Yep, Babel is still there. Turns out they rested Torres and Adebayor, who only came on as a sub. Lucas and Sissoko are the midfielders..lol. Gerrard and Alonso both on transfer list but both have long term deals still at 35/34.

promoted!! finished a creditable 3rd in the league, well behin the top two, and coasted through the play-off semi's 5-2 before a nail-biting 3-2 win over forest green in the finals and promotion!! a lot of my players are quite highly rated by my ass man, so, hopefully, i wont have to do much tinkering in the preseason, and will be able to keep the core of the team together. also, with abit of luck, ill be able to re-sign the two loan players from my parent club, as they were btoh immense for me this season.. onwards and upwards again!!

Notes
A good season’s start avoided relegation for us, but getting a lick of the cream (i.e. being at the top) made me want more, and that isn’t what the side delivered as the season wore on. Poor performances in the cups and the general squandering of any chance of a good season leave me worried for next year. I’ll need to seriously tighten up the defence, perhaps blooding a youngster or two in, and get a great player for the number 1 jersey – if not, I can state with almost absolute certainty that we will be relegated.

Okay, I've now got over the trauma of losing my fantastic Chelmsford save just after we'd stormed to the title first season more or less.

I'll be starting again on the 8.0.2 patch soon, probably with a different team. I might just plump for AFC Wimbledon so I can get on with it quickly, as time is really tight atm.

Wish me luck guys, I'll post a profile and the other info tomorrow when I've got going.

AFC Wimbledon 2015/16 Championship Season Review

After finishing 12th last season and the promise of more money and a larger scouting area, we were hopeful of pushing for a place in the playoffs and a shot at making the Premiership.

The season started slowly but at the halfway point, we'd moved into 7th and looked dangerous. The top 6 we're just too good though and we never moved from 7th.

Table (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/9681/tableln2.jpg)
Graph-longest ever flat line for non top/bottom of table? (http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/6382/graphek3.jpg)

A decent League Cup run and strong FA Cup run helped break up the season and improve the finances.

Manager Overview (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/4613/overviewbq9.jpg)

Two players were lost after chariman accepted bids over my head. Luckily so far I've hung onto a 3rd with an improved contract. With that we used the money to strengthen the squad where possible, however, the board changing its mind and reducing scouting area back to uk+ire made it difficult.

Transfers (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/4153/transfersbo1.jpg)

Squad (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/4899/squadei9.jpg)

Leading scorer, MOTM and Ave ratings:
Agard (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/9043/agarduc3.jpg)

A few of the players brought in who made a difference:

Connor (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/423/connorvr7.jpg) Right winger
Mares (http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/7877/mareslv6.jpg) Central Mid, also great corner taker.
North (http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/1195/northdc3.jpg) First choice keeper, good all round.

Off-field was much improved this year and with further player sales to come in the summer it should give us a good chance of improving facilities or finding new better players.
Finances (http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/9351/financesnr5.jpg) Still need to pay out the squad bonus which I had at high, thinking who cares how much we have to payout if we make the Premiership..lol

Have been approached for nearly every Championship and lower Premiership jobs. Board is very pleased at my loyalty.

Next season:

1. Improve defence to be strong enough not to need loans.
2. Find players currently better than we have available.
3. Get into the playoffs and win way into Premiership.
4. Trim overall squad, we've won Reserves again and it's pointless to me.

Well, I've lost him, which is bad enough but the reasoning is a little strange. Offered him a new contract but he wasn't happy with length (even though I offered the length he asked for) and he wasn't happy that the contract didn't include a "relegation release clause".
What did he do? Sign with a team in League One of course instead of staying in the Championship.

Not really, no. They're too good for reserves and not good enough for first team football. On top of that, the main strength in the reserves are the strikers and central midfielders.

Now, I'm off to find a replacement right winger.

Margate - BSP - New Years Update 09/10

Being tipped to struggle to avoid relegation I enterede the BSP with a squad almost completely without match experience. My 1st season in the BSS my champion team were made of loanees from Southampton, so a fresh start it was. Luckily many of the players loaned the previous season could be signed on a free as their contracts expired.

25 games in to the season and we are leading the BS Premier with the same points total as Oxford.

Hopefully we'll stay clear of major injuries to key players as my squad is thin....too thin!

after my Boreham Wood game got killed early (pounded my laptop after a playoff loss AET causing it to restart), I spent today trying to get them again in vain.

instead, I've chosen Chelmsford. we should have enough firepower at the front and the back (all Premier League castoffs) to see us through to the BSP, but that's what they all say.

End Of Season Update
Hednesford Town - Season 1 - 2008/09

Well, retaining last season's players turned out to be tricky...11 out over the season (all of them regular 1st teamers). It did however make me £300k in transfer fees, plus most are on 50% of next sale also. Again I stuck with the philosophy that whilst I'm at Conference level (& still Part-Time) I'll stick with the free transfers & the odd loan signing. So in came 12 free signings & 3 loaners.
The new players gelled really well & I'd only been hoping for a respectable top-half finish with a good cup run. As it turned out I managed to guide the team to 2nd in the league & the FA Trophy Final...which we won!!
The Play-offs beckoned & we were pitted against Forest Green (both previous meetings were score-draws), we won both legs 1-0. The final put us against Stockport to whom we had lost twice (1-0 & 2-0) during the season. We finally beat them 2-0 to gain promotion to the League of 2. Oh Yes.
As for the FA Trophy final...We were up against Hereford & what a match...they equalised in injury time to take it to extra time...but we ended up winning on penalties.
Wade Fairhurst was once again the fans player of the season & broke through the 30-goal a season barrier netting 31 times. Will he be able to cope with League football, I hope so!!

Star Man (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c143/scottsd69/FM/StarMan0910.jpg)

Highlights
Winners of the FA Trophy!
Promotion again, although it took the play-offs to achieve it!
Wade Fairhurst...again... - my super striker
15 matches unbeaten - 3.10.09-12.12.09
Finances have gone well again due to increasing attendances, & a 3rd round FA Cup Tie at West Ham helped to the tune of around £500k as well!!

Lowlights
Installing the 8.0.2 patch with about 10 games of the season to go may have cost me the title. There was noticeably more goals in the games post-patch & the attribute dip can't have helped matters.

Aims for next year
Professional status (I've already signed most of my 1st teamers & backroom staff to full time contracts, we're in the football league as well now....so hopefully the board will announce soon.
In terms of league position I will again be aiming for mid-table, but maybe I'll set my sights higher than this time & actually set out with the belief that play-offs are a real possibility. Guess we'll just have to see.

Sorry for posting multiple seasons, I'll try to do it more often in the future

Indy216957 - Halesowen Town - 2011/2012

So the first season in League football. It was nice to become a professional club. That made signing players a lot easier. The season started slow, but a couple big signings in Ciaran Clark on a free and Stephen Connor on loan made the season a lot easier. Eventually we were able to get all the way to third which worked on the last day, and secured automatic promotion.

Halesowen Town - 2012/2013

Since promotion to League one was unexpected I expected a real struggle. It definitely started that way, but as my players began to gel, we finally were able to get out of the bottom and finish reasonably well in 14th. The loan signing of Gael Kukata made a huge difference, but I was really disappointed with my big money signing of Ross Gaynor. He only scored 1 league goal all year.

Halesowen Town - 2013/2014

The second year in League one. This year I really needed a keeper, and was able to sign young Mark Anderson. My coach report rates him as a Good Premier Division keeper. He played well for the most part, but he is definitely one for the future, hopefully I keep him on for a while. The season started slow again, but an impressive second half of the season helped us get into the last playoff spot. Unfortunately we got killed by Luton 3-0 at home and never had a chance in the second leg. Hopefully next season we can build on the playoffs though, and maybe push for an automatic promotion spot.

Chrishunt1212 - Mangotsfield 2009/10 mid season update

Having reached the midway point of the season we were doing brilliantly in the league currently sitting in 2nd place just 1 point behind the leaders, Rochdale, who had just beat us to take the top spot, with us being at the top most of the season so far.

mid season league table (http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/3884/midseasonleaguetableml7.jpg)

results so far (http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/5404/midseasonresultssofarjr0.jpg)

We are also still in the FA cup despite some tricky games. The 4th qualifying round was a tie against Blue Square Premier rivals Crawley, who we beat 3-2 in the replay following a 1-1 draw.

The 1st round proper saw us drawn against an Accrington Stanley side struggling in League 2, and again the tie went to a replay which we won 3-0 on penalties after another 1-1 draw.

Accrington replay overview (http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/2724/accringtonreplayovervieei5.jpg)

We then got a pretty daunting draw in the 2nd round, a game against a high-flying Luton side who sat 8th in League 1. The plus side was we were drawn at home, and an added bonus was the game had been picked for TV coverage. I was pleased we would at least earn some decent money from the game, before we crashed out to much better opposition.

Against all odds though, and despite me making a huge blunder by inadvertently picking my reserve team goalkeeper Craig Turner as a left winger instead of Nathan Luscombe, we pulled off a shock 1-0 win in front of a near capacity crowd of 2420. We were helped by Luton defender Denis Souza being sent off in the 85th minute for a professional foul for hauling down Rhys Henry who was clean through on goal. Luton’s Alan Goodall also followed him down the tunnel when his protests to the referee earned him his 2nd yellow card of the game.

cup win player stats (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/1317/fantasticcupwinplayerstxm3.jpg)

We have just been drawn at home against Charlton, who are in 13th place in the Championship at the moment, so it wasn’t the best draw, as I would have liked us to get drawn against a Premiership side, but, the match may get picked for TV coverage because of the very slim chance of a giant killing.

AFC Wimbledon Update:

In my third Championship season, after finishing 12th my first season and 7th last season.

Promised the board promotion or at least in my eyes, playoffs and well, it hasn't exactly been smooth sailing.

I think the best way to illustrate it is with this graph.

Graph (http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/751/graphhycu5.jpg)

Suffice to say, job security isn't at it's best right now. Another few losses and it might well be game over.

I've tried the contact form on the website but to no avial. I will now email him with his email shown in his profile on here. Enough about the website though, I am sure it will be sorted. Thankyou for trying to help http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So anyway, just about to start my pre-season with Merthry Tydfil. Managed to build up a semi decent backroom staff, just wish the same could be said about my squad! This team is full of Fred faces and I have to say is probably the ugliest team in FM history! Do we win a prize? It might be my only chance of silverware this season! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

canvey!! – Mangotsfield United – 2010/11 – Blue Square South

Pre-Season Review

A woeful pre-season left us with the equivalent of 4 points – 8 dropped at teams I really expected to beat. Added to that, Chairman Paul Payne still doesn’t see any point in a parent club. He’s willing to listen to offers and I hope he sells, despite the effect that may have on my position.

Mangotsfield 3 – 1 Guiseley
Having a small handful of new signings, including Cardiff’s reserve keeper, I was optimistic for the clash with Blue Square North Guiseley. Paul Simpson (brought through my youth system) scored a brace before Guiseley could get a goal in, and Lenell John-Lewis restored the lead in the final minute of stoppage time.
MOM: Paul Simpson (9)

Mangotsfield 2-0 Waltham Forest
I wasn’t happy with my tactic, so I simplified it to an attacking 4-4-2. Sam Foley put us ahead 7 minutes in, but at half-time we still held onto that slender lead. Brian Ryan scored a 25-yard free kick on the hour to secure us the win against a grey team, feeder club Waltham Forest.
MOM: Brian Ryan (8)

Mangotsfield 2-1 Witton Albion
Witton Albion had just been promoted to the Blue Square North. Although they took the lead in the 7th minute, a brace from Brian Ryan in two minutes put us 2-1 going into the break. They seemed to stand no chance after getting a man sent off on the hour, and indeed they never recovered, and we won 2-1.
MOM: Brian Ryan (8)

Mangotsfield 2-1 Gloucester
Versus rivals and grey-team Gloucester, Rhys Henry scored both sides of the break to secure the win.
MOM: Rhys Henry (8)

Mangotsfield 2-1 Forest Green
Playing Blue Square Premier Forest Green, based on previous results, I was secretly optimistic. Despite going down in the 52nd minute, I urged for a late comeback, and loanee defender Kieran Brennan converted a penalty to give us the equaliser ten minutes from time. Five minutes later, Lenell John-Lewis slotted home to give us an unlikely win.
MOM: Kieran Brennan (8)

Mangotsfield 2-2 Chester
If we beat Chester, recently relegated from League 2, we would have had a preseason without a single loss. In the end, we drew, thanks to a stunner from Lenell John-Lewis, who scored one and set up Brian Ryan for the other. Yet Spencer Weir-Daley was in top form for the visitors and scored both of their equalisers.
MOM: Spencer Weir-Daley (Chester) (8)

I was confident we could avoid relegation, and this unbeaten preseason has confirmed this. If we do well we may even push for a playoff place. I think the keystone of this good form is my change of tactic, and we’ll say how it holds up as the season wears on.

Ignore this bit - that's from an old preseason, forgot to remove it.

Marine 2013/14 - League One

To survive in our first season in League One reinforcments would be needed - two youngsters were picked up on free's from Arsenal Ryan Flood and Chris Dawes, my scouts also went to the U20 World Cup where they raved about a young Czech Striker Tomas Spevak (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/1052/spevakvn0.jpg) who was signed for a club record £100K, I also brought in a couple of Hungarian youngsters on free's, and with my new French physio bringing knowledge of half of central Europe with him I snapped up some hopefully promising Spanish and San Marino youngsters among others.

I also managed a coup by signing ex-Arsenal Championship rated Dutch right winger/striker Vincent van den Berg on a free after Swansea let him go.

It turned out to be a rather uneventful season in League One, in the end we finished 15th (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/5457/tablefb4.jpg), no where near relagation or the playoffs (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/7311/posus1.jpg), we did start declining halfway through the season, with most of my squad not good enough for League One - Top Scorer Ameobi left in Jan for Exeter for £45K as did a couple of more squad players.

Changing my formation to 4-4-1-1 (AM with forward arrow), helped us out a bit, but with 5 games to go we were going nowhere and I decided to field some youngsters.

Squad (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/9281/squadop8.jpg) - Keeper Woods, left winger Harris, and strikers Naylor and Spevak impressed, Spevak had a good start to his Marine career dispite not being able to speak English.

Season Best XI (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/9927/bestxiseasonjy2.jpg) - not sure how Flood got in there.

Overall Best XI (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/5407/besxioverallgu6.jpg) - LB Rhodes bizarley enters even though he wasn't at the club, dropping out the better rated Mtandari? The only other change is James Harris making the bench.

Club Infomation (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/4898/clubinfolw1.jpg) - Board expanded the stadium (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/8214/expansiontr8.jpg) this season, and we spent the first half playing at the 13,000 Capacity Halton Staduim (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=16578120872455624661,53.365268,-2.738500&saddr=Lower+House+La,+Widnes,+Cheshire,+WA8+7DZ+(H alton+Stadium)&daddr=College+Road,+L23+3AS&sll=53.506413,-2.881233&sspn=0.32057,0.917358&ie=UTF8&ll=53.425365,-2.88533&spn=0.321181,0.917358&t=p&z=11) in Widnes (20 miles away home of the Widnes Vikings Rugby League side and Everton Reserves) - a lot better looking stadium (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9d/Halton_Stadium.jpeg) than my current home.

