Terminate loan?

Recommended Posts

Its not a problem.

You can only terminate a loan if its agreed in contract before the loan starts.

You're failing a bit here.

The team that actually receives the player can always terminate the loan.

It's the team that loans the player that needs the clause to be inserted for them to be able to cancel the loan.

Failing at what you obnoxious cretin?.

I've never experienced this so as far as im concerned its not a "problem". I've always been able to cancel a loan as long as I put the "can be recalled" option in.

Multiple people have been unable to cancel the loan as the club RECEIVING the player since the latest patch, the club that receives the player should not need a clause to be inserted for them to cancel the loan - do you think that in real life a team that receives a player cannot tell a player that they are no longer required?

Im talking about being the receiving club, not the club that is loaning the player out.

Sheffield Wednesday loaned Warren Feeney earlier this season under Brian Laws. Brian Laws was sacked and another manager brought in who didnt use the player yet he had to remain at the club for the duration of his loan contract.

Due to the nature of this specific contract the club may have had to keep the player or risk financial penalty, but there is still no way that a club can be forced to keep a player. How would that be enforced?

In FM, I assume the clause you are talking about is "Can be recalled" - this clause is obviously to allow the team loaning out the player to cancel the loan. How can the receiving team "recall" the player? It has always been the case that in FM's loan/transfer system the loan can be terminated by the receiving club without any clauses - this is seemingly now not the case for some people and, as others have realised in the linked thread, one for the bug forum.

Of course a club can be forced to keep a player if its bound by a contract!

The receiving team doesn't recall the player obviously, but the option is there for either the team loaning the player to recall the player or the team who has the player on loan to cancel the loan. Simples.

No it can't. If a club is bound by contract to keep a player they can still decide not to - they will be liable for breach of contract and will likely have to pay compensation, but they will not be forced to keep the player. Are you imagining police escorting the player to the club and making sure that he trains and plays? This is beyond the point anyway, as the system in FM is not so indepth.

You are again wrong about the clause, it IS for the club loaning out the player. This is to prevent the club that loaned the player simply recalling the player without the other team having contingency plans.

Could it be for loans that involve a percentage payment towards wages?

If it was, taking on a loan like this would effectively be a short term contract with the player/club, which couldn't be cancelled at short notice.

I may be wrong but I have a feeling that Pompey cannot cancel Aruna Dindane's loan, despite him effectively being ineligible due to the transfer cluse involving games played.

This is from one of the testers in the bugs forum:

The 'can be recalled from loan' option needs to be set in a loan deal for a club to be able to terminate the loan deal in FM2010.

Your argument doesn't make sense. Of course a club is forced to keep a player if its in the contract. Why the hell would a club risk paying compensation by breaching the contract?

The same reason that normal contracts are terminated I guess? You do realise that clubs have to pay compensation in that circumstance too?

So why has it changed from FM2007, FM2008, and FM2009? I would imagine this is the cause of people's confusion.

Because it was simply wrong in 07, 08 and 09. SI clearly know nothing about contract law lol.

I guess it due to loan contracts becoming more complex as the popularity of them increases, which means players getting 'stuck' at clubs could happen more often.

Of course clubs can pay compensation, or at least they used to be able to, probably not in the current financial climate.

Sheffield Wednesday and most clubs outside the Premiership are skint thats why they had to keep hold of Feeney. They simply cannot afford to terminate a loan and spend valued money on paying compensation.

I knew I was right.

Good day to you ;)

It appears that you are indeed right, but this is a recent change - as I said, it has always been the case previously in FM that the clause was not required. I even fired up FM2007 to check.

It also seems to be a poorly thought out one, as stupid an idea as you may think it; the club that receives the player on loan in FM SHOULD be able to cancel the contract, even if it means paying compensation, just like a club can cancel one of their own players contracts and pay compensation.

Yes I agree, there probably should be the option to cancel the loan if the club can pay the compensation.

Maybe thats something that should be added for FM2011.

Well you know what? Even though things got a little nasty, and I apologise for my part, it seems we have found something that definitely needs including in FM11.

Given that players can injure each other in training and muck up squad harmony in FM, there NEEDS to be an option to terminate loans even if the clause was not included at the beginning.

Good work :)

I apologise too.

It does seem in our little bout of banter that we indeed found something that can make this great game even better! High five! haha

  • 1 month later...

I have just come across this problem recently:

1 To terminate a loan player for whatever reason you right click on the name of the player in the squad list.

2 Select Transfers and Contracts

3 Select Terminate Loan

Now I looked at a Save game for 06/01/10 (FM time) - with my 5 Loan Players I could do this.

I then opened a Save game for 06/03/10 (FM time) - 3 of those Players had lost this option to terminate the Loan prematurely.

Must be a bug which creeps in or through file corruption!?

Outside a transfer window seems the likely reason.

Think it was mentioned in the change-list of the 10.3 patch, that loans could only be cancelled inside the transfer windows.

Might be wrong though, as it's been a long time since i've read it.

I recently faced this problem. Loaned Julio Baptista for the rest of the season 40k a week in the Jan window. He gets injured after 4 games, ruled out for 5 months. Couldn't terminate.

What I did was use FMRTE to change his loan contract's end date to the next day, simulating a loan termination.

playing as celtic, i can terminate robbie keane's loan...yet when he broke his leg which ruled him out for 4 months the terminate loan option was no longer there, despite my assistant recomending me sending him back. is this a bug, or a contractual ruling to protect spurs from having to play 65k a week for a player injured playing for another club?
