I'll see if the streak is still there when I get to work in the morning!

03-09-2008, 22:48
And I kill the streak.

Mwuhaha.

03-09-2008, 22:49
How dare you! :D It's the year of returns as Wojniech Sczesczny is set to return in January for a fee of 250k. We are currently 7th in the table.

03-09-2008, 23:42
The streak restarts:D

03-09-2008, 23:44
The hell it does :D

03-09-2008, 23:51
Evil! Killing the new streak:D

For 90 minutes, we hung with Birmingham in the Carling Cup 1st Round. Unfortunately, they scored 3 goals in extra-time and we lost 5-2:(

04-09-2008, 02:07
At least the media isn't as stupid as last couple years (but still pretty dumb:D) as they predict us to be 15th and NOT 24th like the 2 previous years. However, Sky Bet is a bit more accurate, considering AFC Wimbledon the 6th best team in the league:)

Hope this will be a good season and we can finish in the top 3:)

yay I finally have found some defenders who can defend! Which means that I should be winning close games now! No, my strikers have decided against being good and all 4 of them have injuries :(
I was hoping for a top half finish, but the start so far hasn't been too good (even though I've won 4-0 and 6-1 already , but that was before the inuries).
I'm hoping I can get to the 3rd round of the FA Cup again this season, as that really helped my finances, but I'll have to hope for a lucky draw again.

04-09-2008, 09:18
I was all ready to strangle my strikers but thankfully some shots finally hit the target and we got out of jail. http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/4695/fa4thvsleedssi8.jpg Just goes to prove how much I hate losing. Slezak is also a former player, having spent 7 years with us.

It's a shame when that happens, but I'm still yet to experience it.

I'm guessing that you don't have a back up then.

I just re-installed the latest patch, and it works again. Yay Now I must implement backups.

04-09-2008, 13:33
nope. I used to do backups, then i didn't for this one. arg. I'll guess I'll start again. -_-

Since seeing that a lot of people have had problems with games not loading, I've started keeping backups just in case, but thankfully it's not happened to me yet.

Gutted for you though, I can understand how annoying it must be to lose all that hard work.

04-09-2008, 14:58
I know this is overkill but I used to keep a save from every single month on my dafuge save so that when any bugs cropped up I could give the testing team everything they wanted.

I'll probably do the same again with FM09. There is nothing so soul destroying as losing a long term game to a corrupt save when you haven't got a back-up.

04-09-2008, 20:22
Good luck with Chippenham. Its been a fun challenge for me with Chippenham so far.
Cheers! Except after coming back from weird work shifts and having no time to play I've decided to go for AFC Hornchurch. If I pick another team please shoot me. Haha.

04-09-2008, 20:24
Good luck _Agalloch_:thup:

Good to see we're using the same skin:D

04-09-2008, 20:24
I really am lazy :D I waited until someone posted here so I didn't have to look through my subscribed threads :D

I'm having a cracking season so far, I'm in October so the mid season update should come today or tomorrow

04-09-2008, 20:28
Then good thing I posted:D

Training and youth facilities will be upgraded in one month. Can't wait:D

My update will hopefully be next week when I have a bit more time to play FM.

Very harsh indeed, just one would have been enough. Did they really have to rub it in with a second one though?? :thdn:

04-09-2008, 20:58
That's harsh roberto. The ref always like awarding penalties in a tied game in the 90th minute in my AFC Wimbledon save. I feel your pain:(

It's so annoying losing points in the 90th minute.:(

04-09-2008, 21:12
Cheers rancer890.

By the way, are we allowed to sign players via the transfers screen? For instance, a Swedish team has released a keeper who is willing to go on trial (I managed to brainwash him by spiking his cup of tea), I am allowed to sign him through these means right?

Yeah, you can trial anyone who you can't scout.

Ah, thanks for the reply. I thought that but just wanted to double-check.

King's Lynn - Blue Square Premier Season 2011-12

Again given a massive transfer budget of bugger all, we had to rely on free signings. Carl Regan came from Blue Square South side Salisbury and slipped right into the right back position left vacant by Matt Jackon's retirement. The versatile former Grays' player Ernie Cooksey also came on a free and was an important cog in the side as well. Outside of this, striker Dexter Ravenhill came from Histon having scored twenty in the Conference North the year before last, whilst veteran Darren Huckerby made a permanant move from Norwich after his contract expired. Young defenders Ronnie Dailly and Russell Bosnar came on frees to help solidify the weak point of the side.

Norwich again were generous in their loans as centre back Matthew Fry and left-back Nick Taylor came for the season, whilst Danny Sturgess returned to the club on loan and highly rated Ukranian winger Miroslav Slavov also came for the season.

Despite announcing that he'd play on to the new year, Mustapha Hadji was replaced as club captain by hard-working midfielder Sam Tuttnott, whilst Lewis Alessandra was named his deputy. (Transfers (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/flaminmongrel/2011-12%20KL/Transfers.jpg))

The League:
Whilst it was only an improvement of two places, it was a much better season all around the board as we scored slightly more and conceeded a lot less goals. A finish of sixteenth was completely satisfactory given the non-existent resources handed to us and we are becoming less reliant on loan signings - hopefully they will just become the icing on the cake as we push for a top half finish next season. The highlights of the season were a 4-0 win over eventually fourth placed finishers Crawley, a 2-0 win over eventual winners Kettering and a 2-1 win over ninth placed Dorchester.

Cup success is what will make this club prosper - and another exceptional FA Cup run was just what the doctor ordered - including an unbelievable 2-1 win over an understrength Aston Villa in the 3rd round. Other scalps were hard-fought wins over League One side Swansea and Championship side Blackpool. The dream run came to an abrupt end in the 5th round at home to Blackburn - the Linnetts going down 6-0. We also made the main draw of the other major competitions - losing in the 4th round of the Setanta Shield and the 3rd round of the FA Trophy; both times on penalties.

Season Results:
League - 16th (12-21-13) - League Table (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/flaminmongrel/2011-12%20KL/BSP.jpg) - Media Prediction: 23rd, Bookies Odds: 81-1.
FA Cup - 5th Round (0-6 vs. Blackburn)
FA Trophy - 3rd Round (2-2 (1-2 on penalties) vs. Halifax)
Setanta Shield - 4th Round (0-0 (3-4 on penalties) vs. Blyth)

Loan signing Miroslav Slavov (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/flaminmongrel/2011-12%20KL/MiroslavSlavov.jpg) was crucial on the right-wing in his 48 appearances for the season. The winger scored eight and had a hand in twelve as he and Robert Eagle (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/flaminmongrel/2011-12%20KL/RobertEagle.jpg) were an exceptional combination on opposite flanks. The former Norwich left-winger Eagle scored six goals in his 36 starts and also assisted in seven. Striker-wise, vice-captain Lewis Alessandra (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/flaminmongrel/2011-12%20KL/LewisAlessandra.jpg) had an inconsistent season, but his record shows an impressive fifteen goals from 27 starts whilst he also had six assists. Young gun Danny Sturgess (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/flaminmongrel/2011-12%20KL/DannySturgess.jpg) was the first-choice striker with fifteen goals in 38 starts in an impressive showing. Mention must also be made to club legend Mustapha Hadji (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/flaminmongrel/2011-12%20KL/MustaphaHadji.jpg) who finished his career in January at the club after 125 league appearances for the club after a career spanning nearly 20 years and an even 500 league appearances.

Conclusion/Looking Ahead
Hoping to capitalise on a good season to push for a top-half finish next year. With over one million in the bank, I'll be very unhappy - but we've shown we can survive. May find some big offers for Bosnar and Tuttnott which I hope to be able to fend off. Also, Darren Huckerby (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/flaminmongrel/2011-12%20KL/DarrenHuckerby.jpg) has announced he will retire before the 2012-13 season after 562 career appearances and 145 goals.

I'm in December so I will hopefully have an update at some time tonight

Looking forward to seeing your update.

I have decided that an AFC Wimbledon game won't be happening for me now. I went back to my NI game for just a quick look and have fallen straight back into it, so will be having another bash with that for a while.

I have completely aped Mongrel's format for my first post so I hope that is acceptable and thanks to him ;)

AFC Wimbledon - Blue Square South Season 2008-09

I knew I had drastic changes to make looking at my lackluster AFC Wimbledon squad. While I had no doubts that they would compete in the BSS, it would be difficult to obtain promotion with the players I was given. We splashed the cash on American striker Jon-Paul Pittman (http://img60.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2008jonpaulpittmanky2.png) for $150k from Crawley. All other transfers arrived on a free after they were let go by their previous teams.

A key to the success this season was my feeder club affiliation with Arsenal. The Gunners provided me with some of their young starlets to nuture, and Rhys Murphy (http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2008rhysmurphyhs3.png), Havard Nordtveit, and Gavin Hoyte would soon become fan favorites amongst the Wimbledon faithful.
Squad (http://img397.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2008squadxb4.png)

The League:
We cruised to victory in the league, finishing with over 100 points and a goal difference of +75. Losing only 5 times, it was never really in doubt as we finished 22 points above Hampton and Richmond in second place. However, it was to be Ebbsfleet who would win the chance to be promoted with us in the playoffs.

AFC Wimbledon had little success in the FA Cup and Setanta Shield, disappointing our supporters with poor showings in both Cups. However, a sparkling run in the FA Trophy competition would soon make them forget about our failures in the previous two cups. Wimbledon did very well to reach the final (beating several Blue Square Premier teams along the way), before stuttering and ultimately succumbing to Kettering on penalties. A disappointing result, but the money earned from progressing so far in these cups will go a long way to helping fortify the squad for the BSP next season.

Season Results:
League - 1st (34-3-5) - League Table (http://img152.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2008standingshf9.png)
FA Trophy - Final (http://img166.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2008fatrophyfinalssn6.png) (2-2 (4-5 on penalties) vs. Kettering) - Competition Stats (http://img78.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2008fatrophystatsou0.png)

Rhys Murphy was a revelation at striker, poaching 37 goals and 10 assists in 33 league appearances. Jon-Paul Pittman offered a great return on the money invested in him as well, grabbing 24 goals and 12 assists in 33 league matches. The young centerback pair of Christopher Fisher and Mitchell Nelson both played admirably under such pressure all year and both have been drawing multiple transfer inquiries as of late. Wingers Mustapha Hadji and Patrick Bexfield both performed well but these are areas that will have to be inspected closely ahead of next season.

The real surprise of the season was Charley Hearn (http://img175.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2008charleyhearnty4.png), who is highly rated by my coaching staff despite what appears to me to be some rather modest ratings. He was unstoppable playing on the left side of central midfield however, contributing 15 goals and 27 assists in 36 league matches. He is a player who handles pressure very poorly however; will he be able to cope with the spotlight at a higher level of play next season?

First-choice Goalkeeper Jon Stewart, while capable, was not impressive in his first season for the club and his is a position that will have to be addressed with a move up to the BSP.

Conclusion/Looking Ahead
Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better first season. Grabbed some talented young players as well as crafty veterans on frees and cruised through the BSS with little trouble. Disappointed in my two failed cup runs but I can't complain overall as the squad doesn't have much depth and promotion was my number one goal for the season.

Some bad news at the conclusion of this season however as Rhys Murphy has refused to renew his loan to Wimbledon for next season. Nordtveit accepted our loan proposal but lots of teams (Man United, Villa), have been sniffing around him so hopefully Arsenal hold onto him for now. Hoyte is also happy to return, something that will no doubt cheer the Wimbledon faithful ahead of next season.

I have asked the board to expand our training facilities several times and they are beginning to get annoyed with my constant proposals :( May have to wait until our financial situation is a bit more stable before I ask again.

Number one need for next season is a capable goalkeeper. I may have to look towards getting somebody on season-long loan because the transfer market isn't looking good for keepers. I would also like to sign some more capable wingers and grab some backups as I don't know how much longer some of the club's aging veterans can keep playing (*ahem* Hadji).

Actually, just to leave you hanging, I have managed to sign a spectacular young winger for loads of money. Will update with transfer information soon. Still looking for a keeper though...