Confidence (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/4013/confidencejq9.jpg) - Fans not happy with my signings, well what do they expect when we struggle to attract players, they then moan about loanees who aren't costing us a penny and write off youngsters in their first few games for the club.

Snapshot (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/2822/snapshotvv6.jpg) - Carling cup went well again, drawn away to yet another ex-Premiership team Sheffield Utd this time, who hammered us 4-0, the Paint Trophy saw us start in the Second round for some reason (the bottom 16 teams get a bye - must be done on reputation). We beat Port Vale on pens, but then lost to Bradford on pens.

The FA Cup saw us drawn against Southport in the First Round, where we won 2-0, thanks to my 15 year old Spanish Left Winger Mendez scoring an open goal from 70 yards (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/8098/70yardgoallx3.jpg) (Since when could under 16's play in the FA Cup on FM?). The Second round saw us drawn against Nottm Forest who we beat 2-1 in a replay after a 0-0 home draw. The Third round saw us entertain Leicester, who stuffed us 3-0.

Manager Profile (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/3898/profileqb2.jpg) and Manager Info (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/1197/managerinfohq4.jpg) - I've earned a mighty £90K so far in my Marine Career http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Hi guys, im in my 2nd season in the championship but still can only scout U.k. - is this correct? can i request to scout europe?

canvey!!

No you can't request - you'll just have to wait until they allow you to scout Europe. Keep in mind you can offer trials to those players you can't scout, and just keep waiting for your board to change the limits.

Aario - Halesowen Town - End of Season 6 (2013-14) Review - League 2

Hi all, not been playing or on here for some time - just finished my 6th season. As the table (http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh106/Aario/tabseason6end.jpg) and graph (http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh106/Aario/graphseason6end.jpg) show we were strong all season but ended up with nothing finishing 4th and then loosing the playoff semi http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Had to play Barnet in the final game of the season when we were both 2 of 5 teams which could make the playoffs. Our comprehensive win (http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh106/Aario/season6lastgame.jpg) made sure of our playoff position and should have been great for confidence as despite the loss Barnet still finished 7th so we would face then in the playoffs. Despite playing well we just missed far too many chances in both games to miss out:

First game away (http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh106/Aario/season6semi1.jpg)

Secibd game at home (http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh106/Aario/season6semi2.jpg)

There was not really much else to report - nothing special in the cups - although our reserves did do rather well and hopefully a few of the youngsters in there will push on into the 1st team next season. Check out the goals scored! (http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh106/Aario/restabseason6end.jpg)

Indy216957 - Halesowen Town - 2014/2015 - League One

This season was really the one that I wanted to get promoted in. After spending the previous two seasons in mid table and bottom of the playoffs, I felt that we were finally positioned to move up. The free transfer signings of Ashley Barnes and Eddie Nolan solidified the striker and centerback positions, and the free transfer of Maxime Chanot and the loan signing of Ian Williamson provided starting fullbacks. With Mark Anderson in goal my team was a force all season.

Throughout the year we continued to be at the top and in second. Ross Gaynor and Paris Simmons were a sensational strike pair all year providing 32 and 27 goals respectively.

My one disappointment is that my team failed once again to win a trophy. Yes we got promoted butwe still have not won anything. We have been to the final of both the Setanta Shield and the Johnstone Paint Trophy and lost both. Also, all of the seasons that we have been promoted have been either by the playoffs or an automatic spot, but never as champions. Hopefully we can change that soon.

Because of a couple of minor annoying bugs, I've decided to stop my Hitchin game.
I've restarted using the 8.0.2 patch and I've ended up at Tiverton Town.
Profile (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/tivvyprofile.jpg)
I have updated the website.

Since I started this game a little while ago I didn't want to post here until I've finished a full season.

Tiverton Town - BSS 08/09

League table (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/tivvy08-09.jpg) - won it by a clear 10 points, despite a little slump in form during the run in. I am disappointed that we only got 99 points. But getting 100 goals more then made up for it.
Needless to say the cups didn't go that well, but we did manage to get to the 1st round proper of the FA Cup and were beaten by Rushden 3-2 at home.

Squad (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/tivvysquad08-09.jpg) - I had a real problem getting in enough decent defenders, so I had to resort to a number of loans. I am very happy that I had 5 players get into double figures, with 1 player getting 20 goals and another 30.
I am shocked that everyone's favourite Bulgarian player coach did so well whenever I had to call on him. He's now hung up his boots and is staying on the staff even though I could easily find a better coach.

Transfers 1 (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/tivvytransfers108-09.jpg)
Transfers 2 (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/tivvytransfers208-09.jpg)
Luckily the screen doesn't show trial players. At one point in pre-season I think I had over 20 triallists.
All of the Irish players did come on trial, including the player signed for £5k

Drewe Broughton (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/broughton08-09.jpg) - player of the season and a pretty good target man who also is quite good with the ball at his feet. If he was fastre he'd be unstoppable.
Tony Canning (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/tonycanning08-09.jpg) - has the potential to play in League 1 at the very least. When he joined on trial I was a little worried by his physical attributes. I regulary have to turn down enquiries for him, but he's on a long term deal and next season I might get him to sign a contract extension.
Alan Thompson (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/alanthompson08-09.jpg) - IMO the most important player. The team always played better when the ex-Bolton and Celtic legend was involved. I doubt he'll play much next season as his lack of pace could be a problem.
Roy McKendry (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/roymckendry08-08.jpg) - another good Irish triallist and first choice left winger.
Reuben Reid (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/reubenreid08-09.jpg) - top scorer and should have scored more except he went on a faily long barren run.
Asa Smith (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/asasmith08-09.jpg) - not played many games, but he could end up being Cannings long term midfield partner.

The good thing about being manager of Tivvy is that you start with good youth facilities and academy. So I started with a few players who could have a future at the club.
Michale Ward (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/michaelward08-09.jpg) - back up left winger. According to my coaches he's got a bigger potential then McKendry.
Zak Evans (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/zakevans08-09.jpg) - a right winger/striker. He's not a quick as I would like but he could potentiall improve that now that he's signed a full time contract.
Nick Edwards (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/nickedwards08-09.jpg) - not very quick for a full back, but again hopefully that can improve a little bit over time.

Home Screen (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/spankie_uk2002/tivvyhome08-09.jpg) - I stayed in the black and under the wage budget.

Chippenham – L2 – 2011-2012

Satus : pro
Estimated value : 2,1M€
Media prediction: 24th
Average age: 22

My club is now pro, and I was able to give full time contract to all my players and staff.
I said I expected a mid-table final position, and offered normal bonuses. To be honest, this season was quite easy, almost boring, except for a cup game against West-Ham that gave me a lot of money.
I’ve also translated my game from French to English, so that the screenies look better for everyone.

League cup : 1st round against Southampton (CH): 1-3 home
JPT : 2nd round against Brighton (L2): 1-3 home

Marine - League One 2014/15

The board again decided to expand Rossett Park (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/9359/expansionqw7.jpg), so we'd be spending most of this season at Knowlsey Road (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=15066215707727489694,53.451748,-2.763190&saddr=Dunriding+La,+St.+Helens,+Merseyside,+WA10+4 AD+(St+Helens+RLFC)&daddr=College+Road,+L23+3AS&mra=pe&mrcr=0&sll=53.432856,-2.877045&sspn=0.321126,0.726471&ie=UTF8&ll=53.451746,-2.764805&spn=0.002508,0.005676&t=h&z=18) - St. Helens Rugby League Ground, 15 miles away this time. (Or I may have been in their nice new stadium (http://www.sthelensstadium.com/), that's due to be opened in 2010)

With last seasons midtable finish in League One, new players would be needed to lift us up the table - especialy considering I sold most of my defence in the offseason (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7954/transferskf7.jpg) - Captain and centre-back Alexander Harris left for Shrewsbury for £50K, left back Kennedy went to Stockport for £85K, and my best defender Joe Dudgeon was poached for free by Motherwell, after he refused to sign a new contact - has anyone ever actually received compensation for a player you've lost? I always seem to have to pay compensation but the computer doesn't?

Midfielders Tutte and Elghanassy were both released on free's when they wanted way too much money to sign a new contract, in the winter window I sold off a few more squad players - strikers and midfielders who failed to impress and because I needed the money, even after all those sales the board were only giving me ~£200K to sign players.

Initial signings were several hopefully promising youngsters from lower league teams or on free's (as once a player becomes good I have no chance of signing them), and reinforced my defence with some loane's - Man Utd youngster John Pitt at CD, Andy Champion from WBA at Left Back (who was useless), and Callum O'Connor returned on loan from Blackburn, to play down the right, and would join us on a free at the end of the season (about the only player who lists Marine as his fav club, and actually wanted to sign for us - everyone else I've had on loan and tried to sign turned me down). I also signed Dutch left back Jan Eekman on a free from De Graafschap.

Attempts to sign more players on loan where hijacked by Bankrupt West Ham, who'd just been relagated to League One and proceed to try and loan everyone I wanted.

In the January window I pulled off a coup by signing Premiership rated DM Therry Racon from Watford for £8K (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/4098/raconku7.jpg), and Brazilian Midfielder Carlos Ramos for £85K (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6732/ramosnw9.jpg) (he'd been scouted and trialled last season, last season after being spotted at the U20 World Cup, but the club wanted too much money last season) to reinforce my midfield.

The season didn't get off to the best of starts right winger van den Berg injured (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6439/vanbenderginjuryiq3.jpg) his thigh in a friendly against Wolves and would miss the first few months of the season, on the pitch things weren't going too well - we only won 3 of our first 12 games, and two of them were with 10 men - Captain Tsankov scoring in the 90th minute against Wycombe (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/4/goodstartxt9.jpg), and a double from Naylor saw us fight back from a goal down against Plymouth after my Captain Tsankov had been sent off. (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6362/comebackdx8.jpg)

At the beginning of December we found ourselves in a relagation fight and out of all the cups - The Carling Cup saw us lose away to Championship Accringtion 2-0. The Paint Trophy saw us beat Bury on Pens, before losing to Barnsley 1-0 in the Second Round. The FA Cup 1st Round saw us travel to Blackpool who were flying high in League Two, we drew 2-2 in Blackpool and then went and lost the replay 2-1 at home.

With the team playing badly, a change was in order - I switched from 4-4-2 to a standard 4-3-3 - flat back 4, DM with two CM, two wingers and striker (that the game seems to call 4-1-4-1, which sounds rather negative) this saw us go on a run of 7 games with out defeat including 5 wins (which was more wins than we'd had in the previous 16 league games of the season), and a record 4 games without conceeding.

With the arrival of Ramos and Racon in Jan we stared flying up the table and were unbeaten in the last 12 games of the season (8 of them wins), these included a 4-1 hammering of West Ham (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/9900/westhamxi6.jpg), a 7-1 away win over Ipswich (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7789/ipswichbv0.jpg) (not a league record though - Ipswich and Norwich were involved in a 7-7 draw in 2013!), a 1-1 draw against Sheff Wed where 3 pens were missed by the two scorers (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/1444/pensyz9.jpg), that could prove costly.

In Easter things started falling apart Left Winger Harris who was on fire and had been made vice-captain to try and keep him at the club after he moaned about wanting to move to a bigger club, tore his calf muscle (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/8844/harrisinjurygm5.jpg) and would miss the rest of the season, my tired team then faulted away to Brentford throwing away a 2-0 lead in the last minutes. With two games left of the season we were somehow 7th in the League, only two points off a playoff spot - competition for the last 2 playoff spots came down to Swansea, Plymouth, Sheff Wed and Me - with Plymouth and me winning our second to last game and Swansea and Sheff Wed losing, we leapfrogged Swansea into 6th on goal difference, by two goals (+24 to +22)

In the final game of the season, we would need to match Swansea's result or win and hope that Plymouth didn't - we were home at Rossett Park for only the second time this season to already relagated Colchester, we didn't get off to the best of starts with Colchester taking the lead in the 15th minute, but on the stroke of half time, my Hungarian Midfielder Baranyai scored a beauty of a goal from 25 yards to make it 1-1, then in the 66th minute the linesman destroyed our season (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/5277/onsidero0.jpg), wrongly disallowing Naylors goal when he was clearly onside http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif silence from the FA not much comfort (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6766/fasilentxm6.jpg), and to make things worse in the 90th minute they broke my left back Eekman's leg, and he'll be out for 6 months. (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/5138/eekmaninjuryef6.jpg)

With Swansea winning, we missed out on the playoffs (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6104/finalgameyr0.jpg) and would be spending a third season in League One http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

On the plus side it was fun to see West Ham hammered 7-1 by Ipswich (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6531/poorwhuia5.jpg) http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Final League One Table (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/4575/tabledm1.jpg), and our positions through the season (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/1402/posrk6.jpg) to show just how awful and costly the start to the season was http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Squad (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/8336/squadfc4.jpg) - in the end 4-3-3 proved very effective - van ben Berg and Harris ripped teams apart down the wings, typical attacks would be either counter-attacking with my wingers or striker running with the ball and getting one-on-one with the keeper, wingers getting to the byline and putting the ball across the face of the goal for my striker to tap in, or the ball being pulled back to one of my late arriving midfielders to place the ball in the corner of the net. The main problem I had was that Naylor and Spevak are two different types of strikers - Naylor is fantastic at one-on-ones, where Spevak would always be in the right place to tap the ball home in the box, luckily I managed to rotate them through the season keeping them fresh, though with Duxbury the only one of my youngsters ready for first team football I could be in trouble if either of them get injured.

Best XI Season (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/5228/bestxiseasonmp7.jpg) - no arguments with that for a change.

Best XI Overall (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/2638/bestxioverallps1.jpg) - Left Back Eekman makes the team with just 33 appearances, Spevak makes it upfront and O'Connor makes the bench.

Club Infomation (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/3269/clubinfofj0.jpg) - Our stadium is quickly increasing in size, whilst according to the board our facilities are among the best in the league.

Manager Profile (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/1643/profileze5.jpg) - new fav formation, and bit more knowledge.

Snapshot Screen. (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/8224/snapshotti6.jpg)

It was also World Cup season, that saw pretty much every manager fired (http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/6374/firingsnm7.jpg), including the Argentina manager who'd just won the World Cup, which is rather harsh.

Its been a while since I've been online (been on vacation). Chippenham is still performing above expectations, but I fear my time is short as the finances really is in deep red. With the star players' values being crap (come on team rep!), I don't think a massive sellout will help.

With 27 games played, I'm 5th, but battling hard with 6 teams.

Finally decided to come back to my AFC Wimbledon game knowing that I'm still likely to get sacked soon.
Chairman has stepped in for the 5th time since the 8.02 patch, this time with striker Kounovsky.

Kounovsky Sale (http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/6343/kounovskygoneyd1.jpg)

Mixed feelings about this one.

He could've left on a Bosman at the end of the season and with Lorient sniffing around, I can't blame chairman for accepting now when they could've waited 2 weeks and got him free.

Problem is that he's scored 6 goals in last 5 matches, winning me 2 games single-handedly, which has probably kept me my job.

Current job status is "insecure" and with next three games against 8th, 7th and 6th, there's a very real chance that I won't last much longer.

Same day as previous transfer goes through and chairman is determined to wipe out my strikers with his 6th sale over my head.

