I need help. From someone who talks spanish

Recommended Posts

Just started a game with Rayo in spain, and haven't been able to figure out what the "nickname" of my club means: Los Franjirrojos

Google translate fails, google fails, or I just fail.

Any spanish speaking guy (or girl) out there who can help me out here?

If this isn't the right place for a request like this, I apologize.

On a translator 'Los Franjirrojos' just comes up as 'The Franjirrojos'....

Yes, that well-known English word "Franjirrojos" Congratulations, you've just proven what we all knew already: that online translators are rubbish. If something like Babelfish can't translate something then it won't bother - it'll translate the words around it and leave you with an English phrase that has a random word in French/German/Spanish/whatever in the middle of it.

Well, given it's two words joined together - fraja (stripe/band) and rojo (red) - it's not surprising the translator couldn't manage it. It's asking a bit too much of it! If you'd split the words it would probably have translated it, but of course you'd have to realise first that it was a combination of two words, which would need some level of Spanish to begin with!
