bit unfair when teams like Hednesford and Wimbledon have been in the league above and people are using them but never mind just thought i would ask http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Yeh, but it's about taking a previously unplayable club and Farsley are playable from the start tbf.

I thought AFC Wimbledon was completely different from the old Wimbledon? As the old Wimbledon became MK Dons. So AFC had to start at the foot of the football league? Or have I got very confused?

AFC Wimbledon are a completely new side, the old Wimbledon side are MK Dons. AFC were founded in 2002 so yeah, they started the bottom of the football league.

A sad say for Witton.

It's early in the season and we've got 6 out of 9 points. But all was not well.
Helio my star young midfielder was wanting trophys. I kept telling him so did I, and that used to keep him happy. Then he just went completely the other way and asked to be put on the transfer list instead. I said no but he was already unsettled.

The Vasco managed flew all the way across to watch him play and put in a bid. It was only about 1 mil so I upped it to 5 thinking they'd drop out. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif They didn't, and neither did a host of other clubs. My Chairman accepted the 5 mil, which makes sense really our record transfer before was 150k, and now he's gone.

On the up side the club should be secure for years to come, bar catastrophe, with a balance of just under £7 million and attendences just shy of full.
And with my budget of around 3 million I can invest in some youth and maybe get the facillities upgraded. So not all bad.

Still, I'm going to miss Helio.

Tiverton Town - League 2 11/12 - Season review

Pre Season hopes of a mid table finish seemed to be a little hopeful early on for Tivvy. A good 3-1 win at home to Chester on the opening day was followed by a run of 6 league games without a win, leaving us sitting just above the relegation places. A little tinkering with the tactics and it wasnt long before our form picked up allthough it was still not consitent.

The turning point in the season came late in November, with run of 5 games in which we came in at the break 2 goals down. By some miracle we didn't lose a single one, winning 4 and drawing 1. From that point on we looked a totaly different side and a match for any team in the division. The wins started to come and it wasn't long before we began to climb and before long closed in on the playoff places. Some luck with the fixtures which saw us play our final 8 games against bottom half opposition, while the other teams battling for places were taking points off each other saw us sneak into 4th. At one point it seemed an automatic promotion place was in reach but a bad result on the final day going down 2-0 to Mansfield at home ended that.

The Playoff Semi saw us drawn against Peterborough, probably the strongest team of the 4 involved. Slightly concerned at the ease in which they had beaten us twice during the regular season and missing leading scorer Jack Brierley through injury Tivvy set up with a cautios 4-2-1-2-1 counter attacking formation. It worked like a dream and a 4-1 (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/34.jpg) lead was in place for the return leg at home. We probably did enough for at least a draw in the 2nd leg in front of a record crowd of 3491 but Peterborough nicked it 3-2. All in all though a decent result against a strong team.

So on we went our first ever trip to Wembley to face Chesterfield in the final. Slightly dissapointing to only see a crowd of 27,000 for the final but our first ever final who could complain.

Returning from injury Brierley was only given a place on the bench and Coppinger was again employed as a lone striker. The managers faith was repayed after only 9 mins as he took the ball from in his own half before rounding the keeper and slotting it home. We were looking comfortable for the rest of the half and going in with the 1-0 lead at the break I was starting to believe we could pull it off. My decision to come out for the 2nd half with a slightly more attacking formation to push for that decisive 2nd goal probably was to blame for Chesterfields early 2nd half equaliser but we were still looking the more likely to score. However it wasnt to be as I sat and watched chance after chance go begging I could tell there was going to be a sting in the tail. The 90 mins passed along with extra time and the match was to be decided from the penalty spot. After watching Kizzy hit the bar in the 120th min and then Brierley drive the rebound wide with the keeper nowhere to be seen I knew it wasn't our day as was proved with the fact we missed every one of our penalty's losing the shootout 3-0.

It would have been a long difficult season in League 1 and with the squad as it is now I think it would have meant certain relegation. So it may work out for the best in the long term.

In our first ever League Cup game we drew Championship side Watford at home and managed to destroy them 4-0 in a game we totaly dominated. That was to be as far as we got though and a home defeat 3-1 to Premiership Cardiff ended the dream for another year.

Dissapointing run in the JPT saw us needing a penalty shootout to get past Hereford in the first round, then soundly beaten 5-2 by Yeovil in the 2nd round.

Our most pleasing cup run was again in the FA cup. With wins over Hendesford, Oxford (after replay) and Leyton Orient, we were given a 4th round tie away to Premiership Birmingham. My only aim was to keep it respectable and we more than achieved that in a 3-2 (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/36.jpg) defeat which could have gone our way on a different day.

Table (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/37.jpg)
Graph (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/38.jpg)
Squad (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/40.jpg)

New signing Harris (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/39.jpg) was probably the best player but overall it was difficult to single anybody out. We finally have a good CB pairing in Gill (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/41.jpg) and Chopper (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/42.jpg) one having great pace and the other being dominant in the air. Choppers 4 red cards and 10 yellow (4 reds before Christmas) is slightly concerning especially since he seems to like the day off for big games too.

So a good season we can hopefully build on. I think a push for promotion in the coming season would see us in better shape for survival in League 1 the following year. The only additions to the squad this close season will be my continued search for that perfect striker, other than that it will be as you were.

Yeah just players with british citezenship. Is going to get tough though in the Championship and above (if I make it that far) so I may cave in and sign a few later on. Would be nice to get a premiership winning side with nothing but English players though.

Sunu is still firing them in for fun, for me in the Championship! Had a terrifying moment in League One where he wouldn't negotiate a new contract, he ended up with just 10 days left on his deal before he'd discuss terms with me! he's tied down 'till 2019 now though http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I had a few enquiries for him from Championship and Premiership club while i'm languishing near the bottom of the Championship so i've put a £6m price tag on him hopefully to thwart offers untill I can reach the Prem.

Well done on getting him to sign long term. That you got him for £65k is sickening and you'd surely have to consider any offer over £3-4m. Assuming you still have a fairly small stadium etc.

My finances aren't too bad, the season just gone saw me lose my superstar Goalkeeper who I signed for free at the start of the BSS season, he went to Newcastle for 3.5m plus incentives, and I lost my other star striker the year before for nearly 2m.

Thanks to my board, I havent seen a penny of those transfer fee's in my own transfer budget http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

And yep, attendences suck, getting a full house every week at 5,000 but the board say they cant afford to expand http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Wow, I wish I knew where to find money makers like that. The money must've gone somewhere. The only thing my board are willing to do is improve youth facilities.

With a horrible cup run this year and bonuses to be paid out if we win League Two, I'm going to be nearly back to £0 unless I sell some players. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

How much cash do you need in the bank for the board to do that?

At the moment I have minimal youth facilities - how much will it cost to upgrade to whatever the next level is?

Also my training facilities are listed as fairly basic - anyone know how much the next upgrade here will cost?

I'm on same level, they said yes to youth upgrade when I had £750k and had just gone to League Two. They still wouldn't improve training facilities so I'm guessing it's higher than this or board dependant.

They won't actually improve the youth facilities until season is over I think.

Thanks for that. I guess no improvements for me then http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Am in first season in league 2 but only have £450K and similar to yourself I have (for the first time) had dreadfull luck in the cups this season so no prize / gate money coming in. I am making a little bit each month for the first season but with league bonuses to pay at the end of the season and the number of players who have yearly wage increases in their contracts I cannot see myself improving things for a very long time http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I haven't bothered doing an update for awhile but i'm playing this game more or less constantly untill I go back to uni! currently in the Championship and about to start the 2017/2018 season, i'll catch up and post screenshots of all previous seasons when I can be bothered, I have them all saved.

Anyway, just got some huge and unexpected news! I had £2m in the bank as I hit 'continue' on the 17th of june. When the 18th came around, my board made the shock announcement that they are spending £16.25m on a brand new 19,000 seater stadium! It won't be completed untill 2019 but i'm absolutely delighted http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think, but I wouldn't quote me on this, that I've had upgrades done at the start of the season, so I've not had to wait till the end. I just got a fair bit of of cash so I asked about youth facilities, about 6 games in, and they agreed to do it. Whether they finish it soon, or at the end of the season I don't know.

I was on the lowest level for both. The board wouldn't do anything till I had a balance of about 1.5 mil. It only appeared to cost about 200k though (each). I think it might depend on how your board approach things.

Ooof! Thats a big loan. My board took a 6 mil one out for our stadium.
I would't worry about the repayments too much. Once you have the stadium so long as you get attendences of about 12,000 + I reckon you'll be able to pay things just fine.

PROMOTION!!!!

Table (at time of promotion) (http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/3209/promotionfg2.jpg)

Wanted to keep playing tonight (it's 3:45am) until I won promotion. Got frustrating near the end having won only 1 of the past 5 games but we're there and with many games to go.

With this I really should give some games to players I want to sell or youngsters but I'm tempted to keep Sunu in and see just how many he can get.

He's scored 52 (16 assists and 15 MoM) through 39 league games with 6 hatricks (3x 3goals and 3 x 4goals) http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Lost about £200k so far this season, bonuses still to come, not looking foward to the wage cuts I'll need to make.

Lost about £200k so far this season, bonuses still to come, not looking foward to the wage cuts I'll need to make.

congrats http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

The mighty Matlock Town was my choice. Other options included Merthyr Tydfil and Marine (can't remember the other one). Chose Matlock because I like the colours and I've been there. Once http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Started the season telling the board I'd be there to 'consolidate' in my first season. They seemed happy anough, giving me a substantial transfer budget of £0.0m. Excellent.

First things first - ask the board for a feeder club. 1 week later Derby, Forest and Burton Albion come back with offers. Derby, being a Pemier League club (still) were the obvious choice.

In came Lee Holmes and Mitchell Hanson on loan, before I even knew it. Both players 10 x better than anything else in the squad (mainly made up of released players from low league clubs - plus Zavon Hines, unnatached formerly of West Ham and very very sharp if stats are anuthing to go by). Robert Ujcik also came from Derby on loan, to partner Hines up-front; a pairing that could prove deadly given time.

Other noteable transfers included Sam Wedgbury - a promising centre midfield player, Andrew Telford - a more than competent GK and Chris Saunders - a burly powerhouse at the back.

Mick Radford was appointed assistant manager and David Flitcroft (http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif) a coach.

Games updates to follow mid season. Watch this space.