AFC Wimbledon January Update - Season 7 (2014/2015)

To Begin....

My stadium has been expanded again, we now have a capacity of 9400 which means we have a half decent capacity at last. The youth facilities are also upgraded and are now average.

Championship Prediction - 24th
Championship Position - 5th
F.A Cup - Third Round (Nottm Forest 3/1/15
League Cup - 3rd Round (Defeated by Fulham)

Championship - Graph (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/LeagueGraphJanuary2015.jpg) - Table (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/LeagueTableJanuary2015.jpg)

Championship : A brilliant season so far, we look like surprise contenders for promotion and I'll be absolutely delighted if we do but just to be in contention in my first Championship season is a great achievement. If we don't I'm confident that we'll go up next year so it's all good.

League Cup : I won't go into detail but we travelled to Bristol City in the 1st round and came away with a 3-1 win. We then entertained Chesterfield and finished the match with a 2-1 win on penalties after drawing the first 120 minutes 2-2. And now to our failure, we travelled to Top (sniggers) premiership side Fulham hoping for a decent result, to be honest we did what was expected and put up a fight as we lost 2-1, the final goal coming up in the 92nd minute after we had equalized in the 80th minute... Ok I went into detail

Transfers :- (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/TransfersJanuary2015.jpg)

Fantastic season as far as transfers are concerned.

Ole Soderberg (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/OleSoderberg.jpg) - He's been alright so far but not very good, I've got a new goalkeeper in to replace him anyway so it's all good.

Danny Woodards (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/DannyWoodards.jpg) - I brought him in as a first choice but he has since turned into good back u due to Davis playing well.

Patrick Boyle (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/PatrickBoyle.jpg) - I was delighted when we got Paddy in and so far he has lived up to his reputation, it looks like he has a great future ahead of him and could be our first choice left back for year to come

Pedro (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/Pedro.jpg)- History (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/Pedrohistoryscreen.jpg)- Finally! What an epic journey this was, so far he's been rotating with Kareem Phillips, mainly due to me forgetting to ignore my assistant who keeps putting Phillips in! I'm just delighted to have him in though and I think he'll be with us until he retires.

Rui Fonte (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/RuiFonte.jpg) - At last the two season wonder has realised we're good enough for him, so far he's played very well and looks like he'll be competing with John Simpson for the top scorer award.

Wojniech Sczcesny (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/WojniechSczcesny.jpg) - Yet another Arsenal youngster has signed and boy do we need him, Soderberg might be good as far as attributes are concerned but otherwise... anyway Sczcesny has been top for me every other time I've signed him and I'm sure he will be this season too.

George Krenn (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/GeorgeKrenn.jpg) - A good young defensive midfielder that could turn out to be brilliant or terrible.

I'll discuss the other signings in the Young stars to watch section.

Players of the Season

Season Summary so far

Everythings been going good so far and I remain hopeful that we can get promoted this season, even if we don't we've still had a good season and can go on to next season with confidence. The youngsters are coming along nicely, the Germans in particular have been very good so the future looks bright too so smiles all around.

The players to watch section will be in the proper season review

05-09-2008, 18:28
well then all credit goes to him :p

Guess my formats are the norm for a bunch of threads these days:D

05-09-2008, 18:29
Don't get big headed :D Only two as far as I know, I prefer Neps anyway :p

05-09-2008, 18:39
I always like combining a bit of update styles from everyone (including Nep:p) and then add something that no one uses in their own updates (parent/feeder club info, highlights/lowlights of the season):D

And roberto, looking good so far in the Championship:thup:

05-09-2008, 19:19
Nice season Roberto good luck as you try to win promotion!

I can currently only dream of Arsenal youth rejects playing for my team someday ;)

05-09-2008, 19:21
Ahem? Pedro rejected Arsenal so he's not a reject :p

05-09-2008, 19:27
I always get Spurs rejects:D...which isn't really saying much lol.:p

I've made an offer to Colchester's transfer-listed Defender Takura Mtandari (who played with us in BSS and BSP):)

05-09-2008, 19:30
And just noticed I have as much money as you do roberto...in 2 divisions lower:p:D

Just curious, what's making you lose money this season?

05-09-2008, 19:35
Signing on fees, construction costs and more wages. I'll make it back as we progress in the cups hopefully.

05-09-2008, 19:36
500k sign on fee for Rui Fonte

05-09-2008, 19:39
Signing on fees, construction costs and more wages. I'll make it back as we progress in the cups hopefully.

Oh ya, nearly forgot about signing fees. Never gave a player on my team one yet:D

My season looks ok, mid table as usual. I think we can obviously do better, but I want a stadium upgrade before entering L1...

My wages are around 1.5 to 1.7 million annually.

05-09-2008, 19:41
You won't get one, your stadiums considered good enough at that level so...

05-09-2008, 19:43
500k sign on fee for Rui Fonte

Half a million? (I assume British pounds so around US$1 million, 1/5 of how much money I have right now lol)

I'm cheap lol. I only sign players on a free and sell them for profit when I find someone as good, if not better:D

Only 8 more goals from Scott Rhodes and we will pocket an extra US$110k:D

05-09-2008, 19:45
You won't get one, your stadiums considered good enough at that level so...

Ah, oh well. We're maxed out at around 4500 a game. My number one priority is to continue to improve training and youth facilities anyways:)

05-09-2008, 19:46
Well I was competing with the best team in England...

05-09-2008, 19:55
Not been on for a few days so I just scanned through.

I'm upto December in my game, 2 games off Jan. Might give a mid-season update on 1st Jan.

BTW, you can not sign players parent clubs send to you. Just when they say they're sending them go on the players profile and click withdraw transfer bid.

P.S. Might change my name to R2D2 just to fit in with the whole 'R' and number thing. haha.

05-09-2008, 23:03
Aww the temptation :( Sheff Utd (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/Ohsotempting.jpg)

05-09-2008, 23:30
How can resist? bar the fact you have to stay for the challenges sake.

05-09-2008, 23:31
And the fact we're still on course for playoffs :)

06-09-2008, 01:06
Holy baby Jesus! I was gonna leave my end of season update until 1st July but I got an overload of news in that beautiful month of June :D My report will be along soon, I'm starting it now but it'll be a long one... calming down now :)

AFC Wimbledon end of season update - Season 7 (2014/2015)

To Begin :- Brand New Stadium!

That's right we have a new stadium on the way, it'll hold over 18,000 and will also have undersoil heating. The name? In honour of my miracle work over 7 seasons they have decided to name the stadium The... AFC Wimbledon Stadium:mad:. The stadium will cost 15.75m (15.25m has been taken as a loan) and will be completed by 15th June 2017.

Training Facilities expansion

To add to my construction delights/expenses we will be getting a boost to the training facilities, my guess is that they will be taken up to a good standard. This will certainly be useful in the long run.

Arsenal link terminated

After a long and fruitful 7 year affiliacy we have split from Arsenal due to reasons to be uncovered.

Championship Prediction - 24th
Championship Position - 5th
F.A Cup - 4th Round (Defeated by Tottenham)
League Cup - 3rd Round (Defeated by Fulham)

Championship - Table (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/Leaguetable201415.jpg) - Graph unavailable due to advancement past June 20th

Whoohoo a helluva season! My target for this season was to avoid relegation. The result?? Well let's just say we've brought in £29.5 million in PREMIER Division TV Rights :D the table says it all, absolutely speechless tbh and this is easily my best FM Season. I'll shut up now and get on with the rest of it because I could talk all day right now...

AFC Wimbledons Player of the Year - Adriano (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/Adriano.jpg)

Players of the Season

Adriano (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/Adriano.jpg) - As he reaches the twilight of his career he just keeps on going, I seriously doubt he'll be a regular in the Prem as his pace is criminal now but he's been a fantastic signing for the two years we've had him so far and I'm sure he'll bang a few in from the subs bench at least.

Rui Fonte (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/RuiFonte-1.jpg) - Marked his return to the club with a good season, making a fantastic contribution of 26 goals and 20 assists, he also reestablished himself as our all time top scorer but I think Simpson will end up taking it from him.

Lars Pedersen (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/LarsPedersen-1.jpg) - He's been a defensive rock for us over the last three seasons and IMO he will be more than good enough to remain as our DM as we enter the Premiership battle.

Robert Smith (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/RobertSmith-2.jpg) - This lad continues to amaze me as he enters his 6th season with us and continues to improve. To lead us from Blue Square outcasts to Premiership new boys is amazing IMO and this man is destined for greatness... with us of course.

John Simpson (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/JohnSimpson-2.jpg) - yet another outstanding season from Simpson and he is the one striker that I am convinced will be able to mix it in the Premiership.

Youngster Watch

Right then, time to have a look at my various youngsters so far. My main success so far seems to have come from Germany where I picked up 3 youngsters from the freebie market. Jozef Sedlak is also progressing well along with my other new youngsters.

Jozef Sedlak (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/JozefSedlak-1.jpg) - He's progressing well now and had an impressive strike rate in the reserves of over 70 goals, his stats are now starting to improve quite a bit but he looks like a player that I'll be making a quick buck off rather than establishing himself as a regular, mainly thanks to this next kid.

Michael Hartmann (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/MichaelHartmann.jpg) - Easily the best prospect we've had since a 16 year old Robert Smith turned up. He has real star potential and I'll certainly be watching him closely.

These two players are the two I'll be following the closest and I certainly hope to get at least one of them in to the first team for a cup match or two.

Season Summary

Absolutely amazed with my season. We'll be in the big time and changes will be needed but I'm confident that I have a strong enough bacbone to keep us up. Big changes are afoot at Kingsmeadow and I'm just glad to be a part of it.

Well done Roberto.

06-09-2008, 07:22
Well done Roberto:thup:, but next time try and do it without a parent club loaning you players. It's much more challenging and rewarding.

06-09-2008, 08:14
Well done Roberto, you've finally made it! Next stop the Champions League?

06-09-2008, 10:14
Impressive roberto, but would be a LOT more impressing if you hadn't done it with Arsenal as a parent club

06-09-2008, 12:51
Yeah, yeah :D I'll do it without them next time, probably in FM 09

Mid-Season Update - Hednesford 08-09

Blue Square North

In the league I've been doing quite well for my first season in charge. I'm 5th (for those not familiar with the BSN 5th is the last play off place) which is good considering I got hit by an injury crisis about October/November time. At the very start of the season, about August/Early September time I wasn't doing as well though. I won my first two games which was all well and good but then I went on a run of four games without a win and it all looked a but bleak. My next result was a 2-1 win over Gainsborough. Then I lost 3 on the trot and it looked like we were relegation candidates again. Then I went on a seven game winning streak which fired us back to play off contenders. Then a draw came and another draw. Once again we fought back and won two games on the trot and come January 1st our last game was a 0-0 draw with promotion contenders Kettering. It was a hard fought match but was well worth the away point to a strong team. The only downside was that Star man Stuart Thurgood got banned for one match due to two yellows. Our recent form has left us 5th in the league.

FA Cup

We had a fairly decent run in the FA Cup this year for a BSN team. First up was the second qualifying round against fellow BSN team King's Lynn. We won this game fairly comfortably with a 3-0 win. In the 3rd Qualifying round we got drew up against Rushall, a greyed out team from the leagues below the Blue Square ones. They caused a scare as they went 1-0 up after 12 minutes but we showed good character and lethal finishing as we ran off 3-1 winners. We had Worksop in the 4th qualifying round and the first match was even stevens as we drew 1-1, it was a tough game and no team showed enough class to deserve the a place in the next round. So it went down to a replay, this ended 0-0 after 90 minutes and boiled down to extra time, it was end to end stuff with both teams ending with more than 20 shots each. But still the two teams could not be seperated and then came the dreaded penalty shootout, eventually we won on pens 5-3 as they hammered two of their pens wide, we however managed to put away all 5. So next came the round where League 1 teams enter. and we got one. at home. it was possibly the best draw we could have got as we maxed out the stadium and held our pride intact when we only lost 1-0 due to a 25 yard strike in the 87th minute. Our FA Cup dream was overbut we had a good time none-the-less.

