Sacked

Just been sacked by cork city in my career game. Had just made it to july and alot of my free transfers had came in to help us push for the league title. Some one else said they would like my job and I was sacked. Checked the new guy and he had only managed a low spanish side not even in a playable league.

Feel bad that i've been replaced by a nobody.

Any one else suffered anything similar?

i've never had this happen to me no. but i've always thought that if i did i would take it that perhaps it wasn't the right job for me and that i was ment for better things

I read it happened to someone else recently. They'd recently won promotion and the board sacked him after a regen manager declared interest in the job when he struggled at first.

I have been sacked lots usually with board upset by my request for things..............and calling thier bluff

Well Cork City are a team with a very low reputation and have financial troubles so not surprised by that. maybe they couldnt afford your wages anymore

Maybe, but by sacking him would cost more surely? Besides, the new guy will need paying aswell. Think Liverpool

Yes forgot about that. But one can't be surprised by the club hiring a low repuation manager. The League of ireland managers rarely make it anywhere else

Pat Fenlon was linked with Dundee United and almost got the job.

The club were financialy ok as I sold 2 players for a million each. Which the board praised me for it.

I've not heard of anyone in FM getting sacked 'on the spot' so to speak.

Did you enter into negotiations for a new contract? Or ask the board for one?

Because someone declared interest in the job and the board chose this other guy.

BUt now that I think about it I think managers can only declare interest if the manager's job is insecure correct?

nope they sounded like they where happy with me, they definatly werent unhappy with me so I planned on waiting for them to come to me.

And you can declare intrest in jobs where they are close to running out of contract I think

yeah, and he tried to get them to play a 4-4-2 something they havent seen in my time at the club, which saw them crash out of the Euro cup. But doing ok in the league THANKS to the players I brought in.

tryin my best, all seems to be big jobs or jobs that I wouldn't even entertain the idea off taking. Im managing the Ivory Coast under 21s though so thats keeping me going

You can apply. Quite good as I can discover the next big talents for the main team. Hopefully I will get the Main teams job though.

In FM08, I took Leeds top of League One with the 15 pt deficit, then two seasons later took them into the Premiership, kept them there for two years (the 2nd season being no. 1 in the league for a short spell). A board took over and replaced me with Graeme Souness. I was pretty angry.

to be fair Graeme Souness would have a lot more experiance than you. And would be the better manager. Harsh still though. You would think they would give you a trial period

No mate I'm not playing FM atm, waiting on 10.3 tbh. But I would find it interesting managing a club and u-21's of Ireland at the same time.

I'm confused because I was hearing about how Notts Co. are minted and on the way up and now that they're going bust.

i think there is a lesson to learn here

my club has so far come to me to discuss my contract a year before it ends (three times now and always exactly 365 days before it ends); so i presume that if they don't it is you who should be persuing them around this time of the year -if you wan't to keep that job.

it would seem that if the club "forgets" to renew your contract one year before they won't come to you at all - and other candidates will start trying to get your job 6 months before your contract expires.

Yep thats why I said that. Considering how well you did with Leeds I dont see how anyone could choose Souness ahead of you. Besides he's been out of the managerial scene with a while now. Decided to be a pundit for RTE Sport in Ireland instead.

Only team that ive ever been sacked from was brazil for failing to win copa america. I probably should of expected it as the brazillian FA seem to change manager on a monthly basis
