Criteria for player of the season

Just finished my 1st season in BSNorth and my main striker won 'Player of the Season'

V nice, as my prev experience of such awards was CM4 where it was often given to players who had played 1 match as a sub for example.

Anyway, the striker had 40 goals from 42 appearances in the BSNorth, and set a new record for highest rating in that division 7.59

But i was just wondering what criteria the AI uses to pick a 'player of the season'

does it just go on av rating, or just goals (2nd and 3rd in the category were also strikers) maybe goals/assists if a midfielder has a fair number of both, etc etc