Setanta Shield

In the Setanta shield we entered in the 1st round against Barrow and a good solid game as we ran out deserved winners in a 2-0 win. Next up was Gateshead and once again we played a good game and ran out 2-0 winners again. Then came our first test in the SS: Farsley. They had been relegated out of the BSP and were a strong side, despite our surprising dominance we drew 2-2 and went to penalties, we won 4-2 on penalties this time and I was delighted with the win. That was until I saw who we got drawn up against: Stevenage. They were a favourite for promotion to the Football League out of the BSP and they had obvious quality. This showed when we got nailed 5-1 by them. It was a bit of a reality check for the lads but we were all the more focused on the league now.

FA Trophy

The final Cup we were entered in and it was maybe the most disappointing one of the lot. We entered at the 3rd qualifying round and finshed at the 3rd qualifying round replay. the result was 2-2 in the first lef where we took both chances we had as Dorchester played us off the park. In the replay it was the same stroy except they put away more of their chances in a very similar match to the first one. We were very disappointed by our performance but again, gave us more focus on the league.

Mid Season Summary

Well I'm pleased with our position in the league as it shows that we do have quality but the FA Trophy performance was awful and it wont happen again. Our run in the FA Cup was extremely good aswell and I hope we can go that one step further next time round. As for the end of this season I plan to get promoted whether it be play-offs or we go on a sudden winning streak of 19 games and win it. I also want a parent club so will persevere with my board and I will get one.

By the way I might do monthly updates from now on, what do you reckon?

06-09-2008, 13:56
Well done roberto:thup:

Your finances will definately improve next season:D

06-09-2008, 14:09
Im on a horrible winless streak with marine. My 2nd season in league 2 after two successive promotions and im struggling at the bottom of the table. My parent team liverpool hardly helped in terms of loaned players and the ones that kept me up last season (mainly Amoo) now dont want to come to me. I found some talented youngsters which are good enough for my first team which is a positive i guess. A 17 yr old DM scouted from bury U-18 squad could become a player for the prem i reckon. Need to get there first though.

Any advice on how to change my fortune would be great.

06-09-2008, 14:16
They're only at about £2 million after season ticket sales, I had to pay the players 1m in clauses.

Mit p - My tips would be to scour the freebies market for as long as you can and pick out the best players possible and mess about with your tactics for a bit until you find a good one, at the moment I've got a good 4-4-2 with an AM farrow that's working brilliant and the work has certainly payed off.

06-09-2008, 14:32
Well, good luck in the Premiership roberto and hope you stay there.:)

mit_p - what roberto said. Look through everyone who is unattached, scout them and trial them. Also remember to look through the news items where some players leave their clubs after mutual termination. I got some players using that route too for a season or two.

I currently use a 4-1-2-2-1 tactic that's kept me afloat in League 2, and nearly got me into League 1 last season.

06-09-2008, 14:33
I am in a beautiful heaven :) I beat Liverpool 2-0

06-09-2008, 14:50
Just made an offer to transfer-listed Dag Olsen:)

And defender Cian Hughton has officially signed with AFC Wimbledon:)

06-09-2008, 14:54
We've had a fantastic start to the season so far, we were robbed against Bolton 1-1 then we beat Liverpool 2-0 and we're 3-2 up vs Spurs at half time.

06-09-2008, 15:46
Yeah im using a tried and tested tactic, ive used it for all of my games so far on fm08 and had something similar on 07.
Its 442 diamond with the DM pushed up to CM with a barrow to dm and the AM has a farrow to CF. Got preston to champ league and stockport to prem with it. I'll mess around with it though, needs a change i guess.

With regards to the free players ive got 2 scouts, one with 19 potential judgement and other with 20 current ability judgement, cant find me much but will keep on trying. I found a good way to find cheap young players for free is to look at europe's national teams and pick up the free players from there. If theyve had a cap you can see their full stats which is pretty cool. Got laurie Dalla valle from finland...legend, although he isnt that good on this game.

Cheers for the advise and i'll let you know how it goes.

06-09-2008, 15:51
Maybe also look for a national team in the Caribbean, mit_p. Some of them have real quality:p

Found a regen from Montserrat through my scout who I'm bleeding into the first team, and trying to get the rest of the national team as well:D

I might even go as far as purchasing (yes, I might actually spend my transfer budget:p) a Montserrat striker from Crawley. He's worth 200k though.

06-09-2008, 15:59
lol apart from the work permit problems, i only have 70k transfer budget. but will keep an eye out from the caribbean players.
South africans tend to be amazing after a few years of regens aswell.

06-09-2008, 16:03
No worries mit_p, they should have English as 2nd nationality:p:D

06-09-2008, 16:05
lol changed my tactic a bit and won 7-3, houldsworth on loan from aston villa scored 6...legend!

06-09-2008, 16:18
lol changed my tactic a bit and won 7-3, houldsworth on loan from aston villa scored 6...legend!

Nice job! Olsen (or Dawkins. I don't remember lol) once scored 5 goals for me.

Hope your season gets better:)

06-09-2008, 16:27
Cheers, its still early in the season so hopefully can still push for playoff places if i can get get some results together

January '08 Update - Hednesford

v Burscough lost 2-1
v Nuneaton won 2-1
v Leigh won 2-1
v Altrincham won 1-0
v Gainsborough lost 4-0
v AFC Telford drew 0-0

Overall not a bad month bar the game against Gainsborough. In that game we were awful, well after Rusk got sent off we were: He got sent off on the 18th minute and after that we had no one down the right hand side of defence capable of covering so the opposition exploited that and came away 4-0 victors. We did, however, have a goal disallowed when they were only 1-0 up and it seemed perfectly legal to me but hey, I'm the manager http://www.thedugout.tv/community/images/smilies_final/lol.gif I think the match could have changed had that goal counted. Thurgood showed his free kick clas once more as he managed to score three outstanding free kicks in that month alone. I'm also unhappy at the Burscough result as it is the second time we have played them this season and once again the decisions went against us: we had two players sent off and their second was offside http://www.thedugout.tv/community/images/smilies_final/moop.gif I can assure you I'm not just saying that http://www.thedugout.tv/community/images/smilies_final/lol.gif In the Telford result we had so many chances but just didn't put them away, it seems Ademeno just hasn't recaptured the form he had before his 3 month injury.

As you can see that unlcuky draw against Telford cost us and sees us drop out of the play offs and into 6th.

06-09-2008, 16:50
Bulfin. Looking good despite dropping out of the playoffs:thup:.

Your League Table pic is too small though. I don't know how to post pics like that but if that's what you want to do then you need to save it as a jpeg rather than whatever that is.

ps. Where did you get them smilies from?

06-09-2008, 16:50
Jimbo - click on it to view the bigger version :)`

06-09-2008, 16:58
Roberto - suprised to see Rui Fonte doing well for you, he was awful for my Billericay side in League One! Though saying that my save un-patched, which could be why! ;)

06-09-2008, 17:00
Jimbo - click on it to view the bigger version :)`

But then it's too big.

06-09-2008, 17:27
I just clicked on the screenshot button in FM then uploaded and used it as a thumbnail. By the way what do you mean it's too big when you click it.

I am posting my updates on TD aswell so I copied it off there and the smilies came with it I guess.

06-09-2008, 17:31
You're just being awkward Jimbo :)

06-09-2008, 17:42
Looking good Bulfin:thup:

Jimbo - it's not THAT big. It's only bigger than normal, that's all.:p

06-09-2008, 18:12
I haven't actually clicked on it to see the size. One minute...

EDIT: It's not THAT big at all =/

06-09-2008, 18:15
It filled up all my little screen about 4 times:(.

In any case. I'm keeping quiet now.

06-09-2008, 18:21
Is yours 7 inches or something?

EDIT: That sounds wrong but there you go

06-09-2008, 18:23
What's your computer resolution Jimbo?

06-09-2008, 18:23
Jesus Christ Jimbo!

My screen has to be at least 18" I reckon.

06-09-2008, 18:29
My flat screen monitor's 23" but the screenie is bigger apparently.

Probably because I like sticking to my 1024 by 768 resolution:p

06-09-2008, 18:35
I'm on 1280 by 800 pixels. This is proof that every forumer should use Photobucket :)

06-09-2008, 18:40
I used to but you can't thumbnail the pictures so it takes up alot of room on the page.

06-09-2008, 18:43
I use imageshack more than photobucket:p (I'm too lazy to sign in sometimes lol)

And how do you only have the image roberto? My photobucket links always have other things like zoom in and stuff as well...

06-09-2008, 18:44
I don't know.. I just upload the pic and post the direct link.

06-09-2008, 18:44
I don't know.. I just upload the pic and post the direct link.

Guess my links aren't direct enough:p

I use imageshack more than photobucket:p (I'm too lazy to sign in sometimes lol)

And how do you only have the image roberto? My photobucket links always have other things like zoom in and stuff as well...
I use imageshack quickshot. Fantastic tool which uploads images and give me the url directly so I just can paste it

06-09-2008, 18:47
Sounds good.. I hate imageshack though, I'm gonna see if theres something similiar for photobucket.

06-09-2008, 18:48
You can use it on Photobucket :D

06-09-2008, 18:49
You can use it on Photobucket :D
Really? Cool :)

06-09-2008, 18:52
I used to use Photobucket for my FM08 A New World thread, but since I lost interest in it maybe I should upload my Wombles career onto Photobucket:D

And roberto, speaking of challenge threads, what happened to the CSE Euro Championships? It's not dead right?:(

06-09-2008, 18:53
Does quickshot work for Vista though?

06-09-2008, 18:53
I can't view Imageshack pics so it's fairly pointless for me to post pictures from imageshack.

06-09-2008, 18:57
Does quickshot work for Vista though?
Dunno. Try?

06-09-2008, 19:27
No it's not dead but I got fed up and now the competitors are dead :D Nah it's getting ridiculous now, all that needs to happen is two people finish their challenges and they'll have a straight pass to the semis ffs

06-09-2008, 19:28
Yeah it works on Vista

06-09-2008, 19:46
February '08 Update - Hednesford

v Farsley won 3-0
v Harrogate won 3-1
v Droylesden drew 2-2
v Tamworth won 6-1

Again I consider this a successful month. We picked up 10 points out of 12, remianed unbeaten and the last result especially was just what we needed: We dominated from the word 'go'. It took until 57 minutes for them to have a shot and it went in. That would go on to be their only shot of the game as we ran out winners with 72% possession. The highlight of the month was Kirk Hudson; he scored 3 goals in that last match and assisted the 6th, he set up a wonderful goal against Droyelden taking on no less than 3 players and playing an exceptional through ball to veteran midfielder Dino Maamria. Mustapha Hadji was also a joy to watch as he scored two out of the three goals against Farsley and capped the performance with an assist of the third goal. And Finally, the other veteran, Dino Maamria, is the last player to deserve a special mention as he scored that goal against Droylesden, set up two more and scored an absolutely astonishing free kick against Tamworth.

Now we are back in the play off spots comfortably and it looks good for the remaining games we have left. I just hope Hudson can carry on his form.

Got second and third in MoTM and PoTM respectively :D:D

06-09-2008, 19:59
I really should stop looking round the boards for ages and get on with the game that's been lying in my taskbar untouched for 3 hours...

Bulfin - Good season so far

06-09-2008, 20:03
Either get on with it or close it so your internet goes faster.

06-09-2008, 20:17
Another good month Bulfin.

Should seriously finish my homework instead of posting on the boards to I can continue with my Wombles game...

