Any tips for patch 10.0?

Unfortunately I'm in Afghanistan so can't download any patches.

I'm at the beginning of the 2013/2014 season with Bolton in the Championship after starting off with Aberystwyth. I didn't expect the premier league to be easy and just staved off relegation twice, I'm sure my tactics are good and I've got some very decent players. The likes of Juventus and Barca seem to want them at any rate.

Well, they play well against the likes of Man Utd and co (usually for a draw) but put in 5.odd ratings against Championship sides. Frankly it's crap. Trying to motivate them with the exceptionally dull press conferences and teamtalks etc is seriously getting on my tits.

So, any tips for the older versions of the game?

Seems to have been written by some geek who thinks FM is a roleplaying game so far. Without all of the dull stuff it would be a great game. Does anyone know where to find Gandalf to buy a potion of 'playing averagely well against crap opposition'?
