teams collecting goalkeepers

i'm at the start of my 5th season and i noticed that Manchester City signed 6 quality goalkeepers in the summer transfer window

Gianluca Curci - €7M, former starter at Siena

Ben Foster - €5M, former backup at ManU

Tim Howard - €9.25M, former starter at Everton

Paul Robinson - free, former starter at Blackburn

Sergio Romero - free, former starter at AZ

Franco Costanzo - €3.6M, former backup at Juventus(me)

so that's 6 competent goalkeepers bought in ONE transfer window

funny thing is that they use Romero as a starter, so they paid €24.85M for backups. Robinson, Curci and Costanzo aren't even registered for the premier league.

anyone else ever had something like this happen?

Sounds like AC Milan of the 90's if we have all the players then they can't play against us.

Not sure why Utd would sell to City though.

I saw this in the last version with AC Milan.

They already had a couple of decent keepers, and then added Scott Carson and Joe Hart!

Yes, it sounds like a bug and due to AI irrationality. Surely they could get the AI to act a bit more normal.

In my game Man United bought Mark Bunn from Blackburn for £12.25 million and barely played him. He's not worth £12.25 million let alone £5 million.

I have a differetn question, why they rotate them too often. In almost every match AI change their goalie? it` a bug?

Definitely an issue, I have had Man City sign 3 average looking 23-25 year old goalies in the first season, and then only to do the same thing the next season. Their reserves is where they stock them all :confused: But they do still play most of them, major rotation system!

I’ve found that English national players are going overseas, and cheap Brazilian/Spanish imports are playing in England. The England team at the moment has about 2-3 Spanish born England internationals. I know this is a known issue, but I highly doubt it’d happen IRL.

why would sergio romero be on a free transfer? he is a good keeper i use him as my first choice in the argentina squad.

The GK issue was reported at game launch and was addressed in one of the patches.

Haven't seen that on FM10 tbh. However City on FM09 did buy/sell GKs every season. Belive they signed about 3 each season, it was like they were trying to pull off some sort of record by having signed every keeper around.

Its been a long running fault, I remember seeing a team with about 30 GKs and 6 outfielders in a previous version.

I don't understand why people care so much about what the AI does.

I thought this issue is fixed in 10.2,i never seen ridiculous gk transfer so far,surely op's playing with 10.0 or 10.1

I guess it's because we're playing against the AI, and if they let their teams fall apart there'll be no challenge.

in fm good teams like to buy gks. i have moreira (benfica) loaned to liverpool. ridiculous. but was a good deal for me though

inept ai transfers have been a game breaker for years

Thats weird then,it was really annoying before the patches thats why i wrote that,and i honestly didnt see that much gk transfer so far,you can try to post it here http://community.sigames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=160 ,thats a lot of leagues though,your save must be like 1gb

Any update on whether the state of AI transfers has been looked at for 10.3 would be very welcome....
