playing against older players and players coming back from injury etc, whilst the U18s would give them games against their own age group and give them the ability to express themselves more if they are good enough, which they might not really have the chance to do in the reserves on a regular basis.

Keep a player in the U18's, unless first team ready, until they cant play for them because of age anymore.

Once they hit the age restriction loan is the way forward.

throwing a young player into the reserves when his physical stats and state of mind arent ready for them will demolish any potential he possibly has.

My young stars ply there trade in the u18s, where they belong, its the only place for them.
