rusty217
Zabaleta passes to Wright-Phillips here without being offside, how? Wright-Phillips ended up hitting the post though.
StevoRobbo
wright-phillips being in his own half might have something to do with it
DeadZone
As Stevo points out, they are in their own half You can only be off-side in the opposition half of the pitch

StevoRobbo
you cant be offside from a throwing either. Or from a back pass from an opposition player. Just for future reference
SCIAG
You cannot be offside if: You receive the ball directly from an opposition player You receive the ball directly from a throw in, corner kick or goal kick You are in your own half when the ball is played You are behind or level with the second last defender or the ball, when the ball is played. Brian Shanahan
There's a fifth one: If you are behind the player with the ball when he passes it to you. There used to be a vide of it on YouTube in a Flamengo match but it's been taken down.

Dalimyr
Offside is so messed up these times its hard to say whats on and off Arsène Wenger, is that you? But yeah, to an extent it is rather complicated - because the rule states that you're committing an offense if you "interfere with play" while in an offside position, it's immensely down to interpretation. A couple of years ago Radhi Jaidi had a tendency during free kicks of standing behind the wall, in an offside position, and jumping around to try and distract the goalkeeper. Surely then he's interfering with play and should be punished?
oi_oi_ginger_roy
[*]You are behind or level with the second last defender or the ball, when the ball is played. Actually, as long as you're level or behind the ball you can have an open goal in front of you and still be on-side The ball HAS to go forward to be offside too