Real London Update - Season 23 (2030/2031)

Premiership Prediction - 4th
Premiership Position - 13th
F.A Cup - 4th Round
League Cup - Winner's
Champions League - Quarter Final

Premiership - Graph (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Real%20London/Season%2023/LeagueGraph.jpg) | Table (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Real%20London/Season%2023/LeagueTable.jpg)

Premiership : This was the season I felt I had the best squad in the league, and the best chance of completing at least one half of the challenge. I was very wrong. Winning 3 of the first 3 games, I would only go on to win 10 more games for the entire season, never winning 2 in a row again. I was extremely frustrated, losing games 2-0 and 3-0 despite dominating, and the downfall of Raul Arguelles as a player is a massive contribution here. Tactically, my team were still brilliant, but they just lacked the confidence all season to convert the chances they had into goals. One game in particular I remember losing 2-0 despite the oppo having 1 shot, 1 on target and myself having 35 shots with 28 on target. I struggled to achieve what the board wanted, which was to qualify for Europe through the league, and 13th place was all I could manage. Very inconsistent, and something I'll need to address this for next season.

F.A Cup : Despite going out early in this Cup, I'm actually happy with the overall performance. Spurs were the club to knock me out, and it was only AET after my club fought hard against the title contenders.

League Cup : League Cup Final - Real London 4 - 3 Blackburn Rovers (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Real%20London/Season%2023/LeagueCupFinal.jpg) Saved my season really. An easy 3rd round draw saw me paired up with League 2 Mansfield, and one of my old Youth Projects would return to face me. Unfortunately, he couldn't do much to stop me, and we ran out eventual 2-0 winners, leaving us with a 4th Round draw v Crystal Palace. The minnows that consistently knock me out of Cups. It was time for revenge, and a 6-1 hammering of them was just reward for the hard work we showed in the game. Quarter Final was against League leaders Pompey, but a great display of finishing saw us win 4-2, after being 2-0 down at half time. It was starting to seem as though it was meant to be for us in this Cup. And so a tie against Stoke City in the Semi's for a shot in the final, and a great 4-2 win away saw us pretty much wrap up the tie. Well, nearly. Second leg, and Stoke hold a 2-0 lead with 15 minutes to go, leaving the tie in the balance. 1 Stoke goal now, and the dream is over. 1 Real London goal and its very much on. We did get the 1 goal, along with another from Liam Lamb leaving the tie 6-4 on agg, and Real London would play in their first Cup Final since the English Setanta Shield way back in 2013. Blackburn Rovers, a mid table team were the other finalists, and I was actually quite confident I could walk away victors. Although we made it hard work for ourselves, I was right. 3-1 up at half time, and never looked back. 4-3 at full time, but I never once felt like the tie wasn't ours. Europe for next season was now a certainty, and that gave me a little relief, as it wasn't going to happen in the league.

Champions League : So, my first shot at the Champions League, and I got a very unfortunate draw against Monaco. I was gutted. I felt like a chance of a lifetime had been snatched away from me. A 2-1 win after a 90th minute goal, and a 1-1 draw at The Real London Stadium ensured that Real London would be in the Champions League Proper, and were drawn against :

FBK Kaunus
Sporting Lisbon

The game v Kaunus would see Davidas Sanejavas of Real London return to the club he signed for as a 16 year old. It was also the first game for Real London, and they made history, by winning the game 6-0. Quickly bought back to earth with a 3-1 defeat to Sporting, perhaps getting out of this group would be harder than the first game allowed us to believe. AZ were coming to the Real London stadium, and were leaving 90 minutes later empty handed after a Liam Lamb hattrick gave us a 3-1 win and put is in 2nd spot in the table. The return game offered little difference, but this time all 4 goals scored in the tie went to Real London, and with Sporting destroying Kaunus, 2nd spot was all but tied up for Real London. An away game against Kaunus was next up, with me being very easy going about it, and almost throwing the result away. I fielded a weaker team, and the 2-2 draw was a fair reflection of how the game went. The final group game v Sporting would only decide 1 thing. Weather Real London would finish top of the group, or second, and after the first result, I didn't hold my hopes high. But my team got out there and showed me they are worthy of Top Spot by demolishing Sporting 5-2, with a second Liam Lamb hattrick in the competition.

The first knockout round saw me drawn against Scottish Champs Rangers, and I was quite confident I could beat them. A 3-2 away loss made me very nervy in the second leg, but our class came through and we won the game 4-0 and took the tie 6-3 on agg.

A Champions League Quarter final draw v Real Madrid is what I got. I didn't care. At the moment the team were on a high in the Cups, Ruling everything put infront of them, and a shock 3-1 win at the Bernabau gave Real London massive hope to get to the Semi-Final at the first time of asking. Unfortunately, we fell apart at home losing 3-0, a 90th minute goal stealing the tie away from us, and Real Madrid were eventual winners. A lot of money came in from this competition, and should allow me to strengthen for next season to win the league and get back into the Champions League.

[URL="http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Real%20London/Season%2023/LiamLamb.jpg"]Liam Lamb (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Real%20London/Season%2022/RecordLeagueHigh4.jpg) - Top scorer. Champs League Golden Boot winner. One of the better players for me in a poor season

GTA IV (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Real%20London/Season%2023/GTAIV.jpg) - I was stupid enough to underestimate his ability this season, and played him in rotation with a couple other strikers. He still managed to bang in an incredable amount of goals, and even signed a new 4 year deal.

Season Summary
Disappointing. I really need to sort the tactics out for next season to do better in the league. The Champs League and League Cup were obviously great successes this season, but 13th in the League just isn't good enough.

AFC Wimbledon January Update - Season 8 (2015/2016)

To Begin....

The training facilities are now rated as good after the recent improvements. This season wages have gone way, way up. The signings that have come in are taking up alot of money but it'll be worth it if we continue playing to our current standard.

Premiership Prediction - 20th
Premiership Position - 6th
F.A Cup - Third Round (Hartlepool 9/1/2016)
League Cup - Quarter Final (Defeated by Liverpool)

Premiership - Graph (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/LeagueGraph.jpg) - Table (http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn49/ohmylife92/LeagueTable.jpg)

Premiership: A solid season so far, we've exceeded expectations and we look like we could be in Europe, probably through the Euro Vase as we're now on a downward slide in form, theres been a couple of players that have struggled to adapt to the Premiership but I'll see how they get on through the season before making any decisions.

League Cup : We got the furthest we've ever got this season, we got to the quarter final before falling to Liverpool, conceding a late goal to send us out.

Season Summary so far

Everythings been going good so far and I remain hopeful that we can get into Europe this season, even if we don't we've still had a good season and can go on to next season with confidence. The youngsters are coming along nicely, the Germans in particular have been very good so the future looks bright too so smiles all around.

Looking awesome Roberto; I can't wait until I make it to the Premier league!

p.s. don't let anybody give you crap for having Arsenal as a parent club. What lower-league side would turn that down?!?!? :D

Tiverton Town 2008-09 – Blue Square South – 18th

We went into the season severely understaffed (no staff) and with only 5 players (all under 20). Pre- season was spent arranging a makeshift squad of free transfers and loanees. After a mixed pre-season where we won only one, drew two and lost two, the league campaign began.

Transfers: http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=Ky5ccWcEfm1OJOxTlO6Euw%3D%3D

League: 18th: http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=Ky5ccWcEfm0Tk46DFhdd9w%3D%3D

FA Cup: 2nd qualifying round

FA Trophy: 3rd Qualifying round

Setanta Shield: 3rd Round South

Overall I was quite pleased with the result of this season; we achieved the aim of staying up, got a few good players in and look well set for next season. In the league, we started poorly and were in the relegation zone until Christmas before we pulled out of it during January and February. In the cups, we could have done better losing out in our first match in both the FA Cup and Trophy including a humiliating loss to Hillingdon in the FA Cup, Some of our best players were: Ashley Barnes, who was our top scorer and nominated for BSS player of the year scoring 29 times in 39 games on loan from Plymouth; another loanee Matt Taylor consistently held a crumbling defence together; Paul Jarvis arrived on a free and showed that he is too good for this division with some brilliant performances in centre midfield; and Donal McDermott did brilliantly scoring 15 goals in 16 games towards the back end of the season.

Next Season Targets

1) Win more away matches
2) Do better in the cups
3) Rely less on loanees
4) Finish in the top half of the table

Decided to start this again last night and i went with Halesowen but when i went to play this morning the save had corrupted. So i started again although i wanted a team with a rep lower than 1000 i forgot to save it before the 19th June so had to go with a team with a rep higher than 1000.

So i ended up with Guiseley.

Nep - Unlucky on that season, it seemed that you were well on course for your first title. Any idea what might have caused the drop in performance?

roberto -Doing well so far, hopefully you'll be challenging for a European place come the end of the season.

Nep - Unlucky on that season, it seemed that you were well on course for your first title. Any idea what might have caused the drop in performance?

Nope. I had basically the same team as the season before, but more experienced. I only had 2 new 1st team players, so it wasn't because they didn't gell. I think the biggest thing was that Raul Arguelles hit 31 years old, and his performances dropped massively, and they were key the season before.

April '08 Update - Hednesford

v Hyde won 2-0
v Barrow drew 1-1
v Gateshead lost 4-1

This was yet another disappointing month for us. We started well but faded away as the matches came. Charlie Macdonald deserves a special mention aswell. His work rate and overall skill was invaluable to us. That Hyde match could have easily outshone the rest of the month had we put away our chances. We dominated from the start and Hyde never got a sniff of the ball, if only we could do this every match.

Again no League table this time: I've progressed a little further. http://www.thedugout.tv/community/images/smilies_final/sorry.gif

I can however, tell you that I'm 5th going into the last game of the season and 1 point clear of 6th. Hopefully we make the playoffs. Leigh RMI have won the league aswell.

May '08 update - Hednesford

v Blyth Spartans drew 1-1
v Kettering (play-off leg one) lost 2-1
v Kettering (play-off leg two) won 3-1
v Boston (play-off final) won 2-0

League Table
http://img27.picoodle.com/data/img27/3/9/9/t_BlueSquareNm_a98e010.png (http://www.picoodle.com/view.php?img=/3/9/9/f_BlueSquareNm_a98e010.png&srv=img27)

Ohh what a month for us. Promotion! We did it all against the odds aswell, which just makes it that bit sweeter. That Blyth match was tense though, Barrow were 2-0 up and we were still drawing. That result would have seen us take 6th, a place no-one wanted as it generally means you were close to the play-offs, just that little bit short. However, in the dying minutes of the game AFC Telford did us a huge favour and scored two to send us into the play-offs. We were overjoyed and everyone at Hednesford and it was a memorable day for the fans. However, promotion was not done yet. We had to win three more matches for that to happen. So I told the lads after the game that I was pleased and answered the media by saying we were only half way there. Then up cam Kettering, we had a tough first leg at our place where I thought we needed the added advantage of being in a good position to go into the away leg. The result was a 2-1 loss. I think the problem started when we let Westcarr go for the first time. After that he just ran us ragged and we paid the price dearly. We were kept in with a shout for the second leg after Kirk Hudson latched onto a crossfield ball by Simon Rusk and smashed int into the top corner. Then in the second leg I switched my tactic into a counter attacking one and it worked a treat with us actually dominating instead of inviting them onto us . We also kept Westcarr fairly quiet, this tme he only scored one goal as my counter attacking tactic has an ultra deep defence so his only advantage that he had over our DC was taken away from him. Charlie Macdonald, Charles Ademeno and Stuart Thurgood all scored our goals, Thurgood adding to his free kick highlight reel with another stunner into the top corner. Now, the final. We were drawn against Boston after they won their semi final. It wasn't really as dramatic as I expected/wanted. It was just a simple passing game, a few one twos and the goals were nothing special. All in all I would want the Kettering match to be our final it was that bad. I did however, claim the second place in manager of the year and was delighted with that considering I finished 5th and got through via play-offs. Leigh RMI manager got the top spot though. The squad got paid £40K between them and we didn't get a penny for being promoted, gutted.

Season 5

Chelmsford 2012/13 Coca-Cola League 1

After our surprise promotion via the playoffs last season, the bookies were writing us off again, claiming that we would do well to stay in the division. After over-acheiving for the past few seasons, we were in danger of being found out in this league.

