Mag Man - Tonbridge Angels - 10/11

I hadnt played much with my Margate team due to lack of time so with the patch i thought i would start again. It turns out I holidayed for 3 seasons rather than 2 as i mentioned earlier. By doing this a few random teams have popped up!!! I was hoping for Maidstone United but reloaded so many times and never got them so went with Tonbridge Angels as there still local and i know people who used to play for them.
Profile Picture (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v371/matthew_18_margot/Picture1.png)
Dafuge let me know if its ok play with these, they follow the criteria but I have holidayed for longer just to see what comes up.

just a quick question.. I have been in league one for 2 years and now heading for promotion. But I can only have 2 scouts my board wont allow more and cant scout outside united kingdom.. is there a way to improve that or it is only improved by gaining promotions???

SSC, my advice to you at this stage is trial as many as you can. Don't expect to be able to get staff members in who are awesome because well there are few. Just go for 1 year contracts for people who can do a job for you.

At least then you can start to scout & have a realistic view on who may be interested in signing for you. Scour the top tier teams & who they released in the summer as you can pick a few players who have potential to be league one players for nothing & they're a good base to start your squad with.

My main piece of advice is ensure your strikers & midfielders have alot of pace, this is key for creating chances as they'll pick up lots of loose balls in & around the centre circle. If you can get a parent club & take a few loans on it's a big help, to be honest everyone has there favourite players but there are literally hundreds who can do the job for you & it's entirely upto you to decide who you want to use.

Good luck http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

I suspect that when you get to the Championship you'll be allowed to scout Europe and hopefully have more staff.

Have you tried to hire more scouts? Soometimes the board say you cna only have a small number of staff but you can in fact get 1 or 2 more if you're lucky.

mag man
That is a valid team. When asked before about being sacked and then taking a newly promoted team with no BSN/BSS experience dafuge said it was OK.

Hopefully you kept a savegame of Tonbridge Angels from just before you took over, I suspect that a couple of other people would be interested in the save.

Yeh have tried that but the board always cancels the transfer.. that means I'll have to get promoted, currently I'm first but with 1 game more than the others. 14 games left

Just holidaying now, hoping to get lucky with some low rep teams, but seems unlikely.

Thanks to Spurs1979 for the saves, unfortunately I don't really fancy managing any of those clubs!

Bluesbots Halesowen Challenge 2010/11

And so Halesowen have finally achieved promotion from the BSN after finishing 1st.
Table 10/11 (http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e174/bluesbot/table1011.jpg)

The Yeltz managed to finish a massive 29 points above their nearest rivals - a season which was helped by a influx of loan signing form new parent club Birmingham City although the manager was pleased that it was his own tactics that helped them win the title.
Originally manager Bluesbot was against having so many loanees but having played and lost to Nuneaton early in the season the manager was shocked to see that Nuneaton themselves had 10 loan stars at the time and by the end of the season had loaned a massive 25 players throughout the season.
Halesowen Squad (http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e174/bluesbot/squad1011.jpg)

Halesowen kept trust in the staff that had mostly been there from the 1st season under Bluesbot
Staff (http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e174/bluesbot/staff1011.jpg)

And all of them have been asked to contine for the following season

Bluesbot has also shown his skill in the transfer market by getting players for mostly free spendung just 19k whilst amassing a very respectable 425k in return.
Transfers in/out (http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e174/bluesbot/transfers1011.jpg)

A superb run in the FA trophy also saw Bluesbot lead his side to the final against BSP side Southport
It looked to be in the bag with Halesowen leading 2-1 with 88mins played, However Southport equalised to take the tie into extra time where they scored the deciding goal early on
tropy final (http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e174/bluesbot/trophyfinal1011.jpg)

BSN Team Stats (http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e174/bluesbot/bsnteamstats1011.jpg)

BSN Players Stats (http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e174/bluesbot/bsnplayerstats1011.jpg)

As for next season it will be a tough one especially due to the loan restrictions and signings will have to be made to ensure the clubs BSP survival.
Money should not be too much of an issue the club has a balance of 425k with another 100k due to the sale of midfielder Anthony Bruce to MK dons.

Signings from the 1st season Serge Makofo and Totti continue to play a major role in the clubs success, however time could be up for Shane Paul who is the only member of the side still to be at the club from before Bluesbots tenure.

Bluesbot has also signed a contract to continue managing the club until 2015

Attendances at Halesowen rose from 703 to 707 on average which is something the club needs to look at during the coming season

I might holiday 24 months & see if I can get some unused teams up for people to try, probably not today though as I'm halfway through my first season sitting top of the league & playing really well.

If only I had a goalkeeper who wasn't abysmal I'd probably be unbeaten in the league & with a tremendous goal difference, alas I don't & the muppett I use now is so dodgey I think he's taking a few bungs!

I really dont know what to do. Despite being in my first season, I am really getting a feel for Whitby and am currently in the play-offs with 8 games to go.

I have installed the new patch but dont know whether to start again ot just keep going?