Agard Bid (http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/548/agardbidtr2.jpg)

The player who would be taking Kounovsky's place in the side and with 18mths left on his contract.
He is unhappy at the moment and wanting to go to a bigger club, so he won't accept new contract but I've always been able to bring those players around so very disappointed.

I guess it's time to blood in the young striker Zima (http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/6025/zimawp8.jpg)

Have no idea how they got that kind of money, no big transfers out. They all bought my winger Ryan Hall in the summer for £2.4m albeit that most of that was a £90k/month for 24 months fee.

Also just realised that Kounovsky has a 25% sell on clause so I'm only going to get 75% of the fee for him.

Just started up my game, AFC Wimbledon in the BSS.

Weak team to start with but managed some absolute coups in the transfer market, mainly loans but i'll worry about that at the end of the season! Got Palace as my parent club and have taken Lewis Grabben (awesome in this league, my scout reckons that he would be a leading star for any championship club so dunno wat he's doing with me), Jamie Smith (decent AMC who gets a few goals), Hotchkiss (ex-leeds, wouldn't come to me on loan but wwhen they released him on a free he was happy to sign.

Also just signed Charlie Sheringham on loan as well as Dion Dublin on a 1 year deal! he's very slow but still better than any other defender i have!

Just beat Salisbury 6-2 at home (grabben hat-trick, get him if you can!) and sitting at the top of the league (albeit only 8 games in!)

Chrishunt1212 - Mangotsfield 2009/10 - End of Season Update

Unfortunately, we didn't beat Charlton in the FA Cup, we actually lost 2-0, which wasn't too bad, the annoying thing was we just didn't really play well and create any chances. We were just left to concentrate on the league and the FA Trophy.

The second half of the season was fairly uneventful, we had a spell of about 5 or 6 games when my 2 star strikers, Tristan Plummer and Zavon Hines were injured, and we either conceded late goals or just simply couldn't score and our slender 1 point lead soon turned into a 12 point gap and second place in the league looking over our shoulders at the chasing pack.

With the end of the season fast approaching, we had a FA Trophy semi final 1st leg match against York which ended in a 2-2 draw. The 2nd leg which was played at Bootham Crescent ended with a fantastic 1-0 win which sent us through the the final against Kidderminster.

]Through to the final!! (http://%5BB)

With 10 games to go, we were sitting in 2nd place 10 points behind leaders Rochdale, and automatic promotion looked out of our reach. But, a string of good performances by us, and a few poor performances by Rochdale meant that with just 2 games left, 1 of which against leaders Rochdale, we were just 1 point behind them.

The Rochdale game was quite tight, but we edged it with an early goal by Tristan Plummer, but it could have gone either way with both teams creating a couple of decent chances.

rochdale narrow win (http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/3378/rochdalenarrowwintb4.jpg)

With us now 2 points clear in 1st place, all we had to do was equal or better Rochdales result in the final game to book our place in League 2 next season. We had the slightly easier game against Torquay, who were in mid-table with nothing to play for, at home whereas Rochdale were away to a strong Stockport side who were aiming to cement their place in the playoffs.

We won our game 3-1, the score should have been a little better as Torquay were reduced to 10 men after about 20 minutes, but we didn't mind too much as Rochdale suffered a 3-2 defeat and left them missing out on automatic promotion, and with a tricky playoff tie with Stockport, the team they had just lost to.

won the league (http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/4611/wontheleaguexu9.jpg)

Rochdale overcame Stockport 3-2 on aggregate, and in the other tie York beat Exeter 4-2 on penalties after their tie ended 3-3 after the 2nd leg.

Rochdale hoped to beat York to gain promotion, which looked to had been theirs until a few games from the end of the season, but, unfortunately it wasn't to be as York beat them 2-0 in a surprisingly one-sided final.

league positions graph (http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/9509/finalleaguepositionsgrali2.jpg)

All that was left was for us to play Kidderminster in the FA Trophy final. We didn't have a brilliant record against them winning 1, drawing 1 and losing 1 game against them, but I knew that if we played well then we wouldn't have a problem.

After the opening 10 minutes we were 2-0 up, and I thought the game was going to turn into a rout, but Kidderminster fought back and levelled on the stroke of half time. But, the second half went to plan and after a rousing team talk my team stepped up a gear and outplayed them, Tristan Plummer completing his hat-trick and we ran out 5-2 winners.

Tristan Plummer was the undoubted player of the season scoring 51 times in 51 matches, although Zavon Hines got the fans player of the season award, I think because Plummers loan ended before the award was announced.

results part3 (http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/5822/resultspart3qv8.jpg)

An increase in attendances, a good FA cup run and the prize money from winning the FA trophy meant our bank balance was in a very healthy state, and when I asked for improvements to be made to the youth and training facilities and also a stadium expansion, the board were all too happy to oblige, and work will begin soon on that.

Hitchin Town - Blue Square South - 2010/11 Season Review

Well, after not playing football manager for months, I dived straight back in, midway through my third season with Hitchin Town.

The season started very strongly, with us going unbeaten until November, when we lost 2-1 away at recently relegated Weymouth. We continued strongly in the league, however, winning all our home games going into the new year, and by the end of January we sat top of the table, 7 points clear.

Then it went wrong.

A 2-1 loss away at Bromley was followed by defeat at Boreham Wood, and then a home defeat to Braintree. We then lost to Chelmsford, to lose 4 consecutive league matches in February. Dorchester went ahead of us as top of the league. Then, incredibly, we went to our away game at Dorchester, on the back of our 4 defeats, and won 3-2. I thought we may overhaul Dorchester as leaders at this point, however 4 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses in our last 8 games meant we finished the season in 2nd - 13 points ahead of 3rd placed Weymouth, 8 points behind Dorchester.

Into the playoffs, where we had lost to AFC Wimbledon in the semi final last year. We played Ebbsfleet, and after a 5-2 win away in the first league, I was confident of reaching the final - however we made it hard for ourselves - going down 4-2 at home, and sneaking into the final, 7-6 on aggregate.

The final was against Weymouth, who we had lost to both times in the league. At the Kassam Stadium in Oxford, we fought back from a goal down, for Andrew McIntosh to score an 84th minute winner, to send Hitchin town into the Blue Square Premier. Playoff Final - Weymouth 1 - 2 Hitchin Town (http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m52/supermas_2006/hitchinbssplayofffinal1011.jpg)

uuuuh this is getting way too exciting! One match to go and 4 teams can pinch 1st place, including my beloved Chippenham. I had a fantastic run during the last period of the season. I would hate to see it all go down the drain http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

LEague Table before final match (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/6693/03142008122227es5.jpg)

Fixtures for the final game:

Q.P.R: away against Brighton (7th)
Carlisle: home against Rochdale (8th)
Southampton: home against Notts Co (23th)
Chippenham: away against Hull (5th).

Final fixture (http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/5931/03142008122911yo3.jpg)

Southampton looks to have the easiest game. I am forced to win if I want 1st place - not even a draw is enough. I could settle for a draw though. If either Q.P.R or Carlisle either lose or draw.

Exciting and nervous time ahead! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

MikaelS - Season 11/12 - Chippenham in Coca-Cola League 1

As I did in the other leagues, I thought this was going to be a tough time and a direct relegation. At first it really looked like it, but as time went on, my players played better and better. I changed the squad a lot because I found some not playing consistent enough.

As I said, the start was horrible, but slowly we began to progress up through the table. In the end it was a matter of hanging on and getting the luck needed. I clinched the 1st place on last 2 matches.

League Cup:
1st Round: Lost 4-7 to Wycombe. (http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/7945/03142008201351bm0.jpg)

FA Cup:
Saw us beating Swindon 3-1, Rochdale 1-0 before losing to Preston in the 3rd round. I managed a draw in the first match though (away), but lost the rematch.

Johnstone’s Paint Trophy:
Saw us beat Bournemouth, Wycombe (revenge!), Port Vale, Aldershot before meeting Oxford in the South Final.

He did very well considering 76 goals were scored against us in the league.

Jo Kuffour (http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/6647/03142008204247vg3.jpg)
21 assists. Fantastic season.

Zoltan Harsanyi (http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/7771/03142008204354dx0.jpg)
4th choice striker, but he did bang in 19 goals. Very lethal in the cups.

Liam Barratt (http://img252.imageshack.us/img252/7927/03142008204808io9.jpg)
Another great season by Liam. He was 2nd choice as a striker until I found my Norwegian killer http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Joshua King (http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/6442/03142008205237gn1.jpg)
Fantastic season by this Man Utd reject. 20 goals in 34 matches.

Oskar Karlsson (http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/3564/karlssonhd6.jpg)
Amazing season from this AIK reject. Absolutely 1st choice.

They really suck. I got gutted by the win bonuses and extra wages. I really fear that it will be even worse when I move up into CCC.

Wage budget (http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/8954/03142008212549cn8.jpg)
They went up and down and I had to free transfer some players in order to keep it in check.

AFC Wimbledon update:

Currently 15th in the Championship which is bad considering I promised Promotion.

Got so annoyed with my team after the 4th Rd FA Cup loss that I decided to go on holiday and let the ass-man take over for some games.

Turns out, having watched the extended highlights, that's he's actually a pretty good manager except for 1 thing.

He's Mute. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Not his fault of course but he doesn't say anything to the side, ever. I noticed this after preseason games but presumed it was just because it was preseason.

Pre-game: Team (None)
Half-time: Team (None)
Post-game: Team (None)

After winning their last game, the None has of course made the team angry, just wish I could let him keep managing for a while and just do team talks. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Also, on a side note, Watford have just been deducted 10 points for going into administration. Time to get what I can from them http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Notes
A good season; always around the top, despite never actually challenging for the title. In a way, it’s good we didn’t get promoted – I doubt we’d have stayed up in the Blue Square Premier. Most of this season’s players have gone/are going, so I’m not expecting a playoff place next season.

Pre season over - this is a big shock after playing with relegation threatened premiership teams.

I'm restricting my wage spending (that's code for noone vaguely useful wants to play for me).

Pre season was eventful (http://img148.imageshack.us/my.php?image=preseasonvw8.jpg) - Two draws, Two wins and *cough* Three defeats.

We had a handful of players on greys, some have earned contracts, some haven't.

We have three players in on loan from Plymouth (Parent club) and six free transfers in. (http://img148.imageshack.us/my.php?image=preseasontransfersbn3.jpg).

Now for the first game of the season against Basingstoke - I have a feeling this is going to be a long and tough season. Updates to follow!

Well Pre-Season did not go good http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

The Highlight of it was a 3-2 win over Northwich Victoria, which was in the middle of defeats to Wolves (12-0 http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif) Exter and Barnsley (Both 4-0), Played first three games of the season. Got off to half decent-ish start with a 1-1 draw with reditch http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif But then lost all confidence in my defend with a 3-0 and a 4-0 drubbings by Hucknall and Burscogh.

I predict im going to be out by christmas at this rate http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Well my attempt at the challenge this year was nearly ended by my computer - whilst reinstalling Windows, Windows decided to randomly wipe the partition that held all my files, luckily I managed to recover most of my files, and I'd maded a backup of my save game at the end of this season before I applied the second patch - which was rather fortunate as it was the only one that wasn't corrupted. (Though I did lose my skin http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif)

Marine - League One 2015/16

After narrowly missing out on the playoffs last season, I was hoping for promotion this season, mainly because I'm struggling to keep hold of my better players - vice-capation Harris spent the whole season transfer listed by request, after he demanded a move to a bigger club (luckily no big offers have come in for him, just some easily fended off bids from Championship and League One Sides).

Again we would spent most of the season playing elsewhere - this time Tranmere's stadium (Prenton Park - 10 miles away on the other side of the Mersey), as Rossett Park was yet again being expanded.

It was the quietest season for Transfers (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/1397/transfersnq6.jpg) since I've started - mainly because I struggled to find good enough players who were willing to sign for me - Callum O'Connor signed on a free from Blackburn, a couple of youngsters were also snapped up, and a couple of player brought in on loan a defender Andrew Shaw from Newcastle and ex-Man Utd Keeper Tom Heaton from Hibs.

Though I did go a bit crazy spending a club record £200K on Argentine striker Sergio Gallego (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9530/gallegovi2.jpg) who my scouts raved about at the U20 World Cup, and he had quite a lot to say for a youngster - he'll teach the fans real football (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/8342/gallegoteachfanstq7.jpg), wants to be centre of attention (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9972/gallegocentreed3.jpg) and rather worrying see's the club as a stepping stone (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/5687/gallegosteppingwr7.jpg) - he did wel in the few games he played, being the third striker in a team that only plays one limited his chances, but 4 goals and 3 assists from 4(10) games was not a bad return.

A major problem I had this season was getting players to sign new contracts - Hungarian Midfielder Karoly Baranyai refused to sign a new contract and looked like he was going to leave on a free as only Middlesboro were interested in him and would only offer me nothing for him plus percentage of next sale, luckily a no longer Bankrupt West Ham took him off my hands for £500K plus 50% of his next sale http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

West Ham have rather annoyed me, last season they were supossedly bankrupt, yet spent £1.5m on players, this season they spent £4m on players (they only recouped about £1.5m from sales) - where'd they get all this money from, they are showing as £36m in debt, though it looks like they have sold off their youth academy. They also had Lazio as there parent team http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

The season didn't get off to the best of starts right winger van den Berg broke his leg (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/4048/vanbenbergbrokenleghg0.jpg) against Hartlepool and would be out for six months.

I'll start off with the cups first for a change - We won our first ever Carling Cup game this season with a 3-0 away win against League Two Darlingtion (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/5683/carlingfirstqo0.jpg), the second round saw us make the trip upto Middlesbrough, who promptly send us home with a 3-0 defeat (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/8173/carlingsecondvl8.jpg) http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

The Paint Trophy saw us drawn with Bury for the second season in a row and again we needed pens to win the match (fourth pen shootout I've had in 7 Paint Trophy Games) - Bury missing all 4 pens helped. In the second round we beat York 1-0 thanks to a goal from Naylor, the Quarter Final North saw a nearly full strength side lose 1-0 to table topping Hull thanks to an offside goal from Matt Bowman (who played for my Frickley side on FM2007, and wasn't renowed for his goalscoring ability http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif)

The FA Cup had me rather worried the board were expecting us to make it to the Third Round this season, considering I'd only made it to the Third Round once so far things weren't looking good.

