Gateshead - Blue Square Premier - 10/11

October Update

After the disappointment of defeat in last seasons play off final we have started this season extremely well. Unbeaten in our first 8 matches and only one point behind the league leaders, Gateshead sit 3rd in the league.

Fixtures (http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/8835/fixturesfo3.jpg)

League Table (http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/3788/leagueal3.jpg)

I wasn't able to re-sign goal hero Ryan Donaldson, or Stuart Bath, or Shane Ferguson as they all left Newcastle and wouldn't accept a contract http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif. However, I did manage to get back Dave Edwards, and also signed right back Liam Davidson and central midfielder Rod Neville, all on loan from Newcastle. I also brought in a few other players on free transfers.

Gloucester City - Conference South - Pre-Season 2008

It seems to have taken ages to sign up a squad of players and get through pre-season. However, I've finally started in the league and seem to be off to a good start, with a 7-0 thrashing of AFC Telford in my last friendly and a 4-0 whipping of Bognor in my first competitive game.

I do seem to be able to play much better football with this team (Gloucester City) than I could with Barrow in the demo challenge. They're passing it around like pro's and their finishing is deadly at the moment. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Best moment so far: one of my attacking midfielders just scored a free-kick which was an exact replica of the Ronaldinho world cup goal against David Seaman. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

After a month with my only football being pre-season friendlys my board come up with this message (http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/2788/complainingboardsi6.jpg).

I'd love to know how small a defeat they were expecting against West Ham (parent club). I'll admit all my pre-season results have been below par, but still seems a bit of a harsh message.

I've noticed that there always seems to be something negative in the board confidence update, however picky it might be.

This one (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/1609.jpg) annoyed me.

Legendary status 20.

Arjan De Zeeuw is the new Stamford captain. I just hope his technical abilities overule his lack of pace! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

Hopefully he will retire into coaching at the end of the season http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

That seems like an equally stupid thing for a board to say. Surely they should be pleased you even got to the playoffs.

Exactly.

Especially since I was predicted to come 22nd at the start of the season and Salisbury finished three places and 18 points above me. I thought 1-1 was a pretty good result.

I've just managed to sign what I hope will be two very important youth players if I can keep hold of them. Micky Stewart (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/mickystewart.jpg) and Anthony Parker (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/anthonyparker.jpg). Scoring goals was a big problem last season and I hope that these two can put an end to that, my scout found both, along with about 20 terrible players.

dafuge, I noticed you are also using the SS08 kits, do you happen to have a pack with AFC Hornchurch in. The pack I have for some reason refuses to these kits on my game, when it shows every other kit included in the pack perfectly. Plus I opened the file and the away kit was scaled too small also. If you have these, is it possible you could forward them to me please? Email in my profile if you can. Many thanks.

Oh right, I got it from FMGLive at this (http://fmglive.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2542) link. They seem to be having site trouble at the moment as they have been on and offline all day, but that is where the kits are originally uploaded to and they have far more already up than the sortitoutsi link does.

I can send you the pack I have if you like to your email, all the kits are in there, but as I say, no matter what I do I can't make the Hornchurch one display in game despite the config file definitely being correct.

I can't work out why they are not working either.

That pack seems to be missing the AFC Wimbledon kits.

I've also got this problem with a few of the Brazilian kits from the SS08 ones from that site. For example I definitely have the pics and config files correct for the club Flamengo, yet the home kit always appears jet black with nothing on it and no matter what I do or change I can't seem to get it to show the SS08 kit - and I have a friend who is also getting the same problem. I guess it's more a question for the graphics forum.

Also yeah, I didn't realise that the AFC Wimbledon kit was missing from that until you just said it - probably just a badly put together pack or something. But yeah, I'm getting problems with several teams SS08 kits not displaying, like Hornchurch and the jet black kit for Flamengo in Brazil.

League Position Graph (http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2706/10212007012608hq8.jpg)

Absolutely delighted to get promoted with my first attempt. Quite suprised aswell as I would have settled for a top half finish. Anyway we were extremely lucky to get Bristol City as a parent club and they gave me 3 players ; the best being Frankie Artus (http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/2497/10212007012940tq4.jpg) who was outstanding for me. My club captain Darren Edwards (http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/1791/10212007013036ik1.jpg) did well for me aswell and finished as top scorer.

Looking forward to starting the new season in the Blue Square Premier now http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Create a folder call 'graphics' in My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2008 and just extract the kit packs into there, you can organise it however you want inside the graphics folder, make folders called 'kits' 'logos' etc or not bother. As long as they are in there they should work fine.

