New laptop - can I take FM saved game with me?

Hi Guys,

Time has come for a new laptop being delivered next week - I've got quite an extensive FM game on the go and obviously dont want to lose the game progress etc - is there a way of copying the right files/folders and simply placing in the right directory on my new laptop so that I can carry the game on?

copy your save file onto a memory card/ stick to transfer the data, I do it all the time depending on whether I'm on the laptop or desktop.

Wow, great, that really works? I used to try this on early versions of FM and it never did...any potential pitfalls in this plan, database versions etc?

if you use a custom database then you might want to transfer that aswell, I just copy the whole FM2010 folder from my documents, that way my tactics and schedules go with it

The Hall of Fame is not part of your save game and needs to be transferred separately, a search on here should turn up its location.

OK great thanks for that, really helpful - I'll practice swapping between my home computer and laptop over the next few days first!

Just remember to patch up your game to as far as you previously had it before you load the game in the new laptop, it won't run otherwise.