We got off to a good start with a 3-0 win against League Two Mansfield (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/3790/facup1stcf1.jpg) fielding a largely second string side. The Second Round again saw us drawn away to a League Two side this time Rushden, a double from Spevak helped us to win 4-2. (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/3466/facup2ndtw5.jpg)

It was no surprise that the Third Round also drew us away to a League Two side - Grimsby this time, we needed a second half comeback to beat them after we conceeded a dodgy penalty just before half time. (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/2301/facup3rdpc3.jpg)

Then things started getting a bit more difficult, the Fourth round would see us entertain struggling Championship side Charlton (we missed out on BSP side Cambridge and the last League Two side Lincoln), in the end it turned out to be a rather easy game - a double from Danny Naylor gave us a 2-0 win, and the fans started dreaming of Wembley. (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9350/facup4thxw2.jpg)

The Fifth Round saw us travel to Wales to play Championship Cardiff, who took an early lead thanks to CM/FM legand Daniel Braaten, but we managed to equalilse in the 90th minute thanks to Spevak (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/6587/facup5thtg0.jpg), who then scored a hat-trikc in the replay to put us into the Sixth Round 4-2. (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/1875/facup5threplayos4.jpg)

The Quarter Finals saw us drawn away to another Championship side - this time high flying West Brom (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/1852/facup6thqw3.jpg), and again we needed a last minute goal to send the game to a replay, this time thanks to Naylor (Spevak grabbed two assists - at this stage in the season I started switching from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 late in games I wasn't winning). Also to add insult to injury WBA's scoring Andy Champion was the same left back I had onloan last season who was useless http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

In the end West Brom proved too strong for us in the replay and we went out 2-1 (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/3509/facup6threplaypt4.jpg) http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

A major problem with the FA Cup run (and internationals) is that my league games kept on getting postponed, leaving me to spend most of the season three games behind everyone else, this ment we spent most of the season just about in the playoffs finally finishing third. (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/6412/possq1.jpg)

The playoffs saw us drawn against Chesterfield who'd already beaten us twice in the league this season, and with my right back O'Connor out injured for the playoffs things weren't looking good, however we were in good form and managed to carry it into the playoffs, but despite hammering Chesterfield (19 shots, 10 on target) we could only win 2-0 (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9956/playoffleg1np9.jpg), thanks to Spevak and an own goal.

A nervy second leg ensured and with Chesterfield leaving their shooting boots at home, a 1-1 draw (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/5797/playoffleg2zh4.jpg) was enough to set up a playoff final against Swansea.

The playoff final saw us take an early two goal lead, and we managed to hold out against an underpar Swansea side and win 2-1 (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/5752/playofffinalkp5.jpg), which saw us promoted to the Championship!

Though it was a rather expensive promotion - we got £100K for finishing third, but it cost me £525K in bonuses http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Final Table (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/2845/finaltableth1.jpg) - Hull ran away with the league, whilst West Ham came so close to relagation to League Two - we hammering them 5-2 and 2-0 didn't help them http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Squad (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/5480/squadgk3.jpg) - Ramos had a good season in midfield, put refused to sign a new contract and will sign for Academica (Portugal) on a free at the end of the season http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

My three star players being on form this season helped us gain promotion - Scottish Towering Centre-back Dean Law (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/1491/lawxj3.jpg), and English youngsters James Harris (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9262/harrisxj9.jpg) and Danny Naylor (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/2349/naylorzm9.jpg) - nearly mirror the core of my Marine team from the FM06 challenge that comprised of Left Winger and Captain Nicky Price, Wonderkids AMC Danny Wilson and ST Simon Wilkinson, it's a shame I haven't found a centre-back pairing to rival my Frickley centre-backs from FM07 - Danish CD Jensen and NIrish CD Gibson (who played nearly 500 games for me, before randomly retiring with no notice), which were followed up by English World Class centre-backs Foy and Perry.

Keeper Woods kept 20 clean sheets, but fails to get a 7 rating?

Club Info (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9918/clubinfofk3.jpg) - Spevak makes it onto the favoured list (but disappeared by the start of the next season), stadium nicely expanded but still will be the smallest in the Championship. Board have also decided that the youth facilities are good enough, but have agreed to improve the training facilities.

Best XI 2015/16 (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/4448/bestxi1516dq3.jpg) and Best XI Overall (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/9813/overallxiig4.jpg) - Dean Law replaces Sam Tierney in defence and Naylor replaces Simon upfront.

Manager Profile (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/3960/profileys3.jpg) - Upto National reputation, and rather worrying it appears to be my reputation that encourges players to sign, rather than the club.

Snapshot (http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/5963/snapshothu0.jpg) - Danny Naylor player of the season, and we have about £5m in the bank to avoid relagation from the Championship with.

Other Stuff

Feeder Clubs - I did finally a couple of seasons ago pick up a couple of useless feeder clubs - Thurrock (BSS) and Tonbridge Angels (non-league), however with them being over 200 miles away on the other side of the country (East of London and Kent) no one wants to go on loan to them, though I may have found the reason why it's so hard to get feeder clubs - the computer teams have taken them all - all the BSN teams already have parents clubs, as do all the Welsh and Irish (NI & ROI) except for three teams, so whilst it's nice to be able to tell your board which type of feeder club you want, I haven't been able to take advantage of it yet, due to my chairman's inability to find a feeder club http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Staff - what is the most amount of staff anyone has been able to have in the challenge, in the Championship I am still stuck with the same amount since we turned pro - 3 scouts, 2 physios, and 8 coaches and one assistant manager - has anyone ever actually hired a first team or youth coach, rather than a normal coach?

Also has anyone noticed a lack of quality scouts in their game? only 10 staff members in my game have JPA and JCA 18+ (Cardiff in the Championship have actually employed a scout with JPA=1 and JCA=5).

Seems to me a large database just seems to load/generate more useless players/staff, may go back to normal next time.

Bring on the Championship...

Club: Guiseley
Coach: Joost Nijhof (foost)
League: BSN
Season: 01

Last year's challenge went okish, finished 6th (League One) in my 11th season in charge of Grantham Town. This year with a new team I am trying to complete the challenge for a change! The team i choose was Guiseley. Simple, love the name and love the kits. Since I am dutch I don't have a clue where Guiseley is based, but tbh I don't bother eather. Right. With the new patch (8.02) installed I started the first season.

GOAL:
My goal for the first season was to survive, which I did. Finishing 17th with a negative goal difference of 14. But I didn't do that bad since we drawn 14 games out of the 42. The highest drawing score in the league... Most important thing that needs to change is off course all those goals against. Bringing in some new defenders, and trying to loan from Leeds (my parrent).

Hey everyone, nice to see so many people having a go with Halesowen Town (I live in Halesowen, go me!)

Before on FM I've only ever really played with Villa and Walsall once or twice, but I'm going to give this challenge a go, hopefully gonna get Halesowen too. I'm holidaying at the minute. Just thought I'd say hello and hope you all welcome me to this thread http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Kings Lynn 2008/2009

Well first season complete and no complaints here. The only thing I would say is I think I would have preferred to choose a team that didnt have a parent club as I found first season pretty easy.

Anyway my cup form was terrible only winning one cup game in FA Trophy but luckily board didnt expect us to do any better.

We ran away with the league due to a couple of loanees. However one made a real difference as you can see here (http://img254.imageshack.us/my.php?image=martin77goalsto7.jpg)

Dafuge, I signed up to your website, and I am at the point where I need to verify my email address. I haven't received an email, not even in my Spam folder. If I click on the link on your website to 'resend the verification email', the page expires. Any thoughts on what I can do next? I'm using a googlemail email address if that helps.

Can anyone shed any light on this? Cheers.

finances are in great shape and we seemed to score goals for fun, mainly through our loan loan signings from newcastle, and also attacking mid jay smith who contibuted with 27 goals in all competitions.

i'm now being linked with all these jobs, have yet to be oferred one yet though

need to be build for next season especially improvements in goal and at both full backs.

Here goes - played champy/fm from the start and i'm hoping this challenge which i've often considered over the last couple of years will provide a much needed long term game. After numerous reloads to try and get a team under 1000 rep, im landed with Tiverton Town (1000rep) as i'm itching to get going and they're as 'home town' as they can be.

some clarification on the rules - it states you can sign a free foreigner, as long as they are willing to come on trial, does that mean they have to come on trial or can we assume if they want to sign they'd come on trial? (thus just sign them up on the assistant's recommendation)

aaberdeenn

If you can't scout them, then they have to at least accept a trial and you'd need to provide some proof that they did actually go on trial to you.

AFC Wimbledon Championship 16/17 Season Review

What an awful season!

First time in this challenge that I've really gone backwards. Having finished 7th last season, I was looking for playoffs and promotion and told the board accordingly.
Started out great but then we went into freefall, ruining morale, making everyone unhappy and there being a threat of relegation.

Table (http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/1416/tableoy8.jpg)
Graph (http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/4168/graphrj1.jpg)

This lead to the board losing confidence in me and for a lot of the season the job security was "Insecure". Will need to be modest with my prediction if I make it through the post-season.

Competition Confidence (http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/1236/confidencegu6.jpg)

Lost a number of players over the season, mainly the chairman's fault and my captian of 330 games wanted out after I rejected an offer for him so we had to rebuild the squad with frees and value transfers.

Transfers (http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/2909/transferspi8.jpg)

Squad (http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/4125/squadvv5.jpg)

Some of the better players this season, all on frees http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Chambers-No 1 Striker (esp after chairman sold no2 and no3) (http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/5126/chamberszn4.jpg)

Camps, Right winger, might struggle to hold his place next season though (http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/8950/campsnr1.jpg)

Ochirosii- Left winger, did a great job replacing former captain Hall (http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/8982/ochirosiiqf4.jpg)

Off-field things went a little better, mainly due to the player sales.

Finances (http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/6879/financesbr5.jpg)
The only financial issue is that towards the end of the season, revenue dropped dramatically so hopefully that'll turn back around next season.

Current Profile (http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/7145/profilesf1.jpg)

On other notes, scouting is going a little better, having a full season of scouting all of Europe. On top of that, the board have promised a stadium expansion, improved training and improved youth facilities. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Aims for next season:

Improve defence and goalkeeper.
Rise back up the ladder and challenge for playoffs.
Find and bring in youngsters that will be genuine Premiership players in the future.
Keep my job!!!

Don't use photobucket, however, should be the same. Get the link after uploading that doesn't have the tags on it (i.e. http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm93/JJMonkey79/th_Players.jpg )

Then, in the post window, click the URL button, paste the link on the top line and write what you want the title to be on the bottom.

Dafuge, i'm still at a loss on this too!

Foost, i'll be sticking to a very basic 4-4-2 with standard roles for each position, just tweaking things like through balls and run with ball. Might also reduce creative freedom all round as I believe it will be important to keep it simple for these 'skillfully challenged' players. I could be off the mark tho, time will tell!!

I was so trying to play LLM style (still am!) that my main focus was trying to get some scouts to find players for me.

I'll pause the game at 30th December until dafuge posts on this. Thinking about it, I prob will just move over to the LLM forum with this if he says no, only gotta do another 2 and a half seasons before I can post there!

aaberdeenn
23-03-2008, 17:40
Playing LLM style is quite fun but can be difficult. How did you find aquiring scouts? I've had problems in the past having scouts apply through the job centre.

Living_Legend
23-03-2008, 17:59
No, I had scouts applying easily enough - only problem being that the two I employed didn't start finding me players until after matches had started!

Every day I was checking for reports, crossing my fingers... This is my first FM08 game at all - only got it on Thurs.

Yeah, I've been very fortunate that one of my youth players is a good striker for that level, and I got two other strikers on loan that are playing very well. Can't find a GK for love nor money! My unbalanced squad led to a 5-5 draw and a 6-4 loss, in the latter I was down 4-0 and brought it back to 4-4 but couldn't hold on...

aaberdeenn
23-03-2008, 18:11
So was your squad for the opening game or two made up of mainly youth players?

Playing in England, it often takes upto 2 weeks to get scouts in, then a further month or so before they find significant numbers of decent standard players. Due to that the start of the season is often quite hectic and results probably won't go your way. When they can't find players for that certain position you need such as the goalkeeper position you can have an initial struggle as it could be a few months before they actually find a goalkeeper.

Yep pretty much youth players and a player/ Assistant Manager who I only hired because he could fill 2 roles! Oh yeah, I also loaned a player who was at the club the previous season as I didn't think that would be contra to LLM rules. He was sent home as soon as scout reports started coming in as the fans weren't feeling his lacklustre performances.

I'd been playing with a grey GK until the start of December when I offered one a contract.

My squad consists of 6 original youth players, 4 promoted grays, the aforementioned Player/Asst. Man, 3 loans - one who refused a loan extension, and 3 free transfers...

Indy216957 - Halesowen Town - 2015/2016 - Championship

So first season in the championship went a lot better than I thought it would. I was really strapped for cash so I had to sell Ciaran Clark, my best player and a very strong center back, but at least I got 1mil for him so that helpped out my finances. I wasn't allowed to spend much of it so I didn't really, except for the purchase of Rob van der Vall who I hope will be a solid replacement in a few years. I got a few loan signings that were solid in Simon Kennedy and Craig Quinton and the season turned out well as I hovered just outside the playoffs before eventually dropping back into midtable. It was a good season simply because we avoided relegation. Now hopefully we can start to build on it.

2016/2017 - Championship

Second season in the championship and we actually took a step in the wrong direction. At least in terms of places as our final position was 3 spots lower. We actually had one more point than last season though. Undoubtedly the signings of the season were Fabio Ferreira and Adam Phillip. Both provided for a strong attack this year. My defense is still the biggest problem. I was tied for fourth in scoring on the year, but near the bottom in goals against. That will be my biggest problem to address in this coming offseason. If I can do that, then I can definitely have a shot at the playoffs.

How on earth have you managed to sign danish players with that kind of ability. Offered them trials? They won't join Margate http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Remember that KaNovi is in 2033 and has already led a BS team up to CL and PL. He then resigned and took over as new BS team.

My scouts found this striker 2 1/2 years ago at an U-20 World Cup when he was 15. They said he had the potential to be better than any current strikers abut would need a work permit and couldn't transfer until 18.

I got the permit on appeal (a great sign about his potential btw http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif, now, he's 18 and coming to London.

Got him for £275k from the min release clause, at last check before transfer he was valued at £1.8m http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Amauri Headline (http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/6977/amaurinewswl5.jpg)

As you can guess he's going to be tough to manage but with my no.1 striker wanting out, might be what I need to get into Premiership as I can't afford to buy players good enough when they're mature.

Amauri Profile (http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/4769/amauriga4.jpg)

A little worried about his physical stats, especially since our training facilities aren't great but I'll lose my job if we don't perform this season so....boom or bust!!

This is very very bad indeed. I'm on course for relegation; the AI is always playing tricks on me. Typically, I get a million chances and never score, while my opponents get one chance and score. In the end-game, the expert pundits say ".. when it could so easily have gone in Ilkeston's favor." Well, why doesn't it ever?!

Relegation is a real possibbility this season.

So, I have decided to start dafuge's challenge. Unfortunately there are only youth players in the sqaud, and the board expect us to avoid relegation. With only £2k to spend on wages, it's certainly going to be a baptism of fire. I'm hoping that I can get a decent parent club which could obviously be vital!!

Club: Guiseley
Coach: Joost Nijhof (foost)
League: BSN
Season: 02

GOAL:
First season was not great and still not having troubles to find the right tactic. My fav. tactic (attacking wingplay) with 4-3-3 ain't a success. And that I found out aswell this season. Next season an other tactic will be a fact. Tho, this season wasn't that bad. Ended, lucky, third and made the playoffs. Won the Semi, but lost the final http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Biggest problem is the defence and goalkeeper (next to the tactic http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) so there will be some new players. Found out lots of youngsters from League 1 sides are willing to join me, so looking good so far.

Also my scout picked up a great youngster, Grant Emery (http://www.joostnijhof.com/dafuge08/s02-Player-GrantEmery.jpg). He will be loaned out to my feederclub first season, but his potential (http://www.joostnijhof.com/dafuge08/s02-Player-GrantEmery-Scout.jpg) is VERY hot! Very curious how he will develops.