In the transfer window, I concentrated on strengthening the weak spots in the team. In came Israeli youngster Haim Sabag (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/sabag.jpg), French defender Jerome Gohel (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/gohel.jpg) and Brazilian keeper Luiz Carlos (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/carlos.jpg). We also managed to retain the impressive Ryan Preece (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/preece.jpg) on loan from Birmingham who was joined by powerful defender Jay-Emmanuel Thomas (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/thomas.jpg) from new parent club Arsenal and striker Luca Senicanin (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/senicanin.jpg) from Sheffield United. However, one big loss to our squad was tricky winger Dennis Hinton (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/hinton.jpg) to divisional rivals Hull City in a 500K deal.

Transfers (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/transfers.jpg)

A very exciting season where we surprised a lot of people, including myself. We started off our campaign slowly, floating around mid-table for the early parts of the season. A bad patch of form early on led to a run of 7 games without a win, including 5 games drawn in a row but after an away defeat to Wolves in November, we would only lose two more games in the league all season. While we picked up points, other teams at the top dropped points and in the end, our fantastic season culminated in a second place finish and promotion to the Coca-Cola Championship.

Coca-Cola League One (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/league.jpg)

Captain Consistancy Matt Fish (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/fish.jpg) was fantastic again and was rewarded in the Players Select (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/playersselect.jpg) and I picked up 3rd place in the Manager of the Season Award (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/mos.jpg)

Notable mentions go to Joe Tomkins (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/tomkins.jpg) who began to live up to his price tag, Danny Ward (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/ward.jpg), who was forced to play in a very unselfish right wing role for much of the season and Lachezar Petrov (http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f258/steve_rush/2008-09/2012-13/petrov.jpg) whose magical left boot contributed towards 24 goals.

Premiership : We completely exceeded my expectations this season, to finish so high in our first season was fantastic and meant that we got £14.5m for our finishing position :D. The vast majority of our players adapted well to the Premiership although there were a couple (notably John Simpson.) It was a very good season for transfers and I hope to build on that next season.

F.A Cup : We achieved our best run yet in the FA Cup, we reached the sixth round before going out to Reading 2-1.

League Cup : Another good run in the cup, we reached the Quarter Final but went out against Liverpool 1-0

I was gutted but they're nearly out of it now, we are in Europe (Euro Vase)

well done roberto, looks like you'll be pushing for a European place next season.

Gateshead FC Season 2010/2011

After the disappointment of last season, the only way really was up. Big signings were needed to improve on last season's 19th place finish and I got one in the form of an aging Ray Parlour. He and another 9 other free signings along with a handful of retained players from last season and two loanees were set the task of achieveing a safe mid-table position for the season, and to be fair I would have been happy with that too and then push on to promotion next season.

The opening day saw us lose 3-1 at home to Vauxhall Motors and it seemed that we were heading for another long season despite a very promising pre-season. It proved just to be a blip as we went on a six game unbeaten run and ended up losing just 2 of our opening 12 games to find outselves lying 2nd in the table. For the next few games results were mixed but we maintained 2nd place and kept up with AFC Telford above us. Our form was being carried by our ability to score goals for fun, with Middlesbrough loanee Jason White proving to be a star player up front. Worryingly though he was only here for 3 months and was refusing to extend his deal.

Thankfully after having just left the club the day before, Jason agreed to come back for another 3 months. Unfortunately not even he could prevent some very poor results in December, January and February which saw me slip away and eventually 9 points outside of the playoffs by mid-February, mainly thanks to a leaky defence.

A quality midfielder in the from of 22-year-old George Collins and the further extension of Jason White's loan turned things round and we went on a 7 game unbeaten run (including 6 wins) and found ouselves back in the playoffs with a 5 point cushion with just four games to go.

Losing 1-0 at Witton Albion saw the cushion drop to just two points. The following week we were beaten 2-1 against Hinckley, but thankfully 2 of the teams chasing me lost their games also, but there were now 3 teams all just 2 points behind me.

A comfortable 2-0 win over already champions AFC Telford, saw two other teams drop out of the fight and it was now either me or Southport who would claim the final playoff spot on the last day of the season. I faced Boston, they faced Blyth. At half time we were deadlocked 0-0 but down to 10 men and struggling to hold out. A quick check of the Southport game saw them 1-0 up and as it stood they were in the playoffs on goal difference. Full time came and I had been beaten 1-0. Southport had held on to their 1-0 lead and so it turned out to be a disappointing end to the season. I was pleased however that we had managed to finish 6th and felt confident that next season we could go one better.

Blue Square North: 6th, 68 Pts, +14 G.D.
FA Cup: 4th Qualifying Round (Lost Nuneaton (H) 2-1)
FA Trophy: 3rd Qualifying Round (Lost Hendon (A) 2-0)
Setanta Shield: 1st Round (Lost Guiseley (A) 1-1p)

A total of 12 players in, all for free. 4 loans over the season (all from Middlesbrough), 2 of which were for the full season and the other 2 just for 3 months. Signing of the season was probably the loan signing of Jason White, whose goals carried us forward all season, but Ray Parlour was a close second as he bossed the midfield in just about all of our matches.

Made a loss of £12k over the season and ended with a balance of £9k. The main causes of the losses were probably the fact that i was always right up to the wage budget and our poor perfomance in cup competitions. It could have been a lot worse had we not broken our average attendance record with 728 though.

Jason White - Superb loanee. Won BSN Player of the Season and was BSN top scorer. Was hoping to sign him in June as his contract ran out at the end of the season but he signed a new 2 year deal at 'boro and so I'm relying on signing him back on loan next season.
Apps: 43+3, Gls: 33, Assts: 16, MoM: 13, AvRt: 7.41

Adam Bolle - Free signing in the summer. Played superbly alongside White upfront and looks a real prospect for future at just 19-years-old. Won Fan's Player of the Season and third top scorer in BSN
Apps: 36+6, Gls: 26, Assts: 8, MoM: 10, AvRt: 7.21

Ollie Thorne: Free summer signing. Excelled in a trial over the pre-season so snapped him up, but just couldn't compete over the season.

Next Season:
Hopefully we will be in the playoffs next year. We need a quality centre-back to shore up the defence as the number of goals conceded was really what stopped us from going up this season. Would like to get a bit further in the cups in order to generate a little more revenue but I think promotion will be the main aim.

Game Summary:
Season 1 - 9th Blue Square North
Season 2 - 19th Blue Square North
Season 3 - 6th Blue Square North

Unlucky mate, you should get it next season though.

I feel like dying. :(

I've had a problem with my laptop. The screen had an issue, and I had to send it off to Apple to get it repaired. I used my other laptop, and backed up all the files on to my external HD. I transfered a select few over to the spare laptop, (mainly FM ones) - and let my computer go.

I've just gotten my computer back today. Opened up my external HD and put the files on the spare laptop onto it, to transfer over to the fixed laptop. I opened up my laptop and put all the old files back, to find one thing. My Real London game is the one I had pre-laptop problems and is nearly 2 seasons earlier than where I actually am. :(

I've hastily deleted the back up files before realizing my mistake, and also wiped the back up laptop before realizing too.

I don't know if I have the heart to carry on with the challenge now. There were so many things I'd done in that 2 seasons that set the club up for great things, and it was about 20-30 hours of actual game time. I don't know if I can be bothered to do it again, or even try, just in-case things don't go the same way. I'm so gutted, I was really enjoying the game.

12-09-2008, 01:04
Sorry to hear that Nep :(

12-09-2008, 01:55
I'm at a loose end :(

I just don't feel the same without this game. So much time invested in it. - Even down to the youth / EOS reports. I'll mull over it, and may continue tomorrow. I'm so angry with myself :(

12-09-2008, 14:06
I feel your pain Nep.

I've recently lost the only FM08 post 8.02 patch save I have ever played, (the one Gundo challenge one with McIlmurray on 119 goals.

The pc is completely dead so the game is too.

I've started a dafuge game with Hitchin but to be honest my heart isn't really in it.

It usually takes me a few seasons to get into a game.

12-09-2008, 14:13
I'm the same, Jimbo. 3 or 4 seasons before the club / save feels "my own". Also, as both my games are mid 2030's, I don't know if I could start again and go through the game with no regens in it. I'm carrying on with Gundo's Challenge to see if I can complete it. If I do, I'll consider picking up Daf's again, if not, I'll just play out Smylie's career, as I'm pretty sure he'll get around 2,500 goals.

12-09-2008, 14:46
I'll brag :D Mylatop was completely dead, however I've managed to get it back :evil smilie thing:

Unlucky though Nep, you were so close :(

12-09-2008, 14:51
I really felt 2-3 seasons would have done it. Thats not back to 6 or 7 after the work I did. I genuinely don't know how to do it again. I've got screenies from the 2 lost seasons, so I can still buy the same players and stuff. But still.... :(

12-09-2008, 14:59

I think that's what I'd find most annoying, thinking that you were only a couple of years away from getting the job done. Really do feel gutted for you Nep.

I'm a little late starting this challenge but what the hell.. I am now the new manager of Ilkeston Town!

Hope that link is ok

As a Forest fan I will be looking to bring in a few old boys... Jason Lee may still be able to bang a few in at this level! Hopefully Ill get Forest as a parent club. Not sure if I will get away with the famous flowing forest style for a while though....

AFC Wimbledon - Blue Square Premier Season 2009-10

After winning promotion to the Blue Square Premier handily, I knew that I would need to improve the overall quality of the squad in order to compete at a higher level. Fortunately, most of the dead weight in my squad was released on frees after their contracts expired, freeing up a load of salary money for me to utilize in attracting new players.

The board gave me a healthy kitty for transfers and I was happy to splash the cash on two fantastic youngsters at King's Lynn that my scouting network had managed to identify. 19-year old Welsh winger Robert Robinson (http://img53.imageshack.us/my.php?image=robinson2009cc1.png) was obtained for a large chunk of change at $220k. His team-mate, left-sided prospect Iain Lennon (http://img123.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lennon2009dl2.png), also joined AFC Wimbledon for an equally exorbitant $130k.

Most other players joined on frees, including veteran fullback Andy Frampton (http://img385.imageshack.us/my.php?image=frampton2009wc4.png) and talented midfielder Shaun Vipond (http://img385.imageshack.us/my.php?image=vipond2009xi5.png).

On the loan side of the squad, three Arsenal youngsters were obtained on season-long loans to increase the overall quality of the squad. Gavin Hoyte was happy to renew his loan and spend another season with AFC Wimbledon on the right side of defense. U-18 striker Luke Freeman (http://img254.imageshack.us/my.php?image=freeman2009op0.png) was also added to provide a capable backup to club favorite Jon-Paul Pittman and Tony Boto up front. Most notably, after a horrid season of inconsistent keepers in the BSS last year, I managed to secure the talented Wojciech Szczesny (http://img127.imageshack.us/my.php?image=szczesny2009th4.png) to provide some stability at the back.

Many other players were brought in for frees but didn't pan out and are currently rotting in the reserves.

Squad (http://img141.imageshack.us/my.php?image=squad2009qo9.png)

The League:
AFC Wimbledon got off to a hot start in the league and befuddled the pundits all year, who expected our form to drop eventually. We hit a rough patch of form around January when an injury crisis ravaged our strike-force. Tony Boto, and Luke Freeman were both down for multiple weeks and West Ham youngster Fred Sears was brought in to patch the cracks but failed to impress. Despite the adversity, we managed to stay consistent enough to emerge as BSP League Champions by the time the season was done!

Nothing at all of note to report in Wimbledon's cup competitions this year. Poor performances all around saw us fail to meet expectations as most our focus was on winning promotion to League2 for next year.

Manager Profile (http://img520.imageshack.us/my.php?image=managerprofile2009es3.png) - I am now a Regionally-known manager :) Note the poor Club/Player Loyalty though...

Conclusion/Looking Ahead
I didn't expect such success in my second season to be honest. Looking ahead at the quality of League 2, I think the team will struggle but I think we will be able to stay up with some comfort. I would like to shore up the defense and pick up another striker but I am having trouble attracting players of sufficient caliber as the reputation of the club still isn't high enough.