I'm doing this now, after quite a few failed attempts at seeing a team I actually want to manage, holidaying until the end of 2009 to see what is available then. Also, I made sure AFC Wimbledon & Chelmsford City were already up so they weren't going to get in the way next season!

Somehow I have survived my board takeover (it was just a director becoming chairman) and asked in December about a parent club.

Have to say I like my new chairman, he came back with a choice of Stevenage or Crystal Palace, and obviously I have chosen Palace.

Just into January and the mighty Hemel Hempstead are up to 8th in the BSS with a vary international looking squad (only 5 English). All foreigners have been trialled first and proof can be provided if needed.

It might be a combination of reputation and finances at the club.

I wish that the limit on staff wasn't there. Surely if you have space on your wage budget to get another guy in then you should be allowed to.
I guess that it's a little different with scouts as they do have expenses on top of their wages.

well another season passes by and King's Lynn are starting to look a more together team. With just over half a dozen transfers (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/4thtransfers.jpg) in i looked to strengthen the back line in what was to be a tough first season in the Blue Square Premiership.

Getting a prolific striker was a priority but never happened, my parent club Norwich sold Martin and would not loan back either of Campbell or Renton after i had made them into goal scoring successes in the previous season. So i was left with just about this squad (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/4thsquad.jpg) apart from the likes of Reid, Schwarz, Hilton, Gailbraith, Grant and Wright as they are this seasons signings so far. I have since terminated my link with Norwich and my board provided Charlton as my new parent club.

As i said it would be a struggle this season and tipped to finish 24th/24..i set my sights on achieving the avoid relegation prediction, thus giving me just over 5.5k a week to spend on wages. The season was a bit patchy and we never rose above 12th, with a good start, a mediocre middle and a poor season finale saw us drop to 16th (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/4thtable.jpg). Not a bad start i think.

My finances (http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r129/scampos17/4thfinances.jpg) exceeded my expectation dramatically which in one month saw me take just over 200k profit. So i'm sitting pretty in the finance department but my board still won't give me a transfer budget for next season, i may haggle to drop my wage bill to get me some cash to bring in the elusive prolific striker i desperately need.

Going to get a few new saves now but these will be from the 2nd season, already got Ramsgate on my 2nd reload so looks positive as I'd never seen them before in the 1st season holiday game.

Those links above worked for me Nick, not sure why they arent for you, let me know if they still come up with an error I'll re-try them somewhere else.

This save is after 2 seasons of holiday so you'll start a season after everyone else in gametime but it doesn't really matter as the challenge basically evolves around regens for anyway, I'll upload a few more later on also. Spurs1979, if you still have that Staines save could you send me it as I really wanted them. Also if either one of you get Frickley to come up then could you let me know as they were part of my 4 teams I wanted to be.

Heybridge Swifts 2018-19 League 2

The swifts first adventure into league football was always going to be interesting. The close season succesful Henry leaving for 500K to Ipswich and Brown to Wycombe for 250K, in there place came midfield dynamo Tucker, creative Swift, utility Mcdonough, and cover full backs Miller, Vaughan and Burns. Up front Gus Speight arrived to add a 4th striker to the ranks even though only 1 target man led the line. Also returning for a second season was super keeps Robinson and wing wizard Eustace from parent club Fulham.

All in all i was happy with my squad but two games in and two defeats as opposition strikers scored 4 and 3 in consecutive games to leave us struggling at the foot of the table.

We improved nicely and despite going out of every cup at the first stage(two of them on penalties) after 17 games we were nicely placed in the play-offs. A tough run pre christmas against top sides saw us falter slightly and then came some tough decisions. Striker Young definately my best player statistically if not in terms of performances was allowed to leave for 500k+add ons.
transfers (http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p20/shaggy61/transfers2019.jpg)
With this income keeper Robinson signed up for 160k and Pratt bought in more midfield cover. The second half of the season continued apace and the swifts cemented themselves in the promotion positions, and with 8 games to go the team were in 2nd 7 points clear of 4th place Luton. However our next 4 games were against the sides place 1,3,4,5 in the table. Victories were now in short supply but defeats were also few and far between and victory in the penultimate game of the season gave the swifts fans back to back promotions, despite getting a massive 20 points less this season.

Next season proves to be tough despite a fair amount of money available our wages at 15k will exceed our income available from the paltry 3000 capacity ground. The board have promised to do something about it and continue to improve the training and youth team potential. Lets hope to achieve something and we'll see what continues to happen.

Spurs1979, if you still have that Staines save could you send me it as I really wanted them. Also if either one of you get Frickley to come up then could you let me know as they were part of my 4 teams I wanted to be.

Chippenham, Boreham Wood, Staines or Frickley.

Thanks.

Don't worry about either of these anymore. I decided against it. I'm just going to stick to the original regulations. Thanks for the help though. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Well after holidaying about 50 times i managed to get saves with Whitby, Hornchurch, Hendon, Ilkeston and Prescot Cables, but i'll try holidaying 1 more year and seeing if i get anyone more interesting, otherwise i think i'll go for Hornchurch or Prescot Cables.