Margate - BSP - season 4 - End of story http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

My third season in the BSP proved to be the last in charge of Margate in this challenge. I couldn't copy the success I had in FM 07 and after 4 straight defeats at the start of the season where we were completely outplayed I resigned. I wouldn't risk being sacked again - I hate being sacked.

So now I look for greener pastures with the 8.02 patch and will definetely try a below 1.000 rep team this time 'round.

I will never visit Margate again........... http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

League Two

I'm being very slow at this I'm afraid!

Anyway - good news, I was promoted after finishing second in League 2. (http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f92/Crispypaul/leaguetwo1011.jpg)

Went out in the first round of the League Cup to Southampton, and the 2nd round of the Johnston's Paint Trophy to someone (name escapes me!)

I did, however, manage to make it to the fourth round of the FA Cup, and being drawn away at Man Utd improved the bank balance somewhat.

After 3 successive promotions, I expect now we'll be settling down in a division for at least a couple of seasons.

Marine - Championship 2016/17

With last seasons playoff victory, the team would need strengthening to stay in the Championship - the board just wanted us to avoid relegation and rather surprisingly they gave me £2.6m to do it (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/5414/expectationsni2.jpg), and also let me scout Europe, though they wouldn't let me have anymore scouts - so I sent my CA scout off to Eastern Europe and my PA Scout to Scandinavia, and my third scout to check on players in the player search screen.

For the first time ever the board randomly offered me a new contract (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/493/newcontractxi7.jpg), rather than wait for it to nearly expire http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

On my shopping list this season was yet again a centre-back to partner Law, a leftback as Eekman struggled a bit towards the end of the season, I also need some more squad depth in the centre of midfield - Racon is my only DM, whilst my MC/AMC's have been reduced to the aging Tsankov and a couple of promising youngsters, so I'll need some midfielders to take the pressure off and provide some squad depth, I'll also need a right winger to provide cover for the injury prone van den Berg, and also possibly a backup Keeper.

With my scouts scouting Europe, I first signed some promising free youngsters from the search screen (scouting players, so much easier than having to trial them all), paid a bit of money for some promising english/scottish youngsters - the best of the bunch being Scottish Centre-back Steven Forrest (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9494/stevenforrestxz7.jpg) from St. Mirren for £4K.

First team wise I picked up ex-Chelsea youngster Nana Ofori (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/507/nanaoforivo2.jpg) on a free who can play either centre-back or right-back, and intialy bought to partner Law in the centre, who the fans seemed impressed with (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7502/oforixk2.jpg). I also brought in Bulgarian left back Radoslav Tasev (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/4194/radoslavtasevpp4.jpg) for £100K from CSKA (Sofia).

I reinforced the Defensive Midfield position with the capture of highly rated Spanish youngster Alfredo Perez Gomez (http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/237/alfredoperezgomezhz5.jpg) for £55K from Getafe and a young Dutchman Lennart de Boer (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7207/lennartdeboertp3.jpg) on a free (not sure if he is related to Frank or Ronald but one can dream - Frank de Boer is currently a coach at Birmingham).

The rest of my midfield reinforcements came thanks to my Eastern European scouting trip - young Romanian midfielder Mihai Zamfir was signed from Otelul for £130K - but injuries limited his appearances and he was eventually loaned out to Hartlepool. I picked up Premiership rated Polish midfielder Michal Matusiak (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/5417/michalmatusiakpu8.jpg) for £150K from Belchatow (who are actualy Feeder club free, like a few Polish sides, so why won't my chairman offer me one of them instead of Tonbridge Angels over and over again!) and then spent a club record £325K on Austrian Midfielder Gernot Madl (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7789/gernotmadlqe5.jpg) from Bulgarian side Litex, I completed my summer transfer activty with the signing of young Czech winger Jaroslav Straka (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/9694/jaroslavstrakaed8.jpg) from Slovan Liberec for £60K, I also brought Tom Heaton in onloan again to cover for Woods.

In January I took a chance on another young Brazilian MRC Alex (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/1876/alexmd1.jpg) who was signed for £200K from Corinthians and who will not leave me on a free!

Then my chairman decided to nearly destroy my season - accepting a bid of £1.4m from fellow Championship side Brighton for Dean Law!!! (http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/953/crappychairman1iz7.jpg) http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif . It's bad enough my players getting unhappy when I reject bids from fellow Championship sides really doesn't help when my chairman gifts them players(how do they not realize that playing for another Championship side is not playing at a higher level!)

In the end I spent a record £1.1m on players, but still made a profit. (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/5798/transfersxo4.jpg)

The season got off to a mixed start - our first win of the season (http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/5815/interestingstartng3.jpg) came in our third game against Norwich, where after 8 mins we found ourselves 1-0 down and down to 10 men after centre-back Dawes got sent off for I'm not sure what? A second half brace from Danny Naylor put us ahead before Norwich were also reduced to 10 men and they later put the ball in their own net to make it 3-1 to Marine.

The major problem this season is that we couldn't put together any sort of run - we beat Bolton 2-0, Aston Villa 4-2 at Villa Park (4-1 at home with all the goals coming in the first half coming back from 1-0 down), but then draw to Burnley, Cardiff and lose to Leyton Orient. Also when we lost we'd like to lose heavily suffering three 3-0 defeats and four 3-1 defeats.

This was possibly because half my team hadn't played together before, and half of them couldn't speak English. (and the cover not upto Championship standards)

Rather frustratingly we were the only team to do the double over run away winners Leeds - beating them 1-0 at home and 3-0 at Elland Road.

Half way through the season we were sitting just outside the playoffs, but after the FA Cup Third Round defeat to Sheff Utd we imploded only picking up three wins in the last 19 games - with wins over Villa (at this point we had the worst form in the league) and Leeds and a 4-3 thriller against Watford (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/6859/watford43ws3.jpg) - we managed to throw away a three goal lead, before a 85th minute pen by Ofori put us back in front (we even managed to miss a later pen) we then followed that up with a game against Sheff Utd that someone ended 0-0 (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/8762/nilnilsomehowvi8.jpg) with my Keeper Woods saving two first half pens.

Before the Sheff Utd game I got the weirdest (but cool) message I've ever seen - my young Faroes left back was spotted by the press leaving a nightclub and didn't bother to turn up to training (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/3613/absentej2.jpg) - didn't even know that was in the game. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Despite our awful form, we somehow were never in danger of relegation, and were infact safe from relegation (and promotion) with several games togo, so I decided to field some of my youngsters - to give them some epxerience, and to be fair we couldn't do much worse than we already were.

This then lead to a rather crazy game against West Brom (http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/9862/wba46fc9.jpg) - midway through the first half we took the lead, but then found ourselves 4-1 down at halftime, thanks to a five minute hat-trick from Bignall, who then added a fifth just after half-time, at this point I'd given up on the game, but somehow we fought back to 5-4, only for WBA to hit us on the counter-attack and finish us off 6-4 - which is now our highest scoring game.

In the end we finished in a rarther comfortable (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/4537/poszr1.jpg) 15th place. (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/2550/tablemg9.jpg)

Squad (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7418/squadzu7.jpg) - Naylor (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7661/dannynaylorsl1.jpg) and Spevak again leading the line upfront, left winger Harris (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/6963/jamesharrissh4.jpg) decided he no longer wanted to leave the club, and then at the end of the season, requested a transfer again. Straka impressed on the right wing, whilst young San Marnio midfielder Bruno Capicchioni (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/5214/brunocapicchioniyr2.jpg) was the most impressive of my central midfielders. Ofori had an impressive season at the back, and ex-Man Utd youngster Matthew Robinson (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7085/matthewrobinsonvc9.jpg) impressed the most as his partner, and with us not gaining promotion to the Premiership Naylor's release fee was activted a bargain at £50m (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/118/naylorreleasevr5.jpg) http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Rather interesting is that earlier in the season right back O'Connor wouldn't sign a new contract, Motherwell attempted to sign him on a bosman and he turned them down saying didn't want to leave (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/3755/oconnorcontractgz8.jpg), so why wouldn't he sign a new contract? Luckily towards the end of the season he started moaning about wanting a new contract and he took the £3K I offered him when he was demanding £7K a couple of months before.

Best XI (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/7136/bestxi1617lt6.jpg) - Bit messed up with Bruno playing DM.

Overall Best XI (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/393/bestxioveralldc2.jpg) - O'Connor promoted from the bench to replace Eekman, whilst van den Berg replaces Simon on the bench and Mtandari randomly returns to the team?

Profile (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/8303/profileep8.jpg) - no real change apart from my wage doubling.

Snapshot (http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/3552/snapshotmn2.jpg) - cups ended before they started, we beat Maccesfield 2-0 in the Carling Cup First Round, before crashing to Palace on pens, whilst Sheff Utd beat us 2-1 in the FA Cup.

Club Infomation (http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/5163/clubinfo2fv8.jpg) - Naylor gets adding the fav. personnel, whilst we now have a 17,000+ capacity stadium and is no longer the smallest in the league. We are also the 25th most valued club in England - above Premiership sides Stoke and Huddersfield.

Next season is going to be interesting - at the end of the season, the rest of Europe has descended on my team like vultures - receiving daily enquiries for most of my players (and crappy low offers or exchanges), my chairman then goes and accepts a £2.1m bid for left back Tasev from Southampton (he's worth £1.7m and other teams are bidding £4m-£6m in the end he goes to Betis for £2.5m plus 50% of his next sale, Polish midfielder Matusiak becomes annoyed when I turned down a crappy offer from Wolves, and looks like he'll be off to a midtable French side for £2.5m aswell, now left wondering what kind of team I'll have left to start the season with http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

canvey!! – Mangotsfield United – 2011/12 – Blue Square South

Pre-Season Review

Mangotsfield 3 – 1 Billericay
After realising I had signed way too many central defenders, I moved most of them into the reserves ahead of the first pre-season match. We went ahead in the 1st minute, and held onto that limit until half time. Paul Simpson doubled the lead 6 minutes after the restart, before Billericay scored 5 minutes from time. However, the two goal lead was restored, with new signing Malcolm Christie coming on and scoring.
MOM: Paul Simpson (8)

Mangotsfield 3-2 Prescot Cables
We went 1-0 down 7 minutes in, but Brian Ryan levelled it just before half-time. He took us into the lead in the 56th minute, but 8 minutes later a defensive concentration lapse meant Prescot were level. When the game looked to be heading to a draw, Cables’ Jamie Brown scored a nice own goal to give us a good win.
MOM: Brian Ryan (8)

Mangotsfield 2-3 Matlock
We took an early lead, but found ourselves drawing at half-time. Dean John scored an own goal just into the second half to give us the lead again, but two more Matlock goals, spaced thirty minutes apart, gave us the result our poor performance merited.
MOM: Matlock’s Paul Bates (9)

Mangotsfield 3-2 Kidderminster
George Davis put us ahead against Blue Square Premier Kidderminster, who replied almost instantly. Tied at the break, George Davis set up Brian Ryan from a corner in the 53rd minute. Kidderminster equalised, but Ryan scored again to give us a satisfying win.
MOM: Brian Ryan (8)

Mangotsfield 0-3 Stevenage
The team did little to impress while being drubbed by Blue Square Premier Stevenage.
MOM: Stevenage Right-Back Lawrie Wilson (8)

Mangotsfield 0-1 Rushden
After an uneventful first half, Rushden’s goal in the 67th minute was enough to secure the win for the Blue Square Premier side.
MOM: Jerry Bailey (8)

Mangotsfield 8-0 Marine
Lee Millichip scored an opener just 11 seconds into the game, with Brian Ryan doubling the tally 1minute and 3 seconds later. Another quickfire double came from these two again in the 15th and 17th minutes. Brian Ryan secured his hattrick in the 24th minute, but was injured in the 41st. There were, however, no worries, as his replacement, Malcolm Christie, scored a hattrick, starting from just seconds after coming on. Millichip failed to get a hattrick of his own, but his 2 goals and 4 assists was more than enough to get him Man of the Match. Andrew Thornton, who I’d sold to Marine 2 weeks earlier, got sent off for 2 yellow cards.
MOM: Lee Millichip (10)

Mangotsfield 3-0 Gloucester
Against rivals non-league Gloucester, the win was secured ten minutes in with Millichip and Christie scoring, and Millichip doubled his tally 10 minutes from time.
MOM: Lee Millichip (9)

Although not performing too well against Blue Square Premier teams, we met and surpassed expectations against teams at our level, and that leaves me confident we will be somewhere near the top come the end of the season. With my player purge, we are lacking a bit of depth, which will be necessary if we are to achieve those coveted playoff places.

Impressive reading. But Im curious to how you manage to sign all those foreign players when the rules sets limits to how to find players? Are your scouts that international now? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

About half of them were signed that season when I could scout Europe. Of the previous ones a few were spotted at the U20 World Cup (Non-Europeans, Czech Striker Spevak and I think my Montenegrian winger was spotted playing against one of my players), the majority were trialled in from my player search screen, after I picked up some european staff (I filter the search screen with EU nationality, not based in england under 18, and most of the time unattached and trial whoever appears - the vast majority that accept are useless but you find a couple of promising players).

Looking back Czech Striker Spevak was my first non-UK based player I signed 5 seasons ago, looks like my French physio started the rest off as he has knowledge of half of central europe, that lead to me signing more foreign coaches.

The San Marino players came about, because I seem to have obtained some knowledge of San Marino from somewhere - me and the San Marino manager seem to have had words sometime - I have a tiny bit of knowledge of San Marino and he has half knowledge of NIreland - thats not fair. (San Marino actually finally won a game this season beating the Faroe Islands 1-0

Bedford Town - BS North - Mr. T.N. Christensen - Season 1 - Here we go!!

After parting with my ex-loved Margate I reloaded more times than I care to remember but never once got a below 1000 rep team. In the end I decided to cast my glance at the mighty Bedford. It's a 1000 rep team so it's close to being a real man. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Tiverton - Blue Sq South - 08/09 Update

Apologies, just been reading everyone's posts, will post with the correct heading from now on.

Going well three points clear at the top, however just went out of the money spinning FA Cup in the third qualifying round to Havant & Waterloo. Gonna use the defeat to change personnel slightly and tinker with the tactics (make them slightly less basic!).

Another plus note, just signed Nilian Nalis on loan for three months (I'd been pestering him for months! and he gave in!)

Good Start (http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm93/JJMonkey79/Robertsgoodstart.jpg)

Buxton run of bad form
12 Games since our last win which was 3-1. We started drawing then losing heavily, now our last 2 games have been draws so we could be on our way back to winning form i hope. 17th now in the table. If we have fallen 6 places after no win in 12 games, 2 or 3 wins should get us back up there so there is hope

Notes
An excellent season turned into an average one. Starting the season with a 13-game unbeaten run, we didn’t lose at home in the league until January. However, it went downhill from there. On the last day of the season, a win would get us into the playoffs providing St. Albans lose. With 10 minutes to go, it was Lewes 1-1 Mangotsfield. A long range belter from midfielder Gavin Kennedy saw us win the game. Now it was up to St. Albans. Tuned into their radios, Mangotsfield fans were heartbroken as they learned that St. Albans had beaten Thurrock by a goal to nil. We were going nowhere.
I’ll need to strengthen the fullback and winger positions for next year, and it would be good to get a defensive mid in. I see no reason why we can’t win the league next season, so I’ll be playing that way. As good news, I’ve been given a three year extension to my contract.