Then go into the game and go to preferences, then to your display settings, untick 'use skin cache' and tick 'always reload skin on confirm' then click confirm. They should appear in game then.

Season 2008/09 Review - Hendon in the Blue Square South

League Winners (http://static.pici.se/pictures/UsrjXlPeW.png) (Table (http://static.pici.se/pictures/mXPCgMqYn.png))
Won it with 3 games left to play.

Final League Table (http://static.pici.se/pictures/oahIGOElh.png)
A pretty comfortable winning margin. Settled for promising to stay up at the start of the season, and frankly never really expected more.

Past Positions (http://static.pici.se/pictures/coTPSDyHl.png)
Shaky start. Steadied up and never let go.

Transfers (http://static.pici.se/pictures/qpzKXKqbQ.png)
The Fulham link certainly played its role in this lil' upset. No less than 6 loans from them; all key players while at the club. Also completed my first player sale, and very pleased with the deal. Gemmill was among the youngsters already at the club when I was put in charge.

Manager of the Season (http://static.pici.se/pictures/FQJnXFWgl.png)
Yet they didn't give me a single Manager of the Month award...

Confidence (http://static.pici.se/pictures/aCWdVQaSO.png)
Meeting and exceeding the expectations. Hopefully I can keep this up in the Blue Square Premier.

Marine AFC Hire rookie manager Machi Gun-Head

Upon promotion to the Blue Square North, club chairman Peter Saxton decided it was time for a fresh start, and hired unproven Australian manager Machi Gun-Head. Saxton announced his plans to be a force to be reckoned with in the Blue Square North within the next three years.

Upon his arrival, Machi Gun-Head has been well received by the relentless Mariners fans, telling the press that, "The 200 or so fans who come out to watch the Mariners strut their stuff every week have greeted me with open arms. I'm looking forward to a long successful era with Marine AFC, and so are they. There is a real sense of confidence and belief around the club, and in the dressing room."

Pundits are declaring that Gun-Head's success in the Blue Square North will depend entirely upon his creativity in the transfer market. Being given a non-existent transfer fund, and an imaginary back room staff, Machi Gun-Head has it all to do at Marine AFC.

That's awesome. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Read in one of the blogs that you could choose what type of feeder club you wanted to have, but when you first request one at the start of the game you don't get a 'type' choice. Suppose it makes sense for the board to make you wait until you have been there a while for this to happen.

End of Season update 2008/09 - Chippenham Town

Chippenham town managed to go up at the 1st attempt in the closest season I have ever had on FM. It all came down to a last minute goal that meant my goal difference was the same as Salisbury, meaning I got promoted on goals scored!

My tie-up with Bristol City did me wonders with Chris Fagan the star man throughout the season.

WORKSOP

I got Wealdstone as my parent club!!!

Safe to say I'm changing it at the end of the season.

Anyone any tips on tactics (not formations) I've a big lumbering target man who is decent in the air and a whippet of a striker to play alongside him.

Tried this season to get 'names' in like Torpey, Hignett and Sagi Burton. It hasn't worked so will concentrate more on the players stats in the upcoming end of season.

Saying that, I'm not safe from relegation yet. Just go beat by the bottom club too

True, you'd have to be able to scout outside of the EU for this to be useful, and any player you could attract now would hopefully not be good enough for you in 3 years time once they've got dual nationality.
They'll be useful when you get to the top flights, but no point whilst in the Blue Square Premier.

I almost had promotion last season so why this? (http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/3865/seasonticketsab7.jpg)

Unless someone has died, surely I'd have sold at least the same amount of tickets as last season, if not more, after a good season?

Only here for 3 months but I'll be trying to extend that loan, he's incredible. My only defeat to Ebbsfleet was a crock of crap. I destroyed them tbh, should've been 2-0 up but Hutchinson and Ephraim missed chances, they scored 4 goals from outside the area and my 'keeper scored an own goal. Recovered well though and am sitting 3rd going into September. Need to keep it up as there's a possible takeover on the horizon.

End Of Season Review

The profilee (http://i23.tinypic.com/315db8n.jpg)

The info (http://i24.tinypic.com/xm1vn5.jpg)

Team: Stamford
League: Conference North
Year: 08/09
Prediction: 22nd
Position: 3rd, Promotion Via Playoffs

Season Records (http://i24.tinypic.com/14bhw0.jpg)

The Table (http://i20.tinypic.com/1zbcx35.jpg)

The Graph (http://i20.tinypic.com/2sbldop.jpg)

The Season

What a season! I must start by thanking Peterborough who sent me all their reserves on loan (and half their youth team) and in doing so playing a major part in my promotion to the Conference National.