I was failing miserably in my Halesowen game so thought i'd start again with the new patch.

Maybe the bigger clubs being promoted is giving the smaller clubs more chance of promotion?

I think it is partly down to luck. Remembering that in a second holiday season there may not be 6 eligble clubs each time to chose from, as clubs that were relegated in that first season could bounce straight back up, and could also have had even higher reps than the ones that came up in the second season. (If that didnt make sense I will try again!)

Even into the third and fourth season when I was holidaying there were different teams coming up each time, so I think it does depend on the reps of teams left in the bottom league and the reps of teams relegated.

Funnily enough it was quite rare for the originally relegated teams to come back up, more often you'd get the next tier of teams i.e. Billericay, Margate, Methyr Tydfil.

From what I can see rep only changes when the club plays matches, which means just a few FA Cup matches each season.

Hastings have gone back down to 600.

So could going on holiday for say 10 seasons make a big difference?

Hemel Hemstead started with 800 and are now down to 796, so I don't think rep changing is going to make the difference, it'll depend on if there are any big clubs in the division that get promoted 95% of the time (AFC Wimbledon etc)

Hope this works...

The patch is updated, so I'm off to Cossham Street, Mangotsfield (commonly known as "Field"! Big Grin )

Manager Profile

Let's take the new Man(gotsfield) Utd off to take on the big boys... eventually.

Well, no players and no staff meant I needed to go on a (free transfer) spending spree, and it seems to have worked

3 wins (http://img91.imageshack.us/my.php?image=3rdwinnj8.jpg)

This made it 3 wins in a row, after a decent set of friendy results (mostly draws and wins against non-league sides)

I think another reason Tonbridge Angels were promoted was due to the fact that Gillingham were there parent club and sent them players which could have helped.

Hemel Hempstead - BSS - 2008/09 End of Season Update

Well I was appointed manager to a club with a few under 16 players and a want away chairman. It took 2 takeover attempts before the takeover was completed and my new chairman in december gave me Crystal Palace as a parent club. I only loaned 4 players from them, and already had 3 loans in from elsewhere.

I decided to take a different approach to finding my players by trialling a ridiculous amount of unattached foreign players, and also signing everyone's favourite Bulgarian coach, to get the Bulgarian knowledge.

I ended up with a team made up of next to no English footballers although I think most must have had English as a second Nationality.

The start of the season, I was predicting to be hard, after a 3-8 and a 3-14 defeat in pre-season, however I was pleasantly surprised with winning the first 2 games of the season, and then hitting varying runs of form throughout the season.

We ended up eventually in 7th place just 3 points off the playoffs.

1) Sack existing ass man and find a better one
2) Get at least 1 momre better scout
3) Remove most of my deadwood from the squad and sort out wage bill
4) Sign some good players
5) Raid parent club for more loans!
6) Finish in top half again ideally

Matt6 Season Review - Hitchin Town - 09/10

The tricky second season

Pre-Season
A few new additions. These included the signing of goalkeeper James McKeown who was on loan the previous season. Also Lino Goncalves joined on loan from Fulham for a second season. A slightly higher profile signing was winger and forward Trevor Benjamin who was signed on a free transfer.
Media Prediction: 24th

August
Not a good month at all, this could be a very hard season indeed. Staying up this season would be a real achievement.
Stats: W0 D1 L5
Position: 23rd

September
The bad run rolled over into the start of this month, however a change of tactic brought a change of fortune, with a run of wins including a 9-2 victory over Dorchester.
Stats: W4 D1 L2
Position: 17th

October
A very inconsistent month with big wins and big defeats.
Stats: W3 D0 L4
Position: 16th

November
A horrible month.
Stats: W0 D0 L3
Position: 19th
Awards: 2nd Place Player of the Month, Lino Goncalves

December
The team is really struggling to get a run of form going, a bad end to the month with a record 6-0 defeat to Rochdale.
Stats: W3 D0 L3
Position: 18th

January
Another inconsistent month
Stats: W2 D2 L2
Position: 18th

February
A month with patchy form again. The month ended with two loan signings, both from Crystal Palace, Jamie Smith and David Pilgrim.
Stats: W3 D0 L4
Position: 17th

March
A brilliant month, including a 4-3 win over arch rivals Stevenage. A clean sweep in the awards for the month summed it up. Jamie Smith had a brilliant first month at Hitchin, scoring 5 goals in 5 games with an average rating of 7.80.
Stats: W4 D0 L1
Position: 17th
Awards: Manager of the Month
Player of the Month: Jamie Smith
Young Player of the Month: Lino Goncalves

April
An indifferent month. Hitchin’s position was confirmed as 17th with one game to go. With goalkeeper Dean Lyness having a particularly good month, with an average rating of 8.00.
Stats: W2 D0 L3
Position: 17th
Awards: Player of the Month: Dean Lyness
2nd Young player of the Month: Sean Taylforth
3rd Goal of the Month: Lino Goncalves

May
With one game left and Hitchin’s league position already confirmed this month wasn’t too important.
Stats: W0 D0 L1
Position: 17th

After much speculation in the media, I signed a new two year contract.

