mcallister08
Anyone give me any tips on how to develop an effective marking system, its the only part of th game i feel i still struggle with. Ive tried usually a zonal marking system and a tight man marking system
nax
Generally, the better your defenders are at marking, the more inclined towards man-marking you should be. If you play lesser than 4 men in defense, zonal marking is the way to go. If you play with a sweeper, set him to zonal while the two DCs in front of him should be man marking. Or the opposite if you feel that the main (and only) threat comes from the guy you are asking him to mark. In normal 4-4-2 systems, I usually employ zonal marking because man-marking can get screwed up if the opposition uses the 'switch player' option. My defenders get dragged out of position relatively more often when that happens.

Thedore
I just leave it on default. It doesnt seem to have much of an impact on my game, set pieces aside of course.