Oh and dafuge - best idea ever, this http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

Anyway, just got some huge and unexpected news! I had £2m in the bank as I hit 'continue' on the 17th of june. Season 2012/2013

AFC Wimbledon

First Season in the English Championship ended with a 15th places finish! Despite the achievement of avoiding relegation which was my start of season target - i am dissapointed as i occupied 4th-10th for most of the season. A dissapointing run in the final 8 games cost me as i finished 8 points off the final play-off place.
This season i aiming for promotion. I have put my financial difficulties behind me and sold many players who were previously conisdered as key members of my squad. This brings a new era to the club as i have introduced new faces, with both skill full youth players and also experienced internationals joining. I hope this will bring success and bring the club to the english preimership!!

well after my decision to stop my chippenham game and start a new one, a half season at the bottom again as hendon saw me head straight back to my chippenham game, just didnt have the love of the club or players that i have developed with my other game so i am back with them, form continues to be dissapointing but have turned it round a little in the last 2 games recording 2 wins in the league and a win in the FA cup 4th round, hopefully i will be able to just enough to stay up and give the premiership yet another go.
full season update shortly when i get to the end in the next hour or so.

also a quick question, i have noticed in peoples screenshots differnt backrounds etc how and where do i get such a thing.

Swindon Supermarine, who start with a rep of just 450, the lowest in any of the 3 feeder leagues, finally got promoted to the Blue Square South after over 30 seasons http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

So if anyone wants to play as one of the really small clubs, it might be possible, but it'll take a long time. By then the football world could be very different.

Hitchin Town end of season 09/10

What started as a pretty average season turned into an almost disastrous one with some terrible form (http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/9905/hitchintownhitchinfixtulg9.png) in the second half, the need to strengthen the defence and midfield in all positions for next season is obvious. In the end Hitchin only stayed up because of goal difference, Macclesfield almost overtaking in the end.

AFC Wimbledon 2011/12 League Two Season Summary

First league win!!!

Table (http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/2293/tableyg0.jpg)
Graph (http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/8733/graphab2.jpg)

Only slightly threatened by arch rivals MK Dons, a horrible cup run allowed for a less hectic schedule and less injuries.

Squad (http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/9972/squaddh6.jpg)

Loanee Currie was sent from parent club and Howe was used as back-up for injury prone Sullivan.
Simpson and Sunu were first choice up front for much of the season, especially Sunu who played all games bar the last one after getting injured in penultimate game.

Sunu (http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/2068/sunurv4.jpg)
A total of 61 goals, 19 assists and 18 MoM's in 45 league games and a 7.98 ave.

Hall (http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/5263/hallpq7.jpg)
Hall continues to dominate the left wing, having now played 194 games in total for the club. 14 assists at and average of 7.55 through his 40 games, an outstanding performance.

Transfers (http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/2701/transfersah9.jpg)

Confidence Summary (http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/4435/confidencedv2.jpg)

Finances (http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/3063/financepv7.jpg)
Finances are the biggest current concern due to slowly leaking money throughout the season. Selling players is nearly becoming a necessity, however, only Hall is getting sizeable bids (£250k)and I have no intention of letting him go.

Current Profile (http://img261.imageshack.us/img261/5587/profilefe1.jpg)
Now known Nationally which should hopefully help with recruitment.

Need to get rid of back-up/squad players to clear some wage room. Looking for a solid League One season and will focus on cups in the next season if it doesn't look like a relegation scrap.

I hope he does too but I'll expect him not to and if he does it's a bonus.

Cuurent wage budget and current wage total are both aroung the £25k/week mark. Average squad age is 21 so it's more about trimming the squad down than getting cheaper players.

Finally got in to FM, and decided to start with Guiseley, last year I played with them first before they got relegated.

First off I signed a whooping 29 players, spending 100% of my budget of 0. I set my pitch dimensions to minimum, but im not sure that was wise, as an attack is never far away. But Im doing ok so far, with 2 wins and a loss in the league. With only five players over 20 my average age is 19.

Sheffield Wednesday, who are offering £1900/w salary with £250k budget and £95k/w wages.
AFC Wimbledon offer £700/w wages with £90k budget and £46k wages.
Also, I'd be taking over from Graham Arnold, who until recently was the national (Australian) manager.
So it's tempting but I know I can't. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Tiverton - 1st season in Premier

Wow, that was tough! I resorted to 5 at the back for most of the season, trying to scrap out draws away and maybe clinch a sneaky 1-0 at home. By January, we were struggling in the league, sitting 19th. But we found some form, beating Man Utd 4-1 in the process and managed to avoid relegation finishing 16th.

We reached the League Cup Final after a quite easy run to Wembley. We had to face the mighty Gunners. And we were 1-0 up early on, but a controversial penalty that lead to me receiving a touchline ban after the match, and a well worked Arsenal goal meant we lost 2-1.

After the season, the club was able to clear all its debts and for a while we were 7th richest club in England. But the Board announced a new stadium was to be built, and our finances dropped to a lesser, but still secure 12 million.

Next season im actually quite optimistic about. Stevie Naismith and Balde coming in up top, and some strong defenders already on their way means our squad should be quite strong. But then again, compare the squad to Liverpools and i can see how exposed i can get. We'll have to wait and see

Not there myself yet (or anywhere near!) but have seen quite a few L1 teams beat Prem teams - have not looked to see what standard the Prem teams were though.

As judged by the results of the squad players from Blackburn, Everton and Bolton recently seems about right http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Going great so far, sitting 2nd after 13 games. Only 1 home defeat in the league a 5-4 thriller and I had a goal wrongly disallowed at 3-2 up. I went crashing out of the FA cup with a 5-1 home loss to non-league Burscough.

Playing through has reminded me of some players from last year, namely Luke Boden who I signed when I got to the premiership last time and he won player of the year and kept me up in only 20 games. Might try and sign him on loan when his current deal expires.

Boden (http://img146.imageshack.us/my.php?image=01122008180716hd2.jpg)

My top scorer is Dax Hoggerwerf, who since starting with 6 games without a goal has been banging them in. The fans at one point rated him as poor, but now hes up to revelation.

Tonbridge Angels - Season 1 - Blue Square South - 2010/11

We finished 14th after bringing in a whole squad, most of them being 19/20 years old.

Was only halfway through the season last night, ended up finishing the whole season http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Went on a terrible run, didn't win in ages, and looked like the challenge could be over right at the start if it carried on and got relegated.

Throughout the season switched between 4-4-2 and 4-4-1-1, and on our decent run (a lot of draws, a few victories) at the end of the season we played a more defensive 4-4-2, more direct, counter attack, into the channels.

It worked quite well and with so many teams around us on a similar amount of points we finished 14th.

10 games gone now, only 2 draws, 8 defeats.

Feels like there's nothing I can do with morale this low.

Tiverton Town - 12/13 League 2 - Season review

Our most pleasing season by a long way, everything seemed to click from the start. The only new arrival over the summer was 24 year old midfielder Scott Davies (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/46.jpg) released by Reading. There were several attempts to sign a new Striker but we seemed to be losing out every time to lower league teams with higher reputations.

The season started well for us with a surprising 4-1 win over a strong Motherwell team in our first friendly which gave me faith in my current squad. A year older and with last years experiance of a playoff final defeat we set off looking like we had a point to prove. Sticking with the 4-3-2-1 formation which had served us so well in the later stages of the previous campaign we hit the front running winning our first 11 league games.

After our storming start to the season form did drop slightly but one strenghs of the current squad is the determination. Never knowing when we are beaten time and time again we came from behind to snatch points in the closing stages. It seemed every time I resigned myself to accepting our first league defeat of the season someone would stand up and drag the team forward. There was no superstar player or anybody carrying the team on their own we were finding match winners from all over the park. One particular game which stands out was a 2-1 (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/47.jpg) win at home to Wrexham. Trailing 0-1, down to 9 men and having used all 3 substitutes, we then suffered more with the loss of our keeper woods to injury. CB Gill was given the gloves and with 20 mins still to play I would have taken the 0-1 right there and then. My team however had other ideas and a 75th min leveller from Brierley and an 85th min winner from Kizzy saw us taking all 3 points against the odds.

Having won the U18's Group 6 title the previous year and heading into the new year with a healthy lead I used the opportunity to start to introduce some of the better prospects from that level. Never throwing too many in at once all that were called upon seemed to make the step up without trouble and looked comfortable for the most part.

Our first defeat of the league season came in Febuary but by that point it had little baring on the title race. We did suffer 2 more defeats in the league but both were in games in the final weeks when there were teams sent out made up mostly of youth and reserve players.

We beat last seasons record of 17 league goals from corners, scoring a healthy 22 in the end. The new crop of youngsters again took the U18's Group 6 title and the old team went on to win the Reserves Group 4 title. The squad really is looking healthy.

In the cup competitions it was another decent year. The League cup saw us overcome a strong Fulham(Championship) side with a penalty shoot out after a 1-1 draw in the first round before being soundly beaten 6-1 to Premier League Sunderland.

In the FA Cup we are again saw our best run of the 3 competitions mostly down to a lucky draw:

First Round: Vs Stockport H 5-2
Second Round: Vs Dag & Red A 1-0
Third Round: Vs N Forrest A 4-2
Fourth Round: Vs Kidderminster H 2-2 A 1-1 3-2PK's
Fith Round: Vs Man City A 1-5

Squad (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/48.jpg)
Finances (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/51.jpg)

Is a hard call to pick any individual players out as all made good contributions through the season. I was particularly pleased with Dave Edwards (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/52.jpg) signed as a good prospect back in season 2 he is showing the potential now and has even won a call up to the England U19 Squad. Andrew Harris (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/53.jpg) was probably the pick of the senior players but not by any great distance.

So finances are looking good thanks to our cup run and I am confident in the ability of the current squad to survive next season in League 1. The fact I have gone 2 seasons without bringing anybody in on loan gives me hope that I have a team in the making and cant wait to get the new season under way.

Unless I find anybody too good to refuse over the summer I will be sticking with my team again and the only new arrivals will be to replace those moving up from the current U18 squad.

Will barely cover the repayments of 50K/month. I am a little unsure if this could be a bad call by the board. would rather have had improvements to training and youth facilitys but being greedy I am off to ask for those now.

Congrats on dominating League Two and the great cup run.
As for getting enough money, no way of knowing for sure but personally still being with the original 4500 I was worried about generating enough income, especially since last season we slowly lost money.

Well it seems they've jacked up the prices because a full house is generating about twice what it did in League Two. Hopefully it'll be the same with you and you'll make money and be able to expand over time. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

I hope thats the case or I could be in trouble. I have a transfer kitty of 450K and I am 6k below my wage budget. Still in pre season so its hard to be sure but I am losing 200k a month at the moment with 1M in the bank.

Will be sure not to spend anything I have my squad for the season in place but can still see us going into the red and I am sure it will be me taking the blame if we do. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

End of season review

Done it again at the first attempt! Yep, we're now in the Blue Square Premier after a strong debut season has led to promotion from the Blue Square North. Struggled to find time recently to keep the game running, but returned to old skool ways last night as I did half a season in a few hours, proper sess http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

After paying out a normal league win bonus of £100k, the finances are now in the red, but hopefully with increased attendences next season in the BSP we should be OK. Just depends on whether a transfer budget will be available, but if not, I'll bring more loan players in to do the business.