The season itself was an interesting affair with the team collecting a huge total which should have been enough to catch the top teams. Most of the results followed a familiar pattern: win at home, draw away and loose against the top 6 teams. At one point I was 3 points off the top however Burton were far, far too strong for any of us to compete with. Once the 6 horse race had been established it was a case of securing the playoff place, and despite some late season dip in form we made it through. My best run was a run of 12 games unbeaten in mid season cementing my team in the playoff places.

The playoffs were an interesting affair and were extremely strange games. The first game against Tamworth at home was a tightly contested affair, which only really opened up with the dismissal of one of their players in the 29th minute. From here I looked to push onward and in doing so scored a vital goal through Howe. From there we did our best impression of England and sat right back holding the lead only for my centerback to dawdle on the ball in the 90th minute allowing their player to pounce and leather it into the net from 6 yards out.

Playoff leg 1 (http://i23.tinypic.com/2ldx6yt.jpg)

And so that set up a match which was poised to go either way not really sure on the best policy I chose to attack taking an early lead through my striker. However my players let their foot off the gas and Tamworth hit back straight away through a good move. My striker who I fired up pre game went on to smash home the third goal of the game and ultimately the winner as I sat back and held on. The action didn't stop there though as two Tamworth players lost their discipline and set about breaking my players legs both ending up with red cards.

Playoff Leg Two (http://i23.tinypic.com/24l616t.jpg)

So along came the final and at huge odds against the Dutch Air Force (De Zeeuw) lead the club out (slowly) into the playoff final and his last game of his playing career. This also was a tightly contested affair which again could have gone either way. Both sides created plenty of chances in an open game and it was Nuneaton who struck first. Thankfully my players responded and hit back fast. From there it was close and it seems the gods were helping me out as they had a player sent off in the 87th minute. So in we went to extra time and despite peppering their goal from all angles, the ball would not go in.

And so it came to the time for players to keep their heads. A penalty shootout. Thankfully my players kept their heads and came out victorious to the delight of De Zeeuw who ended his career on a high note and went down in Stamford folklore!

The final (p) (http://i20.tinypic.com/72eexu.jpg)

The Squad

- A high proportion of players were loans from peterborough including top goalscorer Howe and team mainstays Crook, Day and Blanchett.

- The rest were gathered by searching the country for released talent and offering out trials to anyone who would come. Several were FREDs without a club including Savage, Hindmarch, Mallon, Semple, Sproule, Rennie and the undoubted star Donaghy. Savage has attracted the attention of league one club (and parent club) Peterborough so I may have a fight on my hands keeping hold of him.

-Honorable mention to Parish and De Zeeuw whos defensive solidarity carried me across the finish line.

- In total I signed 27 players however I released 5 over the course of the season and several more have contracts which are expiring

- Looking forward I need to strengthen in every position and looking forward to July 1st so I can improve the team.

Chippenham get an assistant... (http://www.a3share.com/members/1984/assist.jpg)

I couldn't beleive my luck with this one. When Joe responded to my advert, i could hardly contain myself.
He gets a step up from youth coach, and i get an assistant i can see being good enough all the way to the premiership.

In other news, an ex Premiership star has arrived! With a few third places under his belt at Forest, Nigel Clough (http://www.a3share.com/members/1984/oldgold.jpg) may just be an inspired signing...

As long as you glance past his age and physical stats.

Kept up our fantastic form, 12 league games, 10 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif.

Also beat Brentwood 3-1 in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round, got the 3rd round of the quals coming up against Havant & Waterlooville.

We're going by the philosophy that if they score, we must score more! Got a rate of scoring 2.6 goals/game and conceding 1.2 goals/game, barely any clean sheets so far. There are also lots of high scoring 4-3s we've been involved in, two of those wins for us, including a win over at-the-time leaders Dorchester.

Is the Setanta Shield a new cup/trophy for this season? Or has it previously been under a different name?

After last years moderate success (championship mid-table before rl got in the way) with Bath City, I'm looking forward to a brand new year.
Literally just installed the game and am holidaying now.
I only got chance to play about 10 games on the demo so I'm throwing myself in at the deep end. Yipes.

Has being overbudget so much affected your board's confidence yet?

I'm not far into the season yet, but I'm already hearing rumblings of disatisfaction. I'm worried that I'll be sacked for bad budget management, regardless of how well the team is performing. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Things moving along nicely http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif. The goals are being shared around a little more and the Bronly result wasn't a fair reflection on the game. We were however lucky not to lose to non-league Didcot in the Cup.

