dking
I'm in group E of the champs league and I am second to juve with one match to go. What I don't understand is why am I second? Juventus, played 4, won 3 and drawn 1 (against me). Scored 8 and conceded 1. Liverpool, Played 4, won 3 and drawn 1. Scored 12 and conceded 4. According to the rules I should be top with a goal difference of +8, compared to there plus +7, right? The rules, if I'm not mistaken, state that it should be sorted on, firstly, results between the 2 teams which was 1-1 so it can't be sorted out by that. Secondly, on goal difference, which if that is the case, I should be top. Thirdly, on goals scored, so why aren't I top? Am I wrong or have I missed something? Cougar2010
How many of these threads this week? You've only played Juventus once and you must have been at home. Result was 1-1, Juventus leads on away goals, another match to come in Italy.
Brian Shanahan
It looks like a strange one. It looks like though that you are only 4 games in from the info given. If it is a case where your record better than Juve's (1-1 draw away), Liverpool's is better than yours and Juve's is better than Liverpools, then you go into a three way round robin where it is points and then goal difference. However as it is only 4 games in it could be still done on Alphabetical order as the round robin would only done be at the end of the group. Therefore J>L>whoever you are. Kenco
There is nothing in the rules that says anything about away goals counting in league format. Away goals count in the results between teams if you are level. So it's correct, if you drew at home to Juventus 1-1, then they are above you on away goals. Cougar2010
Away goals do not affect it if one team has a better goal difference Results between teams go before goal difference as it says in the rules. If GD was the deciding factor Liverpool wouldn't be 2nd in the example