Additionally, the club was eventually taken over mid-season by a fans' consortium, headed by John Simpson. No extra capital was put in at that stage, but hopefully now that the club is in the red, some extra investment will be raised to ease the current financial pressure.

Our season was forged by the loan captures of Reis Ashraf, Jack Compton, Alex Cisak, Liam Robinson and Ed Upson. A brief league summary:-

<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>Ashraf: Apps 44, Gls 37, Asts 9, MoM 12, Av Rat 7.50
<LI>Compton: Apps 38, Gls 7, Asts 22, MoM 6, Av Rat 7.58
<LI>Cisak: Apps 38, Conc 44, Cln 8, MoM 8, Av Rat 6.95
<LI>Robinson: Apps 38, Gls 0, Asts 6, MoM 0, Av Rat 7.13
<LI>Upson: Apps 43, Gls 4, Asts 4, MoM 2, Av Rat 7.28[/list]

We attained promotion through the scenic route of the playoffs, although tbf we were up there all season, ranging from 1st to 7th. We did drop out of the playoffs towards the end of the season thanks to a string of defeats in a row, but during the last handful we were defeintiely the form team going into the playoffs.

Bizarely, Mansfield offered Barry Hayles to us, just before the playoffs got underway. After receiving a 'nothing special' scout report, and then signing him up for a season (£400 p/w http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif) , he had a rather quiet debut in the Playoff first leg (Home):

BSN Semi-Final Playoff Leg 1 (http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/3003/halesowenbsnplayoff1ll0.jpg)

http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Leigh did have a go as expected in the 2nd leg, but we just had too much for them tbh:

BSN Semi-Final Playoff Leg 2 (http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/8321/halesowenbsnplayoff2hi2.jpg)

Through to the final with an 8-4 aggregate victory in the semi-finals, Hinckley were the opponents:

BSN Playoff Final (http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/2315/halesowenbsnplayofffinalp9.jpg)

Depending on how the financial situation is lying at the start of next season, I will almost certainly need to strengthen the squad with more quality. According to ass man, our defence is the weak point, and tbh he's hit the nail right on the head, the defence just isn't upto scratch. Will try and add some more quality loan players if signings are hard to come by, which reminds me, I need to cancel my current Affiliates; at present Kidderminster are the parent club, and Evesham are the feeder club.

I need good morale throughout the squad, and the best way to get that is with good results. But without good morale we can't get results.

By the looks of your goal difference you aren't getting hammered every game, if you can grab a couple of 1-0 wins it might turn things around.

Loads, I was getting bids of around £4m in the lower leagues which I was lucky to be allowed to reject. Now I tend to just get loads of enquiries to which I ask for £80m which tends to shut them up.

So I finally managed to finish my second season with Hitchin. And what a season!

Despite being held back a little due to the club remaining Semi-Pro, we were promoted through the play-offs. (http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f92/Crispypaul/Dafuge%20challenge/bsp0910.jpg)

Also, we beat York in the FA Trophy final. (http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f92/Crispypaul/Dafuge%20challenge/fat2010.jpg)

No I have to do a massive overhaul of my squad, in particular in defence.

Star players:

Ben Hutchinson (http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f92/Crispypaul/Dafuge%20challenge/hutchinson0910.jpg): Top quality striker, scored nearly 50 goals in the season.

Max Noble (http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f92/Crispypaul/Dafuge%20challenge/maxnoble0910.jpg): right winger on loan from Fulham, hopefully I'll get him back for the season again.

Have just signed a couple of youngsters in my current game (just finished 4th season probably the longest I have managed in any save - tend to get board easily!) who hilst not great at the moment have great potential according to my scouts so fingers crossed I might get something similar......

A near total reversal from last season, just missing out on playoffs rather than avoiding relegation. Finished 7th (http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/6061/bluesquarepremierstageszi5.png).

Best player this season was a 16yo I signed Glen Ford (http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/4049/glenfordprofiletc2.png).

The board agreed to upgrade the youth facilities, which is good news. They also gave me a transfer budget of 250k - which is pretty useless cos there's no-one decent enough to spend money on willing to join.

First Season in the Football League was an overall sucess as we managed to stabilise quite nicely. At the start of the season the club turned pro and rather to my surprise I was allowed to scout the whole region (Scotand, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland as well as England). Had no money to spend at first but after selling a few players I was allowed to reinvest some of it so bought my first players for cash (as well as the normall load of frees!)

Set expectations to the minimum of attempt to avoid relegation but this still gave a much larger wage budget than I had had before http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. Stadium was 3/4 full for most of the season which meant that for the first time in the challenge I was making money each month. This was useful as again for the first time in the challenge I was very poor (with some bad luck) in the cups and went out in the first round I played in in each of them so no prize money and no extra gate recipts. Lucky for me the board had set the expectations to just reach the round we entered in or to simply enjoy the experience so they were not unhappy http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. In fact we actually lost money for the last month as I had given new comtracts to a load of players and had to offer more cash to get them to sign http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif. Am worried about next season as I have a load of players on yearly wage rises http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Anyway finished in a safe mid table position (http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/8272/tabseason4dg8.png) and as graph shows (http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/1080/graphseason4cy4.png) was never in danger of the drop or getting in the playoffs.

Here is all the players who played for the first team (minus those sold!) at the end of the season - Squad (http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/2735/squadseason4xs3.png)

Transfer dealings (http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/5549/transfersseason4zs5.png)

Still think I have too many players as my reserves (http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/2386/restabseason4ph0.png) and u18s (http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/244/u18tabseason4ra3.png) seemed to be quite strong in their leagues (esp the goals scored for both!)

I had a couple of loan players in the first team, one from my parent club who I had last season for 3 months - he now has me as his favourite club and is about to be out of contract with Port Vale so I have offered him a contract. The second was Bignall (http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/5711/bignallseason4fz7.png) from Reading who are in the Championship (and have been for a few seasons in my game) so fit the unoffical 2 divisons rule. He was a bit of a star even though it is only his physical stats that are really impresive. He is also out of contract with Reading very soon and I have offered for him but he doesn't seem interested at the moment http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Other start players were the same as last time Irving (http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/381/irvingseason4dz4.png) and Jeffers (http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/9879/jeffersseason4gn1.png) who for the second season running made the players divisonal team of the year.

Finally, here is my current profile (http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/4430/profileendseason4up5.png) - have gained some Scottish knowledge (must be all the whisky I drink late at night when playing http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

I asked my Chippenham board when I got promoted to BSP but the facilities were upgraded at the end of the season.

In FM07, I always got into the habit of asking the board to improve the stadium and / or training facilities just before the end of each season. Then when the new season came around in mid-to-late June, the board would usually state theie intent with regards to the requests for stadium expansion and / or training facility upgrades, basically estimating how long each project would take to complete. EG, "...shouldn't take long to complete..." (IE a month or two, possible 3 at the most); "...will take approximately 3 / 4 / 5 / etc months to complete..." (does exactly what it says on the tin); and so on.

My board said a "short time to complete", which lasted from July to November 23rd. Facilities went from minimal to basic and seemed to take off absolutely no money! Not any that I can see on the finances screen anyway.

Mine are listed as "Fairly basic training facilities" but are being upgraded at the moment for a cost of £379,364

I know there was some debate about this last year and I didn't see anything in the rules on the first page and I was wondering;

What's the policy on signing players recommended to you by current players? Do they still need to be brought in on trial? (Assuming outside normal scouting regions)

I just took a look and mine is "fairly basic" as well, rather than basic. It took absolutely no money off me though, I checked quite regularly for any type of unusual payments from the moment they were announced to when they were completed... nothing.

Tiverton Town - 13/14 League 1 - Season review

Not the best of seasons by all accounts. My aim was to survive and see which of my League 2 winning team could compete at this higher level.

Despite not planning on bringing in any new faces I hade rae reports on a few players going free by my scouts so couldn't resist signing them in the end. I think that was my main mistake because from day one I just couldnt decide exactly what was my best 11. Even now at the end of the season I still would find it hard to name and the constant chopping and changing probably contributed to our poor form.

Still survival was achieved just about. Despite an excellent start to the season which gave me great hope we slowly slid lower and lower down the table and had the season been any longer than it was we would have been gone for sure.

Table (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/55.jpg)
Graph (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/56.jpg)

Finances were a worry going into the season with the stadium loan payments starting and us yet to see the benefit from the extra match day income I was expecting it to eat up my balance. With half decent cup runs and increased prices for league 1 we got by with a loss of only 300K, leaving us with around 700k in the bank.

I am going to give this team 1 more year before deciding if I need to break it up and rebuild. I do still have faith in it despite the poor season we are still young (average age 21) so I expect it to improve. Still in desperate need of a decent striker to lead the line and that if anything will be my only addition to the team. Allthough currently the best striker who is willing to sign for us is currently playing in a reserve team for a BSP side http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

New season and a new stadium should solve any financial troubles hopefully it will be an improvement on the last one.

Hitchin Town season 4 11/12

The most annoying season yet, 14 points clear at the top at one stage, then the mid season cup games hit and the team did annoyingly well, league form took a battering and finished 5th, with no cups.

Despite an amazing performance from Fred Sears (http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/9655/shrewsburyvhitchinovervmc0.png) in the playoffs, Shrewsbury knocked Hitchin out in the semis.

You've got a stadium and I'm still waiting for youth facility upgrades (still minimal).

One question since you're in League One too, what are the values of your players like?
For me, my top players are £60-£100k even though they'd be "leading star at championship" or "good premier division" player, and getting lowish bids for them (£200k) and it's starting to annoy me. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

I had been thinking the same thing glad its not just me.

1st Team (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/59.jpg)
Reserves (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/60.jpg)

Most of my players are comparable with others in the division worth upwards of 1M yet they look worthless. I get bids of 70K from Premiership clubs for my best CB and he has similar stats to leading Championship players in that position.

Steve King (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/61.jpg) my highest valued player I signed in the BSP after a trial when he scored 2 hat tricks in 2 games. Since then he has played 26 games in the first team scoring 4 goals http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Playing a system that uses a lone striker too its hard to have faith in giving him the games he needs. The board finally found me a feeder club to loan too but even my U18's refuse to go and play for them. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

One strange thing I have noticed. If I move players from my first team to the reserves the value slowly goes up yet as soon as I move them back it starts to drop again.

I know how your feeling its not like I want to sell these players but I want to see their true worth and stop having my time wasted being given bid of 20K for players like this (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/62.jpg). I put it down to the fact most have come through my youth team signed in the early days.

Forgot to add. Those values did go up quite a bit this season (2nd in league 1). Maybe next year you will get a better valuation on them but i still doubt it will be the true worth of the players.

This just turned 18yo left back is my highest valued player at £250k and the 21 y.o. centre back wanted by 3 premier league and 5 championship clubs is £60k (cost me £50k and 15% sell on fee).

Going surprisingly well in League One so far (11 games) without Sunu but changed to a direct style of play which I hate doing but is very effective.