Thought I would just post a message to say about my pre season !! Having League 1 side Southend offer me a friendly, I thought that it would be a good matche to see how good some of my new players were. Having started with no players, and having to bring all in myself, only losing 4-0 wasnt a bad result and boded well for the future I thought. After another couple of mediocren results against teams much lower down the pyramid than myself, things werent looking to good.

Coming into the new season, my first match was another recently promoted team, in Mertyhr Tydfil.I wont bore you no more, got a creditable draw so its a start.

Just about to play my first home game of the season and I'm greeted with this message.Season Tickets (http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u279/sergent21/seasontickets.jpg) Its a bit of a kick in the numpties, but hey, thats the challenge I guess..

Lets hope that we can get fans here and get them to keep coming, but with my side I have assembled I cant see that happening in any sort of time, but times will tell..

This is for Jimbo as well.

*** Rant Alert***

What is it with my board? At the start of the season they expect us to "enjoy life in the Blue Square Premier" and achieve a respectiable postion. They give me a budget of £2,389pw and the media predict me to finish 19th. I have no players, no staff - it is all me.

So I am now in early November and am sitting 4th in the league. (http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n130/kstoyle/League.jpg). You would think they would be happy with that. But no. They then tell me I should be performing slightly better. (http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n130/kstoyle/Board.jpg) Wtf?? They should be delighted.

I am 4th for ffs, well away from the relegation zone so I fail to see what else they could want from me. I am in my office every day working with the players, training them, motivating them, scouting players all for £220pw and they are telling me to do "slightly better". What effin clowns. I would like to see Sir Alex Fergusson or Jose Mouorinho do better.

Their main gripe seems to be Steve Torpey. I agree he is a useless bag of dung but the board wont let me pay him off and no-one else wants him. They also conveniently forget to mention my ****-hot midfield three of Crowell, Igoe and Disley who have scored 20 goals this season and a tearing up teams in this league. What am I to do?

Anyway if they are still unhappy at the end of the season I will be off. They can manage their team themselves and see if they can do any better, the ungrateful little *****.

Mid-Season Update thing

Season has had its ups and downs so far, rarely found any consistency with my results, and have had problems with getting wins, but of late I've been getting some good results, including a 5-2 win over Lewes and a 1-0 win over Newport.

Was hoping some of my new signings would help me pick up some results, most hopeful of Marcus Stewart but hes let me down a bit. But i did sign Danny Racchi (http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/11/dannyracchieh1.jpg) who has been giving some good performances.

Season 09/10 - Chippenham Town - Blue Square Premier

A much tougher season meant that I only managed to stave off relegation last game of the season. Having not managed to attract the loan players back for a second season it was ironic that this squad was far weaker than the one that had strolled through the southern division.

In particular my strikers had a nightmare, with Delroy Facey scoring 8 goals in 40 appearances despite being billed as one of my star men.

With most of the suad out of contract in the summer there is no doubt that there will be a number of changes across the whole picth. Unfortunately that low reputation is hampering who I can get in - who suggested we start with team of reputations lower than 900! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Made some decent transfers (http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p251/joshisapoolie/Tranfers.jpg) which I hope can help me stay in the league in my first season. Mid table would be nice.

While I'm here, my first two games were pretty uneventful, a 1-0 home loss to Hitchin and a 1-1 draw away from home and then in my third game this (http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p251/joshisapoolie/Amazinghalftimescore.jpg) happened! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

HUGE mistake. I've got a riot on my hands now http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif!

I'm really struggling now, going from 8th down to 12th in the Blue Square South in my second season by losing most of my last few games when I could have had a playoff place. The board haven't yet offered me a new contract and mine ends in just over a month now. Not looking good http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Hitting a poor spell of play atm, not performing as well as we have done.

Luckily in these two games so far since then we've not lost, though I'm expecting one soon.

Having just said that it doesn't look like I'm going to get a contract renewal, I now REALLY hope I do because I've just recieved an incredible transfer offer for my young star striker that my board has accepted on my behalf. I thought this guy seemed really good when I signed him, but didn't think I'd be getting an offer like this after only 1 season of owning him.

Is this a transfer offer record for the conference south? £310k up front, that's extreme financial security if the deal goes through - assuming I actually get a new contract that is.