Has anyone else had Premiership (or other computer teams) continuly make low bids for your players? - Leeds and Wolves among others keep on making offers a tenth of the players value (players valued at £250K get bids of £20K plus a friendly - thats only worth £140K though), worse is that they made a £1K bid for my promising Argentine Striker Gallego - why on earth would I accept £199K less than what I played for the player?? it's not as though these players are transfer listed or reaching the end of their contract, or that I need their £1K or £20K - Leeds and Wolves also have plenty of money - Leeds have spent £25m this season, whilst Wolves have just paid £8m for a Championship striker. (I may go bid £1K for all of Leeds players and see how they like it...)

Of course I'm now just waiting for either my chairman to accept a bid of my behalf or for the players to become unhappy http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

canvey!! – Mangotsfield United – 2012/13 – Blue Square South

Pre-Season Review

Mangotsfield 5-2 Mansfield
15 minutes in and we were 3-0 up, thanks to a Brian Ryan hattrick. Mansfield brought it back to 3-2 after the break, but Brian Ryan set to put the game beyond reach for them by scoring again. We were awarded a penalty in the 83rd minute, converted by Jerry Bailey to complete the annihilation of the Blue Square Premier Side.
MOM: Brian Ryan (10)

Mangotsfield 5-3 Chelmsford
Brian Ryan opened the scoring, with Lee Millichip scoring a hattrick, to send us 4-0 up going into the break. However, we were overrun in an abysmal second half, and Chelmsford grabbed 3 goals to strip our margin to 1. However, substitute Marlon Jackson put minds at rest, settling the score 5 minutes from time.
MOM: Lee Millichip (9)

Mangotsfield 5-4 Tiverton
Marlon Jackson scored a hattrick to ensure we went into the break 3-1. A seesaw game followed, Tiverton scoring, before substitute Brian Ryan restored our margin. Tiverton scored two to equalise, and when it looked like the game was heading for a draw, Brian Ryan managed to squeeze a win out again with a wonder goal only seconds from the final whistle.
MOM: Marlon Jackson (9)

Mangotsfield 0-1 York
I predicted a 5-5 draw against Blue Square Premier York, based on the pre-season so far. Marlon Jackson wasted all of our chances in the first half, so I took him off for Brian Ryan at the break. Ryan then wasted all of our chances for twenty-five minutes, so I took him off for Lee Millichip, who wasted all of our chances for the last twenty minutes. Just after Millichip came on, Blue Square Premier York scored the game’s solitary goal.
MOM: York goalscorer Onome Sodje (8)

Mangotsfield 5-2 Gloucester
Grey team and rivals Gloucester took the lead in the 20th minute, which they held until half time. Questioning the team’s passion inspired them to a greater performance, defender Sean Morrison scoring a header from a corner to equalise. He went on to score another two of these and secure a hattrick. We were 4-1 up before Gloucester scored again, Millichip and Ryan scoring one, Morrison two. Morrison restored our four goal margin by rounding off his hattrick.
MOM: Sean Morrison (9)

Season Ticket Sales: 70
Transfers (http://img187.imageshack.us/my.php?image=season5hc6.png)

An excellent pre-season may carry a hidden omen. Although we scored 5 goals in most games, our defensive record leaves much to be desired, conceding 2.4 per match. After filling the wings and fullbacks, I’ve managed to fill in the squad depth-wise and the team should be ready to challenge for the Blue Square South this season.

AFC Hornchurch - First Season

After days of reloading i finally got lucky and AFC Hornchurch were promoted, with only 900 reputation they are the worst team that came up, so i took control and with the board only expecting me too stear clear of relegation i thought it should be pretty easy. With my traditional dodgy start out of the way after playing no friendly games my teams form improved with the signing of Kevin Rodgers from the Cayman Islands, who won the player of the season award for my team and also the leagues best player. With the best attack and defense in the league you would think it was quite easy but i had to win the last 7 or 8 games to finish ahead of Dorchester and clinch the tiltle on the last day. Nothing happened in the cups and the board did'nt expand the facilities.

Mangotsfield- 08/09 Season

My first season started off well holding a nice top half position for after the first 6 games but then slipped down drastically. Managed to salvage the season with a steady run of results and finished 12th which I was quite proud of http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Hopefully put together a promotion push next season with a few new signings.

AFC Wimbledon 17/18 Championship Update.

Just over 1/2 way through the season and the poor performance of last season has been forgotten with a much improved season so far.

The exception to the was an 8-1 defeat to Aston Villa http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

On the flipside, however, was probably the best half of football this team has ever played.

Half time stats vs Nott Forest (http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/2953/besthalflk2.jpg)

2nd half sucked but if the team can continue like they did in the 1st half, promotion is a possibility. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Afc Hornchurch - 09/10 Conference National

I was'nt expecting much out of this season and neither were the board, so after about fifteen games when the team was sitting in mid table i thought that the season was going quite well but then they went on a run of 13 wins, 1 draw and only 2 losses which put me up into the playoff positions where they stayed all year. Rushden were always around ten points clear of me so there was no chance of a league win. The playoffs were quite spectacular as a 3-5 away leg defeat was followed by an impressive 4-0 home victory. The final was another up and down game with Exeter equalising with a penalty in the 90th minute before a penalty shootout victory ensured promotion for a second succesive year. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

A run to the Setanta Shield final included wins over Rushden and Exeter, so when i drew Cambridge in the final a victory was expected, but the team failed miserably and lost to a disputed penalty in the dying minutes of extra time. I was knocked out early in the other cups so nothing to report there.

The teams best player was again Kevin Rodgers with 20+ goals and assists with my strikeforce Blair Carson and Craig Smith scoring 60 goals between them.

Well, I decided to join the challenge, since Im bored with school atm and needed some break.

Bedford Squad first season (http://img358.imageshack.us/img358/6675/bedfordtownbedfordplayeac6.png)

A decent end position for a team that wanted to avoid relegation (http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/738/bluesquaresouthstagesyp3.png), but it was a rollercoaster-ride that took us there (http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/4440/bluesquaresouthpastposicv9.png)

All in all it is the worst first season I have ever done in the FM-series. But still I enjoy it more than before. It seems that it can be more of a challenge managing a LLM-team now more than ever. Which is a good thing. It actually might be enough to keep me going at this challenge for a whilehttp://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So, now its time to start preparing for season two http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Bedford Town Season 09/10
I have no clue where to start the story of season two. This was a season I expected us to at least get a play-off spot. All I needed to do was to tweak my 442 a bit more, to iron out some annoying problems - both attacking and defensively. Then strengthen the squad with a couple of players, and we should be in the top.

But the story of Adam in paradise was a short one.

I did manage to get a couple of decent players during pre-season on free transfer, after scouting and trialling them:
Preseason Transfers:
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">
| 3.7.2009 | Cumber, Lewis | Free Transfer |
| 8.7.2009 | Marsh, Adam | Free Transfer |
| 11.7.2009 | Woollaston, Jake | Free Transfer |
| 19.7.2009 | Lowe, Mark | Free Transfer |
| 21.7.2009 | McCashin, Sean | Free Transfer |
| 3.8.2009 | Jacobsen, Torkil | Free Transfer |
| 3.8.2009 | Adam, Jindrich | Free Transfer |
</pre>
These players strengthen my squad in all parts of the formation, defence, midfield and attack. And the preseason friendlies looked good - despite loosing most of them (my guys was doing what they were supposed to, so I wasnt worried.

But I should have been. Even though my tactics were tweaked and it looked better than last year - and the new guys were settling well - the team got a rather dissapointing start to the season.
After the 16 first matches the team was placed at 12th position - the place last season ended.
The first 16 games in league
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">
HOME: 8 5 1 2 21 12
AWAY: 8 0 2 6 6 15
</pre>
I was clearly not happy enough about this, but I could not see why the team was struggling this much, especially away. As you can see from the home matches, the players are capable of scoring goals - the main problem lies within the defence.
But.. But... My players are good, the tactic was good(following the main "rules" of defending. So why should I let int that many goals?
I watched replays of all the matches, and realized something. My defenders were doing things that they shouldnt do(within my framework and with their stats), and I couldnt see any real reason why they looked like headless chickens out there on the pitch. The second thing I could see, was that many goals were caused by my GK. My GKs(at least from my scouts points of view) should be decent enough, but they clearly was not. Highlights showed that he often "told" the fullbacks to pass to him (you could see him starting to positioning himself for a backpass). Problem was that he never told the fullback not to pass when he got under pressure. This lead to a couple of goals against directly, and a lot of bad clearances from him causing the team to loose position.
The third thing was that my GKs often let in a goals that was way too easy. They didnt move, ball was placed in the corners from 30 metres with the goalie not reacting, or they simply let the ball pass under them (Robinson style).

So it was clear to me that I needed a better GK. I opted to go for this first, rather starting to change the tactic. After an hour of going through the free GKs and inviting them on trial, and scouting them I finally found a decent goalie:
My saviour (http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/7443/brurnielsenprofileiv5.png)

Even though the results didnt go my way straight after him signing, I could clearly see a huge difference. Suddenly my defence(that was not altered in any way) was looking like a unit, not chasing players that should be covered by midfielders - less idiotic backpasses from the fullbacks. And no of the goals scored against me for the first 4 matches was his fault. WOW, was my thought - I was delighted that I finally had a decent goalie, but how on earth could my defence be affected in the way they was? The only reason I could find, is my new GKs communication skills - he had 13(when he was signed) against my first choice's 6. That means twice as good in communicating with the players around him. That is the only reason I could find.

So in the end, it turned out quite well:

Unfortunately no playoffs or promotion this season either, but it might happen next season, now with my good GK in place.
I still have to get rid of some players though - that hasnt matched what was expected.

Marine - Championship 2017/18

Well this season just got worse and worse as it went on. (Even continued onto the write up - where a power cut lost half of this and a month of the next season - though it did mean I managed to save a member of staff as the board have decided I need to fire two coaches before I can hire one) The board wanted me to consolidate our position in the Championship (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/1314/1718consolidateda3.jpg) whatever that meant (appears to mean do not get involved in a relegation fight) and I got a new contract again (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/9251/newcontractagainep0.jpg) just a £100 raise this time though.

Found out that one of my youth players promoted last season John Sharman (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/5341/johnsharmanbl5.jpg) apparently has potential to be a decent Championship striker (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/8143/decentchampzv2.jpg) - shame my best youth player is in the one position I don't need anyone.

From there on in things steadily got worse - attempted to sign a promising Welsh youngster who Wrexham seemed to really want to get rid off - both chairman and manager claimed to have accepted the offer, its a shame he didn't want to sign for me.

Then my chairman decided to get in on the act - accepting a £2.1m offer from Southampton for my Bulgarian left back Tasev (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/661/crappychairmanbe6.jpg) who was valued at £1.6m - found a way to get more money when your chairman does this, offer the player to other clubs for more money - he finally went to Betis for £2.5m, 50% next sale and a friendly.

Then the rest of England descended on my team - they seem to be under the impression that I'm desperate to get rid of everyone for next to no money. Somehow I only managed to lose Polish midfielder Matusiak for £2.5m, after he got unhappy with me turning down a £700K bid from Wolves (anyone else had players get unhappy when you negotiate offers, rather than reject them? - I can understand it if teams made big offers for my players, or big teams bidded, but players getting annoyed when I reject/negotiate crap offers from low-end Premiership or Championship clubs is getting on my nerves.)

My initial plan this season was to give my youngsters a chance - my only major signing was a promising English centre-back Scott Moore from Ipswich for £250K, until the last week of the Transfer Window (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/9060/transfersdo3.jpg) and I panicked a little spending just under £2m on three players from Romania that my scout recommeded - Romanian Keeper George Radu (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/8589/georgeraduqi4.jpg) costing £325K and Serbian Midfielder Nenad Kajtes (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/1504/nenadkajtessz4.jpg) costing a club record £750K both from Dinamo Buc. and a Romanian midfielder Radu Tofansecu (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/4898/radutofanescuyr8.jpg) for £700K from Poli 1921, I also picked up a young Italian right winger/striker Vittorio Capecchi (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/3228/vittoriocapecchicy6.jpg) from Atlanta for £20K.

In the winter window I sold San Marino Defender Zanotti to MBoro for £500K after he started moaning and tried to shore up my defence with some players my scout recommended from the Ukraine - Kiev have several quality centre-backs valued at £2m, but were demanding nearly £7m for them, there also seems to be a lack of left-backs around, as a bidding war erupted over a young Bulgarian left-back who eventually went to someone in France, in the end I managed to sign a Quality Lativan centre-back Andris Scanicins (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/5039/andrisscanicinsda4.jpg) from Shakhtar for a bargain £375K (considering he's now worth £800K) and a young Spanish Striker from Almeria for £45K.

League wise I was hoping to at least make an attempt to get near the playoffs - but we carried in last seasons poor form (4 wins from 22 games in 2017 last season).

Many many things this season went wrong - we threw the lead away in 12 games, we'd either struggle to have more than one or two shots in various games, other games we'd have loads of shots but struggle to get them on target.

My players for most of the season just didn't have any desire to win games - for the first half of the season we managed to win one game a month - switching from 4-3-3 to 4-4-1-1 and then back to my old 4-4-2 didn't seem to have much effect.

In Jan we actually managed to win two games in a row 2-1 against Southampton in the League and 1-0 against Walsall in the FA Cup Third Round, we then went and crashed 3-0 to Mboro - this lead to a nice media message where I got to accuse the players of stealing a living (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/4607/stealingalivingkf1.jpg), however this only had an effect on my left winger Harris, who was determined to prove his worth, but at the same time had no interest in signing a new contract http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

The FA Cup gave us a short distraction from our awful league form - we bossed a Quality Newcastle side at home in the FA Cup 4th Round, but needed a late goal from Naylor to send the game to a replay, in the replay we again controlled the game but just couldn't find a way past Newcastles World-Class Brazlian Keeper, and in the end with my team tiring Newcastle won it in extra-time 2-0 thanks to a deflection and a mistake http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

League wise we managed to win two league games in Feb (first time all season we'd won two league games in a month), with a 2-1 win over Forest and a 3-2 win over fellow struggles Wrexham - After 33 games we were just one point from safety.

March also saw us win two games, and with 42 games gone we were 19th in the League and three points clear of relegation - luckily Accrington were truly awful this season and had already gone down, whilst Norwich in 23rd looked down being 7 points from safety - so it looked like one from Me, Preston, Wrexham and Wigan would be joining them.

Our last four games of the season would be away trips to Wigan and Norwich, a home tie against midtable Plymouth and our final game was away to rock bottom Accrington (where the return fixture was my 500th in charge of the club (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/6205/500thgamevp5.jpg)).

Then things really fall apart, we went down 3-0 to Wigan losing Czech Striker Spevak to injury, I then lost centre-back Nana Ofori to an injured groin muscle that would keep him out for the rest of the season, and another poor performance saw us lose 2-0 to Norwich - which with two games left saw us two points from safety, at least Norwich's win wasn't enough to save them and they would be playing in League One next season, would we be joining them?