Still losing money though, without a good FA Cup run, i'll be well into debt by the end of the season.

Glad to see your first year going better than mine anyway (though I did start well).

I found out last year just how valuable a good striker is. In League 2 the system I was using was creating about 30+ chances most games so the fact my lone striker wasnt great didnt matter so much, creating that many chances you were always going to score. Is really costing me now though, while I am still dominating games I just dont take enough to beat teams.

Yeah was first league game, made 190K for the Careless cup game allthough I think it says that but its before its shared. Sold 1600 Season tickets bringing in 600K.

It is going to be good short term but you will probably be in a better position if you get a new stadium in championship or prem. Will be paying this till 2028 and I doubt they will build another while they have payments on this.

That said with the money I will make this year I am going to push my luck and ask them to expand it at the end of the season http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

If a current player recommends them you are free to sign them, personally I have only signed them after a trial but you don't have to do that.

Tonbridge Angels - Season 2 - Blue Square South - 2011/12

Challenge over, relegated with two games to go. Couldn't beat Merthyr Tydfil, who had a squad of players on very poor morale, and were bottom of the league.

If we didn't have that awful start to the season we would have been fine.

Don't know what I'll do now, start again with Tonbridge, try a different game or see which teams get promoted in the summer.

Have resigned and will holiday through to see which teams come up first.

Chippenham Town - Season 2, 09/10 - Half-season report

A mediocre season so far sees us lying in 9th place in the league. Unfortunately I haven't been able to emulate our superb form of last season and at the moment it looks like a playoff place is the best we can hope for.

Table (http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/5539/tablewn0.jpg)

Our main problem has been scoring goals, with last year's top scorer Mark Preston no where near as prolific as last season.

However this allowed me to try out a couple of strikers I had in reserve, and one of them, Juan Ugarte, has bagged 8 goas in 8 games recently.

Juan Ugarte (http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/9308/ugartequ4.jpg)

Trial (http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/579/trialom7.jpg)

If he can keep it up we may yet do something this season. We're still in the cups so that's a bonus but this season's challenge has been getting my tactics to work.

As I mentioned before, Nobby_McDonald posted a thread after he went on holiday for 50 years or so, and teams like Hastings United were promoted.

Has anyone seen Hastings and similar teams promoted like Nobby has, and what season did it happen in?

I'm thinking I could maybe holiday for a few years in my current game, then take control of Hastings or someone similar maybe 8 seasons or so into the game.

In his game Folkestone (with a rep of 700) were promoted in 2010, so it could be possible. Or maybe I'm just dreaming? http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I don't really want to start managing in 2020, by then the youngsters at the start of the game will be old, 2015 or so might not be too bad.

Witton Albion - Championship - 16/17 - Rodrigo De La Vega

Our first season in the Championship went well. Far better than expected. Rather than struggling for survival we got a great start and for the first 12 games or so were firmly in the top half. Consistancy then dropped off a bit but the points kept ticking over, keeping the team in the top 10. With the last 10 games to go we were only a few points off a play off place. Which heralded a complete lost in form. We lost over half the games, scraped a couple of draws and won the last two games, finishing here. (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/17/table.jpg)

I'd have stuck the graph in too but I forgot to screen cap it before going ahead to the next season.

A key point of the season was the sale of Helio I mentioned before. To replace him I got Bakos. (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/17/Bakos.jpg) He did well and hopefully with experience he'll do the team proud.

The sale of Helio means we now have the money for one of two things like this. (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/17/Stadium.jpg) It should give us an attendence of just over 14k. Not too bad but hardly stunning at this level. We've been almost selling out every home game and I think we'll be able to fill the 14k too. It's progress though.
Also, as you can see on the screenshot http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif the training and youth facilities are going to be improved. Bit by bit the club is progressing.

Anson (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/17/Anson.jpg) was fan's player of the year again. That's the fourth time running, fifth time in total. Who can blame them though with a record like this? (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/17/AnsonHistory.jpg) His value has shot up from around half a million after promtion to £3.2 million.

Next seasons aims....
Mid table. I don't want to push it too far. I just want to get settled in the league for a push in the season after. I need to bring in a top class keeper idealy. I have one or two young keepers who might be up to it in a couple of years but no one who's ready yet.
My main keeper last season, until he got injured, Lenny Connor, played 28, conceded 48 and only kept 5 clean sheets. His back up, Wayne Burton, managed 18 appearences, conceded 34 and had 3 clean sheets. Horrific really. If I could have cut out maybe 20 goals, 10 apiece, then we might have managed to squeeze into the play offs.

Anyway, onwards and upwards.

kanovi! Hope you're back soon. Always great to read about your game.

</div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Almost to prove my point, when i showed you King's value he had just been promoted from the reserves. Through injury to my main striker and having lost faith in the 2 senior backup players I had, King and another likely lad from my youth system were thrown upfront together. This time he has taken his chance as I write this he has 19 goals in 15 starts, 9 in his last 2 games http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif . Just handed in a transfer request the ungreatfull little git and his value is down to 210k less than half what it was at the start of the season.

Steve King (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/64.jpg)

Season is going well currently sitting in 3rd after 18 or so league games, so possibly if I can get promoted this year I can persuade him to stay. Might be being hopeful there though.

On a brighter note though I may have found his replacement. Found without a club at the start of the season was this kid. (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/65.jpg) http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Looks like you've got hold of a bit of quality there in Ugarte. He appears to have all the key attributes you look for in a striker, well worth the wages http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Got Southend (Championship) away for FA Cup 3rd round. Which probably means a loss and only a smallish amount of money.

I really need the money too. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Due to the fact we haven't had the internet for the last week or so, I've been unable to update either of the websites with my progress with Maidstone United.

However, now that I have the net back, expect a full scale report on how I've been doing. Just off to do the website, and will write a report on here later!

It is mainly all I have invested in the past 3 seasons or so. Bringing in around 10 U18's each season on top of the ones naturally promoted to my U18's.

Winning the U18's league 3 out of the last 4 years and the reserve league 3 out of 4 also, I have a wealth of kids all with international experiance. Trouble is though I think it is holding me back in some ways. I try too hard to get them in the first team for the odd game but with 2 players for each position already in my 1st team squad they just don't get the games they need. I have a feeder club that even 16 year olds dont want to play for and a board unwilling to look for another.

Some examples:

Mark Gatson (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/66.jpg)
This kid I picked up at 15, has loads of big clubs after him but has only made 17 1st team appearances. Currently playing in the reserves.

Craig Jones (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/67.jpg)
Was promoted to my U18's, really like the look of him but hasnt improved as much as I expected. 6 1st team appearances.

Ryan Neill (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/68.jpg)
Yet to play a senior game. Found as a free agent.

Plus plenty more of similar standard I struggle to give games.

Some players I am forcing myself to play currently:

Dave Edwards (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/70.jpg)
Probably the most used of any players brought through the system but still under played. Key position though and I dont like throwing him in for big games.

Neil Lake (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/71.jpg)
Loads of clubs after him yet those 7 appearances this year are his only for the club in 5 seasons.

Ross King (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/72.jpg)
Great player but only in the side due to injurys to 1st choice for his position.

Ted Moncur (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/74.jpg)
Far too many promising keepers at the club. Playing due to poor form of 1st choice.

Ian Clarke (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/75.jpg)
In and out the team for a few seasons, class player but 4th in line for the left wing spot where he seems to perform best.

Jamie Palmer (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/76.jpg)
30 appearances in 6 years.

Currently have 80 players at the club 46 of which are wanted by other clubs and I am just too damn greedy to want to let any go.

Just wondering, did you find most of them personally, through player search function or through your scouts?

Just wondering, did you find most of them personally, through player search function or through your scouts?

I find scouts pretty useless really when it comes to young talent so I do my own searching then send them to look at the players.

Every summer on june 20th I run a search for unattached players 18 or under. Then if you click the INF to sort them in that order. Then you can see the ones who have clubs intrested so obviously they are the better of the bunch.

I add any that are wanted to a shortlist then get my assistant and both my scouts to get report cards on them. Some may have bids on them already so I will look at what I can see of these players stats and occasionally take a gamble. At the end of the day your only going to pay 3K a year for wages so it pays off signing plenty.

Of the ones who are not wanted I work my way through picking any that look intresting and offering them trials. There is always the odd one decent player.

One other good trick as well which has provided my best results, Is a flaw in the game in a way. Go down the list viewing the players and go to approach to sign for each player (if it shows youth contract change it to full time). There will be comments from your ASS man like "this player wouldnt be worth while" "would be a good signing" if there are any there that say "quality signing" or you should "sign at all costs" get them offers in quick.

That last way has got me the better players, it can be a pain going through every single player on the list though like that.

Chippenham Town season Update 29/30

well just a short update due to the fact that as usual only just managed to stay in the premiership.

League Table (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b219/jsar/fm2930/leaguetable.jpg)

however the one HUGE high was winning the FA cup, for some reason my team dont seem to want to play football in the league but when it comes to the cup they love it.

It was the Usual suspects that managed to keep me up

Martins (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b219/jsar/fm2930/martins.jpg)

Costa (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b219/jsar/fm2930/costa.jpg)

Ismail (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b219/jsar/fm2930/ismail.jpg)

as well as a great first season from

Ribeiro (http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b219/jsar/fm2930/ribeiro.jpg)

getting 20 goals and 10 assisits in 32 games

not a great start to the 30/31 season however

Yeah, I wish I had a half decent feeder club to send him off to. He scored in a 1-0 win on his senior debut, back off to the U18's now though hopefully I will get the chance to give him a few more later in the season. Would try him in the reserves but I Have a wealth of average strikers rotting in there the Ass man will play ahead of him.

Season Review - Fergus Alexson, Marine - 08/09 - Blue Square North

Having groomed their way through over 80 trialists in the six weeks of pre-season in the hope of finding the proverbial rough diamond, Marine from Crosby, Merseyside, experienced the delights of the Blue Square Northern Section for the first time in their history.

With no budget to speak off, the club carefully selected 26 or so players, keeping tightly within it's budget with whom it felt it could advance and take themselves to the next level.

The board already had lofty ideas of a mid-table finish on such limited resources, and this wasn't helped when the manager decided that looking at his potential squad, promotion was a possibility.

Living dangerously was something the Mariners fans would get to know all too well over the next 10 months...

The season started poorly, two home defeats to Harrogate and Hinkcley back to back, shipping five goals and scoring two, gave Marine a jolt in to the ranks of Football Manager Elite. Already feeling the sting of pride beginning to hurt, they picked themselves up earn draws away at Telford and Worcester, both times having scored early only to be unable to capitalise on their dominance and concede late (75min +) equalisers. Confidence growing from those two results, they went went unbeaten for twelve matches (Drawing five, winning seven), the highlight being a 5-0 demolition of Leigh, away in the FA Cup 2nd Round Qualifier, a match everybody had written them off for.