My bad it's a negotiation up to £250k over 12 months + 50% of next transfer fee, not £310k up front like I just said. I been reading through forums and had forgot I had negotiated this when the bid came in http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

And I just got the % of the next transfer fee wrong in that post, I'm just going to give up trying to explain the transfer I negotiated because it's pretty obvious I'm not capable of doing so, hehe.

AFC Hornchurch - Blue Square South - End Of Second Season (2009/10)
Total relief for me now that I eventually got offered a new contract (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/newcontract.jpg), when the end of March passed and there was no sign of one and the board refused to consider offering me a new deal when I requested it, I was expecting the worst. I'm so glad that the contract got extended though as I'm really starting to enjoy this game now - even though my second season was worse than the first.

I made what I considered to be some excellent transfers (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/transfers0910.jpg) this season, our performances seemed to drop considerably for a squad (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/squad0910.jpg) of our standard and we never really got going. We eventually finished 12th (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/league0910.jpg) after some terrible form (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/graph0910.jpg) towards the end of the season. The board and fans (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/confidence0910.jpg) seem to be pretty happy though, despite finishing 2 places lower than in last seasons campaign.

A major positive for next season is that for the first time in my time in charge, we will actually have some money to play with. I have kept under my overall wage budget (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/overview0910.jpg) in both seasons, and not spent a penny in the transfer market yet, which has seen my balance increase to safely over £100,000 now. This will be greatly increase next season as the huge transfer deal of Mickey Stewart (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/transferdeal.jpg) will bring in £250,000 guaranteed over the next 12 months, and then potentially more if they sell the player on. Having found him as a 17 year old on a free and seeing him play so well, I wanted to keep him so negotiated Oldham up from their £50k offer, hoping they would pull out, however they agreed the deal was worth while and the board accepted it over my head. I am also starting to get interest from Northwich for Anthony Parker (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/anthonyparker0910.jpg) who was my other very good signing from last summer. I am going down a similar route of trying to negotiate a transfer to over £250,000 so that I either get alot of money or get to keep him for another season, so far, Northwich have refused to meet my demands saying the deal isn't value for money. The player isn't unhappy yet though so this is fine with me - as he has been my best performer this year with an average rating of 7.11

Hopefully with a bit of extra money for the summer, we might actually manage to challenge for the playoffs next season - but I thought we had enough to do that this time around so I'm not counting my chickens yet, though I do fancy our chances.

Can you scout N.Ireland or did you trial him or something else. I'm not checking up on you, I'm just not able to sign anyone at the moment. I think the smaller database is kicking me right in the nuts. Players that signed for my Chippenham with large database side won't even look at me now.

This sounds like something I had, like here in my great Screenshot (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/7466/0809fansfrustrationyc4.png) , I won the league in 07 last year why are they talking bout me having bad seasons? and this was also after my 2nd loss in 7 games to make it worse, and I had just dropped off top of the table.

Current league position 5th.

Talismanic skipper and goal-scorer Graz was injured against Basingstoke and you can see the after affects of me changing my captain. Our exit in the FA Cup was followed by a record league deffeat and it took some string words before the same team went out and took thier revenge upon Merthyr. I hope that's the end of the matter and I would strongly advise anyone who is thinking of changing their skipper mid-season to think again.

dlnwba86 - Halesowen Town - 2008/2009 BS Northern League

I can be pretty happy with my performance this season. After a mediocre first half of the season, a change to a more attacking 4-4-2 formation led to a vast improvement in results including a winning streak of 8 games. Unfortunately it was too late to make any kind of progress into the play-offs as those top 5 teams seemed to completely dominate everyone else.

League Table (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r237/dln424/Tble.jpg)

Positions Graph (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r237/dln424/graph.jpg)

By the end of the season i was very happy with my squad. With a little help from my parent club West Brom, i managed to get some quality players. I signed a couple of older players to add some strength at the back and also signed 6 young players from Anguilla who came on trial and hopefully they can play some first team games next season.

The Squad (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r237/dln424/squad-2.jpg)

I managed to do better in all competitions than my chairman hoped and confidence appears high. My finances suffered badly after signing so many players. It would have been a lot worse had it not been for the decent cup runs and associated prize money.

Confidence (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r237/dln424/confidence.jpg)

Finances (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r237/dln424/finances.jpg)

I have to save the best till last though. My loan signing Stuart Nicholson (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r237/dln424/nicholson.jpg) was probably the best signing i have ever made in any FM game EVER!! He scored virtually every game and i was so shocked when it wasn't him scoring. A trully unbelievable record of 44 goals in 42(4) games was simnply put, THE reason i finished in 7th.

Hopefully i can get at least some of these albion players back on loan next season when i would hope for a play-off berth at worst.