Summary
Final League Position: 17th
Fan’s Player of the Season: Sean Taylforth

I'm pretty sure its because after a few seasons the big clubs such as AFC Wimbledon have been promoted, so it gives different clubs a chance of promotion, though the clubs that were relegated a year earlier have a good chance of going straight back up.

Thought I'd start the season off with a nice easy tour against some of the weaker teams from Northern Ireland.

Lost 1-3, 0-4 and 0-5 http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I am starting to think that friendlies against teams of grey players are completely pointless and dont give you any real indication of the season ahead.

I keep losing in friendlies but my league form was fine last season, and should be similar this (once I finish losing in friendlies)

Hitchin. Conference South. August 2008.

So after waiting not so patiantly for the patch I assume that I am gonna romp this league and bla bla bla.

Wrong http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

Pre-season.

Colchester scored 7 goals against us http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif.

Farnborough & Hornchurch both scored 4 against us http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

Our feeder club Beaconsfield, (I have a very strange memory of playing rugby in the snow there), scored 3 against us http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

Even our Reserves got in on the action scoring once as we managed at least to defeat them 2-1.

Weymouth also scored once against us, but we somehow scored 3 times to record our only pre-season victory against anyone other than our Reserves.

(H) Hitchin 0 Havant 1.

(H) Hitchin 0 Thurrock 3.

(A) Hitchin 1 AFC Wimbledon 2.

(A) Hitchin 1 Welling 1.

(H) Hitchin 1 Welling 2.

(A) Hitchin 1 Salisbury 4.

We've conceded 3 goals from corners, 2 penalties and had a player sent off.

In return we have hardly won a corner never mind about scored from won, blazed a penalty over the bar and failed to win against 10 man Wimbledon.

With a 16 year old between the sticks, another on the left flank, and a 3rd in central midfield, it looks like it could be a long hard season unless my scout pulls his finger out and gives me some names to check out.

Im out of all the cups though, ecxept the FA trophy.

5 Friendlies, all against teams in lower divisions than the BSS. The results are

Hemel 1 - 4 Marine
Hemel 1 - 2 Chasetown
Hemel 1 - 4 Ramsgate
Hemel 0 - 4 Wingate & Finchley
Hemel 5 - 5 Maidstone

Please note not all the above were home matches, was just easier to write this way.

First 3 results of my new league campaign

Dorchester 0 - 0 Hemel
Hemel 5 - 1 Basingstoke
Eastbourne Boro 0 - 3 Hemel

The friendlies already had quite a few of my loan signings that are too good for the BSS, and a few real signings that are better than the BSS.

Combination of some new people, some that werent happy with the game originally/beta patch and have tried again, and others that have purposefully restarted with the patch for varying reasons.

I had no intention of restarting with the patch, until my 18 and a half season career came to an end at Stamford due to poor form (no bugs, entirely my fault).

Never been so tempted to put my fist through the computer screen.

Just managed to take Chelmsford from position 2 to position 15 in league 2 in a matter of 6 weeks or so.

Before saving yesterday I was on fire. Today I cannot even score.

Only thing saving me at the moment is a FA Cup tie at home to Man City which is being televised. Hopefully it will generate some cash.

I'm not going up this season despite having 6 players in on loan from Chelsea. Maybe thats the problem - next season I'll only get 5!

I know this is nothing related to this challenge but I'm playing as Barrow so it's similar terms with the same rules minus the holiday bit. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Just to follow up on the grey teams beating us convincingly theme. I just finished pre-season, here are the results:

Eastwood(Greys) - Lost 5-0
Blackpool(Non-greys) - Lost 4-2
Carlisle(Non-greys) - Lost 2-1
Ards(Greys) - Lost 3-1
Salisbury(Non-greys) - Won 1-0

The 2 games against the greys were dominated by the greys, Eastwood being 5-0 up at half time. The other 3 games were quite a lot better, even the Blackpool game who are 4 divisions above me.

These grey teams are quite 'super'.

Thanks for reading. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Whitby Town - 2008/09 - BSN - Mid-season update

Well, now seems as good a time as any to update everyone on the goings-on at Turnbull Road.

After what can only be described as a marvellous start to the season, during which Whitby went on a nine-match winning run in the first 11 games, things took a turn for the worse. After losing the club's three big-name loan signings to two-month injuries within three games, fortunes were shattered by a resounding 3-0 home defeat to Dulwich Hamlet in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round. League form suffered according, the following seven games yielding just one win, and four defeats. However, early season performances were enough to keep Whitby in the playoff places, and they dropped out for only one game.