I have gotten permission from the board to expand the youth academy so that will be good news looking to the future. Tons of clubs have come in with offers for Robert Robinson and Iain Lennon (including Middlesborough and Birmingham) but they have thus far rejected my rather high asking price. My number one priority is to keep hold of my skilled players to stay up for next season so that I can build a good financial base for the club and begin to attract more talent in order to reach promotion in 2 or 3 seasons.

mdbussen: congratulations and good luck in League football:thup:

Nep. If going back to N.Ireland doesn't do it for you, then feel free to join me from the beginning again on this.

I've decided to play from the start with fake players because I don't want to be able to sign any players that I know about, and as a result it's proving pretty tough.

13-09-2008, 03:59
Who are you managing?

13-09-2008, 04:45
Hitchin. Currently 22nd in Conference South. 3 points behind 21st and 9 points behind 19th & safety.

This is looking ominously like my first FM relegation.

Played 18.
Won 1.
Drawn 5.
Lost 12.
Scored 19.
Conceded 43.
Goal diff -24.

13-09-2008, 06:55
Hitchin. End of Season 2008/09.

We were shocking at the start and at the end, but in the middle I managed to sign a young GK from Peterborough on loan for 3 months. He did well and kep 5 clean sheets in 13 games as our mini revival took us tempararily out of the relegation zone, but it was not enough and I was sacked for the first time ever (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202009%20Hitchin/SackedJune2009.jpg), (I think), in my FM career, as we got off the bottom but not out of the relegation zone. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202009%20Hitchin/LeagueTableJune2009.jpg)

I applied for the job at newly promoted Merthyr Tydfil but my performance last season was so bad that they weren't interested.

As a result I decided to reincarnate myself and install myself as the new manager of one of my local teams Borehamwood.

So here we go again:(.

13-09-2008, 08:15
Good luck at Borehamwood Jimbo.

It certainly doesn't give you an advantage so I'm pretty sure it'd be fine, I might join you when I finish/ get bored of my AFC game.

13-09-2008, 16:57
There is nothing in the rules about it and it certainly doesn't make it any easier, (quite the opposite in fact), so I can't imagine dafuge will have a problem with it.

I'm sure he will let us know either way in any case.

I will be struggling on regardless anyway.

By the way, now started this and have registered on website :). Now doing this AND Gundo's. I'm Matlock and currently after 17 games, am joint top :D

13-09-2008, 17:15
Ok Jimbo. Well, as I'm 1/3rd way through my Gundo's season, I'll finish the season (by tonight, hopefully) - and join you later on this evening. By then, Daf should have been able to give the  or :thdn: on fake players, too.

13-09-2008, 17:45
The issue was raised before and dafuge said it was okay to play without real players.

13-09-2008, 18:22
Ok. Well in that case, I'll start after I'm done with this current season

14-09-2008, 14:39
well after re-reading this thread i've come back. The new laptop also helps :D

I'm in charge of Merthyr Tydfil

14-09-2008, 15:21
That started well, had a bored takeover and was sacked:mad:

Am really down now as I had built a whole team. Dont know if I can face starting again, to tempting to sign all the same players, might try the carrer game instead

Note: I wrote down all the key stuff for every month but it's far too long to copy and paste. :D

AFC Hornchurch - Season 1 (08-09)

We trialled many young players, from Scotland, England, Wales, and even Poland and Bulgaria, with about half of them being offered a contract. Our squad was built relatively quickly and we managed to set up a link with West Ham to be their feeder club (I know, I know), in return they sent us Reid and Collison on loan for the season. Our squad was really just a squad of boys with our average age being just 18. Unfortunately, there was already takeover talks at the club. Director Ted Evans wanted to buy the club for 130k but pulled out in the end. Our first game was a 2-2 away draw at Basingstoke, Collison getting our first ever goal. Our first home match we got our first win against Mertyr Tydllwywlwyl, the score being 4-1 and Fairhurst was starting to impress. We took Tomkins on loan for 3 months due poor performances by Massey and Howells also picked up an injury.

October proved to be a bit more topsy-turvy, we were a bit inconsistent and Fairhurst's goals were drying up. It was at this time that John Connor stepped up to impress as did TPL (aka. That Polish Fella, the Polish guy's name I can never remember). After fielding a lot of youth in the cups we manage to get a draw against League One side Gillingham. 6 minutes in and not the start we'd had in mind after Nutter scored a free-kick from just outside the box, despite that the lads heads didn't go down and we got a goal back through our talisman John Connor. Half-time.

With the second half under way we carried on as before but chances for both sides we limited and Gillingham were starting to show some quality, we changed to a 4-1-4-1 to contain them but just after we conceded from a lapse of concentration as Oli scored for the Gills. It was to get worse as Williamson picked up a second yellow card dashing all hope of us getting through this David v Goliath tie...but the lads showed determination when, from a corner Tomkins scored in the 89th minute, 10 men had pulled back a dramatic equaliser. Celebrations didn't last long however as The Gills extra man showed, managing to easily open our defence and slotting in a third goal with a minute left, our run in the illustrious FA Cup was over, but we did well and I was proud of the lads. Now, our focus fell back on the league.

January, and we had made a good position for ourselves just over the half-way point of the season. An 11 point difference between us and nearest promotion hopefuls Weston-super-Mare had given us hope that we can get the title, still, we knew there was still a long road to travel and we must stay consistent, we had dropped a few points over the last 5 games or so, but luckily so did the teams below us, but we knew it only takes a team with a couple of wins to suddenly grind those points back. We brought in Spence on loan due to injuries to both our central defenders.

After 20 games unbeaten we lost 3-2 against AFC Wimbledon away from home, two turn of events in that game had got me thinking a) Blake, despite being a very good fullback was conceding too many penalties and becoming a liability and b) Reid missed a penalty, we need a solid penalty taker since we've missed a lot this season. Still, no reason to be down since after 35 games we're 17 points clear of Cambridge City and have got ourselves a play-off spot, we now need a win to secure unofficial promotion since our goal difference is far superior.........The 4-0 win over Hayes & Yeading had given us the title and promotion from the Conference South...unofficially. We now would have to lose all our games and concede around 55 goals to mess up. Our next game on March 28th we beat relegation candidates Fisher 5-2 to get the title, officially. Happy days.

Guiseley Update 08/09 Season

I didnt have high expectations going into the season as we only had 14 players signed up by the time our first game came around and the oldest of these was only 20. Although we did manage to sign another 8-9 by the middle of September, including probably the best signing this season 37 Year old Tommy Mooney.

(Forgot to take a screenshot of the squad but the best XI is nearly as good)

The season got of to a fantastic start as went unbeaten for the first 15 games before losing to League leaders Leigh RMI. Despite what i thought was a very good start we were only in 3rd position and 6 points behind Leigh.

The response to our first defeat was magnificent as we went on a club record winning streak of 11 games this included a 4-0 hammering of second place Nuneaton and a 5-0 thrashing of Hucknall and this great run put the Lions 9 points clear of second place. Marine were the side that finally ended this divison record with a 2-1 win.

This defeat was the start of a more difficult spell for Guiseley as 5 defeats and only 6 wins from the last 14 games saw their 9 point advantage disappear and bring the title battle down to the last day.
Seeing as we had a much better goal difference to second place nuneaton we just had to beat 17th place Gainsborough.

Going into the game we werent in the best form as the previous two games had resulted in defeat but this was soon forgotten as Guiseley romped into a 4 goal lead at half time thanks to 2 goals from the prolific Zavon Hines, one from Debutant Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu and a Daryl Taylor og. Nuneaton on the other hand were being held 1-1 away at Redditch.

Every thing went the same way as the first half as Ndumbu-Nsungu added a fifth for Guiseley to see them take the title by 2 points as Nuneaton struggled to a draw against Redditch.

In the cups we had mixed fortunes as we only made the first round of the FA Trophy and the Third round of the Setanta Shield. But we had a good cup run as we knocked at local rivals Harrogate as well as Halifax at the Shay before being put out on penalties by League One Bradford after holding them to 1-1 draws at home and away.

Next seasons aim is to make sure we survive although i am hoping for a bit better than that really and another FA Cup run would be very welcome to help boos the clubs finances. New additions will be needed as star performers from last season Scott Gardner and Lee Hildreth will have finished there loans and most probably wont be returning but overall things are looking good.

Real London FC got caught up in the 2035 time warp 3 days ago, leaving them all the way back in June '08 - without anyone realizing what actually happened. Its just cause that this was the day that manager Craig "NepentheZ" Douglas took over the club all those years ago as a young hopeful, and he will have to do all his hard work again. (Although he doesn't know what his "future" held).

Here, yet again, is the profile of NepentheZ

NepentheZ - Managers Profile (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Real%20London%20II/InitialProfile.jpg)

Last time around, it took me a long time to progress through the divisions. With what I learned playings Daf's Challenge the first time round with Real London, I have a feeling it could be a lot quicker this time. My chances of completing this, or Gundo's Challenge look pretty slim now, but I'll give it a shot. Wish me luck. :)

Jimbo - Didn't want to leave you out in the cold, mate, so here I am, no real players - looking forward to it.

Its not easy mate, I assure you that. Especially as the work with the Youth Projects was a massssssive part of my game there. I'd invested hours on that, and was really looking to getting a team littered with my own youth players.

Breaking News

Real London Chairman, David Robinson is looking to Step Down from the board. (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Real%20London%20II/Chairman.jpg)

Unsure as to weather he'll sell the club, or appoint another board member as Chairman, NepentheZ is already having doubts over weather or not he'll be able to keep his job at Real London. :(

NepentheZ released the following statement -

"I hope the new chairman can see my ambition and love for this club, and keep me on as manager. I understand that with a new Chairman comes new ideas, but I'm positive I can be everything he wants me to be"

Its not easy mate, I assure you that. Especially as the work with the Youth Projects was a massssssive part of my game there. I'd invested hours on that, and was really looking to getting a team littered with my own youth players.
Will you be focusing on that this time too or put that in the background and focus instead on getting promoted faster?

16-09-2008, 14:37
I'll still do it. I think I learned a lot last time, so may not give them as much exposure, but Its definitely something that I've incorporated into FM for myself.

16-09-2008, 14:37

I was just coming in to ask the same thing!

I did enjoy the youth player project - gave the game extra depth.

Welcome back Nep.

I must admit that after getting relegated and sacked with Hitchin in 2009 I was expecting a long hard slog with Borehamwood, but I am already getting a "feel" for the team and I am easing into it nicely, (league position is unimportant at this stage, although 15 games unbeaten in the mid part of the season certainly helps)).

I suppose inheriting "home grown" players such as Scott Doch (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/ScottDochMarch2010.jpg) make it easier.

I have never had a player of such ability come through at such a lowly reputation club that I was managing.

He has only just turned 17, (in January), so up until that time he was on a part time youth contract, hence the reason why I have been reluctant to start him every week despite him being my best striker.

My coaches think that he has the potential to become a leading League 2 player and I would expect him to be able to play at least in League 1 and possibly in the Championship, so I would hope that he will become the early focus of my save.

16-09-2008, 15:22
Nice one Jimbo. That guy has mad potential, as his Physical and Technical are already decent, and will get better in time, and we all know Mental continue to progress throughout the players career. Could have a superstar on your hands there.!!!

I'm struggling right now, tbh. I just can't find a comfortable first team to go with, and although am still in pre season, I'm not entirely sure the squad I've got can even get me mid-table :(

This could be very, very bad news for me :(

Seeing as Nep and Jimbo are giving this one last go before '09 comes out, I think I'll join in with the fun one last time.

Think I'll untick real players, just to spice things up. :D

Welcome back Happy Slappy. Good luck mate

Real London Update :

The Consortium bid crashed (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Real%20London%20II/Consortiumout.jpg) after just a few weeks of negotiations. This was a surprise, as current Real London chairman expressed his desire to leave the club.