My training facilities are pretty poor, but I've got some decent coaches (between 3 and 6 stars in all areas) and I'm using my own training schedules from FM07.

Just started a game with Chippenham. I had started a game with Worksop but deleted it when I realised that their reputation was over 1000!

Manager Profile (http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa137/jsufc88/chipprof.jpg)

The board originally just wanted me to avoid relegation, but I told them that I thought I could achieve a top-half finish, so they upped my wage budget from £2k to £2.6k (woop). No transfer budget though. I'm expected to win Blue Square South by the end of the board's 4-year plan...so here goes!

Merthyr Tydfil - Season 08/09 - Blue Square South

After a shocking start to the season losing 6 out of 7 games, we recovered well and finished in 11th (http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/948/10212007172953fg2.jpg) place.

We were predicted to come 15th so I'm very pleased with that. It's mainly down to Kaid Mohamed, Danny Hylton, Derek Asamoah and Tom Clarke, who performed brilliantly throughout the seasons.

Roundup -

FA Cup - Fourth Qualifying Round.
Setanta Shield - Qualifying Round.
Blue Square South - 11th.
FA Trophy - First Round.

Players -

Top Goalscorer - Kaid Mohamed - 15
Top Assistee - Tom Clarke - 10
Most Yellow Cards - Justin Crochane - 20
Highest Avg. Rating - Kaid Mohamed - 7.24

Great Season, hope to improve on the position next season.

Star Man - Johnathan Pringle (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Halesowen/Season%201/JPringle.jpg)

Not the best season for me, after a strong start to the season, sitting just outside the playoff places, it sort of fell apart. Mass amounts of Injuries and Suspensions cost my team a lot of points, and I hit a bad spell of 5 losses in a row. The team was never relegation candidates, but they were never really play-off contenders.

Pre-Season the manager made a lot of team changes, throwing out a lot of dead wood, bringing in a healthy amount of promising young players, and enhancing the staffing situation in the club.

Manager Season Objective -

To consolidate Halesowen as a top half team. (Failed)

Next Season Objective -

Bring in a few more players to add depth to the squad.
Alter Tactics and Training for better performance
Finish in the Play-Off Places.

Loving the challenge, as always.

Requested a parent club (http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa137/jsufc88/link.jpg) and my board agreed. Few loans (http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa137/jsufc88/loans.jpg) set-up already. This could be a real help.

Matlock 07/08 Conf. North

After a very slow start to the season things are beginning to look to for my team.
Undefeated in the last 8 games, and Daryl Clare is beginning to show his "star" quality..

Currently 6th 2 pts shy of a playoff-spot..

Will do a mid-season update with screenies soon!

I sent my scouts out looking for new centre backs for me after leaking 60 goals last season, and I was amazed when I got this (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/lewischristonscoutreport.jpg) report back on Lewis Christon (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/profile-1.jpg).

Naturally as he was classed as twice the player of my other defenders (and his visible attributes looked good) I tried to sign him, and he agree and looks like he could be a hell of a player (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/signing.jpg) for me this season. Really happy with this guy, should put a bit of strength in my defence at last http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Good luck. I have a feeling you will need it.

It appears that success in the first season in the challenge is largely reliant on what feeder clubs you have and who they send you.

With Chippenham and Crewe and Bristol as my parent clubs, I was sent Cole Skuse & Franie Artus, (and a few more), and I would have won the league with ease largely because of the quality of these players.

With Boreham Wood, (Arsenal & Watford as parent clubs), I can't get anyone at all to come on loan and I have to make do largely with the freebies that nobody else wants.

This doesn't seem right. Championship squad players should not be willing to come to a Conference North/South team with an inexperienced manager.

I think this is a big and will not be making use of it.

He was signed while on trial, since he can't make any appearances while on trial I guess it will always look like that.

Really frustrating for my Tiverton team at the moment, only 1 league win in 5 - scoring a few, but leaking far too many.

It is November 4th now, and we currently lie 14th in the Blue Square Conference South. Lets hope this post turns my fortunes around.

Hopefully that worked out OK. I'm only in early October however.

I have also just had one of the most thrilling cup games I can remember in the game.

It wat the Banana Shield 1st round, away to Eastbourne Boro who are 3rd in the Conference South. I was going into the game with my first choice right back and a DMC who would have been rotated into the game suspended and one of my first choice strikers and backup injured.
Leaving me pretty short in bodies for defence and attack, i.e. none except U18 players.

