How can I completely de-install the game ?

Recommended Posts

Due to the large number of in-game crashes I get, I decided to de-install the game (FM 2010), and then re-install it.

But to my surprise, even after de-installing, deleting the left behind folders, then re-installing from the game disk it somehow 'remembered' all my previous settings, and will therefore probably remember any bad data or whatever came about as a result of my 1st install.

So how can I de-install the game so that the comp thinks it was never installed before ?

Deleting the folders should do it I'd have thought. Which folders did you delete?

Tried the above.

Used uninstaller to uninstall. Looked to see if any folders were left behind and manually deleted.

Used Ccleaner to look for any registry stuff etc and deleted anything that showed up for the game

Reinstalled the game, and it STILL remembered my preferences etc.

Why can't this game be completely deleted from a comp ? Where does the game put it's hidden stuff ?

Getting rid of a virus is easier than removing FM 2010

What version of windows are you using?

Windows 7 - start>documents there is a Sports Interactive folder

Windows 7 - c:\users\(username)\AppData\Roaming is another Sports Interactive folder (for this folder you need to enable *view hidden folders and files) *google it if you dont know how to

There may be the same locations for Windows Vista. The key is to enable the viewing of hidden folders and files so you can see them to delete them.