A 2-1 win at home to Bath in the FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round signalled an upturn in performances at Turnbull Road, and the returns of Craddock (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/CraddockProfile01-01-09.jpg), Goulon (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/GoulonProfile01-01-09.jpg) and Owens (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/OwensProfile01-01-09.jpg), along with the new loan capture of Hutchinson (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/HutchinsonProfile01-01-09.jpg) helped Whitby to refind their goalscoring, and clean sheet-keeping form. The end of November and December saw four wins in five games, including a 6-0 drubbing (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/6-0Hinckley26-12-08.jpg) of then-third placed Hinckley, sees Whitby sitting pretty in second place in the league (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/LeagueTable26-12-08.jpg) at the turn of the year.

Whitby Town
Blue Square North: 2nd, P23, W13, D5, L5, F51, A 21, Pts 44.

F.A. Cup: Lost in 2nd Qualifying Round (Dulwich Hamlet)
Setanta Shield North: Lost in First Round on penalties (Marine)
F.A. Trophy: Won in 3rd Qualifying Round (Bath), lost in First Round (Salisbury)

Not to bring up a subject probably dead, but was there ever a ruling on using a retain file or not? If there was, I apologize, I haven't checked the forum in a while. If its OK, I think I'll use the retain file I made for the 3 lower leagues. I'm going on holiday now, but I can always start over if need be. If anyone wants the retain file I made, I'll add it here:

I did read that, but I'm not including any addt'l nations, just the players on the teams that should be there already. We had a retain file for last year's challenge, I just didn't know if dafuge had decided if a retain file is needed, as so many teams don't have any players to start.

Premier League:

After an up-and-down start to the season, and a big slump in November/December, the team's performances picked up after the new year and we comfortably finished in 9th place, a big improvement on last year's 15th place finish. Gareth Mitchell finally hit goalscoring form in his 2nd season at the club, and those goals helped a lot. However, we also leaked a lot of goals so I'll be strengthening the defence during the pre-season

UEFA Cup:

I was really disappointed with our UEFA Cup run. After easily making the group stages, draws against Bezanija from Serbia, and Grasshopper Zurich cost us dearly. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon13.gif

FA Cup:

A reasonable run in the FA Cup came to an abrupt halt with a 6-0 thrashing at home by eventual Premier League winners Middlesbrough. I have no idea where the hell this huge defeat suddenly came from, as we had beaten West Ham 4-0 the week before.

League Cup:

We did a bit better in the League Cup, making it to the Semi-Finals. But, once again, we ran into Middlesbrough but this time went down to a creditable 6-5 agg defeat.

The Board, etc.:

I hate my board. I'll be going into my third season in the Premier League with absolutely no feeder clubs, and still a 10k capacity stadium. I had a bit more money in the bank at the end of this season than I did last year, but they still won't build a new stadium. I was hoping that this was maybe a bug and that the patch had fixed it, but no dice.

Welp I was unable to play for about 3 weeks due to lack of time. But now Im back. Although 1 hr back into my Matlock save I was sacked lol. Reloaded up a clean Matlock save and started over tonight. This game is rolling so far. Undefeated the first 10 league matches so far and sitting atop of the table. There was a real crazy match. Here are a couple screens:
Game Overview (http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd109/goaliemanpat/HucknallvMatlockOverview.png)
Game Ending Tactic (http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd109/goaliemanpat/HucknallvMatlockMatlock_Tactics.png)

Down 1 man 1 minute into the match along with going down 1-0. Tie it up and then have another player sent off 3 minutes later so I am down two men. Manage to take the lead. Hold them off for 30 minutes. Lose another player in hte 90th. Heatbreak though as they score with the last kick of the ball to draw. I also had to sub my main central midfielder in the 12th minute due to injury. Winger was also injured in the 70th but had to stay on due to lack of subs. Down 5 starters the next match. Luckily able to draw that one.

If its OK, I think I'll use the retain file I made for the 3 lower leagues. I'm going on holiday now, but I can always start over if need be. If anyone wants the retain file I made, I'll add it here:

England Lower League Retain File (http://files.filefront.com/engddt/;9110064;/fileinfo.html)

I hope I got it right, I haven't tried it yet.

From the first post:

"No additional players from any nation should be loaded" </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I did read that, but I'm not including any addt'l nations, just the players on the teams that should be there already. We had a retain file for last year's challenge, I just didn't know if dafuge had decided if a retain file is needed, as so many teams don't have any players to start. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Retain player files have never been allowed for the same reason as the editor. I know there is a good reason for using it, but it is much easier to have a total ban on stuff like this.

After 17 games in the 2010/2011 season in the BSP i'm lying in 15th place on 21 points. I really wanted to push for a playoff place this season, but unless form improves dramatically it'll be a mid table finish at best.

Maybe this (http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q102/stuartuk75/8-0.jpg) will help. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

I think that using the retain english lower league players would be fine. It's meaning that the teams we play with have players. It's not really realistic having teams that have no players.

I like to have some starting players to work with.

I don't see the problem with having that one only.

Tiverton Town - 2008/2009 - Blue Square South - Season Review

First season done and it exceeded all my (and my board's) expectations.

Table (http://img139.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tablemz1.jpg)

I'm actually pretty shocked over how well it went and I was waiting for the famous drop in form to come, but as shown in the graph (http://img233.imageshack.us/my.php?image=graphwn4.jpg) it never came.