We were doing OK in the game, but not scoring from the few chances the strikers got, when in the 81st minute my best DC got sent off.
I managed to jiggle my formation with yhe fullbacks playing as DCs and the wingers as wing backs and an AMC instead of my currently 4th choice striker.

Then my team started to dominate the game and got a few more chances at goal.
It ended up 0-0 and went to extra time. My last striker was strugging and his condition dropped to 60%, so I subbed him for my last fit (and crap) striker from the U18s.
In the 118th minute my AMC snatched hold of a miscontrolled ball from an Eastbourne DC and slotted home from the edge of the area.
He only joined from my parent club QPR 5 days before the tie!

Now I have to pick up the pieces with my striker force either injured or too tired for action and not enough bodies for defence.

End of season update Chelmsford City

A good season all in all with the team beating merthyr 2-1 in the playoff final to win promotion

heres what the bosrd expected expectations (http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee208/andy139s/1st%20season/expectations.jpg)

And lastly this is my profile at end of season still got 2 years left on contract and have already met board expectations end of season profile (http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee208/andy139s/1st%20season/endosseasonprofile.jpg)

Bought 24 players and let 4 go for £2000 in total transfers (http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee208/andy139s/1st%20season/transfers-1.jpg)

This gave a squad to play using a 442 formation with attacking fullbacks and wingers 1st team (http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee208/andy139s/1st%20season/1stteam.jpg)

As i said we won promotion league table (http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee208/andy139s/1st%20season/leaguetable.jpg)

And without this player i think we would have struggled so ihes my player of the season starplayer (http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee208/andy139s/1st%20season/starplayer.jpg)

Even though over spending on wages for whole season still made a nice profit finances (http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee208/andy139s/1st%20season/finances.jpg)

Now on to season 2 and i fear i we might struggle in blue square premier but if i can get a few good loanees from parent club then i might avoid coming straight back down

Tiverton Town in the Conference South - November update

Well, after a fantastic 1-0 win away at Havant & W, i feel in the mood to post a little more detail of my October and early November results. So, for anyone whos interested, here goes...

Eastleigh 0 - 3 Tiverton Town
A good result to start the month, fantastic football being played and finally a clean sheet.

Braintree 0 - 0 Tiverton Town (Setanta shield)
Despite Braintree going down to 9 men, and us having 20 shots to Braintree's 5, we needed penalties to grab the win and progress to the Second Round.

Ramsgate 1 - 2 Tiverton Town (FA Cup 3rd Qual)
Going away to lower league opposition can be a potential banana skin, but we played well, and progressed.

Tiverton Town 2 - 2 Bognor Regis
After trailing 2-1 at the interval, we pulled our socks up - but really should have won the game.

Lewes 2 - 2 Tiverton Town
This time we trailed 2-0 at half time, but a good second half performance and an 86th minute penalty rescued us a point.

Tiverton Town 1 - 2 Torquay United (FA Cup 4th Qual)
We took an early lead with a headed goal off a corner, but then gave away a silly penalty and went down 2-1 at half time - matters were made worse by a neck strain to striker Andy Caton.

Tiverton Town 2 - 4 Welling
Probably my most disappointing result of the season, Welling were below us in the league - and our defending was shocking. Striker Joe Mason (on loan from Plymouth) who had scored two in the match limped off with a calf strain.

Tiverton Town 1 - 1 Eastbourne Boro
Another poor result at home, as we went behind in the 5th minute. It took a 76th minute goal to draw us level, and despite 14 shots to their 8, we could not manage another goal.

Havant & W 0 - 1 Tiverton Town
Finally, a good result coming our way, as we went up against a tricky 4-2-4, we played a defensive 4-3-3 to great effect. Top scorer Broughton put us into the lead after 62 minutes, and we defended for our lives, to grab an essential three points.

Those results leave us in 12th in the league, on 22 points after 17 games. I really hope we can string some good results together, and find a way to turn around our home form.

(PS - if an update like this seems really unnecessary, please tell me and I wont do it again http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

Hopefully this (http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa137/jsufc88/boardtakeover.jpg) could be a turning point for me and allow me to have more money to spend.

Will post a squad list and a list of all the transfers I've made when I've finished wheeling and dealing!!

Hi all.

I thought i'd better get on with this challenge, since I have played in the previous challenges and again I've chosen Billericay Town as my team.

Here's my profile (http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e144/santajtd/FM2008/dafuges%20challenge/Billericay%20Town/08-09/manager_profile_june_19_2008.jpg).
If any one is interested i chose danish as my nationality (as i'm danish in real life) so why I have knowledge of Brazil I have no idea, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Faroe Islands I can understand but Brazil I can't http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll post an update with pictures once the season has started.

