Deltaroad
Under PPM there is a list of moves players can learn. However after looking at the ppm available through the editor how come half of those ppm never appear? Example Likes to beat opponents repeatly Winds up opponents Likes to play one twos Dictates tempo Attempts Over Head Kicks Arrives Late in opponents area Tries Trics Avoids using weaker foot Likes to switch balls to other flank. Gets Crowd Going Only one I have ever saw is Argues with Referee and thats is something learnt through tuition. These PPMs only seem to appear with real life players in the game eg, Ronaldo has Tries Tricks and Rooney has Argues with Ref. But the regens don't seem to possess these PPMs? likeabawss
They just don't show up under the list of learned PPMs. Doesn't mean they're not there
thebluesigns
they don't appear on the list of moves that you can ask a player to learn, but wouldn't it be nice to ask a player to learn to get the crowd going and watch as he refuses, noting that it "wouldn't add anything to his game"? likeabawss
It's not really something that can be learned. It's part of a person's personality. A player like Ronaldinho will always be doing things to get the crowd roaring while a player like Gattuso will just stick to their job and stay focused. It's a part of who they are. Deltaroad
Yes I know its not something they can learn but I don't even see it come through their personalities. IE I have never seen it appear on any regens.
likeabawss
Then I'd think that that would be an issue that needs to be fixed by SI
Deltaroad
This has been going on the last 4 series of FM. I remember someone said some PPM don't do anything and are purely for aesthetic value. Are those for aesthetic value? If they are then there are not doing their job lol. SCIAG
PaulC said he hadn't coded half the PPMs in FM08, so they were removed completely (though can still be added using FMRTE iirc). Argues with ref is still in. Tries Tricks isn't. Argues with Ref and Curls Ball can't be taught, and regens can't be generated with them.

Couldn't he make it so those PPMs added a few notches and scores to attributes and tactics when you played them? So.... Likes to beat opponents repeated - Would increase determination, workrate, balance, composure, dribbling by 2 points. Winds up opponents - increase aggression, rivalry, controversy by 2 points Likes to play one twos - Increase creativity, passing, decisions, anticipation Dictates tempo - increase work rate, determination, fluctuates time wasting tactic Attempts Over Head Kicks - increase technique, increase use of over head kick animation Arrives Late in opponents area - increase run forward, decrease mentality and so on and so on? SCIAG
He is working on getting the PPMs sorted, but I think you'll agree that fixing bugs should be the priority. We get a few new PPMs every version. Having them affect attributes is wrong. They're preferences, not skills. Wanting to play one-twos doesn't make you a better passer. Winding up opponents doesn't make you more controversial, as presumably that's included in your controversy attribute. They will create entirely new happenings in the ME, except the ones that affect tactics. Plays one-twos should make the player try and play one-twos, winds up opponents should do just that, etc. Likes to beat opponents repeatedly relates to players like Ashley Young switching back to their stronger foot before they cross rather than literally going back and beating them again. The others are relatively straightforward.
Thedore
I do agree that if a PPM is in the game, you should be able to convince your player to at least attempt to learn them.
SCIAG
Those ones are not in the game.
themodelcitizen
Surely Gattuso should have "gets crowd going" though, what with his constant appeals to the home fans to up the tempo

Then it should be easier enough to add animations to show a player playing one-two, to curl the ball, to attempt over head kicks, no?
SCIAG
It doesn't just need animations, it has to be added to the ME too.