However, the F.A.Cup Third Round Qualifiers were to be Marine's undoing; losing and inexplicably so, to Malden 1-0. Even though the Mariners were at home, they were thoroughly outplayed and it put them in to a tail spin it took over a month to recover from: in that time losing four straight games, scoring seven and conceding eleven.

Form remained patchy in the run up to christmas, scrabbling draws and the odd win here and there, with the odd loss very likely too, this was compounded by losing in the F.A. Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round, again at home to non-league Redbridge, who, having been totally outclassed for the entire game popped up with a deflected goal from the corner in the 87th minute and sent Marine down and out.

Needless to say, Fergus wasn't in his cups... (Sorry)

The Mariners picked themselves up from that though to give themselves an early Christmas present, a 5 - 2 thrashing of Stalybridge. but again form stuttered throughout the busy Christmas and new year period and Marine found themselves comfortably mired and jostling in and around the top twelve.

The New Year saw little improvement, a weak backline exposed time and again on the counter and only saved by some fine goalkeeping and the firepower upfront with goals coming from the wonderfully named Chris Coward, Stefan Koffi and Mark Laird on loan from Man City chipping in with the midfields' workload.

Going in to Easter, the playoffs still looked a dim possibility, lingering tenth, six points behind Hinckley but a country mile beyond anything else but hindered by a defense prone to lapses of concentration the sketchy form ran it's way through the entire season, the boys from Rossett Park seeming incapable of holding on to a lead or building on one they had established and struggling over the finish line to contemplate what might have been

http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh42/FergusAlex/bsn0809.jpg

Conclusion

A disappointing and dispiriting introduction to LLM where my naivete and inexperience at this level showed. I made some poor player choices, trusting intuition and assistant advise when I should have gone with my gut. It's hard to leave behind the ideas of quality versus naked ability at this level. A striker with finishing of 20 is great, but it's better to have one with strength and pace who can at least beat his man consistently - I was punished a number of times by a number of players whom I'd discarded only to realisetheyw ere exactly what I needed to get me out of this dog-fighting division.

I was too scared of the transfer market and going in for under 18s at big clubs and in the end when I did, it was too late. By then I was patently ignoring the fact that in any given match my back four were sinking faster than the Titanic and getting overwhelmed and I just refused to shore it up - something, which given my extravagent promises at the start of the season SHOULD have gotten me the sack, but I'm clinging on, just, because I beat the media prediction by a good 3 places.

I have a number of good youth players, my full backs look promising as do my strikers but my central defense is woeful and will need rebuilding in the off season. Midfield, might be ok, but a replacement left winger is needed, squad depth was stretched painfully thin when a couple of big injuries rolled in.

In short: a D. Must try harder.

I've noticed on this version, 10 is good for physical attributes, anything more is a bonus. Players with more than 10 in their important attributes lack too much in most other areas.

Not as easy as previous versions when it comes to good physical players to get out of the league.

Quite simply I think the easiest way to do this is to show how I've done really.

League Table: 2009/10 (http://img227.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture1mq8.png) - 2010/11 (http://img108.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture2kl8.png) - 2011/12 (http://img227.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture3tc1.png) - 2012/13 (http://img85.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture4ao2.png) - 2013/14 (http://img85.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture5lz6.png) (Play-off Final (http://img86.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture14ii3.png)).

Steady progress so far, after a slow start to the challenge with two nothing seasons, we really kicked on and have started to make progress. Essentially relying on my assistant to relay who is a quality signing.

Our cup progress once again started off as rubbish but in the last two seasons we've actually performed respectably. Whilst in the Premier, we managed to get to the semi-final of the FA Trophy, but went out to Stockport County on aggregate. However, we did get our own back by beating them 4-1 in the play-off final.

The last season we got all the way through to the Johnstone Paint Final, (http://img114.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture6ll6.png), where we played West Bromich Albion. Was pleased just have kept them close all game, but the late finish and surprise win on penalties left me shocked, really expected to get trounced.

At this moment in time I'm rebuilding my team for League One as most of my players were said to be Blue Sq. Premier to League Two standard players, and I scraped through the tail end of last season. I'm hoping to make some decent signings, but managed to annoy a lot of my team by changing their squad status so lets see how that effects my aspirations. In League One I'm hoping for a mid-table finish really. I think the players I have and will sign will be too good to go down, but quite there for promotion to the Championship. It seems funny really, League One is a bit of a nothing league in the grand scheme of this challenge. BSN/BSS is the beginning, BSP is the first promotion, League 2 is professional, League 1 is ?, Championship is one away from the Premier League and the Premiership means the end is in sight. Tiverton Town - 14/15 League 1 - Season review

In all my years playing the FM series I have to say this season was probably one of the most exciting seasons. The fans certainly would have enjoyed the first season in our new home for sure.

Only two new arrivals of note this season, however both proved to be very pleasing and excelent business. Fabian Delph (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/79.jpg) and Grzegorz Krychowiak (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/80.jpg) (I am sure the fans had fun singing his name) both were snapped up on free transfers and quickly established themselves in the first team.

Pre season went perfectly, a 4-0 win over Galatasary in the first ever game at our new home set the standard. I so badly wanted to make the place into our own little fortress and for the team to have a record there that would make no team want to come. With that result we set the standard and followed it up with a 4-1 win over Birmingham City.

So into the new season, publicly I gave expectations of another relegation battle while privatly I knew my team was made of stronger stuff and badly wanted us to be threatening the playoff places at least. My high hopes certainly got higher as we started the season with 2-1 wins at home to Oldham and away to Luton, a 1-1 draw away to peterborough and then the best result of my Tivvy career to date a 5-0 demolition in our new home of Premiership Middlesbrough. Defeat came in our second round League cup tie away to Preston 3-1, but that was in between 4 league wins where we scored 14 and conceeded only one, we had hit the top and were looking good.

Our stay at the top however was short lived as we suddenly slumped losing 4 of our next 6 league games and suffering a horiffic injury to Michael Stewart (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/81.jpg) which saw him ruled out for the rest of the season. Luckily for us none of the other teams were able to capatalise on our poor form, Millwall and Doncaster had emerged from the pack as the early pace setters but as it proved over the entire season just as one team looked to be breaking away from the rest they would take a nose dive and allow the others to pass them by.

The new year came and things could not have been tighter at the top 4 teams all on 52 points seperated only by goal difference. Form however was still patchy to say the least and after starting the new year with 3 wins in the league and once more hitting the top we were pegged back once more in a terrible 11 game run that saw us win only 2, taking 10 points from a possible 33. In any normal season that would have been the final nail in our coffin and we would have found ourselves well off the pace but this was proving to be no normal season and remakably we led the table on no fewer than 4 occasions during that run.

So into the home straight we went 7 games remaining sitting in 4th place and still only 4 points away from the top. We ended our bad run with 2 wins and a draw and clawed are way back up to 2nd place reducing the gap down to goal difference. Surely this time we would push on and take the opportunity to secure one of the 2 automatic promotion spots. I believed we had the advantage at this point we had just come out of our bad run while Doncaster in 1st place and Millwall in 3rd seemed to be falling away as we had done so dramatically in previous weeks. With us having on paper what looked like the easier run in and by luck of the draw Doncaster having to travel to Millwall on the final day of the season, I at the very least expected us to hold onto what we had and claim the 2nd promotion place.

The first of our 4 games in the run in came away to Stoke who were currenly lying in mid table. It wasnt long into that match on the monday night that I realised my players legs had gone. We were getting run ragged and just seemed to be tired and second best in every position. The 2-0 defeat doesnt tell the full story I couldnt have complained if we lost 10-0 that day. With goal difference potentially being the deciding factor, in the end it felt like a result. None of the other teams in the hunt capatalised on our mistake and we moved that one step closer still clinging on to 2nd.

If I wasn't thinking my players were spent after the Stoke game, I certainly was in the next game as I watched us go down without a fight to already relegated Accrington. I was sure that was it and still not guaranteed a playoff place our season was threatening to blow up big time. Once more though as I looked over the results by some twist of fate things had once more gone in our favour. None of the top 4 able to win we held onto 2nd and yet again moved that one step closer.

Concerned about the condition of my players in the previous two games and with a week off before the next, I decided to give the entire 1st team squad a 3 day rest in the hope they would recover the energy for that final step we needed to make. It payed off and we looked comfortable for the entire match in a 2-0 win over Bristol City. Doncaster claimed the League 1 title with a game to spare and we went into the final game of the season knowing a win would gurantee us 2nd. With the added advantage of the only team that could now catch us having to face the newly crowned champions things were looking good.

The events of that final day still leave a bitter taste in the mouth. Having taken the lead away to Chesterfield after 6 mins and creating chance after chance, I was a little dissapointed at the break to only have the one goal lead but on learning Millwall were already 2-0 down to Doncaster things seemed to be well on track. Football however is a funny game and in spectacular fashion our lead turned into a 3-1 deficit in the space of 9 second half mins, during which time Millwall had come from behind to draw level in the other game. We managed to pull one back with 25 mins to play but in all fairness never looked like we had it in us to get the result we needed. Millwall however did and they overturned the 2-0 scorline to win 3-2.

Tired, Demoralised and out of form we now had to face the playoffs. Being honest I thought we had lost our chance. I just didnt see how we could pick ourselves up from our poor run. At the same time other teams were heading into the playoffs on a high.

After all the drama of the regular season I was expecting more but in truth the playoffs didnt live up to the hype. A dull 1-1 draw away to Scuthorpe was followed up with a comprehensive 4-0 win infront of a record home crowd. Then 89,205 turned up at webley for the final in which we never looked threatened beating Peterborough 2-0.

Table (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/83.jpg)
Graph (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/84.jpg)

The emergance of Steve King (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/85.jpg) as a prolific goalscorer (44 goals in 48 starts) gives mixed emotions. He makes Anelka look like a saint already falling out with both myself and my Ass man, rejecting contracts to make him the highest payed player at the club and requesting transfers regularly I think it may be for the good of the team to offload him before the new season. Dependant on his mood in pre season I will be considering his future but he really does have the potential to be a class player.

With the new stadium the club made a profit of 1.5M this season and with players to sell in the summer and lots of promise in the youth and reseve teams things are looking good. I have a really exciting young reserve team that I am itching to start to introduce to the first team now. They had an incredable season (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/86.jpg) scoring 186 goals in 38 league games.

I always find league 1 to the championship one of the biggest steps up in class, promises to be a long difficult season but cant wait to get it started. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

I can't believe this, but for the first time in years I'm staring at my first relegation dogfight....had to go in and tell the board with utmost confidence that we'd fight for promotion, 29 matches on and we are 3 points away from the cellar and 5th from bottom in the Championship. Hope the board remembers who got them into the championship in consecutive seasons.

Great work on promotion ole (I was trying to think of the best way to shorten your name)

Great read with the story and 89,000 turning up at Wembley for the playoff final is amazing. You must've handed out free tickets or something http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Steve King unfortunately has to go if he's a bad as you say. You have a lot of great kids there so I'm sure you'll find a more mentally balanced replacement. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

New stadium seems great too. The profit you're making will come in real handy.