We would need a win against Plymouth in our second to last game to stand any chance of staying up - we started well for a change and quickly took the lead through Naylor in the 22nd minute, he was then brought down in the 37th minute for a penalty that my Brazilian Midfielder Alex scored to give us a 2-0 lead, then rather predictably things started to go wrong, two minutes later we gained another penalty but this time Alex missed it. At the start of the second half we were caught sleeping and Plymouth brought a goal back before being reduced to 10 men, then in the 90th minute we would pay for our inability to score a third as my rightback stupidly played Wilde onside (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/5955/plymouthonsiderg0.jpg) who beat my Keeper to make it 2-2 (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/8821/plymouthfe8.jpg) and put is in real trouble.

So with one game left - it was between us and Preston for relegation - Preston were two points ahead but we had the better Goal Difference so we needed to win and Preston need to not win the final game.

The omens weren't good, my Keeper Woods picked up an injury in training (his first for 5 years) and would miss the game, in the end it was a truly awful game against Accrington we just couldn't get going, I even switched between my three formationsa and in the 80th minute all looked lost as Naylor went off injured. Then in the 83rd minute we scored the simplest of goals, San Marino Midfielder Bruno Capicchioni launched a hopeful ball down field that managed to find Spevak free of the defence and one-on-one with the on rushing Keeper who he easily beat to make it 1-0 Marine! (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/6824/lastgamerf6.jpg) and that's how it ended all we needed now to survive was for Preston not to have won, however it wasn't to be as Preston somehow came back from 3-0 down to win 4-3 (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/7008/prestonsg1.jpg) and consign me to my first relegation on FM/CM http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif (Well I was nearly relegated from the Premiership with Sheff Wed back on CM01/02 but jumped ship to Forest before the end of the season).

Final Table (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/2570/tablevo1.jpg) - our inablity to score or win games proved our downfall, League POS Graph (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/390/posrb0.jpg)

Squad (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/1914/squaduh2.jpg) - we didn't actually play too badly, we just couldn't win or score. My new Keeper Radu was quite possibly the worst player I've signed to date - the fans and board were on his back, he didn't play too well, didn't settle and demanded a transfer.

Profile (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/3410/profileko0.jpg) - Preferred Formation changes to 4-4-1-1 after using it for half this season or so.

Snapshot Screen (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/1761/snapshotlp7.jpg) - Yet again went out of the Carling Cup at the second stage.

Seasonal Best XI (http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/5906/bestxiseasondy9.jpg) - Roughly the team that got me relegated. There was no change in the overall best xi - that's how bad we were.

Well I didn't get fired at the end of the season, but next season is going to be fun, my contract expires and the club wants us to be established in the Championship by the end of next season, I also have the fun of seeing if I have any players left for next season...

AFC Hornchurch - League Two - 2010/2011

My first League Two season and the gulf in class between this and the Conference is huge, only a couple of my players made the step up and they barely made it so in the end 20th was all i could achieve. I signed a couple of Welsh youngsters should help us improve a few years down the line and the board won't expand the ground because of the finances although they did improve the facilities.

Question
If i ask my Czech goalie to recommend a player do i still need to scout them or can i sign them anyway?

Question
If i ask my Czech goalie to recommend a player do i still need to scout them or can i sign them anyway?

No if one of your players recommends someone to you, you don't need to scout or trial them. (Though you may want to to check if they are actually any good).

Notes
The season started well, with 7 wins from the first 10 games. Following this, a 7-0 win at Basingstoke made me sure Paulton could be dispatched in the FA Cup. I played this match on April 2nd, and my players can’t have realised that April Fools was over, crashing out 2-0 to the Southern League D1 team. This was forgiven by good performances in the other two cups, 5 opponents dispatched from the FA Trophy and Setanta Shield within ten games. Our league form stuttered, and we left the FA Trophy to Blue Square Premier Cambridge United after an offside goal earned them a home replay.
This spurred us on to a 12-match unbeaten league run, slightly dampened by a 4-1 Setanta Shield loss to Nuneaton on national television. With 3 games to go, we lay second, desperately vying for Forest Green to lose so we could nab the league. St. Albans visited, and were sent home on the wrong end of a 6-1 defeat. Braintree followed by the same scoreline. Two points behind, a win for us with Forest Green not doing so would hand as the league. “Keep going for it,” my words as we led 1-0 against Havant and Waterlooville at half time. A Ryan Speight equaliser took the wind out of our sails, but surely the lads would strive to victory with the title so close? 5 minutes from time, 18 yard shot, GOAL!
Havant and Waterlooville destroyed our title hopes. The result didn’t matter anyway, as Forest Green won 2-1, and our turbulent season (http://img379.imageshack.us/my.php?image=graphev5.png) left us in 2nd. I feared the day I would next face Havant & Waterlooville; 6 days later in the playoffs. 3 consecutive games which could decide the measure of our season’s success.
Long range shots were the theme of the day in the away leg, Brian Ryan’s free kick hitting the keeper on its way in and anchor Paul King launching one from 25 yards. Havant grabbed a goal back, and going into the break, I was nervous. My players wouldn’t close down; they didn’t want to win. The only player fighting was loanee keeper Darren Corbett. Sure enough, Havant equalised (http://img413.imageshack.us/my.php?image=playoff1vi1.png) giving us the opportunity to settle it at home.
Brian Ryan started us off 4 minutes in, off the post in a goalmouth scramble. Right back Darren Rowell earned a warning for his poor tackling, but didn’t seem to care as he was booked mere minutes later. We held till the 74th, when Rowell did it again. I should have taken him off, but thought after his yellow, and then another warning, he would see sense. He didn’t, and his two yellows meant we had to see out the remaining 20 to 50 minutes with 10 men. My opinion that the team didn’t want to win was confirmed 5 minutes from time. Paul King, from hero to villain, headed in the own goal that destroyed all of our hard work. Extra time started rosily, loanee striker Marlon Jackson sent us 2-1 (4-3) up. But we let Sam Higgins through to level and I dreaded penalties.
The reason: my keeper was my best penalty taker. But he scored, the 1-0 lead neutralised by Higgins again. Left-back Paul White scored his, while Havant left-back Tom Pugh, on loan from Millwall, scooped his over the bar. AMC Gavin Kennedy hit the bar with his, meaning Havant could equalise. Ben Smyth saved, preserving our lead, and when George Davis scored his, the pressure on Havant’s Philip Appiah was immense. But Smyth saved (http://img340.imageshack.us/my.php?image=playoff2sf5.png), and Mangotsfield were going to Broadhall Way! Our opponents: Dorchester.
It was a terrible foul, that made me cry out for a red card. Andy Garrett agreed, and gave us a man advantage. But it was the reward from the free kick that I liked more, Ryan launching it into the top left corner to give us a 1 goal, 1 man advantage as we entered the break. Both teams were rather evenly matched in the second half, and at 75 minutes, I took off the frankly impotent (don’t tell his wife!) loanee Marlon Jackson, in exchange for Malcolm Christie, who would be making his last appearance for us. With 5 minutes to go, the teams were still locked into a stalemate, Mangotsfield hanging on by our slim advantage. Then disaster!
6 minutes of added time, would we make it? Sean Morrison hurriedly cleared a Dorchester attack, but Dorchester brought it back, and Jon Docker took a long shot. Wide! Minutes later, Bridge’s cross bounced off Morrison to give Docker another chance. I could see Ben Smyth launching himself off of his feet to dive across goal. Tipped wide for a Dorchester corner - and we were minutes away from promotion. But first we had to deal with this threat. Defensive Midfielder Kevin Roberts, subbed on for the disgraced Paul King made the clearance behind the goal. I and the fans counted down the last 30 seconds, the pressure was on Dorchester. We were counting to the minuses as Dorchester took the corner. Iain Sinclair, Scottish right winger and hot prospect, headed the clearance. Dorchester’s James Cumming got there first, but couldn’t cross it again, meaning we had won promotion (http://img524.imageshack.us/my.php?image=playoff3xg7.png) to the Blue Square Premier, after 5 long years!

Bedford Town - Season 10/11

Bedford Town was aiming for promotion this season, so manager Holiday Nybekk decided it was time to do major changes to the squad. He simply showed little faith in his squad. According to Nybekk, the squads major weakness was lack of backup-players that could step in when needed.

This were the players that left and come to the club during this season (http://img212.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bedfordtowntransfershisdi2.png).

The changes in the squad saw the team going almost unbeaten through the whole season, winning the title (http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/9062/bluesquaresouthstagesqu2.png)

Even though securing the title and promotion, the fans are worried about the inconsistency of the clubs young squad. (http://img367.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bedfordtownbedfordplayegg9.png) Having a young squad to build for the future, is well and good but how will the squad with an average age of 19 manage the pressure in the clubs first season in the Premier?

Despite the question marks, the fans were happy to see that their Faroe Island GK made his first international callup (http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/5514/holidaynybekkinboxdt8.png). They were also happy with the new boy Scott Bibby, who they voted Bedford Towns Player Of The Year (http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/6503/scottbibbyprofilebs3.png)

Bedford Town - Season 11/12

The morale was high amongst the squad after securing the league title last season and everyone was looking forward to the new challenge of playing in the Premier. The fans were excited but also worried. What will happen? Will the youngsters be able to cope with the pressure? Will Nybekk bring in some new players, perhaps with some experience from higher level of football, and preferrably a bit older players?

It didnt take long before the fans could see that Nybekk was going to change the squad around. No suprise really that Mark Lowe left the club in the beginning of June, but just three days later they saw that their favourite Scott Bibby left for Hucknall. Shocker!! What on earth is going on, was the main question that the fans at Town Square asked themselves.

When the transfer window opened in July, the shock was even bigger - Darren McDonald left for Nuneaton for £50K and the fans were starting to get upset. Selling two of the squads best players had to be met by some excellent signings to make them happy again.
But no. The clear out by Nybekk continued, seeing 9 more players leaving the team before closure of the transfer window. All though the club brought in a total of £125K by selling these 12 players, nobody could see how the club was to benefit from this.
No signifigant players was brought in - Nybekk continued to bring in young players with little or no experience at all. 14 players were brought in, but no particular player stood out as a saviour. Rebuilding the whole defence in front of the first season of Premier footie, did not seem like a good idea.

And the fans were right: The season did start well, with two wins and a draw - but with a goaldifference of 9 - 6. And the season just continued that way. There were lots of high-scoring games, but the defence just couldnt settle, resulting in many a game lost out despite scoring 3 or even 4 goals.

The teams dissapointing league form was forgotten for at least 90 minutes on 12th of November when Bedford was lining up for the FA Cup 1st round at home against Rotherham. The match was allmost a sellout, 2931 came to see the this match. And what a thriller it was to be!
The home crowds hope of a sensation was killed of after 17 minutes, Rotherham scoring their second of the game. But after 31 minutes, Lee Watts, the leftwinger for the night reduced to 1-2. The game went back and fourth to the break, leaving the fans with a small hope of snatching a draw.
But three minutes after the break Rotherham went up to 3-1 and the game seemed to be killed yet again. But Shawn Moore and Josh Wright wanted differently. Just two minutes after the 3-1 goal Shawn went up on a corner and netted the 3-2 goal!! Hope back again..
21 minutes later, in the 71st minute Josh Wright showed yet again how to place a ball in the net. Yet another corner, this time the ball was played outside the box and back in to an unmarked Wright on the left side of the box who cooly placed it in the right hand corner of the goal.. 3-3!!!!!
Will the sensation happen???
8 minutes later, in the 79th minute, everyone thought that Bedford were to make it. A counter attack where the ball was played long to Wright on the left side. He hold the ball for a second, then passed it into the middle. The players regrouped and the ball was played to Watts who was going forward into the middle. Just 25 metres from the goal, he spots the excellent run of Shinn and play a exceptional through ball towards him. Shinn manages to go around the Rotherham goalie and has an open net from 4 metres.... But he misses!!!!! The record crowd cannot believe it - how on earth was it possible??????
Then 2 minutes later, Rotherham goes forward and scores the vital 4-3 goal.
But what a game of Bedford. Playing fine football against a team from League Two, should bring some much needed morale boost to the squad.

Unfortunately the teams bad league form continued. Bedford just couldnt seem to get the matches going in their favour. The fans started to question Nybekks choice of players, both the transfers and the team pick. Even his 4-4-2 was now under critism. "Whats the use of having some of the best youngsters around, when you cant get them to play as a unit", was the question one fan asked on a radio phone-in.
Even though relegation didnt seem to be close, the fans started to worry. 10 matches left and 15 points over the relegation zone, seemed to be secure but would it be enough in the end?
Things started to go against Bedford at this time. 4 key players got injured with only 8 matches to go, amongst them 3 strikers. Bedford went on a loosing streak at the same time as the main contenders Bishop's Stortford and Ebbsfleet started to win.

With only one match to go it was clear: Bedford had to win the last match against Rochdale, second in the league to avoid relegation.
The standing before last match of season:

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">
Ebbsfleet: -25 47p
------------------------
Bedford: -18 45p
Bishops Stortford: -25 44p
</pre>

Things had clearly gone wrong, and up against the second best team in the league it seemed that relegation already was a factor. The 15 points had been eaten up and the team it self was to blame.

The fans decided to do what ever they could to help the team this day. 1970 persons met up despite the rain and the strong wind. Raincoats and umbrellas were seen on almost everybody this day when all the angels in the skies were crying.

Due to an agreement with the managment, the club decided not to report result from the two other matches, in hope that this would help the players focus on their own game.
Nybekk decided to go back to a basic 4-4-2 with long and direct play this day. The pitch was heavily wet and nice short passing play was not to be played.
The players went out on the pitch, and everyone could clearly see that the importance of the match had gone to their mind.

Despite the nervousness, Bedford managed to hold off pressure from Rochdale the first 20 minutes. The team managed to keep the ball within the team and got a couple of decent chances.
High pressure payed off after 22 minutes, when Rochdales left back was heavily closed down and forced to pass back to their GK. Unfortunately for him, Josh Wright spotted the action and made a run for it, beating the goalie to the ball - 1-0 Bedford!!!!!
Inspired by this goal, Bedford continued to press high, and 4 minutes later the unthinkable happens: Whitehead gets the ball in the middle of the park, plays a long ball to the left behind the defence, where Jacobsen comes on a fine run from behind and places the ball with confidence behind the goalie. 2-0 Bedford!!!!
Six minutes later, Pawel Kazmiercak gets his head on a ball from the corner and makes it 3-0! 3 goals in 10 minutes now, and Bedford eyes the possibility to avoid relegation.

An uneventful 2nd half, with a brilliant defensive display by Bedford, sees them run out 3-0 winners in this crucial match.
But how had the other matches ended? Will Bedford survive?
A big roar through the crowd can be heard just seconds after the whistle: Ebbsfleet lost and relegation was avoided!!

Bedford Town squad at end of season (http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/4919/bedfordtownbedfordplayegr0.png)

Even though the defenders didnt mark the game in defence, they certainly did in attack (http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/706/holidaynybekkinbox2ta3.png)

The club has so far had a lot of transfers in an out, but still the fans have managed to put together a Best XI team for the first seasons (http://img508.imageshack.us/img508/4120/bedfordtownhistorybesteyi8.png)

One of the players that keep improving is the clubs Faroe Islandic goalie. Even though his game might not have been the best, Nielsen keeps improving in all areas (http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/8229/brurnielsenprofilena2.png)

Nielsen might be the one that impresses at the training ground, Gavin Dill was the one who impressed on match days (http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/4986/gavindillprofilefr5.png)

He might not be the clubs best player this season, but Nybekk still seems to prefer him to others. It might be his ability to score vital goals that keeps him in the team, or is it just because the clubs board loves him so much that Josh Wright is being fielded? (http://img212.imageshack.us/img212/3990/joshwrightprofileut9.png). His career so far, shows that he definately has potential (http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/4069/joshwrighthistorycareerpe8.png), but he lacks consistency.

