What Bearing does "Preferred Formation" Have?

Every coach has their own "preferred formation" listed under their information screen. What impact does that have on the game? I doubt that it's purely a cosmetic thing.

I would think that if he ever became a manager, or was asked to manage his club's reserves or youth team, he would be most likely to use this formation?

If you promote a coach to assistant manager, for example, and then go on holiday without ticking 'Use current match tactics', then this is the formation he's likely to use.

i wondered this myself , i assumed it would be the formation he would play if in charge.

I was a bit worried you might be better off signing a coach/assistant who play the formation your team does , hope and assume thats not the case.

Either that, or a scout/coach would undervalue players who don't fit into his preferred system (i.e., a coach who plays a 4-3-3 would be more prone to downgrade wide players). I also wonder if it figures into coaching advice (we do poorly against X formation...).

i thought that if you hire staff that shares your preferred formation, it would generally benefit the team..like the coches will be better to actually teach the players what You want to teach them or something like that..but that's only an idea i had..

Just their preffered formation and what they would do if they were in charge. Every manager has one and they stick to it, or their second preffered formation etc.

No idea but my prefered formation is not the clubs and I never have any problems.