4th round vs Doncaster became a 2 leg thriller.

Again only a 1/2 full stadium which is disappointing but probably helps me get the result.

Won it through an offside goal which was allowed http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif It was blatant enough that I even admitted it to the press..lol

Next up, 5th Round, Ipswich away, who are currently leading the Championship, so a very tough match but hopefully they'll put in a weaker side with the focus being on the Championship. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Requested they expand at the end of the season, they said no http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon13.gif

Two weeks later they took out another loan and annonced they would be expanding. Not by much but it will take the capacity up to 10156 http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Don't know where they get their loans but the 5M stadium loan is going to cost over 9M and the 2.3M expansion loan over 4M http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Must have been off some shady back street loan shark, hopefully I wont get my legs broken if I get relegated and cant keep up the payments

Good luck with that, I have done well against championship teams. They seem to take it for granted and field weakened teams. Maybe a TV game also if your lucky.

We've also getting TV coverage for the game, which will make up for the lesser gate of being at home. Will also be the team's 1st game on TV in 2 years, so hopefully they don't go all deer in headlights on me.

AFC Wimbledon - 2020/2021

Ok, here's a round up of my past few seasons. Other screenshots on request.

Premiership (http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg237/josepand/13league.jpg) - 6th

*** I read on the SI Forums that as the game slows down as the years advance that you can speed it up by deleting 'temp' files. Unfortunately I was stupid enough to delete these files whilst the game was running, which has caused some errors in player historys and some old league tables are no longer available http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif here are some of the player history errors:
error 1 (http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg237/josepand/fabregaserror.jpg)
error 2 (http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg237/josepand/saiveterror.jpg)
error 3 (http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg237/josepand/patoerror.jpg)

Anyway, we're currently doing really well in the Premiership, beating some good sides along the way to qualifying for the UEFA Cup, however we've still came nowhere near winning any cups whatsoever! I've managed to capture some players of amazing quality, i'm trying to fend off bids for these players whilst trying to bring in more of similar quality. I found the easiest way to do this was to just bombard the newly relegated sides with bids for their better players.

No idea, it was quite strange really as alot of their players were still pretty good. That was the 2nd time they've been relegated since my game started. They are currently top of the Championship though after 14 games and look set to return to the Prem.

Found out that autosave doesnt do them as seperate files this year. Shame it was with 6 games to go of the season whilst I was second.

Had to start again, but I was able to resign the majority of my previous squad, apart from a winger and a striker who were newgens, and a left winger who decided to join another side. I tried to sign Toni Ameobi who had lit up the league last year with Boston scoring 40 goals, but he went to a league 2 side. I did however manage to sign Luke Boden after his contract was terminated at Wednesday.

Im currently top of the league with a simalar points to what I had last year, but Boston have dropped alot more without Ameobi. Boden has scored 10 goals and has got 25 assisst, and his height and strength make him a great target man at this level. My other 3 strikers have socred 40 between them.

Sorry it's so long but I really enjoyed the ups and BIG downs of the season so I wanted to shame them all with you...

Season Review - Fergus Alexson, Marine - 09/10 - Blue Square North

Season 2 started off brightly for Alexson and the boys from Rossett Park, a quick trip to Ikea had seen him bring in a new back four with a little bit of pace and bite to it, add a little steel and width to midfield and bring back two loanees from last season in the form of Richard Martin from Man City and Scott Spencer from Everton. Spencer spent the final three months of last season on loan with Marine scoring seven in ten, and although he got injured with a couple of weeks left in the campaign, he was deemed too good to give up on.

A 3-0 opening day win against King's Lynn prompted the team to go on an unbeaten nine game spree, a loss and then another five straight convincing wins pushed them up to third and a good run of form saw them sitting pretty on at the start of the New Year in second with, three points behind leaders Burton and having conceded only 14 goals.

December 1st 2009, however, is a date that will long go down in Mariners history: it was the day they actually started playing football.

Away to King's Lynn in the Setanta Shield, Alexson got bolder, urging his team to shrug off the quick direct countering that had served them so well but to use the width of the pitch playing slower, shorter passes to unlock teams.

Three - nil with goals from Barrau, Coward and Spencer said it was a million to one shot but it might just work..

A four - nil thrashing of Leigh at home followed: Webster, Coward (2) and Robson netting pushed them deeper in to the mire of relegation confirmed it and gave Alexson an extra hint of glee. The auld enemy had now been whipped, not once, but four times in the space of eighteen months.

But then disaster!

A freak training ground accident sidelined Spencer for five weeks and the team struggled for form and consistency. Goals were in short supply, Koffi and McKernan proving poor substitues for Spencer leaving Coward to carry most of the burden on his own.

This is why I missed him - his comeback game, on as a HT sub:
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh42/FergusAlex/spencer_returns.jpg

The team stumbled and faltered, choking their way through the dark, awkward winter months, confidence shot, even on Spencer's return and aided by the permanent addition of Liverpool's Michael Scott, the team floundered gleaning only twenty-nine points from their last twenty matches and Burton romped away in to the distance some satisfaction gained when Marine inflicted only their third defeat of the season at Burton. Scott Spencer atoning for an earlier penalty miss late in the game to give the Crosby boys some pride.

Even with a good defence they were prey for teams playing on the counter and had no sting of their own with which to reply. Second become third, become fourth became fifth became the last day of the season.

Four teams were fighting for the last three spots, Hucknall in third with 71 points, Marine, in fourth on 71 points then Worksop, 71, and Farsley on 70. Anything other than a win in their final game, given Farsley and Hucknall were playing two teams already down would see Marine miss out altogether.

Winning would also mean dodging the bullet of Nuneaton who had beaten them comfortably 4 - 2 only a couple of weeks previously until the semi-final.

One more game.

Away.

At Leigh.

At Leigh who were in the third relegation place and needed a win to stay up. Alexson smelt irony at work.

Marine took charge early on although failed to find their way past an inspired keeper but in the twenth-eight minute, with both Farsley and Woking winning the game came to life, Deering cutting in from the right wing and putting Spencer through who finished with aplomb, firing high in to the top left hand corner past a stranded keeper.

As the game the game opened up, both sides realised a win was imperative and started to push men forward. With just over an hour on the clock Alexson realised it was make or break time. To sit back and invite an equaliser was too risky, the team had to push on, so he told his subs to sit down and stretched the play, pushing wider. The response was almost instantaneous; niggling play in the far corner of Marine's area was broken up by Joseph Oastler the defensive midfielder, nipping the ball off the toes of a sulky winger he span and strode forward launching a long ball down the flank to Michael Scott. Scott timed his run perfectly: one touch, two and fired in to the bottom corner of the near post.

Job done.

With Worksop winning and Hucknall being stomped by runaway chapions Burton. Marine jumped up to third, safe in the knowledge that Nuneaton would have to weight if either of them made it there in the gauntlet of the playoffs.

Playoff Semi Final First Leg
Marine vs. Woking

Under growling, grizzling and weeping skies both sides started very cagily with flat 4-4-2's as they tested each other out. Marine got an early break though, Barrau bundled over in the box at a corner. The captain stood up, dusted himself down and marched the ball to the spot before promptly taking probably the worst penalty I have ever seen Someone had forgotten to tell him he was not in off-season yet, so why he seemed to take a penalty with a sand wedge I have no idea. It went up, it came down about three yards wide of the left hand post.

Should have taken a mulligan.

Not to be deterred it was Marine who pushed on, breaking the stranglehold when Spencer pounced on a rebound from a blistering Scott shot just before half time.

Coming back out from half time, both teams had kept the same blunted formations and again Marine took the fight to Worksop. Barrau again bundled down in the box this time passed the honour to his left back, Michael Burns who found the corner without hesitation from twelve yards.

Worksop came back, spurred on and trying to find a precious away goal but couldn't find a way through a resolute Marine defence, only to be killed off in the 88th minute when the Marine right winger, Deeing, played Chris Coward in and from the angle he found the opposite corner with his man and the keeper well and truly beaten. Three - Nil to Marine.

Playoff Semi Final Second Leg
Woking (0) vs Marine (3)

Woking continued where they left off, a very aggressive 4-4-2 that left the Mariners with no choice but to go on the counter, soaking up the long balls and then returning them with interest. The game was deadlocked, each team fashioning openings only for them to be rebuffed until the stroke of half time Worksop's Jake Hyde gave them a glimmer of hope profiting when Ellis misjudged a long ball and it fell straight in to his path,

Two goals right after half time settled it though, with play barely restarted a minute, Spencer latched on to a hopeful long ball from Derring to guide it deftly home and straight from the restart, Worksop earned a corner, Mohammed Dikuiza nipping in at the back post.

For all their fight, the game seemed to fizzle out of Worksop, the away goal had well and truly killed them off. Marine sat back, knocking around square balls and played out time; they had better things to do, they were off to Wem...

Oh wait.

Halifax.

Playoff Final The Shay, (Halifax)
Marine vs Nuneaton Borough

Nobody gave Marine a hope in hell. Nuneaton had beaten off Hucknall 7 - 1 on aggregate in their semi-final. A forward line that had shifted 66 goals between the four of them, one less than the whole Marine team had managed over the course of the season made them look unbeatable. Add to that a comprehensive whipping of Alexson's men back in March, 4-2, well, the bookies stopped taking bets the moment the final whistle sounded in the semi's.

By the look of it from their formation, Nuneaton wanted this over and done with ASAP so they could get on with chugging champagne, Alexson realised there was no way he could hold that irresistable strike force back so they only way to face them was to go on the attack, he pushed his wingers out wide just in front of their back four and hoped for the best.

Nuneaton made most of the early running, forcing a couple of long range saves from Martin but the game got bogged down in midfield pretty quickly. Marine's short passing triangles were pretty and effective, fashioning one or two early chances for the Marine strikers but it was route one that was to prove first blood, Martin punting up the field from a wasted Nuneaton goalkick, Scott smuggled the ball past his man, raced in to the area and fired low in to the bottom corner with the keeper stranded.

Shock, absolute shock but you should never kick a tigers tail.

Nuneaton pushed on, forcing Marine ever deeper as they went long and wide, pressure told: two goals in two minutes right on half time from Donovan Simmonds, both counter-attacking poachers efforts from rebounds left the Mariners stunned.

2 - 1 down and 45 minutes of bombardment to go: Not good.

Alexson refused to buckle though, he reigned in his wide men but told them to push up whenever Marine had possession to keep the Nuneaton full backs penned in.

Nuneaton came on, and on, and on, and on but couldn't find a way past a solid back four and Martin having the game of his life in goal. Marine were countering attacking, but their shooting was wasteful, both strikers looking tired and weary against a stone wall Nuneaton defence.

