petey_g
despite having won 4 EPL titles on the trot and 3 CL. The consortium trying to take over the club are replacing me with Louis van Gaal. What the?!
FrazT
Has this happened or is it a news report? If it is a news item, it may just be speculation in the press and it is unlilely that you will be sacked with that record.
petey_g
Just a news item. Good news then. Don't believe everything you read in the press!
Vangelis21
i think it is one of the few occassions where the use of fmrte is not considered cheating
TheBag
It's still cheating. Consotrium's like to have their own guy in charge.
Vangelis21
Give me a real life example that a very successful manager was sacked (not resigned) after take over. It is not cheating.-
Kirkham88
They always say that when there a board takeover, though id say 99% of the time they dont replace you
dafuge
Give me a real life example that a very successful manager was sacked (not resigned) after take over.It is not cheating.- If he's very successful then he won't be replaced, he shouldn't need to cheat. AjaxNo1
Technically its not a take over but Real Madrid sack managers all the time, also Barcelona sacked Rykard (sorry about the spelling) . I think these are due to the presidential elections and the mental Real board
Vangelis21
when you fix a game's unrealistic bug, then it is not cheating
petey_g
Takeover has been completed, 268m pumped into the club. Message from the new owner: 'Konigs has added that although it had been his intention to appoint a new manager following the takeover, he will consider letting you keep your job and will inform you of his decision shortly.' Nervous much!
AjaxNo1
See panic over, keep doing well and he wont sack you lol
dafuge
when you fix a game's unrealistic bug, then it is not cheating There is no unrealistic bug though, the new board will only replace the manager if the results are not up to scratch, which is fairly realistic. Vangelis21
But he says he has won all those trophies, so getting sacked is unrealistic
dafuge
But he says he has won all those trophies, so getting sacked is unrealistic Not completely, although the circumstances were slightly different Vicente Del Bosque was released despite great success. It is all hypothetical anyway, he won't get sacked if he is doing well.
redmark
But he says he has won all those trophies, so getting sacked is unrealistic He hasn't been sacked, and 99% likelihood won't be sacked, so there's nothing happened at all yet, unrealistic or not. I got the same messages when Liverpool got taken over in a game, just after the first season (and I hadn't done anything special in that first season). The new board kept me on, then gave me a 4 year contract with more than a doubling of wages, despite originally wanting to replace me with Marco van Basten. petey_g
New chairman Ralf Konigs has informed you that you will be allowed to stay on as manager. Phew.
scottycm
Doubt you'd have any bother getting another job anyway.
Slawbawn
It's very rare that you do actually get sacked, unless you should be pushing for promotion or something and you're struggling to pull the results together.
Xinxin
Takeover has been completed, 268m pumped into the club. Message from the new owner: 'Konigs has added that although it had been his intention to appoint a new manager following the takeover, he will consider letting you keep your job and will inform you of his decision shortly.' Nervous much! Yeah exactly same thing happened to me when I was managing Arsenal. I never heard anything more after that message. I sat around for two seasons waiting for "his decision" which were supposed to "be announced shortly". After that I reconed my job was relatively safe and continued playing without any more concern about being replaced.
Thedore
I always get these press releases upon any potential takeover. Ive since learnt to ignore them
FrazT
As I said above it is almost always press speculation and shouldnt be worried about, if you are being successful
Red Owl
I just had a similar situation; just won my first league title with Wednesday, followed by a first CL. Then the new owners (who took over about 2 days later) were considering replacing me with Brian McBride, as the new chairman has links with the USA. When he took over, he said he was planning to replace me, but will take some time to make a decision, he came back to say I can stay, because of the huge support I have. In the meantime, while he was making his decision, my board confidence said something like "The board believe you have done an unbelievable job as manager, and you are putting a smile on the face of each and every supporter. Long may it continue." so if they had sacked me, I'd have been livid. Joke's on them though, I plan to quit after the Club World Championship. vinsinaty
Give me a real life example that a very successful manager was sacked (not resigned) after take over.It is not cheating.- City's Mark Hughes ? (not a takeover but still apply somehow, as as soon as they found a manager they trusted more, they replaced him whatever his success).
Bojan11
vangelis chats absolute ****, if they replace him to bring in their own man its realistic and if you want to use fmrte its cheating its not real football manager
Blanchflower1
I always get these press releases upon any potential takeover. Ive since learnt to ignore them That is quite true! It is best to ignore them.
mlindqui43
City's Mark Hughes ? (not a takeover but still apply somehow, as as soon as they found a manager they trusted more, they replaced him whatever his success). key word there is successful, as much as I love Hughes 4-2-3-1... all those damn draws weren't doing it... imagine Fergie getting the boot when the Glazer Family took over

Smurf
Depends on reputation. If you start as a sunday footballer and take over as manager of a big club. Then in a season or two there is a new board, they will sack you.