In league news, Real London are finding it hard to put any sort of consistency together, Winning games 4-0 followed by 3-1 losses. They are currently 12th in the table after 10 games, but have lost to 2 teams in the bottom 4. Signing are needed to be made, as the team seems prone to getting injuries. NepentheZ feels that with a bit of added quality at the back, and a decent winger, this team could possibly achieve promotion, but with no tranfer funds available, this wont be easy to achieve.

NepentheZ has signed some players, mainly young free transfers, a few with mass potential, but all will be revealed come the end of season update.

17-09-2008, 10:37
Borehamwood. Season 09/10 Update.

2008/09 Finished 21st in Conference as manager of Hitchin. (Sacked).

So at the beginning of the season I was surprised that I actually inherited some talent. After 1 full seasons worth of scouting I now had a few targets that I wanted to bring into my new club and as a result I highlighted the following 3 players as playing pivotal roles this season.

Scott Doch. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/DohertyAug2009.jpg)A product of the youth acadamy, he was already my best striker and the coaches said that he had the potential to play in League 1. I love basing my games around the long term careers or individual players and this guy already seems to be one of the front-runners.

Chef. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/RhodesAug2009.jpg)So this guy might be old but just look at that set-piece ability. His lack of pace might cause us to struggle at the back at times, but as I plan on playing with big lumbering centre-backs in a pretty deep defensive line we might just get away with it. If he can do as well as I hope from dead-ball situations then he could be an inspired signing.

Tom. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/TomAug2009.jpg) He's still young and a bit raw but has a decent spread of quality throughout his makeup that makes me feel that he will be very effective at this level. Although he can play as a centre-back, he will actually play at MC as he is too good on the ball to be wasted at DC with the limited scope that I give them to actualy play.

I was tasked with attempting to avoid relegation and I upped this t actualy avoiding relegation as managing in the bottom league in the structure would meant the same end result if we finished in the bottom 3.

So first lets have a look at how my "hot prospects" got on.

Scott Doch. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/ScottDochprofileMay2010.jpg) 21 goals when he didn't have his 17th birthday until January is pretty impressive. Even more impressive is that he only started 11 games all season.

Chef. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/ChefprofileMay2010.jpg) 17 goals and 33 assists is not too bad for an old-timer who I wasn't even confidant enough of to offer him a full-time contract. (It may have been a blessing in disguise as only training part-time meant that he didn't get too tired during the long season and only had to be rested a couple of times. I never got tired of seeing the ball fly into the top corner from fully 35 yards.

Tom. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/TomprofileMay2010.jpg) 1 goal and 10 assists is a pretty meagre return stats-wise, but I was delighted with his season. My MC's are given pretty defensive instructions so his average stats are not too much of an issue.

So all in all I would have to say that all 3 exceeded my expectations.

Now down to the nitty gritty.

Conference South Table. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/LeagueTableMay2010.jpg)

Conference South Graph. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/LeagueGraphMay2010.jpg)

We started off slowly but then as the team started to gel and the increased training as a result if the full-time contracts started to kick in then we became VERY hard to beat, (although we also drew far too many games that we should have won).

The season culminated in the Conference South Playoff Semi-Final (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/ConferenceSouthPlayoffSemi-FinalMay.jpg)but although we gave it a good go, (we were struggling with injuries), we came up just short as our squad was eventually stretched too thin.

I brought in 2 season long loans.

Loan 1 GK. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/Loan1GKMay2010.jpg)

Loan 2 DC. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/Loan2DCMay2010.jpg)

I'm not a fan of bringing in plajyers who ae way better than the rest of the players in the league and my team so I tried to make sure that they would fit in and not stand out too much. The idea od signing a Man Utd youngster and watching him score 40 goals a season just doesn't appeal to me. These 2 were good, but not any better than players at other clubs in the league.

I also bought in 6 short term loans during the season from teams such as Luton, Reading, Leyton Orient, & Millwall. These were decent players but none that really stood out and none that I considered it unrealisic that they were playing at this level.

Some other squad players tha made an impression.

Carl Lee. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/CarlLeeprofileMay2010.jpg) He wasn't my first choice at AMC but after my #1 choice got injured a couple of times early on he took advantage and really made the position his own. His physical ability meant that we was a dominant force in the air from set-pieces and with the precision balls coming in from Chef it was easy. If he had more ability with the ball he would have scored closer to 50 goals. He was shortlisted for the Conference South player of the season award, (an won the Fans Player of the Year), but to be honest I'm not a fan. He honestly missed more than he scored and it was only the quality of the rest of the team that provided him with s many opportunities.

JJ. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/JJprofileMay2010.jpg)One of my loan signings was a DR and he kept JJ out of the picture for a while but I soon realised that there wasn't much between them so I opted to nplay my own player and play the loanee on the bench.

Peter Denton. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/PeterDentonprofileMay2010.jpg) Was first choice on the right flank until he got injured twards the end of the season. We really missed him in the playoff games as we didn't have a decent replacement.

Rudd. (http://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/?action=view&current=RuddprofileMay2010.jpg) Was played at both right back and centr-half depending on who else was available and where we needed him. A decent squad player.

Yasser Kelly. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/YaserKellyprofileMay2010.jpg)He wasn't as good as Scott Doch, but started more often as I looked to ease Doch into the team gradually. 17 goals from someone with such limited ability is not to be siffed at, however he will not be here again next season if I can help it.

Squad Stats. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/SquadStatsMay2010.jpg)

Information. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/InfoMay2010.jpg)

Finances. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/FinancesMay2010.jpg) The reason they look so healthy is because I managed to sell 3 squad players for £79,000 during the season and have sold another 2 more over the close season for £115,000. None of the players mentioned above were sold so it shouldn't impact the team too much. After spending much of my FM08 btime managing in N.Ireland it appears that the value i the English structure is impacted far too much by physical ability.

Confidence. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/ConfidenceMay2010.jpg)

My scout found this guy, (real name has been changed). (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/SiBHAprofileMay2010.jpg)He is the Fred of forum member, Brighton researcher and part of the testing team Si BHA.

Cups. The focus of my attention was and is the league, so I tried to rotate players at least for the Cup games, and as a result didn't make too much progress.

FA Cup. Lost 4-1 to Stevenage in the First Round of the FA Cup, after being held to 2 replays in the qualifying rounds as we progressed past Maidenhead, Swindon Supermarine & Banbury.

Setanta Shield. Lost 1-0 to Grays in the 4th Round after dispatching Cheshunt, AFC Wimbledon and Havant & W along the way.

FA Trophy. Lost in the 3rd Qualifying Round to Droylsdon. This was the only competition where I did not at least meet the boards expectations.

Seasonal Best 11. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/SeasonalBest11May2010.jpg)

Jamie Stannard (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/StannardprofileMay2010.jpg) is rated as the best of the youngsters that have just been promoted.

The others seem to be of a similar ability, (not great), but Yank (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202010%20Borehamwood/YankprofileMay2010.jpg)is of interest simply because he was born in Rockwall, Texas, USA.

For the coming season the board expect me to achieve a safe mid-table position. I would hope for at least playoffs again but I am keeping the expectations as they are, as I don't plan on spending anything on players, and only want to sign young players who's demand for big wages should not too high.

17-09-2008, 16:01
Excellent season Jimbo. Unlucky not to have came first in the end. I bet you was delighted taking 1st even just for a few games. Docherty is looks like he could be great, and a nice amount fo goals returned too. Lets hope I can have the same sort of effect this season.!

happy slappy

Well, after deciding to take one last go at this Challenge, I decided to take over as manager of Merthyr Tydfil, oh the joy.

So, here I am (http://i34.tinypic.com/2vl8ifc.jpg)

And here is the team info (http://i34.tinypic.com/2wdwpwj.jpg)

With fake players, this is going to be hard, but fun I hope.

17-09-2008, 18:17
It should make it harder Happy.

What I wasn't expecting though was a significant reduction in the number of available players at the beginning of the 2nd season. Because the nationalities are all scrambled, I found a large number of players in the English game who start playing at in the English structure, despite not having a work permit to be able to do so.

As a result, my scout is finding me players that have been released by English clubs, (and whom are still based in England), but whom I don't have any chance of signing because they are of Conference quality, which might be what i am looking to sign but it generally doesn't allow them to qualify for a work permit, (which they need to work here). If they can't get get a work permit now, how did they come to be playing in England in the first place.

Real London breaking news :

Consortium completes takeover. (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Real%20London%20II/Uhoh.jpg)

The chairman of Real London, relentless to get out of the club has finally sold up to a consortium lead by Dave Hammond.

This isn't the best news for manager NepentheZ, because unknown "Ass Man" Michael Wright is looking to take over from NepentheZ sooner rather than later.

I fear my tenure at Real London could be over before its begun. :(

18-09-2008, 00:05
My fears were confirmed just shortly after the takeover.

NepentheZ - Sacked. (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Real%20London%20II/Sacked.jpg)

Its a crying shame, too. I'd taken the club to 4th, with just 12 games to go, and only 2 points off the leaders. My form was magnificent, and my 40 year old striker had 45 goals in 41 starts, and I had a 16 year old super striker, who hit 25 goals in 38 games. I took the club to the 1st Round of the F.A Cup, in which we replayed every game up until then, and only managed the 1st Round of the Setanta Shield S.

I had very big hoped that I could take this team high, a lot quicker than last time I tried, but wasn't even given the chance. I'm gutted. I'll holiday until the end of the season and see what else gets promoted.

After Douglas' departure from Real London FC, the club decided to revert back their own name "AFC Wimbledon", leaving Douglas to take his Real London legacy with him.

Formerly named Hendon are the club who hired Douglas, taking his Real London FC name with him. Real London, a small club just north of Euston, Tottenham Court Road, and the infamous Oxford Street have a very small squad, but a manager with a big heart for the club.

the club formally known as Hendon (Which from here on out will be known as Real London) - Hire Douglas. (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Hendon/Hired.jpg)

Unlucky Nep. It's a marathon not a sprint though.

Nep - Unlucky to get sacked mate. Good luck with the new Real London.

Have you started a new game or just contiued on from the same one?

18-09-2008, 08:05
Decided to jump on the bandwagon and try again with real players turned off. After half an hour of reloading, lowest reputation team I found was Tiverton, so went with them.

Surprised to find it has 2 parent clubs as well as better youth facilities than most.

Spent the last 2 hrs trying to find and trial unattached players. As Jimbo mentioned before, I noticed a lot less players to choose from this time around. This might be somewhat to do with Tiverton being in a smaller population area though.

Profile (http://img172.imageshack.us/my.php?image=profilega9.jpg)

Found this kid in my u-18's. There were 5 players there (none in seniors or reserves) but this one looks to have some promise. Hopefully he'll improve unlike most players who start at the club ;)

Yea I know. I just built some really strong foundations there :(

Nep - Unlucky to get sacked mate. Good luck with the new Real London.

Just continued on mate

What a rollercoaster. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202011%20Borehamwood/RollercoasterOct2010.jpg)

1-0 down in the last minute, we grab a deserved equaliser.

Then we go up the other end and grab a winner.

Only to throw it all away and concede another.

18-09-2008, 11:18
nep-might have been asked before but what season where you in when you got sacked?how come the date on the bottom of the screen says 2009?

18-09-2008, 11:31
I was in the first season, but late on, so instead of starting again and holidaying through 10 months, I just holidayed the last 2 months of teh current season and started again with "Hendon" - who were one of the teams I could manage, along with Marine and Whitby Town, who were both promoted into the BSN. I'm very much a BSS man, hence the reason I picked who I did.

18-09-2008, 12:23
I did exactly the same when relegated and sacked by Hitchin.

Not only does it save holidaying through a whole season, but you also have the benefit of an increased likelyhood of strange teams getting promoted and the big thing for me is that I had already spent a full year scouting.

I hate the first season.

18-09-2008, 15:17
I may well have bitten of more than I can chew here :D

Just ending pre-season, after some extensive work with the club, sorting out staff (I had none.!) and players (I only had that seasons promoted youth.!) - but am still yet to make a single signing with just 7 days until the new season begins :(

However, thats the least of my worries.