Scott was replaced with Coward and the captain, winger, Barrau made way for younger fresher legs.

Two minutes later, still soaking up their attacks, it was completely against the run of play when a long ball from the back slipped between the Nuneaton centrebacks, Coward pounced on it with predatorial greed and slammed it home his first touch bringing his team back in to it. The crowd (and the manager who had refused to look!) went nuts. Dead but not buried!

The game slipped in to extra time, each side fashioning half chances, Martin in imperious form in the Marine goal thwarting every effort and Arnold doing the same, each clawing out headers bound for the bottom corner before Coward clipped a post from close range.

Penalties it was...

We've also getting TV coverage for the game, which will make up for the lesser gate of being at home. Will also be the team's 1st game on TV in 2 years, so hopefully they don't go all deer in headlights on me. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

£300k prizemoney too http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Oh and a fully green match confidence bar.

New highest attendance (4495) 1 more than the previous..lol, where were the missing 5 people? Highest gate of £90k too, although Villa get half.

Mixed emotions actually. They're my parent club so 3 of my players won't be able to play. Other semi is Nottm Forest vs Swansea/Newcastle so I def got the tougher, richer match-up.

Maybe I'll finally be able to expand my stadium or improve my training facilities.

Just finished my first season in the championship, will post my report a little later.

We survived, had to play the most dull unatractive football you will ever see to manage it though.

My 4 best players who basically kept me up on their own all want to leave and have days left on their contracts.

we lost 1M this year and the board to my shock just announced they have taken out yet another loan to expand the stadium this time taking it to 17,000.

Should be pleased but the two expansions have cost more than the stadium did to begin with. Now I am paying 170K a month on loans.

Just to make it worse this expansion will take almost the full season (8 months) and my capacity will be at 8000 till its done.

We had a redused capacity the first 4 months which didn't help. After it was finished we were getting 10,000 every game so pretty much a full house.

I am just working out which way to go with the team now, don't want to have another season playing that awful football again.

Plan A

Bring in a load of ageing Premiership players released and available for nothing. Hopefully they would have one good season in them and we could just go for it. Promotion would mean I had the budget to bring in a few key players then to mix in with the youth I have coming through.

Plan B

Sell them!!! Sell them all..... get rid of my current 1st team squad and promote my entire youth team now. The reduced wage bill would see me making a fortune each season. If we could survive in the Championship a couple of years I would know which players have what it takes and have the money to replace the ones who don't.

Either way its the end of the line for quite a few of my current 1st team though.

Very proud of the efforts of all the players. We were missing much of the first team squad through injuries and a few ineligible, so was pleased with them.

The fans were "very disappointed" which is stupid really.

Really doesn't affect your balance either. Mine was 7.5 million. we got 500K for selling the dive we were playing in at the time. a 2M grant and the other 5M was a bank loan.

I was holding out for a decent offer. I sacked my Ass man the day after King announced he didnt like him in the hope it would help, he did behave himself the whole season after that. I appeared as favoured personnel and the team as a favourite club. I did hope he had turned the corner but he just wouldn't sign.

I do have another generation of talented strikers though trying to work out which one to promote now.

AFC Wimbledon 2012/13 League One Season Review

Probably the best year I could hope for that didn't involve promotion.
Start of the year aimed for a solid League One spot, well clear of relegation and a good cup run to boost finances.
Well, it went just as I'd aimed with a respectable League placing and a great run into the FA Cup Semi-Final where we ran into our parent club, Arsenal who, as the name suggests, had too strong an arsenal of talent for us to keep out (ya, that was pretty lame)

League One Table (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/8152/leaguein4.jpg)
Graph (http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/2799/graphkd9.jpg)

As you can see from the table, we had no problem scoring, leading the league in that regard but still struggled to keep them out at the other end.
Trying to work out if it is a tactical issue, a defensive issue, or the midfield not preventing chances being created.

Squad (http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/4679/squadpy8.jpg)

Dawkins (http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/6356/dawkinsue9.jpg)
New striker brought in, very hot and cold, ambitous but struggles with pressure (go figure). Ended up being leading scorer, leading assists and leading MoM.
Cronesberry (http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/8029/cronesberryhb8.jpg)
Simak (http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/1507/simakwa8.jpg)
Reid (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/523/reidlj3.jpg)
Reid was brought in from the wilderness when injuries hit the LB spot, performed well and became 1st choice.

transfers (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/9387/transferspj1.jpg)

Finances (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/5552/financeskl4.jpg)
The great cup run was a godsend financially. Early rounds were against weak opponents and although we never got the dream 3rd/4th round away tie, the CH and LI level opponents allowed to progress to the Semi-Final and a trip to Wembley that netted us £1.6m

CLub Information (http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/9553/infodi7.jpg)
Still original capacity and poor training/youth facilities. Hopefully the money made this year will help change that.

Current Profile (http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/8789/profiledw4.jpg)
A squad rotating disciplinarian would be an apt description.

Next year we strengthen the squad and look to push for promotion.

Well done EJ

I also had Dawkins and Cronesberry in my squad a few years ago, both were quality players for me, although I did only have Dawkins on loan for 2 seasons, he wouldn't sign for me http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Keep hold of Cronesberry if you can, he ended up being a really good Championship winger for me, I didn't want to sell him but the chairman in his wisdom decided to accept £250k for him.

Good luck with promotion next year http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

To be honest ej (thegreat) it's not really slowed my progress at all. The players I've sold have been youngsters I've picked up from Premier League clubs that haven't cut it for me, or have done well and I've out grown their ability. For example I signed a kid from Arsenal, who played 12 games and failed so badly I sold him on. Fortunately he had the potential still and Bishop's Stortford bought him off me for a cool £100k.

Transfer History: 2009/10 (http://img229.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture1ep7.png) - 2010/11 (http://img219.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture2mu4.png) - 2011/12 (http://img219.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture3zs0.png) - 2012/13 (http://img507.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture4ud3.png) - 2013/14 (http://img229.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture7wk0.png).

A lot of my money has come from gate receipts really, with crowds increasing year on year.

Hoping to finish the current season tonight and will update when done.

Hello group - My name is Thomas and I am addicted to Dafuge´s challenge in Football Manager!! http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I'm not joking. Since I bought my copy of FM08 (that was the day after I got sacked from Margate in Fm07) I have tried starting other challenges such as Gundo's and The San Marino challenge but I can't get my head in to the game. I lose my interest even before the season starts and start a new game. My intention were to try something different than Dafuge's (no offence) - but I can't keep away. So I started holidaying 2 minutes ago.

How about the website? Is it still up and running??

Will be back with profile etc.

Nicely done! A shrew bit of buisiness there.

My expansion is finished, and it's Novemember time. So plenty of time to fill it and make some money back. Problem is, and it's not too huge a problem really but...my capacity is 14221. My first home game, my 500th http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif, in the new capacity got 14200. If that stays that way....then I need a huge expansion to make it worth while or a new stadium.

I've already had one new stadium built, am I likely to get a new one anytime soon? I'm thinking no seeing as it's only a couple of years old.

Maidstone United - 2014/15 League One - End of Season Review

So yet another season is over at Maidstone, and yet another dramatic season with more excitement right at the end of the season. As can be seen from the position chart (http://img138.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture2bj6.png) tracking our positions, we got off to a flier winning our first three games. We then played Bristol Rovers (then top, the only other team 100% record) in the League Cup (http://img220.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture3kr6.png), which we lost whilst playing our reserves. This led to us being unable to play football and going on a terrible run of form and dropping down to 23rd. Just as it seemed to be goodnight League One, our summer signing Kieron Wrightson (http://img231.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture4hn4.png) (signed on a free from Newcastle United) returned following a three month lay-off and we gave Port Vale a 3-0 thumping. This led to us finding our feet in fine style and jumping right up and into mid-table. As the year started to draw to a close, we could focus briefly on the cups we were still in. We got drawn against local side Gillingham in the FA Cup. After a gritty 1-1 draw (http://img134.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture5vk1.png) in the first game, we took them back to Central Park and beat them 3-1 in the replay (http://img220.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture6ki8.png) . However, our old friends Bristol Rovers saw us out of another competition as we went out 1-0 (http://img521.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture7cs1.png) in Round Two, meeting the boards expectations. Meanwhile in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy we beat Colchester on penalties (http://img186.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture8mn0.png) in the second round after a bye in round one, before crashing out 2-1 (http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture9yt5.png) to Northampton Town (an old bogey team of mine) due to a 90th minute goal, but once again met the boards aim.

The New Year saw us out of all the cups and we were able to concentrate on the league and survival. In fact what actually happened was a fantastic run of results that saw us rocket into the play-off places. We did bottle it a bit and went seven without a win before finding our feet again and continuing on our merry way to finishing 5th in the league (http://img217.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture10tk6.png). I was delighted as it had looked hit or miss as to whether we'd drop out of the division let alone jump out the top! Our play-off match up saw us take on Millwall at Central Park in the first leg (http://img215.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture11qc1.png) . A credible 2-2 draw gave us every chance in the return fixture at the New Den. However, we were unable to ever really recover from an early goal and lost the second leg (http://img212.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture12td8.png) 3-2, going out 5-4 on aggregate.

So our play-off luck finally ran out, having won in the previous two adventures we couldn't make it a third consecutive play-off success. Not to worry, we overachieved this season again and I'm pleased enough with the on field performance of the club.

Off the pitch our players are starting to think they are bigger than the club, and whilst in Maidstone's case they may be right, it's still quite frustrating. Both my first choice centre backs announced they wanted to leave and my right back also got the hump. The right back, Ryan Clark (http://img218.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture13wt6.png), has agreed to join League Two Exeter City for £100k at the end of the season and I'm just waiting for Chris Couzens (http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture14ee7.png) to make up his mind as to where he will join on a free. The other centre back, Ryan Brown (http://img85.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture15vi9.png) has decided to stay, however he has really isn't up to League One standard and I'll be letting him leave in the summer anyway. Talking of transfers, I finally purchased a player. Michael Collins (http://img86.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture16tp8.png) joined for £170k from Liverpool just before the transfer deadline as we were struggling with injuries. He didn't really get going until the final run in when he got a bit of form, but I think might be able to do the job next season.

Financially (http://img212.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture17fh3.png) we had another good year, as we hit the £3m mark. With this cash I'm hoping the club will continue to develop the training and youth facilities and one day build a ground in Maidstone, instead of ground sharing over in Sittingbourne.

One thing I will take a lot from this season is my work being recognised by the rest of the footballing world, as I was offered the West Bromich Albion job (http://img138.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture1qd9.png) .