And good luck to all. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

The first bit is salary budgets compared to salary actual.

The second bit is pre-season expectations compared to current league position.

Hendon - Conference South - End of Season Update 2009/10

After some dissapointing results in our friendlies, I was worried at the start of the season. I needn't have been though as we continued our form from last season, and spent almost all season in a playoff place. Final league position of 2nd.

Unfortunately the playoff semis pitted Hendon against Weymouth, and Weymouth won 2-1 on aggregate. We still in 4 meetings havent beaten them, so it wasnt entirely surprising.

With regards transfers, I managed to renew 3 of my loans from the previous season, so had a borrowed GK and AML from my parent club as well as a Striker from QPR Reserves. The striker I had borrowed managed 34 goals in 50 appearances. Hope he renews again.

Really struggling with finances so may have to weaken my squad a bit to be able to make my board happier with my wage bill. Never have been good with finances, but dont want to risk my job over them.

seanefc This is a bug included by SI that only happens with illegal copies of the game. There is another way for this to happen, but that involves continuing with a demo save, but that obviously isn't the case here.

Thanks.

I don't know how it looks at the other promoted clubs but I have a bit of a shortage on playes and staff and....well people.
I have 8 playes in my squad; 6 who are 16 years old and 2 who are 15 years old.
I have no (that's not even a single one) staff, it's just me and my chairman. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
I have no transfer budget.
Fortunately my wage budget is at £5105 per week and i'm only using £440 of that.
My overall budget is + £40372.

So i'm off to find coaches, an assman, physios and at least some players (here's hoping for a good parent club).

Season expectations is to achieve a mid-table finish.

And my chairman is willing to sell the club for any offer.

It's true, the Mangotsfield game uploaded to the website looks like it has been created by an illegal version of the game. Can I suggest that anyone else using it deletes it and starts a new game.

I've requested that it be removed from the website.

I have now signed up a new squad. They are fair to average, but with a small wage budget and aleady being sacked from Worksop before I didn't want to spend too much.

Of the players I have signed the ones below are my best

Neil Cox (http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q244/kccircle/NeilCox.jpg)
Jonny Harkness (http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q244/kccircle/JonnyHarkness.jpg)

And for those of you who read 442 - and in particular the section ' this boys a bit special'
This Boys A Bit Special (http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q244/kccircle/NathanWolfe.jpg)

Your knowledge of brazil comes from being danish.
Some counties in europe this year have odd knowledge of brazil or cameroon, don't know why since they have no connection http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

My profile has N.Irish and Irish and one of them gives me knowledge of......... France http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif.

The conference is hard: I lost 1-0 with 8 men http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Staying up is going to be *hard*

Halesowen Town - Pre-season update

I'm finding it tough to sign any quality players in my second season in the north division. I originally tried to sign Nicholson again on loan but he said no chance. I was getting desperate so i just tried again, not long before the first game of the season, and guess what, he said yes!! I have my 44 goal a season man back on board and suddenly i'm more optimistic about the season ahead.

wow!

Im just feeling really bad!

Been having great fun with tiverton save, but I guess its gotta go, since its corrupted.

Im contemplating waiting for the patch to start now...although, what am i going to do with my life then :-)

from what i have seen though, most issues in the game arent database related, but engine related (along with some minor issues), so i hope a game thats startet now and then patched will work out fine...What is you guys impressions from last year= is it worth it waiting for the patch, or will I most likely be okay?

IS there a bug with regens? I have seen several from monserrat!

I've signed a few, often they have English as a second nationality. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

On Fm07 they were often very good one's (world class even), along with bermuda and several other small caribean nations they appeared about end of sep every year.
I only noticed this on a large database game, it didn't seem to happen on a medium database when doing last years dafuge challenge.

My third season is going absolutely terribly. I have built my squad up to a state that I thought could challenge for playoffs and I find myself still in 18th (http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff262/paulsgruff_fm/scarytable.jpg) on January 1st 2011.

Looks like I'm going to be stuck in the Blue Square South for yet another season - if I survive this one that is http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Just gonna find out when the last time i saved was but i fear the worst. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Good luck http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif, not many of us out there managing Billericay from what I can see.

</div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Was in a similar position at the start, except I only had 4 youth players.

Managed to build up a very good squad and staff, but it's hurting my wage budget, which is why I'm losing money http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

Chairman still interesting in potentially selling the club, could be good for money but not if he wants a new manager.