Pre-Season results

Walton Casuals 3 : 2 Real London
Prescott Cables 5 : 0 Real London
Real London 0 : 10 Leyton Orient
Real London 0 : 3 Wembley (GTF)

And I've one last pre season game, v Burgess Hill, although like the rest, the result doesn't matter, since the team I have now I'm 100% certain wont be the team I'll have in 8 weeks time.

18-09-2008, 15:54
:D 10-0!!!!

Sorry to gloat nep.

18-09-2008, 16:00
Its ok. I even lost to Burgess Hill. These are clubs that have no real players, demolishing me. I fear this season could be very long, and very hard.

18-09-2008, 16:11
My first game of the new season is against Dorchester, who finished 2nd last season in this division. I can only field a team of 9 players that aren't "grey" - and only managed to sign 2 new players in then entire tranfer window. The absolute lack of quality that are interested in signing for me is astounding.

Anyway, here goes.........

*6 minutes later*

Real London 1 - 4 Dorchester.

I'm actually delighted. I expected to get battered here by 6 or 7 goals, but actually took the lead after 9 minutes with a stunning 45 yard strike. The old "he never meant it" caption came up, but I know he really did. Anywho, 2-1 down at half time, and expected an onslaught in the second half, but it just never came. A lot of building to do from here on in, but at least I know that even the decent teams wont spank me this season :)

18-09-2008, 16:30
Just to lift the gloom a little from Nep's leaking of goals, my DC has just scored a hat-trick, (all from corners), and he wasn't set to challenge the GK.

18-09-2008, 19:23
Anyone got any idea how to post an update with hyperlinks to screenshots in it?

18-09-2008, 19:35
You mean like my updates?

18-09-2008, 19:37
I think it is like my updates, so just upload your picture to www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) then take the Direct link (The normal URL) and copy it. Come onto the forums. Type some text, (IE - League Table) - highlight the text, then click on the world with the chain link. It will open up a box. Paste the URL into the box, and hit ok. Bam. Your text is now a hyperlink

I've done the uploading stuff but I can't seem to get the hyperlink thing on the right click menu, I've managed to insert them in word, but they won't copy over.

Guiseley 09/10 Season update

Well it proved to be a bit of dull season of midtable obscurity for us in our first season in the Blue Square but that was what i was expecting really and 17th isnt too bad in the end as survival was the original target.

The pleasing thing about the season was that we were always around 15-19th place and never really looked like dropping into the relegation zone. Although we were really inconsitant and had a poor home record we achieved safety with 6 games to go but after that we lost 5 out of the last 6 games which is a bit worrying for next season.

In the FA Cup we made the second round after beating Fleetwood and Dorchester but we wasted a great chance to make the Third round by losing at home to York which was very disappointing.

The FA Trophy didnt last long again this season as we lost in the first round to Kettering.
In the Setanta we got as far as the fifth round before losing to Forest Green but in the previous round we did produce a club record 7-0 win over Alfreton.

Here's my squad.

I wanted to give the majority of last seasons players a chance and quite a lot of them welll mainly the defenders arent that good for this division so there will be a lot of changes as i would like to be challenging for a playoff place next season.

18-09-2008, 19:55

Follow this link (http://community.sigames.com/profile.php?do=editoptions). Go to the bottom of the page and change the bottom drop-down box to "Full WYSIWYG Editing". Click Save Changes, and you should be able to do what NepentheZ suggested.

If the link doesn't work, go to the top of the page and click "User CP". Find "Edit Options" in the sidebar and you will be taken to the page the link was supposed to take you to.

Season 2 – Blue Square South - Tiverton Town

In pre-season I strengthened the small squad as we had been relying too much on youth team players, we signed 7 players on frees and 3 on loan from our 2 parent clubs.

Transfers (http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=WD3WcIwBpyzwcZOh4S9JJA%3D%3D)

Our pre-season friendly’s consisted of 3 wins and 4 losses, as I played 7 games to try and get a look at a few triallists.

The season began poorly with us loosing our first two matches before a 3-2 win home against Braintree got us off the mark, which was followed up by 3 successive losses which saw us languishing in the relegation zone. Our topsy-turvy season continued as we scored 3 successive wins, against Welling, Basingstoke and Eastleigh. A 3-2 loss to AFC Wimbledon was the pre-cursor to our FA Cup 2nd qualifying round match away against Blyth. It was a tough match which saw us come away with a 1-1 draw and a replay a couple of days later. The replay was a tough affair and we slipped up to a 3-1 defeat, losing in the same round of the FA Cup for the second season running. Two more losses (One coming in the Setanta Shield) saw us settle into a position just above the relegation zone. We then got into a period of crazy goal filled games. In the next 5 games, two wins, two losses and one draws yielded 17 goals scored and 14 goals succeeded. A 1-1 draw with Bognor Regis preceded a humiliating loss in the FA Trophy 4-1 to Ramsgate. Two more losses to Bromley and Merthyr Tydfil saw us going into the Christmas period not knowing what to expect. No-one amongst the Tiverton support would have expected 3 wins in 4 games, including a 5-1 thumping of Newport County, as we went into the new year as the division’s form team. January brought mixed fortunes as we lost on New Years Day 3-0 and twice more in the month, only managing a solitary win. After losing the last 2 matches of January we were hoping for more of December in February. We didn’t get it, losing all 4 matches and the first game in March, taking our losing streak to 7 matches. After that the 4-1 win against Chelmsford was a huge relief, and the following 3 games resulting in 3 wins was almost beyond belief. A 4-1 defeat away at Merthyr Tydfil was the inevitable blip, but 3 games later, and 3 wins later we had won 7 out of the last 8 games to move up to a solid 14th place finish.

Yep, I thought it was right click as that's how it worked in MS Word and I didn't have the full editing thing selected.

Just starting as a practise run for FM2009. Managing Tiverton Town. Sort of localish, and Argyle as a parent club (although we may have to get rid of the link with Exeter!!!). Anyways, no expecting much. Just seeing how it goes for the next game!

Scott Doch (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202011%20Borehamwood/ScottDochprofileJan2011.jpg) sets a new record for most goals in a season (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202011%20Borehamwood/Record27goalsinaseason.jpg).

27 goals by January is good by anyone's standards. When you consider that they have been scored in only 8(25) appearances it's simply amazing.

(Note the improvement in his composure, concentration, creativity, off the ball and technique).

We are on a run of 12 wins and 1 draw in our last 13 games, (I am sure we will lose the next one now I have mentioned that). In case anyone thinks that we are hammering teams every week and that everyone is scoring goals and goals and more goals, we only have 1 other player in double figures, (our starting SC has 12). This puts the achievements of young Scott Doch into perspective.

It seems to be really working, playing him from the bench. He stays fit and finds himself up against tiring defenders who have already spent most of the game grafting by the time he comes on. With another 14 games of the season to go I am hopeful of him hitting the 40 goal mark for the season. I will keep him starting on the bench in any case but it looks like next season he could be ready to be unleashed.

We are currently sitting 2nd in the league, (1 point behind Billericay) and I'm desperate to keep the momentum going and avoid the playoffs. Having only 1 automatic promotion spot is a right buggar!

Typical! (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202011%20Borehamwood/Typical.jpg)

Nice work Jimbo, He's only out for 6 to 14 days, it'll be ok :D

19-09-2008, 00:11
5 Games into the league campaign. and I'm 0 for 5 :( and only 2 goals scored.

I'm really struggling.

19-09-2008, 00:14
His replacement, (who had previously played over 11 hours without scoring), was brought on in the 2nd half and helped himself to a hat-trick;).

You're not making me feel any better Jimbo :(

GAH. 0-7 now. I just cant score. Cant win, cant even get close. This is bad. I fear I could be sacked again.

19-09-2008, 00:52
\o/ - I spoke too soon. I was 3-0 down at half time to Thurrock, so came on here to complain. Just scored 3 in 9 minutes to make it 3-3 at full time, and my first point is on the board.!

Your on a roll now:D.

Not really. there was 5 goals in the next game. I scored none of them. :( If I make it to half way through the season, I'll be amazed. My players are so pathetic, and I've scouted every single player thats interested in coming to me now too, and none of them can improve my squad :(

19-09-2008, 01:27
Great news. I scored 5 goals in 1 game

Bad news. So did they. I lead 2-0, 3-1, 4-2 and 5-4 with seconds left. 5-5 FT.

Ahhhh its ok, I hear you say. Barton Rovers next in the F.A Cup 2nd Qual Rd. Barton Who? Exactly.

....Theres Hitting a new low....

....Theres dire straights .....

....Theres rock bottom ....

Then, theres Real London.

Barton Rovers 3 - 0 Real London.

How on earth am I expected to do anything ever with a pile of carp like this.

I'm exhausting myself trying to make this team work.

That sucks. It sounds like I was just licky to inherit a decent youngster like Doch, and then even more lucky to be able to pick up someone like Chef with his set-piece ability.

I got a GK and a DC in on loan, I signed a decent young MC, and I just fleshed out the rest of the squad around that framework.

If you really think there is no hope then maybe you should considering just jumping before you are pushed, holdidaying to 18th June and going again. It seems like you might be wasting your time with Hendon.

19-09-2008, 08:56
ps. Needless to say that Scott Doch got crocked on his return to the team and will now be out for about 6 weeks.:(

As a direct result, we fail to score for the first tijme in 19 games.

Although we obviously didn't win, at least we didn't lose.

Our league form stands at 15 wins and 2 draws in our last 17 league games.

With 19 league gams remaining, we have eventually overhauled Billericay at the top of the table, (albeit only on goal difference), and our 12 points clear of 3rd. I'm gonna be soooo gutted if we finish 2nd. Billericay have no injury worries and 3 strikers who have scored more than 20 goals this season:(.

Scott Doch is back in training but it his appears that his exploits are now attracting some unwanted attention. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202011%20Borehamwood/Dochbackintrainingattractinginteres.jpg)

This should help keep the Wolves from the door though. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202011%20Borehamwood/Dochbacksignsnew5yeardeal.jpg) £28k over 5 years is only £100 per week by the way.

As his ability has increased, (and as the of JPP my best scout has improved from 18 to 20), so have the reports regarding his potential.

He is now regarded as a potential good Championship player of the future and aready he is classed as a good signing for any League 1 side. (http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g118/Jimbokav1971/dafuge%202011%20Borehamwood/Dochcoachreports.jpg)

Quite amazed at my good fortune.

Yea a few loan signings would make a massive difference. The board are reluctant to allow me a parent club, however. Unfortunately, its not in my nature to jump ship, no matter how fast its sinking, and I'll plug away, confident that I can turn things around. Today, I'm literally going to spend most of my free time looking for new, better players, even those that don't appear to be interested in me. I've got 1 player who's BSP quality now, and although he can play MC, I play him upfront. I should possibly change that and have him as the focus point of the teams. Also, I may change tactics to long ball game and get a big man up front, because my pass, pass, shoot style isn't working.

19-09-2008, 12:58
Nep. What I did during my first season, (when I thought it was likely that I was going to get the sack), is I employed 3 scouts and gave them each the following instructions.

1. Best JPP scout. Scout Reserve League looking for players below 18 only. Also send him to search England looking only for players U18.

2. 2nd best JPP scout. Scout Reserve League looking for players below 21 only. Also send him to search England looking for players U21.

3. 3rd scout, (weakest a JPP). Send him to scout next opposition and also send him to scout England looking for players of all ages valued at ba maximum of £0.

When you get your reports back, have a look at what you have and anyone who looks even decent, send the same scout to scout him for 2 matches. The 2 matches plus the initial report sgould give you a good indication.

When you get the sack at the end of the season it should give you a pretty good shortlist of players that might be available to sign on a free having been released, or be able to sign on loan.

Cheers Jimbo, I'll set that up now. Fortunately, I'm still quite early in the season and do have a chance to get out of the relegation zone.