In all, a great year. Obviously disappointed not to have reached the Play-off Final, but delighted to have made the play-offs in the first place. Cups did OK in, not as well as the previous year but then we needed to concentrate on the league this year. My aims for the Maidstone United in 2015/16 are as follows:
1. Finish in the top half - I think we overachieved this season and as a result I'll be happy if we get a top half finish, not necessarily in the play-offs.
2. 7,500 average gate. We averaged 7,387 in the league this season, so to be able to break that barrier would be great. This increase in attendances I hope will allow me to work on;
3. Build own ground - We still play at Sittingbourne's ground, and I'd like to pressure the board into building our own in the town of Maidstone itself. Once I've achieved this I'll be happy!
4. Reach the FA Cup Third Round - It'd be nice to play a Premiership or Championship team in the FA Cup.
5. Orlando Roberts (http://img220.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture28zi9.png) to 'make it' - He's been called up to the Welsh National team several times, but hasn't quite won his first cap yet. However, there are several clubs after him so I want him to get his cap at Maidstone or sell him for over a million and thus 'making it'.

Come on the Stones!

Started again as North Ferriby.

Need a judgement on this though

Playing my Chelmsford game I noticed that North Ferriby got promoted to the Blue Square North in 2015. I kept a save game.

I have started the challenge from this save game with a new manager..

Is this a viable start to the challenge?

I'm sure the training/youth will take up a big proportion of the bank balance but I'm happy. Now I just need to find some central defenders.

As per the rules outlined on page 1 of this thread, in Dafuge's Challenge you need to set past experience to "Sunday League Footballer"

Your current "continental" reputation indicates you haven't done that.

If you still have the save from before choosing your team or becoming manager then go back to it and create a new manager.

He ended that first season back on loan with us scoring 38 goals.

Couldnt resist another offer the following year, my initial bid was refused so I offered 20% and he is back for another season long loan. Looks like he is out of favour at the Reebok already so I may launch a cheeky attempt to resign him at the end of the season. Will get 50% discount on him due to a sell on clause I included. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Tiverton Town - 15/16 Championship - Season review

A dull and lifeless season by all accounts really. There is not a great deal not really mentioned in other posts to say about it.

We survived and in truth were never really threatened too much with being dragged into a relegation battle. In truth though we were by far the worst team in the division it was only the teams ability to set up in a way that was hard to beat and for the most part of the season we spent our time with 10 men behind the ball, hoofing it down field every chance we got and just waiting for it to come back.

Still there was a certain amount of pleasure in knowing we were the worst team yet capable of doing what was needed.

Tiverton Town - 16/17 Championship - Season review

Pre season saw quite a few of the players I had brought in early on leave. It was a sad season for me really, even if it did come a season later than it should have done. It is hard to let some go, these players had been with the club almost from day one of my time here and played a major part in the teams rise up the ladder of English football. It is a ruthless business after all though and I did what had to be done.

I chose to replace the outgoing players by promoting my entire Reserve team, after showing so much promise it was time to see just what they could do.

Transfers (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/93.jpg)

I wanted to make sure that I had some experiance in key areas so for the first time in several season players were brought in on loan to mix in with all the new youthful faces.

My wage bill significantly reduced I aimed to survive a few more season allowing my team to mature and building up my finances. What I got though was a little unexpected, from day one we looked like a team who could mix it with anybody in the division and on our day nobody would look forward to playing us.

We didn't reach the dizzy heights of promotion or playoffs but finishing the season in 8th and within touching distance of those golden ticket places has given me the belief I needed to have faith in my young team.

Table (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/91.jpg)
Graph (http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj319/BoyKeane/92.jpg)

Promises to be a good season a year older and with last years experiance, plus once more a few loan signings to steady the ship.

The new season could be our best yet http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I had the very same problem since the BSP when I got rid of my feeder club in hope of a better one and they have since refused to find another.

I have no feeder clubs either, they are willing to look but can never find a suitable club to be linked with. Is a real pain having to get my youngsters out on loan each year without one.

you can easily sign players. You can use the transfer centre and use the filters to find unattached, listed and other players. Then when you get staff in, they'll tell you precisely how bad your judgement is and the fact you've got 60+hoofers on trial who'd get beat by the local under-11's team. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Thanks for the advice - I've already started offering trials right and left. The media thinks this former Liverpool Star wants to join (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y204/Blackmama/PatrickBergerNews.jpg)

Always good to have a blend of youth and experience, although the average age of my sides for the first two seasons in BSN was about 20(!)

So asked my board for a stadium expansion, and they 'politely remind me that they do not own the ground and are therefore unable to expand it'. So unless the board fancy making a new one when I average just under 8000 I am stuck in Sittingbourne for some time to come with 8000 capacity...

I was so keen to sign players on free/trial over the off season that I ended up with a squad of 40 and only minimal improvement to the top end of the team http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Got great depth though..lol

LOL, that's what I did this season, ended up bringing in 17 players on F/T...

However by January my predicament was so bad it was time to hit the loans again...

5 games to go 15 points clear of the relegation battle. It worked, just!

Margate - BSS - Season 08/09

I think this season is gonna be somewhat easier than expected. I asked for a parent club and got Southampton.

They wanted to loan me two young players who unfortunately were americans and required work permits. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif Why did they offer them then?? Well I send my scout to the Southampton training ground and he made reports of all their reserve players.

After his advice I have until now (juli 23rd) loaned 11 players from their squad. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Margate = Southampton 2

Some of these players have league one ability according to my coach.

NICE

Not sure if anyone has had unusually "abnormal" Premier League or Champions League winner.

In my game, Liverpool has won every Premier Legue title from 07/08 to 12/13.

Also, Olympiakos won the 2010 Champions League and Lyon has been in past 3 finals, winning 1.

Season Review - Fergus Alexson, Marine, 10/11, BSP

A season of the good, the bad and the downright ugly began in earnest bringing in 13 players on free transfers to strengthen the backbone of the team and flesh it out for an assault on the BSP.

A bad start, losing 3-1 away to Rochdale seemed to be a promise of things to come, but three days later, the BPNs whipping boys for the season, St. Alban's were trounced 4-0 and things might not be that bad.

But they were.

A 9 game winless run saw the team plummet, saved only by a mini-revival winning 5 of seven to send them shooting back up to 9th.

A 5-2 loss away to eventual playoff winners Dagenham tho sent the team in to a tailspin and sent the Mariners crashing down in to the relegation zone. for the New Year.

Redknapp-esque wheeling and dealing finally saw Scot Spencer come back 'home' on loan and he single-handedly turned the season round, scoring 20 in 21 outtings. The team lost only five games from the turn of the New Year, 2 before Spencer arrived back.

Guess precisely when he arrived...
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh42/FergusAlex/greatscot.jpg

I really cannot emphasize just how much Spencer coming back turned the season around for us...
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh42/FergusAlex/spencer1011.jpg

The turn around in fortunes gave us the impetus to pus up to eleventh, only a 'few' points shy of the play offs.

Table
http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh42/FergusAlex/BSP1011.jpg

Conclusion:

Really enjoyable season, if not successful - just for running the whole emotional thing of being unable to buy a win and turning it round having the best run in. Ever.

Lyon are one of the most under valued teams in Europe, before Rangers went there and beat them this year it had been a long time since anyone had won there. They have won it twice in my game.

Have had one really dodgy European Champions League winner though..... Chelsea in 2011 http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif must be a bug in the game everyone knows it will never happen.

Yep - guilty here as well http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Always get scout reports on players on frees, decide they are not good enough for me, forget to take them off my shortlist, some time later see a news item that another club is thinking of offering (or has offered) a contract and then I think well maybe he would be useful to have as backup and I don't really want club X to get him for free so go and try and sign him myself http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Season Review - XaW, Hendon, 08/09 BBS

I've finally completed the first season in charge of Hendon in Blue Square South. I started with one player in squad, namely Bontcho Guentchev (http://bildr.no/view/143745), aged 44. I started building a squad as quick as possible to get atleast some players in before the season started. I got in some staff quickly, including this (http://bildr.no/view/143747) guy as assman. I asked the chairman for a parent club, and got Crystal Palace, this saved my season.

I ended on 4th place in the league (http://bildr.no/view/143749), but got promoted after playoff. The playoff final was rather convincing against Merthyr Tydfil (http://bildr.no/view/143750).

The important players

The players who were vital to the success this season is;
Nicky Eyre (http://bildr.no/view/143753) - Even though his stast doesn't look all to good, he has been pure quality to my team.
James Dayton (http://bildr.no/view/143755) - He has been used as a striker, since my team haven't quite that many good ones.
David Martin (http://bildr.no/view/143758) - The left winger has provided assist en masse! And scored quite a bit along the way.
Charlie Sheringham (http://bildr.no/view/143760) - I got him about half way in the season, and scored like theres no tomorrow!

David Martin became player of the season with Charlie Sheringham on second and James Dayton third!

All in all this has been a very entertaining season, and I'm looking forward to the next one in Blue Square Premier!

38! Awesome. The whole thing could work out really well then. Still saving on the wages and if he whines/doesn't perform then you don't have to worry too much, because he'll be whining to the parent club and you can drop him without any real consequence. And the 50% discount...could be very profitable overall http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I am in a similar position. The original stadium they built was 8,000, since then it has been expanded by 9,000 to just under 17,000. The problem is it took 3 loans and the expansions cost more than the original stadium did. My board are clueless http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Yeah the loans are killing me. I'm paying out 110k a month for the two loans. Which means the extra money from attendences is pretty much going straight out on the loan and wages. My wages are within budget but the board seem to have increased the budget but not take into account that combined with the loans that we're not going to make any money. We're losing about 200k a month at the moment.

It's okay for the moment as we've got a balance of around 4.5 mil. But it won't last forever and there's not much I can do. Even I halved the wage bill I'd only save about 30k a month. Bah, it'll work out in the end. I've got people sniffing around my best central midfielder again so if they'll pay the 5million then they can have him.

Good luck with your next season xx2olegendxx, sounds like you might have a chance at cracking the league

Thanks I sure hope so anyway.

We made a decent start, 10 games in and we just hit the top of the table. A little misleading since we had a nice easy start with the fixtures but they can still be tricky those bottom half teams and we have the points on the board.

I am just about on top of the financial situation now, I realised my reserve team was costing me 22K a week. That has been taken care of now and the squad has been trimmed down the last few years.

The board must have put ticket prices up or something this year as well because I am getting 350K gate recipts for home league game compared to 220K last season.

As per the rules outlined on page 1 of this thread, in Dafuge's Challenge you need to set past experience to "Sunday League Footballer"

Your current "continental" reputation indicates you haven't done that.

Margate - BSS - 08/09 - start of season 1 update

Finally the season has started and with a 3-0 victory away to H&W we are feeling confident.

The preseason in season 1 has as always been frustating at times when footballers not worthy to mow the lawn at Hartsdown Park refuse to come. Thankfully my prayers were heard and Southampton came to my rescue.

23 players in (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y204/Blackmama/Transfercentrestartofseason.jpg)

11 players on loan incl this guy (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y204/Blackmama/InigiIdiakez.jpg) who have notched up over 400 apps in La Liga. He'll do just fine.
