Four seasons in is a long time and lots could have happened to him on your save that hasn't on other peoples. All could affect the transfer price and wages he asks for. A) Use your scouts, they will give advice on transfer price & wages along with how he'll fit in with your squad. B) Praise him, get on his favoured personnel list.