Other things to notice, is that the finances is getting better (http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/5060/bedfordtownfinancessummdr0.png), thanks to transfer revenue, higher crowds and a tight control over the wage budget.

All in all, Bedford Town is a relatively healthy club (http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/1408/bedfordtowninformationox1.png), with a young squad and a determined manager.

In an interview with the EagleZight, manager Nybekk said "We had a bit unluck with injuries this season, and players not beeing stable enough. This paired with me not able to get the right tactics this season, made us struggle more than neccessary. But I think that if we change our training routines a little bit, keep on working hard and gets a couple of players with experience, we will be able to establish ourselves in the Premier".

"The future at Bedford is bright", as one fan nicely put it after the final whistle against Rochdale.

The closest challenge team to me is Fleetwood (~10 miles from me), who've actually just been promoted to the BSN in my game.

After a bit of Googling it appears my local team are in Level 10 (Challenge teams are Level 7), and looking like they may gain promotion to Level 9, they have actually made it to Wembley this season getting to the final of the FA Vase in their first season in it, they'll also be changing their name to AFC Fylde from next season (due to them not actually being based in Kirkham any longer - from what I can tell they are actualy just down the road from me - well ~3 miles down a long country road, considering their ground isn't on Google Maps).

So that's my team picked out for FM2012 http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

(Is it wrong that it's taken this challenge for me to find out anything about my local team?)

Bedford update 1st of September 2012

With last seasons bad defensive record in mind, the Eagles fans demanded to see some strengthening in the squad. They were therefore extremely suprised when Mr Nybekk decided to smash the club's transfer record by bying midfielder Jonathan Hogg (http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/6204/jonathonhoggprofilehl5.png) from BSN team Witton for a whopping £65K. On question from EagleZight the manager replied "Its important for us to have someone that can help out the defence by tracking down potential passers, so that the centrebacks can concentrate on their marking duties rather than worrying about the action in front of them".
In addition to this, veteran
Chris Coyne (http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/5682/chriscoyneprofilemy8.png) was brought in. "Chris might not be a pacey defender, but he certainly reads the play well and will be great to have against players that migth be skilful but not so fast. He will hopefully also bring his experience out on the training ground and inspire our youngsters to improve even more", said Nybekk at a press conference.

The fans also saw Lee Watts, the promising left winger, and Tom Hughes the midfield anchor leaving the club for a fresh challenge at St Albans.

After the promised change of training and tactics, the fans was eager to see if this would help the team forward - especially with the lack of new signings. After the first six matches, the fans are cautious optimistic. 2 won, 2 drawn and 2 lost matches is ok. The fans was especially happy about the 4-0 win away to Lewes. Some might even have earned a few quid too, with Bedford having odds 5-1 to win.

Tiverton - BSS - End of Season 1 (08/09)

Season Summary

Won the league, it was closer than I expected though. Got off to a good start (see earlier posts) but then somewhat stuttered my way through being pushed all the way by Basingstoke. Probably fortunate that they seemed to falter towards the end also. Tension mounted as I drew with them away in my penultimate game, meaning that I just had to better or match their final result to win the league. I won against 4th placed Dorchester and they lost, so happy days!

Players

My season was greatly helped by using all my allocations on loanees, all from my parent club Argyle (same players have come back for this season)

Mighty Mackie! (http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm93/JJMonkey79/MightyMackie08-09.jpg)

Watts a player! (http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm93/JJMonkey79/Wattsaplayer08-09.jpg)

All other signings were freebies. In all a massive 33 players and another 10 on loan.
To my surprise in January I started getting a lot of bids for players and so set about whittling my squad down. 11 players were sold for an impressive 155k!

A few new signings made all freebies as usual. Mighty Mackie and Watts are back on loan, along with other familiar Argyle faces. Expected to battle bravely against relegation (just like last year), obviously hoping to make it back to back promotions, but time will tell.

Really disappointed to find that my transfer budget is still £0 even though I have now saved and sold my way to a nice 450k in the bank (i have money from sales to spend before it processed the end of season, but choose not to, up to 70% of transfer revenue made available to me now). To be honest though there doesn't seem many players around worth spending money on.

Pre-season has been steady, one friendly away from seeing if the boys can step up to the plate!!

Marine - League One 2018/19

So with last seasons disappointing/shock relegation to League One, my plan was to bounce straight back this season, well depending on how many players I had left come the close of the Transfer Window.

A nice feature is the fact that we got a £500K parachute payment (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/8834/parachutepaymentkg3.jpg) for getting relegated from the Championship, then my link with Liverpool got cancelled as apparently we are too rich (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/7050/linkcancelledgc8.jpg) (not sure why that means we don't want money or free loanees from Liverpool? I could understand if it was a first option Parent). Attempts to obtain a new parent team and a new feeder club still fail - even Tonbridge are too good for us http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

The board were only wanting me to finish midtable this season in League One (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/7514/l1expectationsaq1.jpg) they even gave me £5m to it with(however they wanted me to be established Championship side by the end of the season aswell (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/7591/compconfidenceyo2.jpg)), they also wanted a semi-final place in the Paint Trophy (becasue that was ever going to happen - we'd only made it out of the First Round three times in 5 seasons - going out in the Quarters Twice and Second Round once).

Then the exodus started (we hadn't even got to the season update yet) San Marino midfielder Bruno Capicchioni threatened to quit (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/4189/unhappyplayergv4.jpg) the club after the mighty Bolton made a crappy offer for him, he eventually went to Reggina for £1m plus 50% of his next sale.

Then my Captain Ivan Tsankov (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/5844/ivantsankovtc1.jpg) decided to retire at the age of 34, and despite saying he wanted to stay in the game he didn't - he'd been with me since the first season and had clocked up 279 League appearances for Marine (302 in total according to overall best XI, only behind my Keeper Woods in appearances.)

I also lost my vice-captain James Harris on a free to Wigan (still not sure why I didn't get any compensation for him?)

Transfer Screen (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/2182/transferssd8.jpg)

Other unhappy players who were sold included Romanian Keeper Radu to Leyton Orient for £500K, centre-back Dawes to Bournemouth (£500K), Scottish midfielder Any Knox to Coventry (£350K) after he started moaning the day he came back from onloan, Irish Striker Richard Duxberry went to Hull for £1m - it was too good to turn down, he was becoming unhappy and was unlikely to play ahead of Naylor or Spevak, in the Winter Window right winger van den Berg, decided he disliked some of my players and found himself sold to Exeter for £100K, whilst Luxembourg Striker Wilhelm decided he disliked Naylor and went to Derby for £130K, and my Austrian Midfielder Gernot Madl became unhappy and went to France for £1m.

Other sales included some of my academy players for a couple of grand, a Spanish midfielder who'd failed to develop and my two backup right backs after I'd received offers in excess of £500K that were too good to turn down (they have both been sold on next season already, netting me another ~£500K between them http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif), of course this left me with only O'Connor at right back so I loaned a youngster from Spurs, I also loaned a promising English Striker from Fulham, my only real signing of the season was Lativan midfielder Jevgenijs Recickis (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/452/recickisun9.jpg) from Dinaburg for £16K to fill some of the holes left in my team, the rest of my signings were all promising youngsters - including half a dozen Liechtenstein youngsters, who appeared on my player search screen and appear to be highly rated by my staff - is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the better players from the smaller nations seem to be generated free, rather than at a club? (Though I suppose this could be more to do with the fact that I search for freebies, and players at clubs don't tend to want to sign for me).

An interesting thing I noticed is that the board at some point randomly decided I could no longer scout Europe, but if an assignment in Europe was still on the Scouts screen I could restart it, I just couldn't newly assign them to the location.

We started off well in the League, though a bad spell in October with defeats against Walsall and early pace setters Sheff Wed, followed by a couple of draws saw us drop away from the leaders, and by the time we had got back upto second Sheff Wed had carved out a 15pt lead and didn't look like losing it, and after a bad spell in January where we only managed 1 goal and 2 points in 5 games the league looked liked it would be Sheffield Wednesday's who were inspired by a certain Darryl Knights http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

My striker Naylor thought otherwise and smashed 5 goals past Bury (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/3808/buryjh0.jpg) (four in the first half), we then went to Sheffield and beat Wednesday 2-1 avenging our 2-1 defeat to them earlier in the season. Our victory over Sheff Wed came in a bad patch for them, they'd drawn the previous two games and lost the next two.

Then rather bizarely our end fixtures were nearly identical - if you take out my last two games, we'd both play in the same order, with exactly the same home and away ties: Swansea, York, Northampton, QPR, Burnley, Norwich, Millwall, Bradford, Exeter and Carlisle, - the only difference being that we played Burnley and Norwich the other way around, - how weird and random is that???

With five games to go we had narrowed Wednesday's lead to five points, though they extended their lead to 7 points with a 4-2 win over Norwich whilst we could only draw 1-1 to Bradford, then we started to reel them in, a 3-1 win against bottom club Exeter closed the gap to five points after Wed could only draw 1-1 to Millwall, Wednesday hadn't given up yet as next they fought back from 2-0 down against Bradford to claim a 2-2 draw, whilst we needed a late goal from Left Winger Kekic to beat Carlisle 3-2 after we'd thrown a 2 goal lead away.

This left us three points behind Wednesday with two games to go, our vastly superior Goal Difference was looking rather nice about now, then already relegated Exeter blew the title race open with a 1-0 away win against Wednesday, whilst we entertained Cardiff in one of the more bizare games I've been part of (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/5042/cardiffdh6.jpg) - Left Winger Kekic opened the scoring in the Second minute, only for Cardiff to equalise in the fifth minute, we then carved open Cardiff for the rest of the half, and somehow found ourselves going in at half-time 5-1 up, the second half was even more crazy Cardiff quickly pulled two goals back, Czech Striker Spevak then put the game out of Cardiff's reach, though they did add another, before my young English Midfielder Paul Franks (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/8693/franksjj4.jpg) made it 7-4(!) with the 1000th goal of my managerial career, youngster Franks had actually came out of nowhere, he'd only been playing the last few games due to injuries, he found one way of claiming a first team place.

So with one game left we were finally back on top of the league thanks to Goal Difference - all we needed to do was match Wednesday's result and we'd be champions.

For a change our final game of the season was a walk in the park - Naylor grabbed yet another hat-trick this season, with my Keeper grabbing an assist, as we destroyed Doncaster 4-0 (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/9843/finalgamejk3.jpg), to make up for them knocking us out of the FA Cup in the Second Round. In the end it didn't matter as Wednesday could only draw to Carlisle.

So we'd be back in the Championship next season and as champions, the board were pleased and happy that I won the league in our 125th year in Football (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/1198/125yearby5.jpg) (they could have mentioned something earlier in the season), contract wise they'd actually given me a new contract a week before (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/7450/newcontracttj2.jpg), when we'd claimed promotion - though with me being linked to the Chelsea and Spurs jobs among others (Spurs were actually the Premiership Holders, but finished midtable this season) they may have been a bit worried that I'd be poached for nothing. Not sure what would have happened if I didn't win promotion?

Of course our title winning form could have been due to the high league bonus (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/4467/bonusqy3.jpg) I gave them - it kept the players that stayed on superb morale all season, though it was a rather low £90K, which actually meant I made some profit from our position bonus for the first time.

Final Table (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/2156/tablesc6.jpg) and POS graph (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/7527/posss1.jpg) - Found out why Wednesday collapsed they relied upon loan players who didn't stay for the whole season, including one of my young left backs - that could have been embrassing if he won them the league.

Squad (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/4042/squadfi5.jpg) - Squad depth was provided by some of my promising youngster this season, lets hope a winning season in League One has prepared them for the Championship. With most of my team on form this season, special mention goes to my Wingers Kekic and Straka, and Czech Striker Spevak who has never moaned about being backup to my star Striker Danny Naylor (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/9748/naylortr1.jpg) who was in fantastic form this season breaking Marine records (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/2244/recordsfu5.jpg) as he went - he becomes the first person to score 30 league goals in a season for Marine, scores a record 5 in one game, breaks his own Man of the Match records with 12, and becomes the clubs all-time Top League Goal Scorer with 119 goals, and becomes only the second player behind Ameobi to score 100 goals for the club, and with his new contract becomes the first player to earn over £10K a week - now will he become my first full Home International? (My Czech Winger Straka is my only real full international from a major country - the rest are capped by small nations).

Spanish Defensive Midfielder Alfredo Perez Gomez (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/2570/perezgomezpl2.jpg) also had a fine season and is maturing well.

Overall Best XI (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/4898/bestxioverallfx5.jpg) - Ofori comes in for Law at Centre-back, Seasonal Best XI (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/9766/bestxiseasonoy0.jpg) is about right apart from centre-backs being switched around, I wonder if my overall best XI formation will ever change?

Club Infomation (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/7029/clubinfoer7.jpg) - Spevak joins the favoured personnel, we are valued at £24m and apparently have among the best facilities in the world/league but still yet to gain a Youth Academy, whilst our Regional Reputation could be a problem, I'm hoping it's towards the top end of Regional as keeping hold of players is getting very difficult.

Snapshot (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/4825/snapshotfi9.jpg) - The Carling Cup saw us beat Wednesday 2-0, before going out in the Second Round for the Fourth year in a row this time to an offside goal from Hull. The Paint Trophy saw us fall to Rochdale at the first hurdle. In the FA Cup we needed a replay to beat BSP Rivals Southport, before we crashed 3-1 to Doncater in the Second Round.

Manager Profile (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/6383/profilesg4.jpg) - Winning League One seems to have given me Continental reputation, meaning my reputation is now two levels above the clubs (seems weird that the rest of Europe would know about a League One winning manager?), also doubled my wage to £4.8K a week and fav formation is back to 4-1-4-1 (or 4-3-3 is it should be known!) I also managed to pick up manager of the year award. (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/8454/manageroftheyearnb7.jpg)

The bad news is that my chairman took £2.1m of the money I made in dividends (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/9422/dividendyt6.jpg) http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Lets hope I never see League One ever again...

Prescot Cables 08/09 Season

Well my first season i achieved more than expected (avoid relegation) but i must admit i am a little dissapointed we missed the playoffs eventually finishing 8th. Alot of positives came from the season though especially the perfermances of my three youngest players signed on free transfers. Hopefully we can strengthen if the right areas and hopefully this time next year we will be in the BSP

AFC Hornchurch - 11/12 - League Two

A second season passes by in League Two and despite upping the wages from 7k per week to 11k exactly the same amount of points were collected as in the previous season. The two bright points of the season were Kevin Rodgers (http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/90/1112kevinrodgersos4.jpg) signing a new five year deal and the goals of Josh Ward (http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/276/1112joshwardendtk1.jpg).

The board still refuse to upgrade the stadium so i'm playing to sell out crowds of 3000 every week, they did expand the youth facilities though so maybe i'll get my first decent youth player soon.

Next seasons aim is to hopefully move into mid table obscurity but thats looking unlikely with the crap thats available to sign. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