Squad (http://img250.imageshack.us/my.php?image=squadhz9.jpg)

The loanees were incredible, as expected, but the rest of the team also played better than I could've dreamed.

Some of the non-loanee stars include:

Lewis Edge (http://img206.imageshack.us/my.php?image=lewisedgegg9.jpg) - Don't let his average rating fool you, this guy saved us more times than I dare to count.
Phil Doren (http://img516.imageshack.us/my.php?image=phildoranrn3.jpg) - He played like a god on the left flank, especially in the cups.
Danny North (http://img141.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dannynorthtp1.jpg) - 26 goals in 25(3) games speak for itself.

The team reached the semi final in the FA Trophy but the other cup runs were pretty average.

Counting the league and the cups' we only lost 7(!) games all season, scoring a total of 139 goals (2.5 p/m) and only conceding 42 (0.8 p/m).

Now let's bring on the BSP and see if we can replicate this performance for next season http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Table (http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/2548/11242007141020qy1.jpg)

Well.. did great most of the season as i would have guessed.
I got in quite some few class players for the club, and only one loan from Millwall.
I havent changed my tactics as my team seems to be playing really great footy most of the time.

Unfortunaly it wasnt enough to beat Rochdale in the playoff final, and i will hate them forever now http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My Best players:

Arthur (http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/2764/11242007141405ww2.jpg)
Great play once again, my best player second season around! and this season its not on loan but on a permanant deal

Mulligan (http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/9075/11242007141542iv3.jpg)
Great play in the back. not the greatest attributes, but he does a great job.

Pitman (http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/4193/11242007141641so8.jpg)
Does a good job mostly, and scores some important goals. Im playing with only 1 striker, so he has done a pretty decent job.

Nelson (http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/5653/11242007141756wa1.jpg)
Good play in the back. he looks like hes going to be a decent signing.

Payne (http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/4556/11242007141829ep7.jpg)

Not the best season from him, but i have big hopes for him indeed!

The Cups:
I went out in first round of FA cup to a greyed out Oxford City
I made it to the 4th round in both FA trophy and setanta.

Overview (http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/1564/11242007142100ut4.jpg)

Finance (http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/6203/11242007142148vj5.jpg)
Great finances! this is mainly because of my okay cup run, and my gate reciept where i have earned 1 mio !!!! avr. attendance was 2131, really nice!

Transfers (http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/4412/11242007142347al2.jpg)

For the new season i might look for a faster striker as i think its key when only playing one upfront.
I will look to strenghten my midfield to as i had big problems in late season because of injuries.
I hope i dont have to go trhough a playoff again, so my hope for the season is to win the league, hehe http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, given a rather luxurious wage budget of around £11,000 p/w I tried my best to sign players who would challenge for the title. I set my initial expectations at a respectable league position, but an unbeaten league run from the 3rd game of the season which stretched right to the end secured automatic promotion for the Wombles!

I managed to surprise the board further by reaching the 2nd round in the FA Cup, thanks to a 2-0 home giantkilling against League 1 Notts County! I also reached the 4th round of the Setanta Shield when the board expected the 3rd Round. Only disappointment was going out in the 1st round of the FA Trophy thanks to a tough tie away to Torquay.

My one major worry is the finances, while I stuck inside the budgets for the whole season, my finances are now at -£200,000, which is a great deal of debt to accumulate. Whether that's due to the majority of my side on full-time contracts I'm not sure, I'm just glad I didn't set my expectations higher as the debt could have been worse!

Witton 10/11 - BSP - Rodrigo De La Vega

A fairly hard slog of a season. We didn't dominate the league in any way resembling the way we had in the BSN. Which, is to be expected in a way.

Cup competitions were generally dissapointing. We made it into the second round of the FA Cup but under performed badly in the Trophy and Setanta Shield. Something which the board weren't quick to forget or forgive.

In the end though a couple of good players and a good run here and there meant we made it through to the playoffs.
League Table (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/season1011.jpg)

Semi Leg 1 V Halifax (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/halifaxplaysemi10.jpg)

I complained about a dodgy decision and was promptly banned for the second leg. Not the most brilliant of timing there. But I did deserve it I suppose.

Semi Leg 2 V Halifax (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/halifacsemiplayoff102.jpg)

Very tight but we squeezed through. Didn't exactly fill me with hope for the final though.

Final V Oxford (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/playofffinaloxford10.jpg)
Wooo! League 2 here we come.

The change came with two good bits of information.
Turning Pro (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/pro.jpg)
Finally! and...
Huddersfield (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/hudds.jpg)
The team I support are now my parent club!

The player of the season was, predictably,
Danny Ward (http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s121/peljam/Witton/dannyward10endseas.jpg)
Next Season

I've offloaded a couple of my backup players who aren't able to cut it any more. Which means I'm on the look out for an extra midfielder, defender and keeper to keep things balanced and covered.

I've told the board that we'll avoid relegation so my wage budget is reasonable. Hopefully that'll mean I can get some decent cover in.

