Players should not retire

Now now having this slightly misleading title I want to be more precise and say that players and staff? shouldn't "retire" from the game as in disappear. Would it really be that much overloading for the game to keep a short bio of them or their stats?

It might be tough on the later stages of the game but still surely can be worked around. For example exporting the data of retired players/staff to a file and enabling the user to switch it on/off depending on their likes. I'm using a pretty weak PC so that option would be nice.

It just seems bad to have some players just as names that aren't clickable and that you can't even find via the search engine. Even a little title would be nice for example: David Villa (Legendary Valencia striker).

If I remember correctly, back in the Eidos days players and staff used to be clickable for a short time after retiring so you could view their history.

It would be nice but there are a LOT of players in the game, so as you said it would probably start to drag. The (likely) slow-down probably isn't seen as being worth it to gain relatively little (IMO).

At the very least, players should stay around for a couple of weeks, so we can view their stats after they retire but before they disappear.

Perhaps have players removed from the game during the change over between one season and the next?

So players who choose small database for speed, effectively end up after a twenty season save with a medium database? Or create less players? Just don't see what it would add to the game really.

Well players choosing to play for speed usually have weak PCs like I do. That's what the disable option would be for. And on the plus side you will have more info to dwell into.