I've patched and I'm going to carry on and see if it's okay http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Season 2008/09 Review - Tiverton Town in the Blue Square South

The media prediction was that I would finish 20th, after assembling something that resembled a squad I aimed for a top half finish.

Final League Table (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/league2507.jpg)
League Positions Graph (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/leaguepos2507.jpg)

Had a shaky start, but after my squad settled and I found the tactics that worked best the results started to go my way. My defensive record in the second half of the season was fantastic which saw me climb the table to snatch 2nd spot on the final day of the season on goal difference thanks to my 3-0 result being better than Dorchester's 3-2 result.

Squad (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/squad2507.jpg)
Transfers (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/transfers2507.jpg)

Along with the masses of free transfers, I was loaned two players from each of my two parent clubs, Exeter and Plymouth. Three of these players became key members of my first team.

Milo (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/milo2507.jpg)

On loan from League 1 Plymouth, he was the probably the best player in my team this season.

Reet (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/reet2507.jpg)

My top goalscorer for the season, signed on a free after being released by Mansfield. I thought the facegen haircuts were bad but takes it to a whole new level.

Fish (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/fish2507.jpg)

Probably my most promising looking signing, although he is a natural full back he spent most of the season on the wing.

Fraser (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y134/dafuge/fraser2507.jpg)

Had him on loan at Chippenham last time, this time I was able to sign him on a free transfer after they released him. He wasn't quite as effective as last time, but still a decent player for me.

Things look promising for Tivvy Town, they already have good youth facilities with a youth academy which may become useful. My attendances also look promising, I had the second highest average attendance in the league after AFC Wimbledon which could be something to do with the successful fan day I had earlier in the season.

Oh well, on to the dreaded playoffs again.

Just had a transfer embargo placed on the club due to ongoing takeover talks. Here's hoping the new owner isn't a complete moron.

Also, just got knocked out the Setanta Shield thanks to two 90th minute goals, turning a narrow 1-0 win into defeat. Agonisingly, I was trying to switch my tactics when the first went in to try and finish the game off.

Not only is he a great goal keeper, hes also a great goal scorerd. 17 Career goals now for the young player.!

Sam Collier - Goals (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Carshalton%2008/Season%204/SamCollierGoals.jpg)

Finances (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Carshalton%2008/Season%204/Finance.jpg) - Good gates in the BSP and some big-ish cup games have seen my finances into a nice position, but i still lose money on a seasonly basis without them. Not enough money to improve facilities yet sees me really struggle to make an impact in the division.

Blue Square Premier (http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a385/NepentheZ/Carshalton%2008/Season%204/BSP.jpg) - A 13th pace mid-table finish isnt bad, but i really should be doing better. Going into my 4th season in the division now, and dont really want to be here much longer.!

Things i need help with!!!!

Parent Club - I just cant seem to get one. I need some payers on loan, because without them, im just not going anywhere, and for 4 and a half solid years, my board have refused to find me a parent club.!

Scouting - I have 3 scouts, 1 has JP/JA at 17/19 - and is my main scout, 1 has JP/JA at 20/9 and the other JP/JA 12/20. My problem is, they never ever find 'new' talent. I've not signed one regen through there searchings, only players ive asked them to scout, and i dont think thats good enough. On top of that, they find mainly old aged players. They also rate a lot of the players 4-7*, but when i compare them, they are not even a patch on my current team. A few times too, they have rated a player 7*, i have got to the stage of offering a contract, and the ASS Man thinks the player would fail to make an ipact, or is the '5th best Striker' in the team. If the scout is Rating him 7*, shouldnt that make him the best? Its baffling me.!

Whitby Town, Season 08/09 - Blue Square North - Season Review

Having informed the board that avoiding relegation was the target, I was very surprised that I managed to do much better than that... namely automatic promotion (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/Whitby08-09/FinalTable08-09.jpg)! A seven game unbeaten run at the end of the season, coupled with Nuneaton's inability to keep a seven-point gap open, means that Whitby have back-to-back promotion into the Blue Square Premier!

A modest wage budget of £2.1k wasn't breached once, and the squad (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/Whitby08-09/SquadSeasonEnd09.jpg) really did themselves proud. There were, of course, stand out individuals, namely Obeng (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/Whitby08-09/3rdBestPlayer08-09.jpg), Craddock (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/Whitby08-09/2ndBestPlayer08-09.jpg) and Owens (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/Whitby08-09/1stBestPlayer08-09.jpg).

Unfortunately, the backbone of the team were on loan, and will shortly be leaving, meaning the future may not be quite so rosy. Still, a sacking seems highly unlikely, lest the board suffer a fans' revolt (http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/matthewhornby/Whitby08-09/WhitbyInfo06-09.jpg)!!!

Hemel Hempstead - BSS - 2009/10 End of Season Update

After a promising first season in the BSS, my aims for this season were to get a top half finish or better. Crystal Palace has a lovely team to players willing to come on loan to me, so I had 8 players from there, including two renewed from last season. I also managed to sign 1 great Bulgarian midfielder, and 2 top strikers.

My new superstar striker I had on loan from QPR last season, but he was released and agreed to sign for me.

Was a pretty consistent season from Hemel Hempstead and we have finished in 2nd place in the league with the dreaded playoffs to follow.

Regardless of how I do in the playoffs, I need to sign some real players for next season, as I cant keep relying on Palace.

I was wondering how many of you play real LLM rules? and by that I mean no use of the search screen at all and no typing in player names and scouting them.

I mean using the job centre fully and only signing players that your scout finds.

I'm asking this because I keep having trouble assembling a team from the start. I manage to sign a scout within a week or two into the game but it isn't until about a week before the season until he comes back with anything. It's hard to assemble a squad before the season.

This is also why I'd like to be able to retain lower league players so that you have something to work with from the start and not just a handful of 16 year olds.

I don't play by the LLM rules because I completely disagree with their view on the player search screen.

The player search is a generated list of players according to your scouting knowledge, those players are on that list because of the knowledge of the scouts and coaches you have. In older versions of the game, this wasn't the case, it was just a list of players and it seems that the LLM's are still treating it as it was in the older versions of the game.

In my opinion, waiting for a scout to report on a player before signing him is a ridiculous way of going about things. Scouts will often attend certain matches to watch particular players, they don't just wander about aimlessly then report back on anyone interesting. I like to give my scouts a list of players I want them to look at, then wait for the reports before thinking about signing them.

If a manager was informed of a talented player in Cameroon by a member of his staff or a fellow manager, would he instruct his scout to go and look at him or would he just buy him a ticket to Cameroon?

Bedford - League One - 2012/13 - End OF Season Update

After my second season in League One I got promoted. Throughout the season I was nearly always in the first 4 positions and in fact ended up 4th and got promoted through the playoffs. Won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy for the 2nd consecutive season too.

Some stars this season:-
Ricky Shakes (http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff101/lethal87/snap0021-1.jpg) - great winger signed him in January and did a fantastic job.

Chris Whelpdale (http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff101/lethal87/snap0022-1.jpg) - my other winger had a good season too. This was his 3rd season with Bedford.

Beranger (http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff101/lethal87/snap0023-1.jpg) - signed him for free, proved to be class.

Nicholl (http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff101/lethal87/snap0024.jpg) - signed in january too. Made some great performances, saved 5 penalties in the playoff final. http://community.sigames.com/customicons/icon14.gif

Rodriguez (http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff101/lethal87/snap0026-1.jpg) - my top scorer this season.

Go on holiday until 20th June. (Hint - saving on 19th June may give you a better choice of teams by saving and reloading the game). This shouldn't take that long, perhaps about an hour. (http://www.dafugeschallenge.com/Rules/)

Wrong info so now I don't have a good choice of teams. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif The lowest reputation from the teams I got was 1000 reputation Bedford Town.

My Profile (http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/2647/bedfordef7.png)

I have only 6 (all 16 years old!) playable players and basically, they are all lumps of wood. So... I guess I'll be bringing in 20 or so players for my 1st team as well as 10 or so youths that'll replace some of the 20 in a couple of seasons since I'll be targeting oldies or players who won't be improving but are of enough standard to compete in the bottom league. This will probably mean 6 months of hell due to players not gelling but my board expect me to "attempt" to avoid relegation.

There is only one problem with my staff though: there are none. I'll be looking for an assistant manager, a fitness coach, a goalkeeping coach, a few regular coaches, a physio and a decent scout. I'll try and kill 2 birds with one stone and get some player/coaches. My Chairman status is currently "Happy to stay", after I'm finished spending all £0 transfer budget and increasing my wage expenditure from £60 to £2,500 he'll be "Desperate to leave the sinking ship".

I have a feeder club of my own (wtf?), Dunstable who have no playable players so that's a great feeder club. My parent club is much better, Coca Cola League 1 side Luton. I'll raid them as well as asking for another parent club.

That about sums it up - onward and upward and I think I'll be choosing "avoid relegation" as my seasonal expectations, I'm not daring enough to go for a mid-table finish I'm afraid.

Wrong info so now I don't have a good choice of teams. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif The lowest reputation from the teams I got was 1000 reputation Bedford Town.

The website is using last year's information, if you have a look at the first post in this thread you will find the correct dates.

Yeah I realize that now (Y), I'm not too fussed anyway. 1000 still isn't a "high" rep club for promotion, merely average. http://community.sigames.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Really getting sick of teams of grey players.

2nd Qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Hemel 1 - 1 Edgware
Edgware 3 - 3 Hemel (4-3 pen win to Edgware AET)

Given Edgware are literally my most local team I am ever going to have on this game, I dont appreciate being beaten on penalties by them.

Given my board wanted me to hit the 4th qualifying round, they wont be happy either.

I'm in 2nd, 10 points behind top. 18 draws in 33 games means I won't win it this year.

i keep getting replays in the cup.. really annoying because my players are tired and they get alot of injuries now.
I might just play backup team from now on
